Impressive Ear-Hook Fit For Sports Exercise & Work
on June 28, 2019
Posted by: pauldar
from North Florida
Have always had issues with earbuds fitting securely enough to withstand vigorous running, jogging, and strenuous physical activities around my house and yard. So, I had an opportunity to select the JLAB - JBuds Air Sport True Wireless In-Ear Headphones in exchange for an honest review. I was curious to see how these earbuds would perform through all my exercise and work activities in the hot and humid climate of North Florida.
After two weeks of running and jogging several miles early, every morning on hard-surfaced asphalt; cutting down trees, and de-limbing each one; then, loading the cut-tree sections onto my tractor cart, and stacking them up; picking up all the leftover debris, leaves and branches of the cut-down trees, and disposing them in my 'burn-pit' . . . . here is what I love about these earbuds, and, found after strenuous work, the features that can be improved or added, IMHO.
***Absolutely Love These Features***
***Ear-Hook Fit*** - The JLAB designers have hit a home run with this ergonomic design. The earbuds fit securely and comfortably over both my ears (right ear is larger than the left). So, I believe they would fit anyone's ears snug and comfortably too, whether large or small. I have worn these earbuds outdoors for approximately four hours each day and neither one has even come close to falling off my ears during heavy exercise or hard work. I have tried to shake them off my head, and, even pounding the pavement while running they continue to be secure. They are featherweight at slightly over half an ounce (.57 oz or 16.1 grams). I have had three different sets of 'gym and sport' earbuds before, but none could compare to the impressive fit of this JLAB Airsport. These earbuds are well-made and well-designed. They should last for years under heavy use. WooHoo!
***Earbuds*** - Each earbud has a silicone tip and the ear hook is very flexible, but does not stress my ear while I wear it. JLAB includes three gel eartips, S, M, and L. Additionally, they included two 'cloud foam' eartips. A good fit in the ear canal enhances the audio quality and provides a good degree of Passive Noise Cancellation. The 'cloud foam' tips performed the best for me and enhanced the audio quality, especially while using the Bass Boost EQ.
***Sweat & Moisture Resistant*** - These Airsport Earbuds have an IP66 rating, which means they are dust tight and moisture resistant to powerful jets of water spray. For exercise or work they will hold up to sweat and even rain. After using them each day I clean the earbuds using a disposable, antibacterial wipe. When they are completely clean and dry I put them back in their furnished, Charging Case.
***Intuitive Touch Controls*** - By just tapping either the right or left earbud, touch sensor I can initiate the following Intuitive Controls: Tapping the LEFT, Touch Sensor ONCE for Decrease in Volume; TWICE to enable my Voice Assistant, Siri, or, Google for Android; Track Back is ONE Tap for One Second; THREE Taps to change and cycle through the EQ Settings; Power ON is Press and Hold for Three Seconds. Tapping the RIGHT, Touch Sensor ONCE for Increase in Volume; TWICE for Play/Pause; Track Forward is Press and Hold for ONE Second; Answer an Incoming Phone Call is ONE Single Tap. And, TWO Taps in order to Hang Up; To Reject an Incoming Phone Call is Press and Hold for One Second; Be Aware ON/OFF is a TRIPLE Tap; Power ON is Press and Hold for Three Seconds.
***EQ Settings*** - There are three choices of EQ Presets. Jlab Signature, which amplifies both vocals and bass. Balanced, which offers a mid-range combination. And, Bass Boost, which amplifies bass and sub-bass like that of a kick-drum. Having your earbud fit properly in your ear canal makes all the differences in taking advantage of these EQ Presets. The background noises must be sealed out by the gel eartip. I mostly use the Signature EQ setting, but, occasionally I use the Bass Boost for the rumble of the bass in certain music genres to inspire me while I am running and working hard. YooHoo!
***Be Aware Audio*** - This feature allows me turn surrounding background noises OFF or allow them to pass-through, ON. This is a necessary feature for me when I am running or jogging near the roadways early in the morning with little daylight. It allows me to hear traffic coming towards me.
***Bluetooth 5.0*** - Provides fast and reliable pairing and connections when the Airsport Earbuds are taken out of their Charging Case. They pair back to the last mobile device used. However, they can only BT pair to one device at a time. They do not have a registry to remember multiple devices. But, immediately after taking them out of their protective Charging Case they are ready to enable Hands-Free phone calls.
***Charging Case*** - JLAB developed a unique charging case with a self-contained USB adapter for charging in any standard PC, USB port or 5V, 1A output device. I use my I-Phone charger plug to charge the case. It takes approximately one and a half hours to fully charge the earbuds and three hours to fully charge the case. The earbuds provide six hours of use and the charging case adds another thirty-four hours of use for a total of forty hours of use. WoW!The hard plastic case provides good protection for storage, while charging, and for packing when traveling too.
***Voice Prompts*** - These automatically chime in for battery status, 'Battery Full', 'Battery Medium', and 'Low Battery. Other voice prompts include, 'Hello', 'Earbuds Joined', 'Ready to Pair', 'Bluetooth Connected', and 'Goodbye'. Nice to be aware of these announcements.
***Stereo Phone Calls*** - I do not know of any other earbuds that provide stereo audio calling. My phone contacts come in crystal clear and sound dynamic, as if they were physically near me, when I hear them speak. Great feature.
***Improvements Could Be Made And Added Setting***
***Audio Quality*** - The audio quality is very good, but could be much better. Jlab uses the ACC codec, which delivers good quality sound, but not CD quality sound over BT like Sony's LDAC, or Qualquam aptX, along with Apple ALAC, High Resolution Codecs. I realize the JBUDS Airsport was made specifically for sports, exercise, and work, where High Resolution Audio Sound Quality may not be as discernible. But, when these are worn without the numerous background noises and distractions – High Resolution Sound would greatly be appreciated.
***ON/OFF Setting For Earbuds*** - The Auto ON & Connect feature is super nice. But installing these earbuds into my ears for a good fit makes me engage the Touch Sensor repeatedly while it is ON. It takes a couple of minutes sometimes to figure out what to do to get these earbuds back to the Hands-Free phone call stage. If there was a manual Touch Sensor setting to turn the earbuds OFF while installing them in my ears – It would be just a matter of turning them back ON and ready for use.
***Conclusion*** - For its price point JLAB has packed a lot of features into this JBuds Air Sport True Wireless In-Ear Headphones. Although I think the audio could be improved they are bang-up quality for their intended audience and use. They are hands down the best fitting earbuds I have ever used. No matter what I am doing I am confident that these earbuds would never fall off. I highly recommend the purchase of the earbuds for yourself, a friend or family member, who is physically active. Five Stars.

