Excellent movie!!!

This is the Slaughter movie you should be buying, not the terrible 'B' movie Slaughter, that says it's 'banned in the UK' just to get you to buy it, only to find out it's made by a couple of teenagers in thier mom's basement. This film on the other hand, is part of the Afterdark Horrorfest III collection. A terrificly filmed movie with a great cast, great plot, and fast paced. My wife and I loved it, especially because it's based on true events, that makes it more intriguing. I personally recommend the entire set of the Afterdark Horrorfest III, but if you don't have the funds and want to buy them individually, make sure this is one of the first ones you buy. I also recommend Dying Breed, From Within, and Perkins 14, just to name a few I think you'll like. BUY IT!!!
What's great about it: It's based on true events.
What's not so great: There are basicly no DVD extras.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Absolutely Terrible!!!

My wife and I went to see this in the theater, we were VERY disappointed!!! If anyone pays any attention to my reviews, you know that I'm a huge movie collector and always try to give the best, most informative, and credible review possible. And honestly, it takes a lot for movie buffs like my wife and I to completely despise a movie, (namely, The Invisible.) Now you understand where I'm coming from. This movie,'Bug', has no plot, no point, and is personally a waste of time. In fact, I'm going to spoil it for you, and I NEVER do this! The entire movie is about a couple of people that think they are covered in bugs. This is the film in a nut shell! The best part is that, they never tell you if they're covered in bugs or if it's just in thier heads. It just ends! You never see any bugs! Waste of time, waste of money, and a waste of the millions of dollars they paid these great actors to do absolutely NOTHING!!! My wife and I actually felt dumber after watching it! Save your brain cells and watch something else!
What's great about it: It managed to take me for $20.
What's not so great: The fact that I have sucker written on my forehead.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great box set!

My wife and I love this season just as much as the first. Now, we haven't seen all of them at this point, but enough to recommend this set to any horror movie fan or collector. If you don't have the first season, I also highly recommend it, but only as a whole. I believe Best Buy sells it in two volumes, which is too expensive. So, you may have to look for it somewhere else. But, if you haven't seen any of them, most of them are about an hour to an hour and a half, all done by prominent directors, like Dario Argento and Stuart Gordon. You can try to buy them seperately, but 13 movies at about $9.99 is going to be pretty high. That's why I recommend the set, $69.99 is a great deal for this set. My only complaint, which is minor, is the nifty little skull that holds the DVDs, it makes it kind of hard to get them out, but it's not a big deal. So, I highly recommend this set along with the first.
What's great about it: Just as good as the first season!
What's not so great: The DVDs are hard to get out of the skull.

Great movie!

This is a fantastic movie! It's like a fairy tale for adults, my wife and I loved it. Some people classify this as horror, I'd say it's more of a fantasy. My wife and I's only complaint, and the reason I gave it four stars instead of five, is because it's in spanish, it's not even English dubbed. And don't tell me it's because he's spanish, He11boy 1 & 2 were in English, so what's the problem. I can understand Asian horrors designed for Asians, and then it makes it's way to us. But, he makes them in spanish, and then puts it out in America. It doesn't make sense and makes a great movie less enjoyable! However, I still recommend this movie, if you don't mind reading. Also, some other great films by Guillermo Del Taco, that are in spanish (for some dumb reason), are The Orphanage and Devil's Backbone.
What's great about it: Guillermo Del Taco!
What's not so great: It's in Spanish!!!

Great horror movie!

This was a very good horror movie! The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because it was in spanish. And don't tell me it's because he's spanish, He11boy was in English. He could've atleast made it English dubbed. Besides, you're selling the movie predominantly in America. It doesn't make sense. It's not like an Asian horror designed for Asians, then it eventually makes it's way to us. He makes it in spanish then sells it in America. I don't get it?! My wife and I loved this movie, but for us it takes the fun out of it trying to read a horror movie! I do recommend it, but put on your reading glasses. Also, two other great movies of Del Taco's you may want to check (or should I say read), are Pan's Labyrinth and Devil's Backbone.
What's great about it: Guillermo Del Taco!
What's not so great: It's in Spanish!!!

This series is one of the best horror series of all time. It's right there with Friday the 13th, Halloween and He11raiser. I assume at this point, everyone has seen atleast one of these movies, but if you haven't, you're really missing out. My wife and I's personal favorites are the first and third. I highly recommend this box set, not only for the price, but because of the special features and quality of sound and picture. All these great movies have been digitally remastered in widescreen presentation. A definite must own for any true horror movie collector!
What's great about it: Great for the price.
What's not so great: Nothing!

Great 'B' movie comedy!

