Low light could be better, otherwise good

This Camera is a good choice if you are looking to buy a brand-name webcam under $100. The Quality of the video is good enough for online meetings, but probably nothing else. One of the biggest problems with this camera is that the picture is the dark images. The picture is unsaturated and dark. I would recommend this for people that have good lighting, because without it, faces will be very dark, and shadows will be exemplified.
A problem that I had once with the camera was that weird lines of random color appeared at the top of my video. This was fixed after the camera was turned off then back on. It has only happened once so far in my use, but it was a strange.
The built-in Microphone is good enough for users without a microphone or headset, but it does pick up a lot of background noise and echo, so I would only recommend using it if you are not always talking.
Other than picture, this camera was very easy to set up (plug and play). I also really like the light that turns on when the camera is in use. One of the downsides of the camera is, if you monitor’s bezel is thin, this blocks the screen. Another thing that I would have liked would have been a privacy screen. There is no physical privacy screen that blocks the camera.
Pro’s
- Looks good
- Easy to use
- Works Well with virtual backgrounds
Con’s
- Unsaturated or dark
- Works better in good lighting
- Blocks screen
- Built-in Microphone picks up a lot of background noise and echo
- Had weird glitch lines once

Very good juicer with many accessories included!

I’ve had this juicer for about 2 weeks. For the price, this juicer is comparable to a much more expensive juicer I’ve had for 18 years. The Nutribullet juicer has many features I appreciate, such as the large 3” feed chute. It’s great not having to spend so much time cutting my fruits and vegetables into smaller pieces to fit into a smaller chute. The plastic parts are easy to disassemble and clean. The juicer comes with a cleaning brush. The bristles clean the stainless steel sieve nicely and the flat end of the brush is used for emptying the pulp from the pulp basin. This juicer comes with a few accessories: two 12 oz glass storage bottles, one 2 oz and 4 oz freezer trays, a 27 oz juice pitcher and a juice pitcher lid with froth separator. The pitcher lid with froth separator works well, I’m not a fan of froth in my juices. The Nutribullet extracts juice well, the leftover pulp is not wet.
The juicer is not too heavy, unlike my previous juicer. (For comparison, it was an Omega high centrifuge juicer.) I’ve only had the Nutribullet for 2 weeks so I can’t attest to its durability. Compared to my previous juicer, the plastic parts do not seem as durable. Hopefully, I am wrong. Given the price, I would recommend the Nutribullet juicer.

Works well on small spots, not for larger areas
on October 13, 2020

The Hoover Powerdash GO promises to be able to remove stubborn stains. While we don’t have any pets, we do have 3 kids to clean up after! To be fair, they’re not very messy, but we do have a few stains over the years that can use some cleaning. This includes a stain in my living room carpet and an area rug that’s quite a few years old and needs a cleaning. The carpet stain in the living room is the remains of slime, yes, every parent’s worst nightmare! My wife had cleaned it several times before with various soaps and brushes, but a green tint remained. Enter the Hoover GO! After spraying the spot thoroughly, we let the solution soak in for a bit and then proceeded to use to brush to work the solution in. Then using the front part of the nozzle, we were able to suck up most of the solution. Talk about instant gratification, watching the dirt get sucked up into the clear brush head is kind of fun! I think it’s similar to how some people like looking at a Biore nose strips after it’s peeled. After cleaning it 2 times, the stain was gone! This had been there for probably 2 years. The next test was area rug in my son’s room. It’s a few years old and a brown/beige color. The dirt is fairly noticeable on it. I know this machine isn’t made for large areas, but I just wanted to test it on this 1’x1’ section to see if it’ll clean it as well as the slime stain. After following the same steps, it was noticeably cleaner the remaining area of the rug. I know the Powerdah works because the solution that was now in the vacuum was filthy! I couldn’t believe all that came from the carpets I just cleaned
Overall, I like this cleaner, it’s small, so it doesn’t take up much space and it works very well. I wanted to test the Powerdash GO on a Gatorade stain in the trunk of my minivan, but unfortunately, we ran out of the solution. I’ll have to look for a larger bottle of cleaner!
Pros:
Effective on stubborn stains
Small, requires little closet space
Cons:
Confusing array of solutions/cleaners available.
Small sample bottle included