Home Office & Mobile Business - Essential
on June 27, 2019
Posted by: pauldar
from North Florida
I was eager to select this Voyager Legend BT Headset to review in exchange for the product. Having a headset that is designed especially for phone conversations in all kinds of environments, is essential for me because I receive and make dozens of calls a day as a part-time, construction consultant. I can go anywhere with this headset as long as I am connected to my Smart Phone or other cellular devices. However, I use this headset more in my home office for phone calls because my stored data bases are there. I travel several times a month for on-site evaluations in the field. I was impressed using this Voyager Headset while on the road as to how it silenced most of the road noises while I was wearing it. This Plantronics Voyager Legend provides me with all the features for effective business communications. I love it.
For over two weeks I have used this headset in my home office and on the road. Here's what I love about this headset:
***Audio Quality*** - When I am talking to clients they can hear me crystal clear because of the three mics, which help to cancel out background noises and emphasize my voice over all the weather, road, and construction-activity noises. I can hear them with clear and crisp audio quality because of the background noise suppression. When I travel out of town I use a GPS to get me to my final destination as many of these construction projects are out in remote areas. My GPS is BT to my phone, so I get all the audio directions through my Voyager Legend Headset without noisy road interference. WooHoo!
***Intuitive Controls*** - As soon as I put this headset on my ear it is ready to receive and make calls for me. It has what Plantronics calls Smart Sensor Technology. The headset knows when I am wearing it and when I'm not. With this headset off my ear it reverts all phone calls back to my Smart Phone and stops any audio streaming, like Pandora music, I was using at the time. I use Siri on my Apple Smart phone to make and receive calls. It is so easy, convenient, and hands free. Your Google or MS Cortana Voice Assistant can also be enabled to make or receive calls on this Voyager headset by pressing the 'Call' Button. Just enable your Phone's Assistant on your Smart Phone and press the Voyager's 'Call' button. What I really like is that this Voyager headset announces who is calling (it accesses my Smart Phone's Contact List) and allows me to Answer or Ignore. I love this Artificial Intelligence feature. If there is no announcement of my caller, the caller is either unlisted or unknown. It helps me to avoid those nuisance robocalls. YIKES! There are only four buttons on this Voyager Headset; On/OFF, Volume UP/Down, Multi-Functional Call Button (enables Siri, My Voice Assistant & BT Pairing), Multi-Functional Voice Command Button (Tap Voice Button for list of Voice Commands like Pairing, Battery Level, Call Back, etc.) I was pleasantly surprised how easy the learning curve is for this Voyager Legend Headset. But, be aware the control buttons are small and it takes a little getting used too. After two days of constant use I was up and running.
***Other Features***
* Talk Time – Up to seven hours when fully charged. Voice alerts tell me how much "Talk-time (x) hours" I have left, "Battery low", and "Recharge headset" are also announced.
* Downloadable Software – Although mobile or PC software is not needed to operate the Voyager Legend Headset, I downloaded the Plantronics MyHeadset™Updater tool for Win 10, PC to review, and, make any changes to my existing Voyager Headset settings. Under 'Special Mode Settings' there is an option to change the voice commands setting to other languages. I did change the voice to HD quality, but changed it back quickly because it consumed too much battery life, and, the Voyager audio quality is already quite good. Firmware for this Voyager can also be updated through this free software, and it is available for both Windows and Mac at the Apple App Store or Google Play. I simply plugged my headset into the USB port of my PC. The same can be done for MAC. The free PLT Hub can also be downloaded on any mobile Smart Phone, either Android or IOS. I downloaded it to my Apple Smart Phone, and it gives me a visual battery meter, a User Manual of sorts, and an app that can help me find my headset if it is lost using loud sound tones. How cool is that?
* Magnetic Charger – This is a proprietary charger that magnetically snap-fits onto the Voyager headset base. It is a simple set-up, but easily undone. A full charge takes approximately one hour and twenty minutes from my experiences.
* Lightweight – At first glance this headset looks heavy and bulky. However, it weighs a little over a half of an ounce (.6 oz or 18 grams).
* Fit – Although this headset is designed to be worn in either the right or left ears, it is not adjustable enough to compensate for larger ears, like my right ear. I can only wear this headset on my left ear. But it is super comfortable for me to wear for many hours. Unable to wear this headset on my right ear is not a deal breaker for me. But, it is something to be aware of before you purchase this headset, especially if you also have larger size ears.
* Silicone Eartips – The Voyager Legend furnishes three sizes of silicone eartips, (S, M & L) with foam eartip covers for Small and Medium. The eartips simply lock into the headset by turning to the right, and out by turning to the left.
* Moisture Protection – The manufacture states this headset is sweat proof. I can vouch for that since I live and work in North Florida where the weather is on 'Roasting' this Summer. They are coated with P2i nano-coating for sweat and moisture protection. YooHoo! I simply wipe them out with a disposable, antibacterial wipe after hours of being outdoors and perspiring in the hot sun.
* One year warranty from date of purchase.
***Conclusion***
Simply stated this Voyager Legend BT Headset furnishes a lot of technology for business voice communications, and its price point. If you have a home office, or on the road, and make or receive lotsa' phone calls this baby is for you. The 'who-is-calling-announcement' is my favorite feature. I highly recommend the purchase of this Voyager Legend BT Headset for yourself, family member or friend, whose job requires numerous phone calls. Five Stars.

Good Audio, Intuitive Controls & Feature Packed
on June 20, 2019
Posted by: pauldar
from North Florida
I was excited to select these Skullcandy Push Truly Wireless Earbuds in exchange for the earbuds and an honest review. Since I live in North Florida I am able to enjoy the great outdoors year 'round. So, my earbuds must be able to perform in my humid climate. One of the many features of these earbuds is their IPX4 rating, which is both sweat and water resistant. For me an absolute must.
For the past three weeks I have used these earbuds everyday, especially while doing my outdoor yard chores. I live on a six-acre, wooded parcel and there is always something that needs my attention, and I love listening to music while I work. So, I am going to begin my review with what I have learned using these earbuds everyday:
***What I love about using these Skullcandy earbuds?***
AUDIO - The audio quality is always the main reason why we purchase any set of earbuds. For the first-time version of Truly Wireless earbuds, Skullcandy has done a credible job. The sound quality is surprising for the value of these earbuds. The low and mid-ranges are emphasized leaving treble and clear voice in the background, but not drowned out. IF you get these buds nestled correctly in your ears, the rich bass at the low ranges is exciting, especially for walks, runs, and physical workouts. However, there is no EQ, or pre-set adjustments, nor any high-end codecs to deliver high resolution, audio quality over Bluetooth.
In summary you get bang-up audio quality, overall, in comparison to other earbuds at this price point, IMHO. I have three other, more expensive earbuds, and Skullcandy is equal in features and competitive in audio quality. WooHoo!
INTUITIVE CONTROLS – There is a button (about the size of a dime) on each bud towards the bottom of each earbud. The button on each earbud (Left or Right) features ON/OFF controls, Volume, Pairing to Smart Phones, Making and Receiving Phone Calls, Changing Tracks, and my favorite, Activate Voice Assistant, particular to either 'L' or 'R' earbud, or both. See User Manual for specifics. The auto-ON and auto-OFF features by placing the earbuds back in their case, or taking them out is super cool. There is an easy-learning-curve to these control buttons, but, you have to use these buds for several days. I felt comfortable of mastering these controls after four days of constant use. In addition to these simple controls you get 'Voice-Announcements' like when you are connected to BT, Earbuds 'ON', or 'OFF', etc.
PAIRING TO MY DEVICES – What I found to be really unique is that these Skullcandy buds not only easily pair to my mobile phones, but, PC, Tablet, Laptop, I-Pad, MP3 Player, Switch, PS4, etc. They pair to any of your devices unlike many other wireless, BT earbuds. They don’t support multi-device pairing and can only connect to one Bluetooth source at a time. They have no registry to remember all of your other devices. Also, keep in mind that there is a latency (lag time delay), which makes these buds not very good for use in any kind of gaming. They use a 4.2 BT Interface, which is as simple as it gets.
DESIGN & FIT – The overall design with lightweight plastic body and gel 'Fit' ear hook had fooled me. At first glance these buds look bulky and heavy – far from the truth. Skullcandy provides three pair of gel ear cup inserts for varied fit. Surely, one pair will fit you comfortably, so you can enjoy the robust sound quality of these earbuds. TIP – Install each earbud as far as it will go comfortably in your ear canal for more impressive sound and more secure fit. I was impressed after wearing these buds outside for over four hours each day, and, sweating because of the heat and humidity, they have NOT stressed my ears and remained comfortable to wear. YooHoo!
SMART PHONE CALLS – It is super easy to answer and end a phone call. Just touch either 'R' or 'L' button once to answer a call, or end a call. My favorite phone use is through the Voice Assistant feature (SIRI for me to make calls). You can use whatever Voice Assistant on your Smart Phone is available and is enabled, and, or Alexa. It is easy to activate by simply pressing either the 'L' or 'R' earbud three times. Be aware that phone calls are heard over the 'L' ear bud only and are 'mono'. The mic is also on the Left earbud, and is of decent audio quality and clearly heard by your party.
RECHARGEABLE BATTERY – I was able to use my Skullcandy earbuds for over five and a half hours before I had to recharge them by placing the earbuds back in their protective case. Fully charged in their case the buds can give you up to twelve hours of listening time. WoW!
It took me approximately two hours to fully charge the earbuds in their case using the furnished and latest, USB 'C' cable. You can also charge the case with your PC, laptop, etc, as long as it has a USB Port. The case has four LED Blue Indicator lights to give you the battery status. You can depress the button just under the LED lights for the battery-charge status at any time.
***What I think needs to improve these Skullcandy earbuds?***
FIT – The gel 'FIT' ear piece is too short for my ears to retain them securely (OK, I have big ears). However, I'm guessing I am not alone in this issue. This makes me wonder just how secure these earbuds would be for gym workouts, and running, or jogging? However, my wife says they fit her ears securely enough for physical workouts and running (She has 'normal' sized ears). Skullcandy, please look into redesigning your FIT gel ear piece for Big-Eared folks like me.
High Resolution Codecs – High Resolution codecs deliver CD quality sound over Bluetooth. aptX HD and LDAC along with Apple ALAC would enhance the already good sound to great sound quality. Please look into Skullcandy for your next upgrade into Truly Wireless Earbuds.
CONTROL BUTTON – The control button on each earbud is too large in comparison to the size of the earbud body. Consider making the button much smaller. It took me two weeks to figure it out. It was so confusing trying to insert the buds into my ears while NOT touching the buttons – YUK! Since the earbuds were 'ON', while I tried inserting them correctly into my ears I inadvertently touched the Control Button and changed the settings 'to who knows what'. I eventually learned to manually shutoff the earbuds when I took them out of their case 'till they were inserted correctly in my ears. Then, I turned them 'ON' - so much easier. . . .
CONCLUSION - The Skullcandy Push Truly Wireless Earbuds are a great value for the quality audio and features of these FUN earbuds. I love them because I can use them and enjoy their sound quality outside in the Florida heat & humidity. They have some 'shortcomings', but not enough for me to give them less than five stars. . . . These earbuds would make a great gift for that 'physically-active' family member or friend. They are inexpensive when you consider the multi-functional features and sound quality.

