Portland homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) knew his job meant serving and protecting the human world, but the day he learned he was one of a long line of supernatural guardians charged with policing the "wesen" (the unseen beings known only from fairy tales and folklore), his whole life changed. Extras include deleted scenes, gag reels, featurettes and more.

Not every episode will be great

It's hard not to love a show with a comely apothecary, and it's impossible not to love the new season of Grimm. I have been a season ticket holder for Grimm since day numero uno! I like Sci-Fi & Fantasy so this fits right in to my tastes. I even watch reruns; bingeing on my days off. For those who disparage this show, I say "watch something The writing, production and character development are exceptional. Yeah, there may be some stretching of character identities throughout, but let's give the writers/produces a break to evolve the story. Not every episode will be great, but what show has that? To you in control: keep the story line flowing & growing. Don't forget the path of the river lest you run into a waterfall.

It's very different than back when it started

I still love this show, but the tone is changing. I'm not sure that's a bad thing going into it's 9th year. If the tone had stayed exactly the same the show would have gotten stale by now.
But things are definitely changing.
Sheldon is the biggest change. He's gotten a lot more human. That actually makes sense because he's been surrounded by social people for 8 plus years now. Even Sheldon would have had to pick up a thing or two. And as much as I love the season 1 Sheldon, that act would have gotten completely old by now had his character not expanded a little. He's still Sheldon, but Amy has softened him up a bit. This season he's dealing with Amy breaking up with him because their relationship was going no where. The comedy is that Sheldon in 30 years old and is going through dating and breakups for the first time so he's reacting to it like normal people do when they are 16. It's funny.
Leonard hasn't changed much since the beginning. But his relationship with Penny has. It continues to evolve, and I'm not sure I like it anymore. It was fun watching them in the first few seasons realizing they liked each other. But now they don't seem to like each other. The season starts where season 8 ended, with them headed to Vegas to get married. (I won't tell you what happens) But I can't help but feel like they shouldn't get married. They are already an old boring couple who doesn't seem to like each other. There is ZERO chemistry between them.
I'm still enjoying the Howard and Bernadette marriage. That was a good change for the show. Howard would have become insufferable by now in his original form. The marriage works well for the show. These two have on screen chemistry and great comic timing with one another.
With Raj starting to get more social and having been able to talk to women without being drunk for several seasons now, Stuart has taken over the role as the lovable pathetic loser on the show. That starts getting pushed harder at the start of season 9.
If I started watching this show in season 9 I don't think I'd like it. But I'm invested in the characters at this point so I love seeing how they continue to develop.

Low definition release, high-brow, fun and action

One of my favorite "new"(-er) shows. Scorpion never ceases to amaze me with new twists and challenges every episode. These characters must be living in the spiritual shadow of a giant "Murphy's Law" book!
I look forward to each episode with breathless anticipation... which is why the networks are ASPHYXIATING me! With the vast stretches of time between seasons (and sometimes episodes) it is difficult to keep up with continuity in most, recent shows (including Scorpion). As the series become more sophisticated and involved, even a show NOT entrenched entirely in a serialized format (like Scorpion) can leave your mind reeling, trying to keep up... But, that is a rant for another place.
It DOES however lead to the absolute necessity of owning every season of our beloved shows as they are released, so you can dip back into that delicious goodness and keep oneself satiated between broadcast showings.
This second season release of “Scorpion,” like the first season, leaves me scratching my head: Why no blu ray? Sure, Scorpion isn't known for its spectacular, effects laden visuals, but out of principle, this is a show about high IQs and high technology... If these characters were in the real world, they would likely scoff at the idea of their show being available in only one format, and in the LAST generation one at that. I know the absence of a blu ray boggled my mind when Season One was released, and here I am again. Paramount? Given the sophistication of the characters, story, and presumably the audience, why not upgrade these releases and use the additional storage space to present extra features to complement the show? I can imagine an entire franchise of a "Mythbusters" theme, trying to keep up with the feats on this show. Or if not special content, with fewer discs, a "green" release of the season, in reduced packaging could offer an impactful statement which I believe the characters and creators of the show would approve (as well as bringing down production costs for the release).
Scorpion, the series, is high-brow, high-octane action, wrapped in high-dramatic (drama/comedy) goodness. How about a high-definition release as well?