Great choice, good response times and bright
on September 24, 2020

Most Gaming monitors are often way overdone with the design of the stand and housing, however, this one is a very good simplistic monitor, with minimalistic “gamer aesthetic”.
To start off with design, the bezel is very thin and the back is mostly plastic with a brushed aluminum pattern on the plastic. The stand is also very simple, is height adjustable, and rotates up to 90 degrees.
Now to the monitor itself:
The response times are very good, and the viewing angles on this monitor are incredible. I could be facing this monitor from the side and the picture would be practically the same. On the other hand, the whites on this monitor seem to have a bluish tint, but this can be easily adjusted in the settings. I also think that the darks could be darker, but I suppose this can be a good thing when gaming. The biggest drawback of this monitor is definitely the lacking IO. The IO includes only HDMI, Display ports, and an audio jack; with no USB ports whatsoever.
Overall, this monitor is a good choice if it is being used just for gaming, and the user does not have any need for extra USB ports.
Pro’s
- Good response times
- No “tearing”
- Thin bezel
- Lower Price than others
- Good viewing angles
- Controls are easy to use
- Bright
Con’s
- Lacking IO
- Comes saturated and with blue tint on whites

Bose Sunglasses, a whole new way to enjoy music!
on September 10, 2020
Posted by: Gizmo
from New Jersey
I’ll admit, in the past, I’ve walked by the display at Best Buy for Bose sunglasses. I didn’t really think much of them; I didn’t even try them on. Why do you need sunglasses with speakers built in when you can use Bluetooth ear phones?! Let me tell you, when I received these to test out, I was in for a big surprise!
Unboxing:
There isn’t much in the box, just the glasses, a hard case to carry them in, a microfiber cloth and a proprietary charging cable, don’t lose this cable. It connects to the arm of the sunglasses magnetically. There is ½” think booklet containing “safety instruction” in every conceivable language and a book with 2 pages that shows you how to power up your glasses and connect to the app, also in 50 languages. That’s it, there’s no quick reference guide on how to use the glasses. You have to look in the app for help.
Setup:
Setup is quite easy, using the Bose app, turn on the glasses, search for your phone. Select and pair, it’s pretty simple. There’s 1 “smart” button on the glasses that pretty much does everything, hold it down to turn on or off. When listening to music, tap the button twice and you can skip to the next song, tap it once when you have a call coming in and it’ll pick up. What I wasn’t able to figure out was how to disconnect it from my son’s phone and connect it to mine. I tried holding down the button to pair my phone, it didn’t work. I finally had to have him “forget” it from his Bluetooth devices.
Sunglasses:
These sunglasses (Tenor) say “one size”, I found them to be a bit snug, I don’t think my head is that large. The styling is probably where these sunglasses fall a bit short. My kids said it looks like I walked out of a theater with 3D glasses. The other feedback I received is that the look like a blind person’s glasses. The arms are thick and wide (to accommodate the speakers) which makes these glasses not so stylish. I used these on a recent trip to the beach, I was able to see very clearly with these. The polarized lenses are very sharp and filters out glare nicely. In fact, I found these lenses to be as good as my Maui Jim’s, my favorite sunglasses. Another observation is that the thick arms also causes the side of my head, where the arms sit, to be sweatier. I guess that expected, I just noticed that because on my normal sunglasses, the arms are very thin.
Sound quality:
I was blown away by the sound quality that came out of these sunglasses! For the size, and the fact that they’re built into sunglasses, they sound very good! Equally surprising is that these are not loud to anyone except you! Sure if the music is on loud and someone is next to you, they’ll hear some sound. Similar if someone was next to you with earbuds, you hear some sound, but it’s not very audible. Phone conversations were excellent. The mic built into the right arm of the glasses was able to pick up my voice clearly. People I was speaking to on the phone didn’t know I wasn’t using the phone. I got used to these pretty quickly. After a few conversations, I forgot I was using sunglasses and I would come into the house and take them off, cutting off my conversation!
Uses:
I can think of many instances where I would use these glasses instead of ear buds. It’s perfect for certain sports where you need to hear your surroundings such as bicycling and skiing, but want to listen to your favorite music. Sliding your finger on the right arm forward and backwards controls the volume. So if you’re biking, these is very convenient. Even if you’re just walking around town, these are great so you’re aware of your surroundings.
Conclusion:
Bose has done it again! In the short time that I’ve had these, I found that the more I used them, the more I liked them. I would walk in from outside wanting to keep them on but obviously it’s difficult to see. I showed these to my siblings and they were also impressed by the sound quality. I would highly recommend these glasses to anyone looking for a comfortable and unobtrusive way to listen to music. My recommendation would be to try them on in person, if possible.

