My wife and I loved this movie! It was very intense and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Great acting, great special effects, great plot, all around a great movie. I highly recommend it! You may also want to check out Lake Placid and Primeval, which is based on a true story. Both were just as good as Rogue. (But skip Lake Placid 2, it was terrible.)

My wife and I loved this movie! it has a great plot, great acting, great special effects, and is very intriguing. It's based on a true story, which makes it that much better. I highly recommend it! Also, you may want to check out Rogue and Lake Placid. Both have similar plots and are just as good. (But skip Lake Placid 2, it was terrible.)
What's great about it: Very intense and based on a true story!
A handful of thieves discover they have more to worry about than the law in this independent horror story, set during the Civil War. William (Henry Thomas) is the leader of a group of runaway Confederate soldiers who, with the help of an escaped slave and an Army nurse, stage a daring robbery at a bank holding a cache of rebel gold. The heist does not go smoothly, and William's associates soon fall into in-fighting as they head toward Mexico with their stolen fortune. Needing a place to rest for the night, the criminals set up camp in a mansion overlooking an abandoned plantation, but it soon becomes obvious that the old house is not as empty as they thought, as a handful of angry ghosts make their presence known while William and his cohorts fight over the gold. Also featuring Isaiah Washington, Patrick Fugit, and Michael Shannon, Dead Birds was the first feature film from director Alex Turner.

My wife and I loved this movie! It has a great twisted plot, very intense, and a great twist at the end. The acting was good, the special effects were good, all around a great movie. So, if you looking for a good twisted, creepy, scary movie, you'll definitely want to get this movie. I highly recommend it! Also, you may want to check out Red Sands, by the same writer and director.
What's great about it: Great plot and very intense!

This film was actually better than my wife and I had anticipated. It was really trippy and really creepy. It had good intensity, keeps you guessing, and has a good twist at the end. It had suprisingly good acting. All around, a good fun movie! I definitely recommend it. Also, you may want to check out Red Mist, by the same director.

This was a great movie, that was actually made before The Wrestler, but it didn't go to theater (in America) because they didn't the two to compete. So, they just waited a year, then put out on DVD. This movie had some big time actors, Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane, Thomas Jane, etc. And Mickey, as usual, fits his roll perfectly! He plays a hitman, that tries to team up with a young arrogant punk (only because he reminds him of his brother), that ends up screwing up a situation, sending it spiraling out of control. Great movie, very intense and fast paced. If you love a good action movie, or Mickey Rourke, as my wife and I do, you'll love this movie. I highly recommend it!!! Also, if you haven't seen The Wrestler, you definitely need to check that out!
What's great about it: Mickey Rourke's performance.
What's not so great: Diane Lane plays a b**ch in this movie.
Horror master George A. Romero's Bruiser comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by various people involved in the production of the film, a trailer, and a music video from the Misfits. This is a strong release from Trimark that should be of interest to any genre enthusiast.

I love George Ramero and I love zombie movies, but when I found out about this movie, which has nothing to do with zombies, I had to watch it! Other than Monkey Shines, he's mostly known for zombie flick's. In fact, the very first horror movie I ever watched was Night of the Living Dead. I know, it's kind of cheesy now, but to a 6 year old, it scared the heII out of me! But, back to Bruiser. This is a brilliant movie! My wife and I loved it. It also has one of our favorite actors in it, Peter Stormare, and stars Jason Flemyng. It's similar in plot to Falling Down with Micheal Douglas, only much darker and more intense. This is the horror version of Falling Down. A guy who gets run over by everyone, including his wife and dog, until a simple white mask turns him into a man that can unleash his anger on those that get in his way. A great movie with a great twist at the end. This is one of those great films that manage to slip through the cracks of the publics eye. A definite must own for any true horror collector, it even has a Misfits' video (new Misfits, not old.) I highly recommend it! You may also want to check out Edmond and The Ugly.
What's great about it: A movie by George A. Ramero without zombies!

