Great Charger for Your Apple Devices

The Belkin BOOST CHARGE 3-in-1 Wireless Charger is a great charger for your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods. The charger looks like something Apple would make themselves. The indention provided ensures your AirPods are places properly on the mat every time. The LED lights let you know that your device is properly charging and isn’t too bright at night. The power brick is a little large behind a nightstand, but is needed to provide power to all three charging stations. Overall, you can’t go wrong with the Belkin 3-in-1 charger for Apple devices.

Good Security Camera System but Outdated Elements

The Lorex 8-Channel, 4-Camera Indoor/Outdoor Wired 4K UHD 2TB DVR Surveillance System is a good little security camera system with some outdated functions.
Since this is a wired system, be aware that you will have to run wires from the DVR to each camera. Plan this out in advance to save you much frustration. You may have to plan to crawl in attic spaces, etc. so be prepared for it to take several hours for installation. However, being a wired system comes with peace of mind that you won't have to worry about dead batteries rendering your system useless.
Once installation is complete, you setup your system by connecting a monitor to the DVR unit and going through the setup screens. The UI for the system looks like it was developed in the early 1990s. It is ridiculously outdated. This is by far, the worst part of the system. Also, having to connect to a monitor to setup instead of having a way to setup via an app on a smart phone is not ideal. I didn't have a monitor (I have all laptops) so I had to connect it to my TV for setup.
The smart phone app used for viewing the cameras is OK. It works well to view your cameras to keep an eye on things. The notifications are pretty much terrible. You get a push notification (if on iOS) that tells you motion was detected. No thumbnail image to quickly see what it was. You have to open the app to view the video. Wouldn't take much to make the notification more useful.
For the price, the security camera system is good. There are better security camera systems out there that offer a better setup experience and better smart app, but for the price, this system does what it needs to.

The Ninja Professional Plus Blender with Auto-iQ is a powerhouse of a blender. With it's blade tree (3 levels of blades), it handles anything you throw at it.
Per my kid's request, the first thing we tried with the blender is crushed ice for snow cones. After filling up the pitcher with ice (the pitcher is 72 ounces so it holds a lot), we pressed the preset Ice Crush preset and jumped when the blender started chopping. It was loud as the ice started being pulverized and then quietened down as the ice turned very fine, almost like snow. I never would have expected a blender to truly make shaved ice, but the Ninja did without fail.
Since using it for shaved ice, we have used it almost daily to make smoothies. We throw the ingredients into the blender (frozen fruit, ice, milk, etc), hit the smoothie pre-set and less than a minute later, we have a delicious smoothie.
With a locking pitcher and lid, you can rest assured that whatever you are blending stays in where it is supposed to. And clean-up is a breeze with the lid, pitcher, and blades all dishwasher safe.
Highly recommend this Ninja Plus blender.

Nice Addition to Any Room, But Sound Quality Lacks

The Mooni Portable Speaker Lantern makes a nice addition to a room, mainly due to its aesthetics and colors. With the ability to light up with 9 different colors, the lantern adds a nice touch of color to any room. The lights have different effects such as strobe and smooth transition between colors.
I experienced a few issues with the included remote where I had to press a button two or three times to get it to register with the lantern. This is a shame since the remote is required to fully utilize the lantern's features.
The speaker on the lantern is not great. The sound is what you would experience wearing a pair of cheap headphones. Very little to no bass, and the sound just isn't as crisp and clear as I would have liked on a speaker for this price. Overall, the sound is decent enough for a patio or kids's room, but I don't recommend using this lantern for your speaker source for a party.
Overall, the lantern has some nice features, but could have been much better.

Beautiful Design and Sound - OK Apps

The KEF LSX Hi-Res Wireless Speakers are absolutely stunning. From the moment you open the box, you can see the meticulous care that went into not only packaging the speakers, but designing and building them. The quality is top notch as expected with speakers at this price point.
Setup of the speakers was easy. Plug in, download the app, update firmware, and start listening. Be up and running within 20 minutes (the longest part of setup was the firmware update).
Wow, once you hear the sound these speakers produced, you will be blown away. I honestly didn't expect such great sound from such compact speakers, but was very surprised when he my music played clear and crisp. I could crank the volume up quite high before any sort of distortion was heard. The sound easily filled my large two-story living room. Absolutely amazing sound.
The only critique I have for the system is the second app needed for streaming from Spotify. The main app is relatively easy to use and offers good functionality (setup of speakers, equalizer, etc.), but you have to download a second app if you wish to stream from Spotify. Seems like this functionality could have been built into one app for convenience.
But that's a minor inconvenience given the other ways to play music on the speakers. Airplay worked flawlessly, bluetooth was easy, or connect a device via fiber optic for clear sound.
I must say I wasn't expecting much from these compact little speakers, but was I wrong. You won't be disappointed at all.

