Fossil is improving their watch lineup
on October 22, 2021

I’m going to try and write this review on the watch itself and not so much Wear OS, even though some of the features might get overlapped. This is my first Android watch to own, and I have to say I’m pretty impressed for a non-tech watch company to make a smart watch like this.
The looks of the watch are less than appealing, when the watch is off it reminds me of a watch you had growing up as a teenager. Its lightweight and comes with the rubber band which fits nice and comfortably on your wrist, but nothing really innovative about it which I think is important when wanting to stand out in this industry. However, once the watch turns on it truly becomes alive. The colors are rich and the display is attractive. Initially syncing to my phone was quick and easy. The screen shows a lot of information and can be a lot to take in at first, but the watch does give you some tutorials on the basics.
I kept the default face because it seemed to be the most informative, and there weren’t many other faces to choose from within Watch OS, but the watch did include an app called Facer, a store that provides a large selection of watch faces to choose from, most of which appear to be at a minimal cost. The default face gives you lots of health information (once each is individually enabled) that allows you to quickly check activity and health readings by a touching each corner which is quite convenient. Navigating the watch was a bit of a learning curve. It could have been a little more responsive at times when it came to screen touches and button pushes, a few instances I had to multi-tap or button push to get it to do what I wanted, but hasn’t been too bad.
You need to enable some options to make the watch more enjoyable such as Tilt to Wake and touch to wake when the screen is off, otherwise the screen just stays off until you push one of the side buttons. I also never got an alert for a low battery. Sure I can manually check my battery life by swiping down, but its nice to get a heads up when you are below a certain percent. This could probably be fixed based on a different face that shows the battery percentage. When the watch was nearly dead, it went into a battery saving mode which just showed the time and offered no additional features. When the battery gets low (around 10%) the tilt and touch screen feature to turn the screen on no longer work, kind of aggravating with no warning and then all of sudden your screen won’t come on without extra work.
Luckily the charge is pretty quick. From what I’ve read, Fossil has substantially increased the charging time from the previous model, it was less than an hour until it was fully charged again. The battery did last me a full day, but I haven’t used it for tracking exercise or activities for extended periods of time, which I’m sure would drain the battery much quicker.
Another thing I’m not a big fan of is the watch seems to reset to the homescreen when navigating through the watch pretty quickly. I’ll be reading something or looking at options, and 2 seconds later I’m back at the home screen. Also some things didn’t work as smoothly as I liked such as sending text messages or being able to make phone calls from my watch, but I’m going to give Fossil the benefit of the doubt and assume it’s a Watch OS limitation. I can still check messages and receive calls though.
But to be honest, I’m impressed with the some of the options that Fossil included for health and exercise readings. I won’t list them all as they’re already listed above, just make sure you enable them to start reading and working. I can quickly check my sleep, blood/oxygen, heart rate, calories, steps, and cardio fitness level just by touching those options on the main screen. I have yet to try out Google Pay with the watch.
Overall I think the watch is a good product with room for improvement, but nothing a software update couldn’t fix. I think the price should drop to be more competitive, and the latest Wear OS won’t be available for it until later next year. Fossil is moving in the right direction though.

Great bundle deal!

I remember the days of aging Hard Drives that were the slowest thing in a computer, boy times have changed. I’ve never really had any problems with my current NVMe drive, it is a little older though and space has gotten short on it. I’ve used it for so long and it works well, so never thought of upgrading but wow, technology does move fast. This drive is super fast compared to my other drive…
I ran some benchmark tests right after I installed it and it got about 4x read speed and over 2x write speed! These results are amazing on my desktop. I’m beyond excited to use this as my primary OS drive (copying the data over as I type this and its moving quickly).
This drive seems to be a no-brainer for a gamer looking to upgrade, not only do you get an expensive game included with it (over $60), but it includes a 5 year warranty! You also get early access to the game if you get it before the release date of 11/19/21, which I’m excited to check out as a big FPS gamer myself.
Also, for those with limited or no NVMe slots available, adapters are cheap. My slots were full so I ordered an adapter, easy plug and play into a PCI slot.
You can see my results in the attached screenshot, and my desktop is several years old, I’m sure newer hardware will get even better results.