Designed For Gaming – Fantastic Sound/Versatility
on June 17, 2019
Posted by: pauldar
from North Florida
IMHO – This Astro Gaming – A40 TR Wired Stereo Gaming Headset with MixAmp Pro TR Controller is the closest a gamer can get to professional-level, engrossing, multi-dimensional sound. I selected this Astro Stereo Gaming Headset in exchange for an honest review. Wow! I was absolutely blown-away by the penetrating sound dimensions and nuances. The absolute, main reason we buy any headset is for the sound quality. Logitech has developed this headset specifically for gaming. And, they have hit a home run. I have been a audiophile from the early 60's building stereo sets for family and friends. Loved building speakers to reproduce rich, energizing, immersive sound magnitudes to match the recording artist's dynamics. Although this unit is not exactly my favorite headset for all music genres, it does make gaming lively and phenomenal for gaming sounds. My Grand Kids 'hooked' me on games because as a Grandpa I needed to bond with them in the things they were interested in and loved to do. So, at 75 I am probably one of the oldest practicing gamers around..... My Grand Kids have figured out that they can eventually best Grandpa because his fingers are just not as nimble on the controller as theirs are. However, every once in a while Grandpa gets 'lucky'. While they are in school I get to practice and explore all the tips and tricks – Bring it ON. WooHoo!
What do I love about this Astro Gaming Headset and MixAmp?
***AUDIO EXCELLENCE*** - ASTRO Audio™ V2 provides the best gaming-theme, digital sound of the particular game that you are playing. Dolby Audio Surround Sound and optional Dolby Atmos. When it comes to background nuances and multi-dimensional sounds gamers like me love to hear, this Astro has no equal. It is designed for serious gamers. I certainly am not one, but I thoroughly enjoy that the percussion sounds are so realistic, and, the background voices, unique sounds only in gaming competitions are so realistic and professional-like. Mic quality is outstanding. My Grand Kids tell me they hear me clear and loud. Love it. The unique high sounds frequently give away enemy positions (Grand Kids). I have listened to Pandora music genres on this headset, and I was super impressed. It is not what this headset is intended for, but proves its versatility and high-quality of sound reproduction. YooHoo!
***MIX AMP PRO TR*** - Intuitive controls put my game to voice equalization, master volume control and my choice of four different EQ settings at my convenience. It features Dolby® Digital Surround Sound processing and supports Windows Sonic. I can control the volume of the mic, game, connect to Xbox, PC, Stream, auxiliary, and daisy chain, which provides connection to multiple units and several players at the same time. This unit enables voice lag-free communication and 2 year Dolby Atmos® activation included with Xbox One licensed products to enhance the headset with spatialized object audio (Xbox One and Windows 10 PC only). One of the greatest attributes I like is the balancing between game and voice. I can shout out instructions, or, other words and expressions my Grand Kids love to hear while they are 'cleaning-my-sox'.
***COMFORTABLE FIT & BUILD*** – This is a quality - built headset. The composite, plastic, adjustable headband and ear cup holders are strong, durable, yet lightweight. The ear cups are made of a comfortable fabric, richly cushioned, and easily worn over both of my ears. After several hours of 'gaming' with my Grand Kids my ears feel refreshed, and, not stressed.
Mod Kits are available and include: Noise-Isolating Ear Cushion, Voice-Isolating, Padded Headband, and Closed-Back Speaker Tags. The ear cups are held in place by magnets and easily interchangeable.
***CUSTOM SETTINGS*** – I can customize my headset through the Astro Command Center software making changes to my Astro Mix Amp Pro. It is FREE and available for download for PC and IOS (see pics). This piece of equipment is invaluable for gaming audio settings, and switching from PC to XBOX, daisy chain, auxiliary, and streaming. I set my audio to 'Tournament' because the dynamic audio inspires me to be a better player (see pics). YIKES!
***CONCLUSION*** - As the old saying goes, “you get what you pay for”. This Astro Gaming – A40 TR Wired Stereo Gaming Headset with MixAmp Pro TR Controller is undoubtedly the bestest Headset on the gaming market. After two weeks of constant use, I highly recommend this unit, for gamers, who want the very finest in audio sound, which translates to making you a more focused and better player..... I love it! This makes a extraordinary gift for that special family member or friend, or, for your own personal elevation joy of gaming. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Latest Tech, AI Engineering, Extraordinary Sound
on May 21, 2019
Posted by: pauldar
from North Florida
When I selected the Jabra Elite 85h BT Over-The-Ear Headphones for a comprehensive review in exchange for the headphones, I was very curious to explore the newer technological features. I consider myself an audiophile since I started building stereo sound systems in the early 60's for family and friends. I was totally fascinated with sound reproduction and to this day I love listening to music over the highest quality audio equipment I can afford. As an 'Old-School' music lover I have an extensive record collection and enjoy listening to them several times a week through my turntable connected to my amp-receiver and high-end speakers. However, sound technology, especially wireless, has opened up a whole new world for me and offers me freedom from connected audio cables. While devouring the technology specs of this Jabra 85H I immediately found the AI (Artificial Intelligence) engineered into these headphones with Jabra SmartSound. A outstanding feature from audEERING goes over and above any other active noise cancellation (ANC) solutions available. SmartSound includes environmental adjustments, which automatically aligns to my ever-changing surroundings from street sounds, yard noise, office noises, crowds, and even weather. I love it! Normally I would start my review with sound quality. However, because of the spectacular, advanced, technology features, this is where I am going to begin.
*** Technology ***
> Passive Noise Cancellation - The Passive NC is actually the fit of the over-the-ear earphones. They are snug and comfortable and have a padded top and two large ear cups covered with soft leatherette material that rest comfortably against my ears. WooHoo! The headphones slide on a band over my head and are easily adjustable. They weigh approximately ten and a half ounces – very light.
> Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) - The Jabra Elite has eight microphones, four of them are used by the digital ANC to filter out background noises. SmartSound, when activated in the Free Jabra App, or, the headphone mics will gather information from your surroundings and switch between different 'Moments' automatically. However, I have discovered that this may take up to ten seconds to change environments. 'Moments' are categorized as Commute, Public, and Private. Be aware: If you wear glasses like I do, have long hair covering your ears, or any clothing, covering your ears – these may affect the quality of your ANC.
> Voice Assistant – Connection to Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant is available by pressing the 'Voice Button' on the RIGHT earphone. I can use voice commands to make calls, send or receive messages. How cool is that?
> Phone Calls - When I use this phone feature six of the eight mics give me spectacular wireless call quality. Jabra is the industry leader in high quality, professional headsets. For incoming and outgoing phone calls this set is superior to anything else I have ever used.
> Auto ON & OFF - There is no ON or OFF button. When I take this headphone set out of its carrying case, and twist to place on my ears, they turn ON automatically, and like wise, when I return it back to the case, folding it inwards, they turn OFF.
> Ear Detection - There is a sensor system inside each earcup that automatically pauses or plays when you take OFF or put ON the headphones. WoW!
> Bluetooth Version – Jabra 85h uses the latest BT version, 5.0. My I-Phone quickly connected to the Jabra, and remembers its registry. My wife's Samsung did the same. In fact the Jabra H85 can connect to two different devices at the same time and up to eight devices in its registry.
> Intuitive Controls – Easy learning curve. After three weeks of using these cans daily I love how easy it is to just pick them up, twist, and place over my ears. Presto, they are ON and ready to pair, or immediately connect to the last mobile device they were 'paired' with. If someone needs my attention, I simply take the cans off and they automatically pause. They resume when I put them back on. Love it! The RIGHT headphone has the Voice Button to activate your Voice Assistant. A USB-C charging port and an RCA 3.5 mm Audio Jack for connection to outside audio devices. On the outside of the earphone is a Multi-function Button for pairing and phone calls. On the top side of the Multi-function Button is the Volume Up Button, and the Volume Down Button is beneath it. The LEFT earphone only has one button, Sounds Mode. I can turn the ANC ON or OFF, engage 'Hear-Through', and cycle through Moments.
> Jabra Sound App – The Jabra Sound App is FREE and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play. It is a multi-functional App, which allows me to set many music and listening settings. Impressive! Important – If you register your Jabra 85H through the Java Sound App your warranty is good for Two Years. Otherwise, you will be limited to a one year warranty. This App has so many User-Friendly settings, it really allows you to take full control of your entire musical experience while using these fantastic headphones. NOTE – The Jabra Sound App was designed for Mobile Devices. Laptops, desktops, tablets may not have the ability for you to really enjoy using these headphones to the fullest.
> Water & Dust Resistant – Although Jabra does not specify a specific IP rating, I believe it is IP 52. This Jabra 85h has a nano-coating on the internal components and are advertised as being rain resistant. I use them out at my pool and on the patio. In any case, Jabra offers a two years' warranty for these headphones against water and dust. YooHoo!
*** Sound Quality ***
> Speakers & Sound – The Jabra speakers are 40mm and deliver crisp, clear, in-depth sound. They are targeted for the mid-ranges, frequency from 10Hz to 20kHz, with exceptional clear voice and channel separation. Impressive! The nuance sounds come clearly to the forefront and 'tickle' my ears with their refinements. These headphones are 'Ear-Candy' to my ears – not to much bass to overpower general music genres, but enough to appreciate when it needs to be emphasized. The bass can be boosted using the Jabra Sound app, but, it is never overpowering. There are six music presets: Default, Bass Boost, Smooth, Speech, Treble Boost, and Energize. I personally like the Energize preset since it reverts back to the classic 'Smile' in the EQ for most music genres.
> Versatility - Headphones feature a 3.5mm RCA Audio Jack. This jack allows me to play my vinyls through my turntable connected to my amp-receiver. I can also play my CDs or DVDs through my amp to these headphones. Fantastic! I love my vinyls. My amp has eighteen EQ frequency settings. These Jabra 85h headphones responded way beyond my expectations using my amp EQ. I organize and play my vinyls according to the music genre that strikes my mood. I adjust my amp-receiver EQ accordingly, which keeps me from having to go back and re-align the EQ playing mixed genres. When I use these headphones in wireless, BT mode through Internet Music Services, like Pandora, I do the same thing. The EQs are also impressive using the Jabra Sound App presets.
*** Other Features ***
> Battery Life - Up to thirty-six hours of battery life on a single charge. It takes me approximately two hours to fully charge these headphones. After three weeks of use I get approximately thirty hours on each charge. This unit includes a USB-C cable for charging, which is the latest tech for expediency. I can also get an additional five hours of playing time from fifteen minutes of charging time. Great!
> Carrying/Storage Case - The included zippered hard case is ideal for trips and provides protection for storage. It also has compartments for the USB-C charging cable, and flight adapter. When the headphones are placed in this case they automatically turn OFF. Cool!
*** Wish It Had ***
> High Resolution Audio (HRA) – Surprisingly, the Jabra 85h Elite does not have the Qualcom' aptX or Sony' LDAC, the latest HRA codecs designed to deliver CD quality sound over Bluetooth. However, without these codecs I was surprised at the depth of the sound field and the excellent, stereo, channel separation. No matter what genre of music playing I can hear all of the subtle background nuances to include raindrops falling and hitting roofs. Amazing!
*** Conclusion ***
> For me the most fascinating feature of this Jabra 85h Elite Headphone is the Artificial Intelligence (AI) built in to analyze the background noises of my current audio environment. If my neighbor is outside trimming his hedges, the AI will adjust the ANC to match my surroundings accordingly, and tell me what 'Moment' I am in when it changes. I am not aware of any headphones on the market today beside Jabra that features this technology. I also love that I can take these cans outside because they can take a little moisture. Again, I am not aware of any other over-the-ear headphones that are rainproof and dustproof. I highly recommend these Jabra Elite 85h Wireless Over-The-Ear Headphones – Five Stars.