Excellent results, even for beginners!
on September 9, 2020
Posted by: Gizmo
from New Jersey
Overview:
I could not wait to receive the Breville Barista Pro, if it looked half as beautiful as it did on the website, I would be happy! The design of this machine is very nice, it looks like it’s good enough the be a professional machine, but made for home use. It’s quite large, measuring 13”x13”, you’ll need a decent amount of counter space for this machine!
The machine comes with many accessories to help you successfully prepare a consistent cup of coffee. A water filter, a “razor” to ensure you use the same amount of coffee each time, a frothing cup and several coffee baskets. The one I like the most is the tamper that is magnetically stored neatly, out of the way on the coffee machine! All the included accessories feels nice and solid.
Breville includes an excellent instruction manual, take a few minutes to read it. I found it to be very informative and well written. If you haven’t purchased the machine and you’re curious what you’re in for with this machine, download the pdf version. It seems a bit intimidating at first, but it’s not very difficult to learn how to use.
Layout and features:
The “Thermojet” heating system does heat up very fast. I’ve owned expresso machines in the past, and they usually take minutes to heat up, this takes seconds! With the Barista Pro, I can even use the steam wand to froth my milk while it’s brewing coffee!
I found the layout of the knobs, buttons to be very intuitive and easy to use, although I did find myself looking for a button for hot water more than once (it’s the knob on the right, turn it away from you for hot water, towards you for steam). It’s a nice touch that they have a hot water nozzle for Americano’s or for heating up your cup.
The results:
The coffee that comes out of this machine is excellent!! Needless to say, my wife and I are very well caffeinated this past week! You’ll want to make sure your extraction is just right, not too slow to flow out and not too fast (page 15 of manual goes into more details). I found the default grind size of 15 to work for me, I did have to shorten the amount of time it grinded coffee, it was overfilling with the default setting. The Barista Pro makes it easy to customize grinder settings. I typically drink mostly brewed coffee from Starbucks, but with this machine, I’ve been trying latte’s, cappuccino’s, Americano’s and even an espresso. This machine makes brewing coffee enjoyable. To learn about the various coffee drinks and to be able to make it all is such a pleasure. I’ve made Lattes and Americano's for family visiting (using Kona coffee beans from Trade Joe's) and they all loved the results!
Conclusion:
I cannot say enough about the Barista Pro, we absolutely love it! After using it for a week, my wife and I have become a bit spoiled with the great tasting coffee it makes! I cannot go back to boring drip coffee. I’ve also become a bit obsessed with trying to create “latte art”, I still need more practice. If I had not been provided with a Barista Pro for this review, after tasting the results, I would definitely purchase one! On a side note, if you end up purchasing this, you might want to also pick up the Breville knock box for your grinds!
Pros:
1. Great tasting coffee…just like a coffee shop
2. Beautiful design
3. Water reservoir has a unique handle, I was able to remove and fill up water with minimal clearance. I have 4” between the top of the Barista Pro and my cabinet, with that, I’m able to remove the water reservoir and fill with having to move the Barista Pro!
4. Easy to clean up – large drip tray, clean up once a day.
Cons: (minor pet peeves that would improve the overall experience)
1. It would’ve been nice if the manual had some recipes for common coffee drinks. It’s easy enough to find on the internet though.
2. The frothing pitcher should have measurements on the inside so you know how many ounces of milk you’re frothing etc. This would make creating coffee drinks a bit easier. Frothing cups with measurements are easy to find online.

