Great movie!

This was actually a pretty good movie, better than my wife and I thought it would be. I'm also a huge Henry Rollins fan and I loved his role as a preacher in this, it's hilarious! However, I've seen better roles by Cuba Gooding Jr., he just seemed rather bland in this, (maybe it's just me.) Also, Ron Pearlman's in it, along with a few other good actors, including Bill Moseley. The plot isn't what you think it is. It's like a mix between Red Sands, The Prophecy, and 28 Days Later. I thought the ending was a little weak, but over all a decent movie. I definitely recommend it!
What's great about it: Henry Rollins.
What's not so great: Cuba Gooding Jr. and the ending was weak.

Terrible!

This movie had potential, but was horribly done. I gave it two stars instead of one only because I thought the plot was decent. The idea of a family of cannibals is pretty good, they just went about it the wrong way. The acting was just flat out terrible! I think they just grabbed some people off the street and told them to read a cue card. (I could've done a better acting job than they did.) Then again, Italians have always been known more for their gore, not their acting. And it was really gory (I love a good gore flick), but was cheaply done. Talk about low budget, I think they made this film for about $500. All around just a terrible movie! Let me make some suggestions. If you want a good gory Italian film, check out Cat in the Brain or anything by Dario Argento, (I love all of his films.) If you want a good cannibal movie, I have a few, try Dying Breed, Tooth and Nail, Welcome to the Jungle, or the notoriously popular Cannibal Holocaust. So, take Last House in the Woods out of you cart, place it back on the shelf, and get one of these other fine movies I've recommended.
What's great about it: Alot of gore.
What's not so great: Everything else.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great remake!

My wife and I love this movie! We saw it in the theater and again on DVD. The director's cut has a completely different scene than the theatrical cut, both are great! We personally love this one more than the original. No disrespect towards Jon Carpenter and his version, as we wouldn't have this one without it. Rob Zombie's version is just more indepth and explains more about Micheal Myers and what made him what he was. This version shows you more of his childhood. Plus, I love the fact that people are remaking many of the old classics, such as, this one, Last House on the Left, Friday the 13th, etc. Because now they're made with more money, better actors, better special effects, and so on. Some of them are being remade by the same directors, because the earlier releases were low budget and made before the directors were famous, namely Wes Craven and Clive Barker. They're both remaking Nightmare on Elm St. and HeIIraiser (my personal favorite) set to come out in 2010. So, if you're looking for a good thrill ride of a movie, look no further. I highly recommend this film! (Also, the second Halloween is currently under way and is set to be released in the next year or so, also by Rob Zombie.)

What's not so great: Nothing!

Great sequel!

This highly anticipated sequel did not disappoint! My wife and I loved it just as much as House of 1000 Corpses, great follow-up! I can't speak for everyone, as it seems, many people didn't like House of 1000 Corpses. Personally, my wife and I can't figure out why, as everyone we know liked it just as much as we need. I've given up on trying understand people and what they expect out of a horror movie. I've read reviews where people just ripped these two movies apart. I just think that these people don't like horror movies period! If you don't like horror movies, don't watch them and give them bad reviews. However, for those of you like my wife and I who love and respect horror movies (and/or Rob Zombie), you'll love these great films. They have great story lines, great acting, and of course, great directing. And if you haven't seen it yet, Rob Zombie's version of Halloween is fantastic! Better than the first, in my opinion. (No disrespect towards Jon Carpenter and his version, as it was great in it's own right.) I highly recommend Devil's Rejects as well as House of 1000 Corpses!
What's great about it: Rob Zombie and the cast.
What's not so great: Nothing!

This was a fantasticly epic film! My wife and I loved it! Great imagery, great acting, great plot, great ending, great everything! The artistic imagery of this movie was much like it was in The Cell, very dream like. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it! And if you haven't seen The Cell, it's kind of the horror version of this movie.
What's great about it: Great imagery and plot.
What's not so great: Couldn't find anything.

Excellent movie!!!

This was a great film, my wife and I loved it! They did a very good job of making it look like a real documentary. The movie is based off of the real disappearence of Michael Rockefeller, that went missing in 1961 during an expedition to New Guinea. Many presumed he was eaten by cannibals or still living with cannibals. This movie is about two young couples that decide to go looking for him. The movie is filmed from thier perspective. And no, it's not as good as Cannibal Holocaust, but very good in it's own right. So, don't watch it trying to compare it to it. If you haven't seen Cannibal Holocaust, I highly recommend it, it's much older but much more disturbing. This film however, looks very real and is definitely worth checking out. I highly recommend it!
What's great about it: Very Realistic!
What's not so great: Couldn't find anything.

Frighteningly Delicious!!!

That's right, I contradicted myself. But, if you see this movie, you'll understand exactly what I mean. My wife and I loved this movie! The only negative thing about this film is trying to find something comparable to it. It is an older film, but that didn't make a difference to us. They did a great job of making this look like a real documentary. It'll get to you, in a good and a bad way. My wife and I love realistic disturbing stuff! After watching this, the only things I can recommend or compare it to are Cannibal Ferox or maybe the August Underground series, and I'm still looking! This is a great film and I highly recommend it!
What's great about it: Sick and Disturbing!