Extra Bass, Lights, Feature Packed, Party Machine
on May 9, 2019

Normally, a review of a Bluetooth speaker would be focused primarily on the sound quality, depth, ranges, and audio delivery. So, when I selected the Sony SRS XB-32 for a comprehensive review in exchange for the speaker, I was absolutely astounded by the numerous, multi-dimensional features the Sony Engineers designed into this baby. As an audiophile, who has built sound systems from the early 60's, I was impressed by the
sound delivery options packaged in this BT speaker. It is an interactive, feature packed, party machine with light shows, DJ effects, and customizable sound effects. WoW!
However, I am going to start with the sound quality since this is the most important reason why people buy speakers in the first place.
*** SOUND QUALITY ***
* Sound Quality - I love the dynamic, reverberating sound of this speaker with robust bass while I play a variety of all kinds of music genres. For the size of this portable speaker the sound reproduction is absolutely amazing.
* LDAC Codec – Sony has developed this codec, which handles three times more data then SBC and delivers CD quality to an LDAC device over BT. The XB-32 features SBC, ACC, and LDAC codecs. Your mobile device has to be compatible to deliver CD quality, High Resolution Audio (HRA) through this codec. Check your mobile device's specs to see if it is. If not, you will not be able to upgrade. Your device has to have the LDAC chipset to be compatible. Apple IOS devices support ACC, not LDAC. Apple claims their ACC codec is just as good as LDAC. I am not an expert at this controversy. However, my ears tell me Sony's LDAC is the superior codec.
* Multi-Dimensional Sound – The speaker sits at a 15 degree angle to project the Live Sound in Three D. The speaker doesn't care whether it is right-side up, standing on its side, or upside down. It projects phenomenal CD quality sound with rich bass.
* PRE-SET SOUND MODES:
* Standard - Hold Volume Down and Play for 3 seconds. Power LED turns Green.
* Extra Bass - Hold Volume Down and Play for 3 seconds, then the power Indicator LED turns white when activated. Repeat to turn Extra Bass OFF. Booming bass to keep my Grand Kids happy.
* Live Sound - Depress the Live Sound button on the Topside Controls. The LED will light up white. This actually turns ON the Extra Bass, slightly increases the volume, and brings up the mid-ranges from 500 Hz upwards towards 2 kHz. It is my very favorite setting. Vibrant sound with beefy bass and clear voice. Love it!
*** SPEAKER BUILD ***
* The XB32 has fabric on the front where the drivers are located. The rest of the unit is covered in a rubberized plastic to enable firm gripping around water, and, or, if it is held for various effects while dancing with it. My Grand Kids absolutely love this feature.
* Rustproof, Waterproof, and Dustproof - This speaker has an IP67 rating, which means I can take it to my pool, hot tub, the beach, or my boat, and not be concerned about water ruining the speaker. I can use this speaker just about any place I go. WooHoo!
* Dual 48mm speaker Units - (2 x 1.89" / 48 mm) with Mica reinforced cellular speaker cones. They produce rich, dynamic sounds at the mid-ranges and robust bass.
* TOPSIDE CONTROLS –FROM RIGHT TO LEFT:
* Power Button with indicator LED and PAIRING button.
* BLUETOOTH indicator.
* -/+ (volume) buttons.
* Play/Call Button. I can receive phone calls through this speaker and make them using SIRI. Android phones can use their voice assistant to do the same.
* LIVE button with indicator – LED is white when activated.
* N-mark – For NFC pairing.
* BACK OF UNIT BEHIND WATERPROOF COVER:
* ADD (Speaker Add) button with indicator – I can also use the Sony Music App to add group speakers that are compatible (other Sony speakers).
* RESET button.
* AUDIO IN jack – 3.5 mm to connect to 'controlling' device like amp receiver, CD player, turntable, and, or Smart TV to use as auxiliary sound speaker. NOTE: When this jack is used the connecting device controls the volume and sound delivery and output. Topside controls will not work.
* CHARGE indicator – If 'Voice Activation' is selected when depressed, I will hear 70% or more: “Battery fully charged” - - 50% or more: “Battery about 70%” - - 20% or more: “Battery about 50%” - - 10% or more: “Battery about 20%” - - Less than 10%: “Please charge”.
* DC IN 5V jack – Need A/C adapter (5V) to charge this speaker. It took me approximately 2 hours to fully charge. It is designed to last approximately 24 hours on a single charge. However, doesn't include powering the lighting effects.
* DC OUT ONLY port (USB) – I can charge my mobile smart phone from this port.
* WPC (Wireless Party Chain) button with indicator – can chain up to 100 like speakers.
* BATT/LIGHT Button – To manually turn the lighting ON or OFF depress the button for about 3 seconds, the lighting function turns either ON or OFF again.
*** Sony Music App ***
* The Sony Music App can be downloaded for FREE at the Apple App Store or Google Play stores. NOTE- The Fiestable App is included in the Sony Music Center App
* Group With Other Speakers - Control multiple compatible speakers (up to 100) using the Wireless Party Chain or select the Speaker Add function.
* Access your own personal Music Library (Need to give App permission to access).
* Access directly to Pandora, Tunein Radio, etc. directly from within the App (If installed on your Smartphone).
* Access the various Illumination, Lighting Modes and select from Rave, Chill, Hot, Cool, Strobe, Calm Magenta, Calm Cyan, Calm Lime, Calm Cinnabar, Calm Daylight, Calm Light Bulb, and Lights 'OFF' and Random Flash 'OFF'.
* Under 'Settings' – You have a multitude of options for Sound, Illumination, Power Options, Bluetooth Settings, System, and Party Booster.
* Under 'Sound Mode' – You can choose the 'Preset Mode', which is Standard, Extra Bass, or * Live Sound. You can also choose BASS/MID/TRE, which allows you to customize the levels of Bass, Middle, and Treble to your own personal preferences. Change the sound effects through the various DJ EFFECT settings, which allow you to adjust the volume of the effects for personal customization, or shut all DJ Effects OFF. How cool is that?
* Additional Sound Settings – Activate Clear Audio (Sony's recommended sound setting) and adding Extra Bass if you so desire (Grand Kids Love this setting).
* System - Configure the various settings for the system.
* Check the battery's power levels.
* Update the software of the speaker.
*** Fiestable App ***
* DJ Control allows you to completely customize your music genres using Isolator, Notch, Noise, and Jet. My Grand Kids can make these effects in sync with the music and lighting – absolutely entertaining. In DJ mode you can add Drums, Scratch, Audience, Voice (Cool Sayings), Phaser, Reggaehorn, and Rhythm by simply tapping or using your finger swirling around on a circle on the pad of your Smartphone. This App feature is absolutely mind-boggling and pure FUN. The more I use it, the more I love it. And, of course, you can turn the DJ effects 'OFF' any time.
* Motion Control is another fascinating feature, which allows you to control DJ and Illumination effects with a side motion, back and forth, or swivel of your Smart Phone. My Grand Kids love this motion control and are quite good at it.
* Illumination Controls – Yet, another amazing feature, which you control from the pad of your Smartphone. You can change, blend, and even customize the LED color displays on the speaker by simply moving you finger around the color circle on the pad of your Smartphone.
* There is a Party Flash feature, which allows you to blink the LED lights by tapping the pad of your Smartphone as fast or slow as you wish, and, the lights react, accordingly.
*** Conclusion ***
This Sony XB-32 is a terrific speaker just for its high-octane bass and vibrant sound quality. However, it is an interactive, feature packed, entertainment and party machine. My Grand Kids love this speaker and dance with it motioning the lighting and tapping all four sides for the drumming sounds. It is very amusing watching them have so much FUN with this little devil. YooHoo! it has become one of the main reasons they visit me so often. Now, I know what to get for Birthdays, and, or Christmas. I highly recommend this Sony SRS XB-32 BT Speaker. Sony has engineered this baby for outstanding, portable entertainment. It is the perfect speaker for outdoors and at any gathering of family and friends. Buy one, you won't be disappointed.