Functional and portable

I’ve been wanting to setup my laptop as a secondary workstation and possibly even considering replacing my desktop at home, but I know I’ll need adapter to support the extra USB’s and monitor ports that my laptop currently lacks but wanted something more than just a bulky docking station as I move around a lot. The Satechi multiport adapter looked like just what I needed.
First off, the instructions are quite bare and don’t really explain anything. They tell you what the ports are and that’s about it. It was quite confusing trying to understand the PD port and understanding the video options, which are better explained on their website. It comes with 2 USB C cables, one is built into the device and can be removed which is very nice, and a longer one which is separate, but there was no power block which was pretty disappointing. You can add a PD charger up to 100W to it. Luckily, my Chromebook had one which I was able to test with while connected to my laptop. It showed the PD was connected but didn’t show my battery was charging, but it was slowly charging because the percentage would slowly increase which was nice. I guess they expect you to have your own since this is more of an add-on device and not a charger.
I also tested it out with my Chromebook with the same results, but the PD charger seemed to charge it just fine which is of no surprise since I was using its native charger to plug into the adapter.
Next, the video. There is where it got interesting. The simplest way for me to explain this in bullet points:
- VGA only allows to duplicate your PC screen
- HDMI (non-4k) allows me to have an extended screen option with my PC
- When both VGA and HDMI are connected, they duplicate with one another but can act as one extended screen to my PC
- 4k HDMI would not work without VGA connection, only worked when VGA was connected. Non-4k monitor on HDMI worked fine without VGA though
The adapter also adds additional USB ports which is really nice. My laptop only has 2 USB A and 2 USB C, so this doubles them. I was able to access my portable USB HD and peripherals to it and everything worked great. The form factor of the adapter is really nice and sleek. Its small which is great for portability, and it always has that extra USB C cable in it if you ever need. Memory card slots and Ethernet adapter is the icing on the cake.
Overall, I think it’s a good device but I deducted a rating because of the limited included instructions and the fact that the 4K monitor only worked when VGA was attached, but I would still recommend it. Seems most ideal for Chromebooks and tablets that you would like to expand their functionality and port options.

Stealth Mode Activated!

This isn’t my first Razer keyboard, and definitely won’t be my last. This keyboard is very impressive, especially for a mechanical style gaming device. The size and lighting of the keyboard are very attractive. I also have the Razer Basilisk v3 mouse to pair with this keyboard, and I love how the colors match when fading and changing.
This keyboard is quiet, like super quiet. Coming from a clickity clackity keyboard, which I do like btw, this was a bit of a big change for me…almost a strange environment adjustment for me. Not only do I use my keyboard for gaming but I use it for work as well. My computer is in my bedroom and when my S.O. is sleeping in bed, its nice to be able to work or game at stealth levels. I also do type pretty fast so I know it can get noisy on regular keyboards. Don’t let the lack of clackiness take away from its accuracy, so far its been great typing with. The mechanics of the keyboard are just as good (if not better) than my other one.
I downloaded the Synapse software package which gives you a lot of customization options for your Razer devices. For one, you have control of your keyboards backlighting. By default, it paired my mouse and keyboard lighting up as I previously mentioned. Then you have the option to customize keyboard settings and remapping of keys. Too many options to go through, but you can open programs, change profiles (you can store up to 5 profiles based on your gaming or work needs), lighting options, have pre-set texts, or just simply disable the key. These options are great for RPG games, especially for ones like the remastered Diablo 2 that just came out.
Not only are customizations endless, but its very ergonomic. I sit at my desk working for 8-9 hours a day, tons of typing, then after work I’m on my PC for gaming or random stuff, and my wrists and hands are very comfortable. The detachable palm rest is soft and supportive, it has a magnetic attachment to the keyboard so its simple to remove or add. Built-in audio control on the keyboard are a huge plus as well, including play/pause, back, forward, and mute/volume controls. I do wish there were additional USB ports on the keyboard like my other Razer, but its far from a deal breaker.
Once you go for a backlit mechanical keyboard, you can’t go back. This is a great option for those who prefer a quieter experience, are serious gamers where customization is a bonus to your game play, and comfort for those who use a keyboard for long hours. Even if you have a laptop, this is a great option to enjoy a full size keyboard on a different level than the OEM ones.