Again, another great movie that people set thier expectations too high for, and when it doesn't meet THIER standards, they rip it apart! This is the reason I try to write good informative reviews. My wife and I are tired of watching people rip apart great movies, I don't get it. People in this era of movies have just become way too critical! This was a great movie, I don't know what everybody was expecting, the movie of the century! My wife and I, and my sister, saw this in a packed theater, and we enjoyed it, as well as the people around us. (I can't speak for the whole theater, but the majority came out smiling.) This movie had great acting, great action and intrigue, and great special effects. We loved it! I say to critical people, lower your expectations a little bit, don't be so negative, and try to enjoy the movie! I recommend this movie, in the 3 disc SE, which comes with the old one.
What's great about it: This set comes with the old one.
This hard-hitting horror film has been given a sleek presentation for its release on DVD. The Ugly has been given a letterboxed transfer to disc at the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 (enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16x9 monitors), and the audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Surround. The dialogue is in English, with optional subtitles in French and Spanish. The film's original trailer has been included as a bonus.

One of my wife and I's favorite movies. The kind of movie that gets better every time you watch it. It was actually filmed in New Zealand, but don't worry, it's not a low budget movie. No big name actors, but a few you'll recognize. Great imagery and very artistically done. This movie is a real mind game, it really gets you inside the twisted mind of a serial killer. By the end of the movie, you find yourself rooting for him. Kind of like how you found yourself pulling for Hannibal Lecter in the Hannibal series. Not your typical serial killer movie with a cast of strange characters that actually make Simon (the killer) look like the normal one. If you like a good twisted thriller that gets inside your head, this is the movie for you. Buy it, I highly recommend it!!!
What's great about it: Great plot, makes you think!

Stuart Gordon and William H. Macy together, you can't go wrong! This is a great look at a simple nerdy man driven over the edge. Much like Micheal Douglas in Falling Down, the world pushes him around til he finally pushes back. A terrific film with a f***ed up ending. And you know Stuart Gordon had to give Jeffrey Combs a cameo! My wife and I loved it! A definite buy! You may also want to check out Bruiser, by George A. Ramero.
What's great about it: Stuart Gordon and William H. Macy!
Director Clive Barker has given gore fans some of the most ferociously original horror movies in recent memory, including Lord of Illusions and Hellraiser. In 1990 Clive Barker directed the darkly brooding Nightbreed, a story of man vs. monster vs. even more monsters. For the first time since its theatrical release, fans are able to watch Nightbreed in its original 1.85:1 widescreen presentation. Anamorphiclly enhanced, Nightbreed features a very nice transfer by Warner with only slight imperfections. Colors are normally bright and bold with blacks especially solid (much of the film takes place in the dark). There is some slight shimmer during the end of the film, but this should not interfere with the enjoyment of the movie. Audio is presented in a remixed Dolby 5.1 soundtrack, and although it is nothing overly impressive, this is still a very well-mixed audio track. Dialogue is strained in some areas, but effects are clear and Danny Elfman's operatic music score is often pumped through all speakers. Nightbreed gets bonus points for putting extra attention on its soundtrack, where most horror films would have been sorely lacking. Also included is a Dolby Surround 2.0 track in English, as well as English, French, and Spanish subtitles. Sadly, Nightbreed's only supplemental feature is a theatrical trailer that includes a lot of nasty plot spoilers. At the very least a commentary track by director Clive Barker would have been welcomed, but apparently that's going to stay as mythical as the creatures in Nightbreed.

For anyone who's a fan of Clive Barker, you have to see this movie! My wife and I are huge fans, from his movies and books, to his amazing artwork. To us, Clive Barker can do no wrong, (but that's us.) This movie is based off of the book, Cabal, and is written for the screen and directed by Clive Barker. This film is full of imagination, suspense and intrigue. It's a classic tale of man vs. monster, but who is the real monster? This movie originally came out in 1990, but other than the 80s hair and clothes, you'd never tell. Clive Barker's always been ahead of his time. So, if you're a fan of the He11raiser series, Candyman, Lord of Illusions, etc., then I think you'll love this movie. Buy It!!!