Sony Adds BT Tech - Updated Stereo Turntable
on April 23, 2019
Posted by: pauldar
from North Florida
To begin with, I have an extensive collection of vinyls dating from the early 60's to the present. I am an avid music lover, and, consider myself an audiophile since I was always fascinated with sound reproduction, amplification, and sound equipment. I started building stereo systems for friends and family back in the late 50's. Collecting records was a culture for me back then, and still is. I go through my record collection often, and, play records at least three or four times a week. Vinyl, analogue records capture full and complete sound waves. There is nothing better then to enjoy outstanding audio from analogue recordings as they were meant to be enjoyed. I prefer the dynamic audio quality of my vinyls over any of my sound-modified, digital CDs. I have a high-end, 'old-school', and costly turntable. But it has no pre-amp, nor does it have Bluetooth technology, or a USB port, for digital conversion of my vinyls using my computer with the appropriate software. So, when I had an opportunity to review the Sony Stereo Bluetooth Turntable – PSLX310BT in exchange for a comprehensive review, I was excited to see what technology could offer me in this updated turntable.
These are the features of this Sony Stereo Bluetooth Turntable, which strike me as the most outstanding:
** Design & Build – Overall this Sony BT turntable is designed for simplicity as an 'entry-level', bargain-priced, record player. The cabinet is made of sturdy plastic in a flat, black, matte finish. It is an attractive looking unit and fits into my home entertainment unit quite nicely. There are four cushioned, round feet on the bottom of the record player, which are designed to absorb shock and prevent vibrations from degrading the playback. This Sony turntable features a hinged, removable, clear plastic dust cover. It is thick enough to provide protection against unwanted sound vibrations from nearby speakers, and dust and debris. The total weight of this unit is under eight pounds because of the lightweight plastic cabinet and aluminum, metal turntable and tonearm. I was impressed by the belt-driven, aluminum, die-cast and balanced platter. It also comes with a foam cushion, 'slip-mat' to keep my vinyl records stable as they are playing. This Sony unit is single-record-play only. However, it will play either 33 1/3 LPs or 45s. The 45 adapter is stored in its slot on the right side of the player cabinet housing. This turntable has a highly sensitive, newly designed 'straight', aluminum tonearm. It is very different from the standard 'J' styled tonearms of the past, which consisted of counter weights to balance them. This aluminum tonearm is programmed to find the beginning grooves of my records and automatically returns back to the tonearm-rest at the end, ready for the next 'Start'. If you are new to vinyl records, or, just want a Bluetooth updated turntable, this is the ideal unit for you.
** Controls – The unit has a Power/ON/Standby Button on the back of the unit to turn the turntable ON/OFF. Topside, on the main deck, are three user, selection knobs. These knobs allow me to choose the size of record (7” for 45s) and (12” for 33 1/3 LPs), speed (33 1/3 & 45 rpm), and for Bluetooth pairing. At the right-front of the unit are three push, selection buttons, 'Start', 'Stop', and 'Up/Down' (for tonearm re-positioning). Pressing the Start Button initiates the auto-play and the tonearm and stylus will play whatever size record I have selected. The Stop Button will halt the record playback and return the tonearm back to its rest. The Up/Down button allows me to pause the playback, and, or re-position the tonearm to a different part of the record by hand. Pressing the Up/Down Button after the playback is paused or re-positioned will automatically lower the tonearm to continue play. On the back of the deck are selection switches for output selection and 'Gain' selection. The 'Gain' Selection gives me three options, Low (-4 dB), Mid (0 dB), and High (+6 dB), to match the overall volume of the record I am playing. When the Output Switch is set to 'LINE' the turntable's audio signal passes through the built-in phono pre-amp. I set this switch to 'LINE' when I am using the BT connection. The Output Switch also provides for phono (out) selection, which bypasses the built-in pre-amp. It allows me to connect the phono (in) on my amp receiver using the provided RCA audio cables. The RCA audio cable is only 52 inches long and I needed approximately eight feet of cable to connect to my amp-receiver. Also, I wanted the audio cables concealed. So, I purchased a pair of RCA Plug Couplers and a longer audio cable at my local Best Buy to get it done. These user-friendly controls are explained in detail with illustrations in the 'Operating Instructions' included with the Sony turntable.
** Bluetooth Pairing – This feature was fascinating to me because I have several quality BT speakers, but, was never able to use them playing my vinyls. I went from my turntable to my amp-receiver using RCA audio cables and that was my only connection. This Sony turntable has a built-in phono pre-amp. So now, I can take advantage of my weatherproof speakers with BT technology and enjoy my vinyls while listening outdoors near my pool and hot tub. WooHoo! I can also pair this turntable to my sound bar or headphones without having to use RCA audio cables. Pairing is very easy. The Bluetooth Pairing Button will flash blue when depressed. When it pairs successfully the blue light will remain constantly ON. If I disconnect a paired device the indicator light will turn orange, and, go into standby mode until reconnected to a BT device. This turntable can pair up to eight different devices and remember that information as it registers them, so you don't have to pair them again. But only one device can pair at a time for playback. This Sony uses the following codecs, aptX and SBC. I found that my BT speakers also support the same codecs. Having the aptX codec brings the music alive with near CD quality over BT. WoW! What I also love about using my BT speakers is they have a mobile App for my Smart Phone. The App allows me to control the volume of the speakers, choose pre-set EQs, and, or, user-adjustable EQ settings. How cool is that? I do all of that with my amp-receiver too, however I have to connect the turntable using RCA audio cables and switch from 'Line' to 'Phono'.
** USB Port – On the back of the deck is a USB, type 'B' port for connection to a computer for conversion of the analogue sound tracks to digital through the appropriate kind of recording software. This is a 'must' for me in the coming weeks as some of my records are now over 62 years old. I have approximately 400 all together. I am going to evaluate the existing software available and get started on this project soon.
** Set Up – Out of the box it took me approximately 30 minutes to have this turntable ready to play records. Installing the platter and drive belt takes a little patience and finesse. I have large hands, so I asked my wife, who has much more manual dexterity then me, install the drive belt.
** Vinyl Record Care – To achieve the best sound playback possible vinyl records must be as dust, debris, and smudge free as possible. All vinyls should be cleaned thoroughly with a dampened microfiber cloth, dried, and stored in a controlled environment. Vinyl records are a dust magnet due to static electricity and an anti-static record cleaning brush is a valuable tool to have for cleaning the micro-grooves. Because fingerprints can damage vinyl I started handling them with gloves after cleaning. I also started to store them in polypropylene record sleeves along with the cardboard outer sleeve to preserve the original artwork and artist information. In time vinyl records increase in value, so they need to be protected and stored properly.
** Maintenance – From my past experiences: Keep the deck, stylus, and cushioned slip mat as dust-free as possible. Keep the hinged dust cover in place when the player is not in use. I found having an extra stylus and drive belt is good practice. These are the items in your turntable that will eventually wear out. Sony has Parts Distribution Partners listed that you can order these items from at their 'Support' website.
** Summary – Over the past five years Vinyl record sales have been increasing while CD sales have dropped off. New generations of folks are now discovering the energizing and full bodied, analogue sounds that only vinyl records capture. Love my vinyls! This Sony Stereo Bluetooth Turntable – PSLX310BT can be your gateway to linking the past with present day technology. I highly recommend the purchase of this unit for your own personal use, gift for a family member, or special friend.