Versatile blender and more for the family

I’ve heard many great things about these types of blenders; to be able to make a quick shake/smoothie, not have to wash a large container and be able to drink right out of the container you blended in seems smart and convenient.
The unboxing experience didn’t go so well, as I pulled the product box out of the shipping box, the bottom opened up and all the contents spilled out. Seems like the cardboard box is a bit on the thin side and the way it was folded into itself didn’t support the weight of the contents.
The Foodi Power Pitcher system includes many accessories, 3 mixing containers:
- Power pitcher, this is the normal large (9 cups) size blender container. This is a nicely designed container, the lid needs to be locked in place to disengage the safety mechanism before the blender can be turned on. The lid has a gasket around it that forms a nice seal and also features a pouring spout.
- Power Nutri cup with spout lid: this is the container used for smootie drinks
- Power Nutri Bowl with storage lid: I wouldn’t really call this a “bowl”, its more of a shorter, wider Nutri cup. It has “paddles” that you turn to move large items around as you’re blending so everything is blended
In addition to the containers, included are carious blades:
- “Hybrid edge” blade for the small containers
- dough blade
- Chopping blade. I think the chopping blade is where the “Ninja” name comes into play! It features 6 super sharp blades! Be careful cleaning this, you can easily get cut with it…ask me how I know.
It also includes a cleaning brush to clean off stuck-on ingredients. After getting acquainted with all the accessories and figuring out what each does, I was ready to make a smoothie. I filled the Nutri cup with the frozen fruits I wanted, locked the Nutri cup into place and picked the “Smoothie” function and let the machine do its thing. The blender finished running, but the drink wasn’t all mixed thoroughly, it’s my fault as most of the ingredients I put in were frozen and I didn’t put in enough liquids for it to blend properly. Added more liquid, pressed the program again and voila, a nicely blended smoothie!
Test #2, smoothie bowl: my wife made a smoothie bowl using the Nutri bowl cup, it came out really nice. The paddles definitely helped with the results, see the results in the attached photo! This is something she probably cannot do (at least not easily) with our current blender, a Vita-Mix.
The blender has a nice, clean look to it, the program that I’m running “Smoothie” is lit up and easy to read, while the other available programs are dimmed. There’s also manual mode, if you need to control the speed yourself. I like that the blender has suction cups on the feet so it doesn’t move while it’s on. The Velcro strap on the wire is a nice feature. You don’t know how many times I run around looking for something to tie the cord with on various appliance!
Compare to my current blender, a Vita-Mix, the Ninja Power Pitcher system is nice because it has pre-programmed options as well as different sized containers. The versatility alone makes it much more useful, for us anyway. I could go order smaller containers on their website, but what I would spend if more than this Ninja system. My son (12), who makes smoothies frequently, also loves this Ninja blender, the unit is lighter and the smaller container is easier for him to clean.
Overall, we really like this Ninja Foodi Power Pitcher, there’s nothing I could say we don’t like about it. I wish the included recipe book had more smoothie recipes in it, but I guess it’s meant to be a sampling of recipes to demo each of the functions the blender is capable of.

Excellent wireless headset, so comfortable too!

Once you open the box and pick up the Logitech Pro X headset, one of the first things you may notice is the large circular metallic “G” logo on either side, surrounded by rubberized black plastic that’s soft to the touch, but may scratch easily. Overall, it looks and feels like a quality product. In the box, you will find a set of microfiber/foam ear pads to swap out the leather ones, a detachable mic, a nice bag to store your headset and a USB-C charging cable.
I really like all the included accessories, the cloth ear pads are a nice addition, and are a great choice if you live in a hot area. They aren’t as good as the leatherette ear pads at passively cancelling noise. They were very easy to install and take off.
I also really appreciate the included carry pouch, although I don’t know when I would ever use it.
The headset:
The headset overall performs very well, after a week of testing, I did not notice any delay or lag. They are very comfortable, especially with the microfiber foam ear pads. I had them on for hours. The headset could use a little more bass, but it is very good other than that. The surround on this headset works very well, I would say it works better without the emulated surround available in the software. Something irritating about the headset is that you have to manually turn on the headset every time, unlike their other products, such as a mouse, which automatically turn on. I also find that my ears touch the inside of the headphones, the ear pads are oval, compared to my current RAZER headphones which are round, so it provides more space for your ears. I found the sound quality to be very good, better than the 2 Razers I compared it to, although to be fair, the headsets I compared this to are lower price points. The sound was louder and clearer on the Pro X compared to my current headset.
These are all small nitpicky complaints, and this headset is overall very good and if you are searching for a wireless headset in this price range, this is a good choice.

KitchenAid Cordless 5 cup chopper
This is my second mini food processor. I’ve used my mini Cuisinart food processor for years and decided to try the KitchenAid 5 cup chopper. I’ve used the KitchenAid for garlic and onions with perfect results, with consistently sized pieces. (My previous mini chopper resulted in large pieces of food in addition to very small pieces.) Ground beef and chicken was effortless. The KitchenAid chopper is very easy to use, I didn’t even have to read the instruction manual. I appreciate the thumb-activated Pulse/On button on the handle. The unit is easy to assemble and disassemble. I really like the cordless feature, as it allows me to use the chopper anywhere on my counter. I also love the spout feature for easy pouring of liquids. One full 2 hour charge provides more than enough power to chop multiple items. The unit holds the charge very well, I’m able to use the chopper without charging again two weeks after the last charge.
KitchenAid advertises this chopper’s capacity as 5 cups. I measured the maximum volume to be slightly less than 4.5 cups with the blade attached. I would not recommend more than 4 cups as the contents will leak out when the blades are in operation. This is not a deal breaker for me, as I don’t usually need to chop such a large amount.
Overall, this KitchenAid chopper does an excellent job.