Best 'B' movie horror!!!

My wife and I just watched this movie and were blown away! This is quite possiblely the best low budget film we've ever seen! They lead you to believe that it's real (much like Blair Witch.) BUT, as a movie buff and extreme movie collector, I know when a movie is real. Many people thought this movie was real, IT'S SUPPOSE TO LOOK REAL, that's the point! It leads you to believe it's real, and is probably based LOOSELY on real events, but it doesn't say anywhere on the cover, or in the movie, that it's real. That's what makes it enjoyable, it could or has happened! They lead you to believe, and trust me, I did my homework on this one, that it's real or was real, and names and places and such were changed. If you're a fan of Ghost Hunters, the series, you'll love this movie! The idea was to make it as real as possible. And for a low budget film, they did a pretty d*mn good job! This is a great movie, and scared the heII out of my wife and I! This is one of those movies that seems real for a good reason, THIS COULD HAPPEN! Other than the bad acting, this was a great movie. I highly recommend it, but only if you have an open mind!
What's great about it: Looks extremely real!
What's not so great: The acting!

The directorial debut from Highlander screenwriter Gregory Widen stars Christopher Walken as the angel Gabriel, who, fed up with God giving all of his attention to humans, decides to stage a sort of coup. With plans of killing all of the good angels, Gabriel decides to enlist the help of a recently deceased and inhumanly malevolent army general. In order to prevent Gabriel from obtaining the help of the vicious Korean War vet, good angel Simon (Eric Stoltz) stashes the general's soul in an unsuspecting young Native American girl named Mary (Moriah Snyder). As Gabriel gets closer to finding Mary, an ex-seminary-student-turned-cop and a school teacher, played by Elias Koteas and Virginia Madsen, team together to protect her. Meanwhile, Satan (Viggo Mortensen) enters into the mix, concerned over the implications the heavenly war may have on his dominion. Later spawning a series of sequels, The Prophecy was released in the U.K. under the title God's Army.

Excellent movie!!!

This film is a classic, a must own! One of my wife and I's favorite movies. Great plot, great acting, very intriguing, everything! If you're reading this, you're probably interested in the whole series. So, I'm going to save you and myself some time and just sum up the whole series for you now. The first one (this one) is hands down the best. The Prophecy 2 and The Prophecy 3: The Ascent were very good. I would give them both 4 stars. They follow the story line very well, Christopher Walkens' in both, as well as a few other characters. This pretty much ends the series, in fact, the third one says, 'the final chapter'. Then you have Prophecy: Uprising and Prophecy: Forsaken, in that order. These came out some years later and don't have any of the same cast members, but do have some good actors and actresses in thier own right, namely Doug Bradley (Pinhead) and Kari Wuhrer. These two movies were decent, I'd probably give them 3 to 4 stars. They aren't as good as the first 3 and vaguely follow the story line, in fact, they're almost completely different movies trying to be like the other ones. I don't like the guy they picked for the devil at all! Also, they're a little bit more confusing than the first 3, because they're trying to start up a plot that was finished in the third film. These two films are kind of seperate films all together. So, I highly recommend this one definitely, along with 2 and 3. I also recommend the 4th and 5th films, but watch them as if they were a seperate series, not follow-ups to the first 3, you'll enjoy them better that way. I hope this review was useful.
What's great about it: This one was the best of the series!
What's not so great: Nothing!

Relaxing vacations may never be the same once viewers see the killer crocodile movie Lake Placid written by Ally McBeal creator David E. Kelly. Fox has done only passable work on this title, producing a 2.35:1 non-anamorphic widescreen version of the film. While all aspects of the picture look good (colors, black levels, fleshtones), the sad fact still remains that this is a disappointingly non-anamorphic title. Otherwise, no edge enhancement or shimmer was spotted during the feature. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 and sounds very nice. Dialogue, effects, and composer John Ottman's tense score all sound free of any distortion, with directional effects used well. Lake Placid may feature a large reptile, but when it comes to extra features, this disc is as a small as a tadpole. The only supplements featured on this edition include a very short five-minute featurette on the making of Lake Placid, some TV spots, a theatrical trailer, and some cast and crew biographies. Fans of David E. Kelly may delight in this horror-comedy romp, but DVD fanatics will likely be sore to find the disc lacking in any well-produced extras.

Great movie!

My wife and I loved this movie! It's designed to be a horror movie, but the cast of characters make it very funny. Plus, the special effects were terrific. I myself am a reptile lover and have studied them most of my life. So, the plot is not too far off of something that could really happen. In fact, you should check out Primeval, which is based on a true story. Also, the movie Rogue from Dimension Extreme was pretty intense and just as good as Primeval. I highly recommend this movie along with Rogue and Primeval! I DON'T, however, recommend Lake Placid 2, it was terrible. None of the same cast and the special effects were horrible. So, don't get suckered into the 2 pack, just buy this one.
What's great about it: The plot, the acting, everything!
What's not so great: The sequel!