This movie was a lot of fun, that's why I gave it four stars. Of course the acting was bad, it's a low budget film and it was done in German (English dubbed), but it's very original and very funny. It's about a group of pothead teens that screw up a black magic ritual, then get in a wreck immediately after, die, and turn into zombies, funny stuff. If you like movies like Shaun of the Dead and the Evil Dead series, then this is right up your alley. My wife and I watched it with a friend and were in tears, Hilarious! I also recommend Flight of the Living Dead, Trailer Park of Terrors and Zombie Strippers. These movies aren't for everybody, and many people think they're stupid, (which is what I think makes them funny.) But, if you're like my wife and I and have a warped sense of humor, I recommend all of the above. Have fun kiddies!
What's great about it: This movie was hilarious!
What's not so great: It's low budget with bad acting.

The sci-fi-flavored suspense of Cube continues as a new group of prisoners navigate the treacherous confines of their futuristic trappings in this prequel from Cube 2 screenwriter and first-time director Ernie Barbarash. Each step is potentially the last as the deadly last traps hidden in the sparse rooms find the numbers of the unwilling prisoners quickly thinning. Only when they can figure out the mysteries of their constantly changing prison will the surviving inmates have any hope for escape, and even then there is no guarantee of freedom -- much less survival. As the cube workers who monitor the prisoners progress bear witness to their increasingly grim bid for survival, a sudden sting of remorse finds one of the employees empathizing with the victims and plotting to assist them in their unlikely escape.

Great follow-up to the first two!

This movie is the third in the Cube series, but is actually the prequel to the first one. This film is about the first prototype cube and the guys that run it. If you liked the other ones, you'll definitely want to see this one. I gave it five stars because of the intrigue and the imagination of this prequel. However, this movie's not as good as the first one, but then again, the first one's a classic and very hard to top. But in my opinion, much better than the second film, Cube 2: Hypercube, which I gave four stars. I highly recommend this movie, along with Cube and Cube 2: Hypercube. Buy all three, it's a great series!
What's great about it: Very intriguing.
What's not so great: Couldn't find anything.

This sequel to the science fiction hit Cube gets more than a square deal for its release on DVD. Cube 2: Hypercube has been given a letterboxed transfer to disc in the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1, which has also been enhanced for anamorphic play on 16 x 9 monitors. The dialogue is in English, with optional subtitles in English and Spanish; the audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital 5.1. Bonus materials include a commentary track featuring producer Ernie Barbarash and editor Mark Sanders, an interview with director Andrzej Sekula, a look at how the film's special effects were created, a selection of deleted scenes, storyboard artwork, and the original theatrical trailer.

Great sequel!

This movie was a great follow up to the first one. However, this film was not quite as good as its predecessor, then again, the first Cube was a classic and very hard to top. This seguel was just as intriguing and thought provoking as the first. The reason I gave it four stars is due to not so good acting and rather weak special effects that seem a little too computer generated at times. Other than that, the movie was overall very entertaining and fun to watch. I highly recommend it, but only after watching Cube, the first one. Also, you may want to check out Cube Zero, the third of the series.
What's great about it: Very intriguing and thought provoking.
What's not so great: The acting and special effects could've been better.

This low-budget science-fiction drama, winner of a 1997 Toronto Film Festival prize for "Best Canadian First Feature," depicts the plight of a group of people clad in prison-style uniforms and trapped in futuristic cube-like metal cells. Their memories are hazy; no one can recall how they got there. Alderson (Julian Richings) awakens in a cell, seeks an exit, and arrives in an adjacent cube where he's sliced and diced. Former cop Quentin (Maurice Dean-Wint) becomes the group leader, and he's challenged by conspiracy theorist Dr. Holloway (Nicky Guadagni). Government worker Worth (David Hewlett) remembers a past government link to the project. A discovery that the cubes have numerical codes suggests study by math-student Leaven (Nicole deBoer) while former thief Rennes (Wayne Robson) knows some escape tricks. However, the extreme behavior of Kazan (Andrew Miller) becomes a threat to their survival. Also shown at the 1997 Vancouver Film Festival.

This is a terrific movie! My wife and I love it, it's a classic. I originally bought this on VHS many years ago when it first came out. I've since made the transition to DVDs and bought it again. This is one of those movies that you'll never get tired of watching, it's just as entertaining every time. This film will definitely make you think and will keep you on the edge of your seat, from the first scene to the last. You won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this movie and its two sequels, Cube 2: Hypercube and Cube Zero. Buy all three!!!
What's great about it: Very intriguing and thought provoking.
What's not so great: Couldn't find anything.