Outstanding Home-Video Surveillance System
on April 9, 2019
Posted by: pauldar
from North Florida
Living in my rural area of North Florida has many pluses and weather-related advantages. But, being out in a secluded, wooded locale also has its disadvantages, especially where home security is concerned. So, I was anxious to review this Defender 4-Channel, 2-Camera Wireless 4.0MP, 1TB, NVR Surveillance System in exchange for the product. Over the past twenty years my home has been burglarized three times. After the second time I installed an indoor, DYI, security system. However, to gain entrance into my home, a window or door has to be broken and damaged to set my self-monitored system off. Additionally, outside garden and recreational equipment has been stolen because I could not extend my indoor system to protect those areas. I was hoping that the Defender Video Surveillance System could help me protect my outdoor areas and compliment my indoor security. After three weeks of trial and error I think I have my outside camera locations pinned down. And, since this system is expandable I have ordered two additional cameras to cover my equipment holding areas.
This Defender Camera Surveillance System can be installed by a professional, and, or, any combination of DYI or professional. I recommend visiting the Defender main website and bookmarking, and, or downloading the Defender 2K, Wireless, SmartSignal App Manual. It provided much needed information, details, helpful illustrations and drawings. I chose to install the complete system myself including the hidden and secure electrical power outlets. My cameras and electrical outlets are contained in bird houses approximately 11 feet off the ground mounted on wooden 4” x 4”s. The 120V electrical is run underground in PVC conduit from the nearest outside electrical outlet up the backside of the 4” x 4”s. I have a 120V, weather-proof electrical box mounted in each bird house. The cameras have 120V plugs, which plug into the concealed outlets. This allows me to unscrew the back of the bird house and unplug the camera if needed. If attempting to install the cameras DYI – keep in mind the location of the cameras is not only important, but must they must be secure from being easily vandalized. Securing the electrical outlet is another vital consideration. I experimented with eight locations over two weeks of use before finalizing my camera installations. Another relevant point when installing the cameras is they have to be able to communicate with the NVR. Not sure what the actual physical limit is, but I have my farthest camera over 150 feet away from the NVR, and it still sends sharp, vivid, impressive, live streams and videos.
Why do I think this Defender Surveillance Camera System is outstanding?
>> Video Quality – For me this is the most important feature of any camera surveillance system. This Defender delivers up to 2k quality color videos (HD), or, I can select (SD, 480P) using the included app. For optimal video performance 2K video setting should be limited to one camera. When I have my four cameras in operation I will set them all to SD (480P). A feature I particularly like is that I can zoom in or out of any live view or recorded video for greater detail using my two fingers pinched and spread across my Smart Phones, Tablet, or my I-Pad. The cameras are IP67 rated and can withstand outdoor wet conditions and operate in weather conditions of -22 degrees F and up to 140 degrees F. The camera housing is made of metal with an adjustable slide-shade, hood at the top, which allows for decreasing the amount of sunlight on the lens. Each camera has an antenna on a swivel ball, which allows me to keep it in the upright position for better communication to the NVR. The cameras have a 2.8mm lens and a 127 degree diagonal field of view. Each camera has 18 Infra Red LEDs for night vision and their range is approximately 100 feet of depth depending on the amount of ambient light available. The cameras also come with a W/P Ethernet connection for even more dependable security. The provided Ethernet connection on each camera may come in handy when the wireless cameras cannot communicate with the NVR because of building interference or distance. However, an Ethernet cable would have to be run with the electrical to those cameras and back to the NVR. Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable are both capable of runs of up to 1,000 feet without any appreciable degradation in bandwidth. However, using Wireless or Ethernet cable the minimum network download speed of 5Mbps is required for optimal video performance. Another important feature is that each camera is equipped with a motion detector for, alarms, and video recording, but it is nonadjustable for sensitivity (more on this later).
>> Software Set Up – The Defender Camera Surveillance System provides two options for set up. By directly connecting the NVR to a monitor or TV, and, or through the Free Defender App for Apple or Android devices. Either option the NVR needs to be connected to your home router through the furnished Ethernet cable and plugged in. I set my system up through the Defender SmartSignal App, which I downloaded from both the Apple Store for my I-Pad and Apple Smart Phone and the Google Play Store for My Samsung Smart Phones and Tablet. It was easy to do after registering for an account. My account allows me to use the SmartSignal App on my two Apple devices and three Android devices. WooHoo! The more I used this system the easier it was to learn all the various features. Be aware that only the surveillance cameras are wireless back to the NVR. The NVR has to be connected to your home router by Ethernet cable for access to your home network and over the Internet. It is not wireless. Defender furnishes a Cat5e Patch Cable approximately 40 inches long. However, if you need to locate the NVR elsewhere in your home you can purchase of up to 150 feet of Cat5e cable at Best Buy. If you do not have a monitor or TV near your NVR to view live feed from your cameras or recordings, not to worry. TIP: I use 'Screen Mirroring' on my Android phones and Apple IOS devices to view the Defender live images or recordings on any of my three Smart TVs (Living Room, Family Room, and Bedroom) – Just pair them accordingly – no cables required. At full screen the live image is unbelievable (see attached pic). Great detail and color. I can also do this at the homes of my friends or family using their router and Smart TV. YooHoo! Think thoroughly how you want your schedule for motion detection and notification of Alarms. Just using any of my Smart Phones I can change my 'ON' schedule at any time through the SmartSignal App (see attached pic). For now I have the motion detectors 'ON' from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. When I leave during the day I change the schedule accordingly. If I am out longer then I changed the schedule for, it is an easy adjustment through the App over the Internet wherever I am at the time. I set the Alarm in each case to notify me of motion by e-mail. WaHoo!
>> Hardware set Up – As I indicated earlier this can be a DYI, professionally installed, or any combination. If your cameras are mounted in an indiscreet location vandalism should not be a factor. The power supply to the cameras can also be an issue. If not sure hire an electrician to secure the 120V power. I notified my Home Insurance company that I now have 24/7 video surveillance and am receiving an additional 5% discount. You may also qualify, which eventually pays for the entire system, or electrician, additional materials,or any other professional needed to get your system up and running. Take your time placing these cameras at various locations around your home. I moved mine around at eight different locations over two weeks. TIP: When moving your cameras around to determine their final location, angle, etc. - Plug the cameras in 'Live' and use the image on your Smart Phone for placement and adjustments at that site. It saved me lots of time and steps from moving around back and forth from my monitor connected to the NVR inside my house.
>> Cons – As stated earlier there is no sensitivity adjustment for the motion detectors on the cameras. I live out in the woods. Bats, birds, flying bugs, rain, and racoons set off the motion detectors frequently at night, and during the daytime hours when I am away. And, they send me alarms each and every time. Yikes!
>> Conclusion – This Defender 4-Channel, 2-Camera Wireless 4.0MP, 1TB, NVR Surveillance System is outstanding home surveillance. It could also be used in a small business environment also. The system installation may present some challenges, however it will save lots of money and it may even pay for itself if possible Home Insurance discounts and professional, monitoring costs are factored in. I highly recommend this feature packed system for added security for you and your family.