The Microsoft Surface Pro X Signature Keyboard with Slim Pen is a must have for your Surface Pro X. The functionality the keyboard and pen provides truly makes your Surface Pro X a pro device.
The backlit keys have just the perfect amount of push, and the track pad moves the cursor precisely. It’s like working on a standard laptop. The pen is a great addition for note taking, markups, etc. it tucks neatly and discreetly away in a groove in the keyboard where it charges wirelessly. The only minor-issue I have with the keyboard is that the trackpad click is very loud.
The keyboard is thin so it doesn’t add much weight and it closes securely over the screen of the Surface to keep it protected.
If you get a Surface Pro X, the keyboard and pen accessory is a must have to make the device truly great.

Great Backup Power for Your Electronics

The APC Back-UPS Pro 1000VA Battery Back-Up System is a great device for keeping your electronics powered during power failures. You can keep the Internet alive, your computer from shutting down, or keep other electronics up and running during an outage. Not intended to use for long periods of time, but allows ample time to safely shutdown any devices. Very easy setup, essentially plug and go. Definitely recommend this backup system as it has a large battery, easy to use, and can save expensive devices from abruptly shutting down during power failures.

I had high hopes of the Velop mesh wifi system after reading about it from CES reviews. However, that excitement quickly faded as I started to setup and use the system.
I setup the first Velop node (connected to my modem) with no issues. Setup through the app was easy. The troubles came when I started to setup the second node. I have ethernet cable running around the house so had planned on using the nodes connected via ethernet to improve connectivity and throughput. Everything I read indicated that this feature was possible. The second node was being installed about 30 feet away from the primary node (two walls separating them).
I plugged the second node into my ethernet cable and started setup via the app. The app hung on the testing mesh connectivity screen. I called Linksys to get help (I quickly connected to an agent which I really appreciate). After explaining what was going on, she indicated that the system should NOT be connected via ethernet cables as it was not designed to do that. That’s opposite of everything I read. So I disconnected the ethernet cable and tried setup again (this time connecting second note wirelessly to primary). Still could not setup. The agent advised moving the node closer to the primary and trying again. I did this with success and then moved the node back to the original location. I was shocked that I couldn’t setup a second node only 30 feet and two walls away from the primary. The picture in the app while setting up the node shows the second node on a completely separate floor across the house. Not my experience at all.
I setup the third node (by placing it next to the primary and then moving it) and it went fine having learned from the troubles of the second node setup.
After having the system setup and using it, here were my observations:
Pros:
* The Velop system looks great - don’t have to hide nodes
* Setup of the primary node easy using the app
* Throughput is solid - not as high as my existing mesh system (Google) likely due to not being able to connect via ethernet
* Wifi covered entire house easily (4500 SqFt)
* App is easy to use (for average user, see cons below)
* Quick connection time with customer service agent
* The Velop system looks great - don’t have to hide nodes
* Setup of the primary node easy using the app
* Throughput is solid - not as high as my existing mesh system (Google) likely due to not being able to connect via ethernet
* Wifi covered entire house easily (4500 SqFt)
* App is easy to use (for average user, see cons below)
* Quick connection time with customer service agent

* Setting up additional nodes can be finicky. Must be VERY close to primary node
* Does not support connecting nodes via ethernet likely resulting in reduced wifi throughput

Hopefully with some much needed firmware and app updates, the product will live up to its price.

Linksys Comment Contridictory to Article Reference

In their reply to my review, Linksys states that the nodes can be hard wired once setup wirelessly. They also mention "Having said that, we would still recommend using Velop to Velop wireless connectivity to achieve optimum network speed." They link to an article about setting up the nodes with Ethernet. When I read the article, it says, "The Linksys Velop can be connected together wired via Ethernet. If your home is already wired with Ethernet, you may want to take advantage of these connections to increase the range of your Velop system, maximize the speed, and reduce the risk of wireless interference."
So they say keep it wireless and the article says to keep it wired for improved speeds. Which is it?