I was so excited this series got revived on Netflix. We've been watching this show from the beginning & the writing and acting are topnotch. I was so angry when A&E cancelled it despite good ratings. Makes no sense to me. I like crime procedurals/murder mysteries etc, so I added this to out TIVO to do list & never looked back. It's really excellent. If you're looking for a show with explosions & all the cast are overly model looking 20-somethings with a convoluted plot, this show is not for you. The people are very real and they don't force a zillion overly dramatic plots in one episode. It can even be a little laid back, but fascinating and worth following all the way. It takes place in Wyoming, in a semi rural area near a reservation. There always seems to be some tension between the Native Americans & just about everyone else, as they like to keep to themselves & deal with their own issues. Those issues sometimes spill over outside the reservation & issues outside the reservation sometimes spill in. The Sheriff Longmire is a bit of a technophobe. It's a bit of an ongoing annoyance with others, esp as he doesn't carry a cellphone. He's friends with running Bear, played by Lou Diamond Phillips. Their longstanding friendship is believable and wonderful to watch. If you like crime shows, Westerns or just really good dramas, you should check this show out.

“Quantico: The Complete First Season” is a continuing ABC-TV mystery drama. Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra), a trainee at the FBI Academy at Quantico in Virginia, is suspected of having masterminded the most lethal attack on New York City since 9/11. Now a fugitive from the law, Alex races against time in her search for the truth, looking at others in her training class as possible suspects and betraying her closest friends and colleagues when necessary to identify the real culprit and prevent further acts of terror.
Structurally, the story arc resembles that of “The Fugitive,” in which an innocent individual accused of murder eludes the authorities to search for the real killer. Flashbacks tell Alex’s story and the stories of her fellow recruits at Quantico.
Casting a woman of Indian ethnicity as the star of a primetime drama is unusual for the networks, but TV has been more encompassing of minority talent than movies. Ms. Chopra parlayed her Miss World 2000 crown into a career an actress and singer. She had an extensive, successful career in Bollywood movies.
The 5-disc DVD set contains all 22 widescreen episodes of the show’s first season. Bonus features include audio commentary by Priyanka Chopra, bloopers, deleted scenes, and several making-of featurettes.

the show is still good, lack of Blu-ray sucks

+++Warning, this will contain some spoilerish material from previous seasons, but no major giveaways from season 5. If you have not seen the prior seasons proceed at your own risk. +++
Chances are, by now everyone knows what the show is. In some ways it has a similar feel to what is has since it found its footing as a show. In other ways this season was different. It still kept the case-of-the week, intertwined with larger story lines. Chin got one of the larger arcs after having found out who killed his father last season, his father's killer becomes an increasing foil throughout the season. Danny got a couple larger arcs over the season, one expanding the story around his brother who we last saw escaping in a plane, and the other involving Rachel working her way back into his life.
I think the one thing the show is suffering from now is having too large an ensemble cast. With the addition of Chi McBride and Jorge Garcia as series regulars, there is just not enough for everyone to do. As a result we see the team split much more, sometimes with a couple members working on an different part of the case (or a totally different case) or some characters totally absent in a given episode. The stand out episode, to me, of the season was the 100th episode which re-told the events of the pilot episode if things had turned out differently, and culminated in another Steve vs Wo-Fat showdown. This season also saw the return of Terry O'Quinn as Joe White for a few episodes and Michelle Borth as Catherine in the season finale. The season finale also set up what is likely to be the main arc of Season 6.
For those who get the discs, obviously as the title implies the lack of blu ray sucks. This is one of the shows going the cheap route and only releasing it on DVD. While the picture and sound are okay, those who get the discs are robbed of the HD experience we got the first few seasons. Extras are similar to what they have been before. Deleted scenes on many episodes. Limited commentary tracks (I think only 1 or 2 episodes had one this year) and then on the final disc a few behind the scenes features and a gag reel. There is also a feature on Daniel Dae Kim's directorial debut. Good for what is there.
All in all, the season is good. I wraps up some story lines, and sets up others. The action on the series continues to be top notch and the stories are still engaging. If you can live with the lack of blu ray the DVDs are worth getting, but if that is a deal breaker or you do not care about the extras then streaming it is probably the way to go.