Classic, Retro, Marshall W/Outstanding Technology

The name, Marshall, has conjured up so many fond memories of the early 60's. In the late 1950's I was fascinated by stereo and sound channel separation. The late '50s' also just happened to be the 'Golden-Age' of Rock and Roll, which begged for bigger, more robust amplifiers and sound equipment to deliver two-channel stereo separation and deep, pounding bass at volume levels to fill large venues.
Drummer, Jim Marshall, the 'Father-Of-Loud', founded Marshall Amplifiers in 1962 in Bletchley, England. After Pete Townshend appealed to Marshall to make an amplifier that would bring out 'live' sound with depth and volume, Marshall guitar amplifiers became the accepted 'standard' worldwide. Guitarists have been using his amplification equipment for the last 50 plus years. WoW! At the same time I started building stereo systems for family and friends from the finest audio and speaker components I could find and afford to buy. I considered myself an audiophile back then, and still do today because I love the superior, stereo sounds, which invoke feelings of joy, sorrow, and happiness that only true audio reproduction and amplification can convey.
When I had an opportunity to do a comprehensive review of a Marshall Woburn II Dual 5.25", 110W, Wireless 2-Way Speaker in exchange for the product, I did not hesitate. Marshall, for you younger folks, is the 'gold-standard' of sound amplification and quality. Next time you and your favorite gal go out dancing – take notice of the band's equipment. It is probably Marshall's amplification and sound equipment. It is still the preferred choice of professionals. I was thrilled to evaluate and review this speaker set.
Why do I think the Marshall Woburn II is the best speaker at this price range on the market?
** Sound Quality – The most important reason for buying a speaker in the first place. Here is where Marshall is clearly ahead of the rest, especially with its delivery of pulsating bass.
* Without Bluetooth this speaker delivers phenomenal, dynamic sound through its analogue control panel. I can connect my auxiliary devices through the 3.5mm in the Control Panel or L/R, RCA Input Jacks on the back of the speaker. Through my amp-receiver l can channel a variety of other kinds of music into this fabulous speaker; FM Radio, my Retro-Turntable, CD and DVD Player, and the sound stream from my Smart TV. Additionally, I have an Equalizer with 18 frequency bands, which can further enhance the sound qualities of this Woburn II. But, this Marshall has its own Control Panel, which is more then adequate. On top of my speaker panel are three analogue control knobs, Volume, Bass, and Treble. Two 1 inch tweeters and dual 5.25 inch subwoofers are individually powered by class D amps for a total of 110 watts of power. This speaker cabinet renders a lively, earthy sound and the bass reflex system includes a rectangular port for each subwoofer, which works to extend the frequency response. Even at high sound levels as the air escapes each bass reflex port it does not get noisy or distorted because the inside of the ports are at a 90 degree angle facing down in the cabinet. The three control panel knobs are lighted and graduated in increments from 0 to 10, which allow me to fine tune the exact acoustical sound I want. Woburn II projects medium and high trebles flawlessly, and commands low resonating bass with beefy richness at any volume setting. It has a broad, realistic mid range. I love it. YooHoo!
* With Bluetooth 5.0 – Here is where the Marshall Woburn II elevates its sound delivery through the latest, greatest technology. One of the most unique attributes of this Marshall speaker is that is has the Qualcom codec aptX chipset. It is an advanced codec specifically designed for high resolution sound delivery over Bluetooth devices. It allows CD and DVD quality sound to be transmitted over Bluetooth, and updates this retro-classic, Marshall Woburn II into the 21st century. It is absolutely astounding sound quality. However, you must have a phone or portable device, which has the aptX chipset installed to take advantage of this high-performance sound. Check the specs on the model of your phone, tablet, or other mobile device. There are many phones and devices out there that support aptX. However, if aptX is not installed in your phone or device - you won't be able to experience the higher resolution sound. Because there is no software upgrade option without the installed chipset. At present only Android devices, which use Oreo (8.0 or 8.1) or PIE (9.0) OS system, support aptX. IOS phones do not support aptX, they use ACC as their optional Bluetooth codec. However, Apple Macs do support aptX. My wife has a Samsung Phone with the aptX chipset and I have an Apple with ACC. Just after a couple of minutes of listening to her Android phone playing music from an Internet Music Service over BT to this Marshall Woburn II – I am a believer the aptX codec is superior in higher resolution sound. This Marshall Woburn II over BT delivers crisp, clear voice highs and well-defined bass with the subtle nuance background sounds only prevalent while listening to CDs and DVDs. WooHoo!
** Marshall BT App – The Marshall App is available at both the Google Play and the Apple Store. After setting up an account It directed me to pair my phones to the Marshall Woburn II Speaker. It is easy and it allows me to download the App on any of my devices under my e-mail account. The App also provides for coupling with Woburn Multi-Room Speakers (Woburn II is not a Multi-Room speaker). However, through my amp-receiver I can input several speakers together including this Woburn II. The App lets me use anyone of the seven equalizer presets, Flat, Rock, Metal, Pop, Hip-Hop, Electronic, Jazz, and, or Customize the EQ to my own listening tastes. How cool is that?
** Marshall's Classic Look & Build – Styling and design has remained basically the same for over 60 years. They still enclose their speakers in strong, birch plywood covered in textured vinyl covering with the Marshall name in script over the front of the speaker and the iconic brass plate at the bottom front, which has engraved, “Est. 1962”. The topside Control Panel is copper-colored, brushed aluminum with a momentary ON/OFF Power Lever, Source button, Play/Pause button, Volume, Bass, and Treble knobs.
** Marshall Speaker Placement - Because this is an excellent speaker designed for volume and bass it deserves to be placed where you can get the most out of it. As an audiophile I cannot emphasize enough how important is to place your speaker in a place to match the acoustics of your particular room. Speakers are designed to deliver optimum sound to you when they are level with your ears while you are listening to them. So, placement height should be approximately 36 to 42 inches above the floor, which is the approximate level of your ears while sitting. If at all possible this speaker should be placed at, or near, the middle of your listening area with no obstructions in front of it. It can sit on any stable surface, but, it is best to place this speaker on a layer of foam or a similarly absorptive material. The sponge-like material prevents reverberation and helps isolate the sounds from vibrations you don’t want to hear. If you have to place this speaker near a wall try to keep a space as far from the wall as practicable. Keeping a distance away from the wall reduces any possible distortions from bass and the mid-ranges. Because of your rooms wall make-up, ceilings, length/shape, furnishings, number of people, etc. all have influence on sound delivery. Don't be afraid to experiment. You will discover the best speaker placement for your listening pleasure.

** Sound Volume – Keep in mind this Woburn II is designed for bass and volume. It can make you taste your morning's toothpaste, once again, if you turn the volume way up. It is a booming sound machine. When I first set up my Woburn II speaker I had the volume at five, treble at two and bass at three. It is better to cut the highs first before powering up the bass and making any other adjustments. I was pleasantly surprised. However, this speaker can be a beast with the bass and volume turned up.
** Conclusion – This is a unique speaker backed by 60 years of Marshall excellence and tradition. It is quality made and built, and, is priced accordingly. I highly recommend this Marshall Woburn II as the centerpiece of your audio equipment. It is a retro-classic with updated technology. It would make a great gift for yourself, the music lover on your list, family member or special friend.

from North Florida
I was excited to have an opportunity to provide a comprehensive review of the PowerRay Wizard Underwater ROV Kit by PowerVision in exchange for the product. I live in North Florida, which has an abundance of natural fresh water springs. I am approximately 40 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and 65 miles from the Atlantic. The Florida Manatee is my favorite gentle, sea cow, creature to observe and interact with in certain springs and runs. However, they are strictly protected in Manatee Sanctuary Zones. Even outside the Sanctuary Zones Federal Law prohibits humans from 'touching' any Manatees. This is where the PowerRay is my most valuable asset and resource (see attached pics). At my age, 75, diving is no longer a viable activity for me, and, although snorkeling is FUN, it has it's depth limits. The PowerRay Wizard allows me to enjoy our fascinating underwater world of enchantment and wonder without ever getting 'wet'. YooHoo!
When I received the PowerRay Wizard I was immediately impressed by the quality of the professionally designed, secure, luggage-like, carrying-case it came in. The outer housing is made of hardened, composite, plastic with two wheels for rolling ease, telescoping carrying handle, and zippered combination lock. On the inside there are individual cutouts lined in 'shockproof' material to protect each individual component of this PowerRay on my journeys to the water areas. After downloading the Vision + App I started learning the intuitive controls of the PowerRay while training in my pool. The more I practiced, the easier it became. Over the past three weeks I was able to make trips to visit local, fresh-water springs and a bay off of Crystal River looking for Manatees. I captured many photos with this PowerRay (see attached pics). WoW!
I love this PowerRay Wizard ROV and here are the reasons why:
** Setup – The PowerRay furnishes a Quick Start Guide, which familiarized me with the basics of set-up and devices. However, there is a PowerRay User Manual, which is much more detailed and comprehensive including helpful illustrations to connect, navigate, and take quality photos and videos. It is available for downloading at the main United States PowerVision Support Center website. I found this site extremely helpful in showing me what mobile devices are compatible with the Vision + App, FAQs, Specifications, Quick Tip Videos, and much more pertinent information. I strongly recommend visiting this website.
** Vision + App – I first determined that both my mobile phones and I-Pad were compatible with the Vision + App. So, I downloaded the Vision + App from both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for my three devices. I use my I-Pad as my primary device just because it has a much bigger screen and allows me to see much more underwater detail. My Apple and Android mobile phones are my backup just in case my I-Pad battery runs low. After downloaded the Vision + App the first time it prompted me to register and log in. It allowed me to add my two other mobile devices under my same account. Easy process.
** Charging – The PowerRay folks made this process super convenient. I can charge the PowerRay ROV, Remote Controller, Fish Finder, and the Base Transmitter, or Wi-Fi Router, all at the very same time using the included Charging Adapter. How convenient is that?
** Hardware Setup – Simple cable connections to follow. However, connect the Base Transmitter and ROV cables first before turning ON the Remote Controller. Once the cables are connected turn ON your Base Station (Wi-Fi Router). You can scan your mobile device for the Base Station (Router) and, then connect to your mobile device. Next, turn the Remote Controller ON and OPEN the Vision + App. Ready to navigate. Exciting! The attached tethering cable is 230 feet long. It can withstand up to 30 kg of force per foot (30kgf) or 66 lbs of force per foot (66lbf). So, it can take a load in the water and withstand moderate force. I am working on a separate 150lb test fish line attachment and reel to attach to the rear body of the ROV as extra insurance when I use it in the ocean.
** Intuitive Learning Curve – I found the more I used this PowerRay ROV the more I familiarized myself with all of its FUN features and settings, and the easier it was to enjoy this baby. Make no mistake this is not a 'toy'. The PowerRay is a semi-professional, underwater camera accessory, which allows me to visually explore the water-world in my local environments. I love it!
** Navigation – I prefer the Joystick Controller in Default 4 Mode. It is exactly like a gaming controller and so easy to use. However, beware there is a communication gap of approximately one and a half seconds between the Remote Controller and ROV. I found that after gently putting the ROV in the water it responded or navigated more efficiently about one foot or more under the surface of the water. It is professionally designed to glide underwater with hydrodynamic efficiency. I first set the Speed on the Remote Controller to 'L' or low while getting used to navigating the ROV. When I want to get out to a certain area I set the speed on 'H' or high at about one to two feet underwater. When diving I always go at 'L' low speed. Near the bottom I use 'M' or medium while getting into the position I want for pics or videos. Navigating around the bottom, grass, rocks, etc. 'L' for sure. The PowerRay will travel 1 knot or 1.15 miles an hour at 'L' or low. It moves at 2 knots or 2.30 miles per hour at 'M' or medium. And, at 'H' it moves at 4 knots or 4.60 miles per hour, which is 7 feet a second and pretty fast.
** Underwater Photos & Videos – The PowerRay exceeds all my expectations in taking photos and videos. I set my resolution through the Vision + App for 1920 x 1080 30fps. This is the third lowest resolution setting, but easiest to enlarge, download, and send by e-mail. The 4K,12 megapixel, UHD camera has an 100-degree wide-angle lens. Burst Mode photo shooting at 5fps in 12 megapixels, 1080P real-time image and video streaming, integrated adjustable light for photography and videography. Fantastic! I cannot believe the excellent quality of photos and videos. This baby absolutely amazed me and it will you, too.
** VR – This is an astounding feature, which turns your underwater adventure into a real time 3-D experience. The Zeiss VR Goggles are of the finest quality. Wow! It actually takes me to the front of the ROV (where the camera is mounted) as if I was actually there, and, I get to see what the ROV is capturing as I navigate it underwater. If that is not enough for 'over-the-top', I can also control the ROV with my head motions – Up and the ROV goes up, likewise by moving my head down for down, left, and right. How Cool Is That? I tried it out at Crystal River looking for Manatees – this is the ultimate in 3-D virtual reality and control experience. Fantastic!
** Optional Controls of the PowerRay – Using the Vision+ App I can use any of my mobile devices to control the navigation of my ROV with simulated joysticks on the face of my mobile device. Although it allows me to use my mobile device in place of the Remote Controller (Joysticks) to navigate the ROV, my fingers are way too big for the Left and Right simulated joysticks to be effective. I'll stick to the joysticks on the Remote Controller.
** Fishfinder – Now, that the weather is getting better I can't wait to use this optional device in the Gulf of Mexico on the West Coast of Florida. It can be used with the PowerRay ROV, or, separately. It uses a sonar system that can define underwater landscape, depth, temperature, and, of course, where the fish are. Amazingly, it can detect fish as far down as 230 feet below the surface. The Vision + App can even set alerts when fish are near the Fishfinder. The only thing I need is a fishing rod and bait!
** Maintenance – Thoroughly clean the ROV when it is taken out of the water. I towel dry the ROV body and stand it upright to let all of the water drain out of it for 20 minutes or more. It needs to be rinsed with fresh water if it was used in salt water. Let it dry out completely before putting it back in its case.
** TIPS:
* Always 'lock' the PowerRay ROV before getting it out of the water to prevent bodily harm from the propellers. The ROV can easily be locked through the Remote Controller, or, the Vision + App.
* Keep the PowerRay submerged several feet under the water surface for increased mobility.
* Keep the tethering cord clean and dry after use. If you have a wind-up reel you can use it would be most helpful rather then winding the cable by hand on the furnished reel. There is approximately 230 feet of tethering cable altogether.
* Keep the 'capped switch cover' of the PowerRay's communication port handy in your pocket so when it is pulled out of the water the 12 pin communication cable port can stay dry by placing the cover on it for protection.
* If you have more then one mobile device – consider downloading the Vision + App on both devices so you have a 'backup' in case the first mobile device' battery runs low. Be prepared for at least 3 hours of continued use with this PowerRay.
Conclusion:
I wholeheartedly recommend the purchase of this phenomenal underwater drone. It will open up worlds to you previously hidden. It is 'addictive'. I never know what incredible natural beauty awaits for me to discover. The springs are so clear, full of life, and the water is so pure, and another opportunity to observe my favorite animal, the Manatee. This would make a great gift to yourself, loved one, family member, or special friend. After using this PowerRay Wizard for the last three weeks all I can tell you is that it is worth every penny. Buy one, you won't be disappointed.