Beautiful, power laptop - lightweight tablet!
on July 12, 2020
Posted by: Gizmo
from New Jersey
Full disclosure: Reviewers for in this invitation-only program (Tech Insider Network) are provided products for the purpose of writing an honest, unbiased review.
When I first saw this laptop, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Is it a laptop or a tablet? My concern was if it’s both, does it do either functions well? I’ve seen many other laptops that claim it can be used as a tablet. There are many laptops where the keyboard folds behind the screen and they call it tablet mode, but it weighs much more then what we consider tablet weight. But with the Windows Surface Book 3, the keyboard detaches, to me, this is a game changer!
For comparison, the weight of the Surface book (tablet only) is 1lb 13 ounces (29 ounces), for comparison an iPad 10.2” weighs 17 ounces and the iPad Pro 12.9” weighs 1lb 6.6 ounces (22.6 ounces).
Unboxing and appearance:
The laptop comes very nicely packaged, open the box and you will find the laptop, charger and cord neatly packaged. The charging block has a USB port also, nice touch as I use it to charge my phone. No need to take up a USB port on the laptop. I wish the charger had some sort of wire management on it though (i.e. plastic tabs to wrap wire around, Velcro strap). The magnetic charger is a nice touch, it connects to the laptop parallel, so it doesn’t protrude out from the laptop. It’s made out of black plastic, so feels a bit cheap. A Surface pen is not included, at this price point, it would’ve been nice if it were included. If you have a pen, it doesn’t appear to have a spot to store it on the laptop.
Initially I wasn’t crazy about the hinge design, when it folds up, it doesn’t fold flat, there’s a quarter inch gap near the hinge area. I think we’re all used to laptops folding flat when the lid is down. After a week of usage, I’m getting more used to it and it doesn’t bother me as much. The front lip has a magnet that keeps the lid shut tight. The magnet is evident as my watchband keeps sticking to it. I end up taking off my watch when I use the laptop, which is probably better anyway as I don’t want to scratch up the laptop. Overall the design is very clean and nice, the shiny silver Windows logo gives it a premium look.
I’ve seen many 2 in 1 laptops where the screen is very heavy, making it easy to topple over, but this laptop is very well balanced. Pushing gently on the screen doesn’t cause the keyboard to lift up. Instead, the hinge responds by opening more. This is where I start to appreciate the Surface book hinge design. I have 4 laptops in my home, all of them, if I push the top without holding the base down, will lift up. Traditional laptop hinges are stiffer.
The keyboard lights up nicely, there are 3 settings that you can toggle between.
Usage:
Initial setup was a breeze, follow the instructions, log into your Windows account it pretty much does the rest. I love the Windows “Hello” login (facial recognition) feature. I have that on one of my other laptops, but not in my work laptop. It’s definitely nice to have and works well.
I found the picture quality of the PixelSense display to be very good. I used this laptop with Adobe Lightroom to organize, edit and print my large library of photos. The colors and clarity of the photos look very good (I have not calibrated the display yet). I’ve used Lightroom on my iMac that’s approximately 7 years old, it’s been painfully slow opening catalog, editing etc. The Surface Book was able to do all these tasks much, much faster. The benefit of being able to disconnect the tablet is that I can show photos to my family without carrying around the laptop. Much friendlier to hold and swipe through vacation photos.
I enlisted my son’s help, an Engineering student in HS, to test the laptop with Autodesk Inventor Professional. The Surface Book performed perfectly and comparable to the desktops he uses in school. He created a sword using Inventor.
I also used the laptop for general applications such as Microsoft Office and Ameritrade Think or Swim, no issues running any applications of course. I didn’t even hear a fan kick off while running these programs.
Conclusion:
Overall this is a beautiful, capable laptop that is light weight, the tablet mode was executed very nicely by the engineers at Microsoft. I can wholeheartedly say it’s a great laptop and a great tablet! Just getting the weight down to something I wouldn’t mind carrying but has the computing power to work flawlessly with Adobe and Autodesk applications is amazing to me. There are some minor issues, as I’ve mentioned in my review, but nothing that’s a deal breaker. The price is on the high side, I would say this is the biggest negative.