As a comic book and super hero fan, I truly am enjoying the Flash as a TV series. The writing is decent, the acting is tolerable, and let's face it---who wouldn't want to run at super speed? Season 2 is picking up nicely with a combination of fighting bad guys, romantic and other relationships being developed, and an underlying story-line that will set the tone for the entire season and keep you guessing about where this is all heading. If you're looking for a series with good, clean super-hero fun, I recommend the Flash!

If you Haven't watch the movie, you should but you don't really have to in order to appreciate this show. That said, if you watched the movie, you will love how well integrated to the movie story this series is, and to be honest I love when this happens, so smooth that you feel like you are watching a continuation to the movie but not really because it can go without it. great FX's and the main character plays it well too, hope more people like it and they keep making it.

Fantastic Season Opener!

When we last saw Barry Allen in season 1, he was desperately trying to stop a vortex from swallowing Central City. It was definitely a dramatic way to cap off the season and left the audience wanting for more. Season 2 didn't start off with a bang, but it paced along very well. It doesn't continue immediately from the ending of season 1, but rather 6 months after. You'd think that the disaster level event would have brought the team closer, but it actually left the team worse off. Barry taking the events that occurred especially hard, putting the blame on himself.
I'm very excited to see how this show will continue to develop as the weeks go by. This show's potential is limitless as they continue to introduce iconic Flash characters from the comics. Atom Smasher looked great for the most part. The costume design, especially the helmet, looked amazing, but the awkward looking CGI did throw me off a bit. Anyways, can't wait to watch more of this season, I know it's going to be great!

Solid Season

This season of Arrow is all about Team Arrow, vs dark magic, in the form of Damien Dhark, played by the great character villain Neal McDonough. As has been the tradition of Arrow and Flash they took a comic book character and added to it, in this case giving Dhark magic power through a totem, and as a result he becomes one of the most powerful opponents for the team ever. There are also tie backs to the prior season with Malcolm now the head of the League of Assassins, resolving the Sara Lance story line (with help from Constantine), as well as the effects of the Lazarus Pit on Thea. Oliver and Felicity start out happy and content with their new non-vigilante life after riding off into the sunset, but that is cut short by Dhark's attempts to take down Star City.
Of course there is also the major death that is hinted at from the very first episode. I will not spoil it for those who do not know, but the show goes out of its way to make sure we know the death is permanent (which given all the back from the dead moments the show has had in its run is something). However given that it exists in a universe where The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow (and even Arrow to some extent because of the flashbacks) play with time, and the fact that the actor whose character was killed off reportedly has a contract to be a series regular across all the DC Universe shows (now presumably including Supergirl), we should see a different incarnation of the character. While I think the suspense of the reveal of the death was better than the actual execution of it, it did make for a lot of touching moments toward the end of the season.
The flashbacks this season again revolve around the island, and this time the reveal of the magic totem that Dhark ends up using in the present. There are no Slade Wilson sightings this year, and one cameo from Shado, but that is it for the prior seasons flashback characters. It is an okay story, but not as strong as the prior flashback stories we have seen, and still no indication of what lead up to Oliver's rescue in season 1.
For those who get the blu-rays, the show looks and sounds great again. There is still no play all option, so if you stop watching you have to find your place again. For extras there are deleted scenes for many episodes, a gag reel, part of the comic con panel discussion, the crossover Flash Episode, and a couple features on the new characters from the crossover which lead to Legends of Tomorrow's plot. There is also a short feature on the character of Damien Dhark and what they wanted to do with him in the show vs the comics. Good for what is there. Also, like with season 3, you are just paying for the blu-rays and not having to get DVDs included as well.
Most people likely know where they stand on the show by now. While I do not think it is necessarily as strong as prior seasons have been, it was solid. They continue to develop characters, as well as add new ones to the mix, and while there is no big cliffhanger this season, the team is in disarray by the end, so many people will be interested to see where they take the story from here.