What are the interior dimensions? How big a bird can it fit inside?

Hiya' Bill,

The interior oven measures approximately 10" x 13" x 14", which is approximately, slightly larger then one cubic foot. Ninja folks say you can cook a 12 pound bird in the oven. I don't think weight has that much to do with it. I cooked a five pound Pot Roast and it was dwarfed in this oven (see pic). Probably could of cooked 15 pounds of Pot Roast. Based on my experiences. . . .You can easily cook 10 or more pounds of Turkey Breast in this oven (as long as it is contained in a 12" x 12" x 12'' area. . . .Hope this helps.

This Samsung Galaxy Book Flex laptop has an Intel Core i7 processor and 12GB of RAM for running multiple programs at once.

What is the battery life in hours please?

Hello RodT,

I am a heavy user of this laptop for work. I load large photo files and mark them up with construction inspector notes using my digital pen.. I easily get 12 hours of battery life over two days of use. I think I could get at least several more hours if I didn't stream movies for entertainment at night in my motel room when I am out of town. This baby is powerful and fast. My guess is that if you just do word documents and e-mail you will come close to 17 hours of battery life.. . .

Pixelbook Go is the Chromebook that goes anywhere, then keeps going. It's barely 2 pounds* and just 13mm thin. So whether you're collaborating on a Google Doc in a cafe, catching up on emails during a flight, or watching movies while on vacation, you can do more on the go.*Weight varies by configuration and manufacturing process.

Looking to buy laptop that will be good for my sister that’s starting college is this a good buy?

Hi Johnnie94,
I have the Pixelbook Go 13.3 TS Chromebook with the Intel i5 - 8GB - 128GB SSD. I was amazed how fast it was and what i could do on it. This unit will allow you to download Apps from the Google Play Store. I downloaded MS Word and Excel although Google Docs is an excellent word processing software too. Google also has fine presentation software also.
The touch display screen is bright and clear and wide enough 16:9 aspect, so that two pages of a word document can be displayed at one time if so desired. Great for students. It features a center-placed trackpad, which is adjustable for sensitivity. The keys on the keyboard are backlit and can be adjusted for brightness level. Only an Android smart phone can connect through BT to lock the unit and turn it on, if you wish. It will also allow you to send and receive messages from your phone and, or Pixelbook. This Pixelbook does utilize the voice commands of the Google Assistant also. There are thousands of Apps at the Play Store, and in my opinion, this Chrome OS rivals Windows and Mac for productivity. Chrome OS is a simple easy to learn system. It is NOT bloated like Windows or Mac so a high end processor, RAM memory, or huge hard drive is not needed. Cloud backups is available. This is a sold unit for school-related productivity, note taking, and entertainment too. It is great for creating and editing word processing and spreadsheets, e-mail, and surfing the web for information. But it is NOT a gamer or able to do heavy graphics and photo editing.

Hope this helps you. And good luck to your sister's college career.

Get quick access to favorite drinks with this GE beverage center. The spacious interior holds up to 109 cans or 31 bottles of wine, while the glass door and LED lighting make browsing contents simple. This GE beverage center features five oak shelves for added durability and a natural aesthetic.

When door is open 90 degrees how far does the door extend beyond the side? Can it be installed flush against a wall on the hinge side?

Hi Trwmab,

YES - The door can be extended beyond 90 degrees. However, it would have to protrude a couple of inches out from the 'flush' side of the cabinetry to fully extend against a wall. When the unit is free-standing the Right-Side-Handed-Door can extend approximately 145 degrees from its fully closed position. Hope this helps. . . .

Only at Best Buy Listen in comfort with these Jabra Elite 85h wireless headphones. Integrated SmartSound audio technology adapts automatically to your surroundings, while a powerful battery offers up to 36 hours of playtime. These Jabra Elite 85h wireless headphones feature eight separate mics for excellent call quality and are rain-resistant for safe use in all weather conditions.

how do these compare to Boise?

Hi Micki,
I have the Bose QC 35 Headphones and just received the Jabra Elite 85h Headphones for review. In my opinion the Jabra 85h has the superior Noise Cancelling tech. Jabra uses AI (artificial Intelligence) in its Active Noise Cancelling profiles. It basically analyzes the noise backgrounds you are currently in, and changes your ANC to match your audio environment.
I was out at my pool listening to Pandora when my neighbor started to trim his hedges. My Jabra headphones changed my listening environment within ten seconds so I did NOT hear his noisy clippers. I love this tech. Additionally, the Bose QC 35 should not be in an outside environment, especially a moist one (I live in North Florida - Hot & Humid). Jabra 85h is rainproof and dustproof, and I have no problem taking these headphones outside. In my opinion the Jabra Sound App offers more features and settings then Bose. However, Bose has the superior sound over BT. When I connected a 3.5mm jack from my amp-receiver to each headphone set I could not tell any noticeable difference. Both headphones were able to be manipulated by my amp's EQ and responded accordingly. Bose has the better (HRAs) High Resolution Audio codecs to transmit CD quality music over BT. But, Bose is a lot more expensive too. For the price point, in my opinion, Jabra Elite 85h is less expensive, and features better AI and ANC technology. Both are outstanding over-the-ear earphones. Hope my opinions help you. . . . . . .