Lightweight and smooth

I’ve been using my old mouse for the past 5 years, give or take. Its been a good mouse, but I knew it was time for an upgrade. Razer has been well-known for their gaming brand and the prices are reasonable. Needless to say, I’ve been excited to try out a newly released product by them.
My first impression was how light this mouse was compared to my other one. Honestly, I’m a big fan of a heavy mouse. Not only does it represent quality in my mind, but I feel like the weight adds precision and balance. In my older mice, that would have optional weights, I would add them all to enjoy the heavier feel. Especially with wired mice with no batteries, they felt too light. I was slightly disappointed at first with the weight, but it started to grow on me. After using it a few days, its nimble and easy to move, and really haven’t noticed the weight difference.
The first thing I did was install the Synapse software by Razer. So many options and customizations! Gamers can truly tune their mouse for precision results and add different profiles for different games. The lighting on the mouse is also an attractive feature. Out of the box, the mouse portrays ambient colors that change ever so slowly. The lights are also wrapped around the bottom (more bottom-facing) that surround the mouse and looks good against my mouse pad. Do people still use mouse pads?? There is an option to switch from a clicking scroll to a free spin roll on the mouse, and can be controlled from the mouse itself with a button and the Synapse software too which is pretty fancy. You can feel the adjustment on the mouse when it switches. And of course you can customize your buttons which is a must for RPG games. I also need to throw in that I love being able to open programs with a click of a mouse button now.
Overall the mouse feels smooth and has been growing on me more and more, lighting is amazing, gaming has been enjoyable. I think Razer did a great job with this mouse. Its very responsive, extreme sensor tracking, aesthetics are sexy, and very customizable and programable.

Blender meets Functionality
on September 20, 2021
Posted by: Jp223
from Spring, Tx
Well we decided to try out a new blender that has the capability of doing some food processing. Our older blender is used for mainly making smoothies, but wanted the expanded options to save on appliances in the kitchen. This is my first Ninja product to own.
This blender was packed with accessories, it took us a minute to really understand how it all came together. It comes with about 15 pieces, and not having much experience with these automated cutting machines, it was a bit intimidating at first, but once we starting throwing foods at it, it got pretty simplified. We decided to test it out by going through the included recipe book with instructions that are specific to the Ninja blender, then went to the store and stocked up on items we wanted to try out over the weekend.
The first thing we tried was the slicer, decided to see how well it cut zucchini slices, while it did a good job, the slices were pretty thin and the hole to feed the food through is a bit narrow, so we had to cut the zucchini more so to fit, which affect the size and shape of our cuts, but it was great how quickly and smoothly it worked. Next we decided to chop up some Cauliflower with the chopping blade. This did a good job, but you have to be sure not to overdo it as it can chop pretty fine size pieces. We also tried the grating and shredding discs with some potatoes just to see how well it performed, we were hoping to do some hashbrowns for breakfast, but it ended up cutting tiny pieces, and again we had to cut down to small pieces to push it through the feeder. We ended up using the chopper for potatoes for the best results and made delicious potatoes O’Brien. We also tried a few options with onions, but the chopper again did the best job for our needs.
I then did my traditional smoothie on this blender which worked really well. My older blender will usually miss a blueberry or piece of fruit, and sometimes had to be ran twice to get everything…the Ninja liquified everything perfectly on the first try.
One issue we had was during the second day, the pitcher feed chute lid had a lot of trouble getting into the lock position. We couldn’t use it until we locked it for safety reasons, and it took us awhile to finally get it to work, but it required a lot of jiggling and adjusting. Still wouldn’t easily lock after, so not sure what the issue is, everything appeared to work smoothly until we put the lid on and then it wouldn’t lock. Still haven’t got it to work right, but at least we can get it with some extra effort. This is really the only trouble we have had with the overall product so far.
The blender itself is nice and compliments any kitchen. The interface is looks advanced (still easy to use) and allows for automated intelligent options or a manual process. You can tell this product was designed around safety and will only work when items are properly secure. Blades are very sharp, so have to be careful handling and cleaning. Also, cleaning was real easy. There is no blades permanently mounted on the blender, so it makes washing it out simple.
In general this is a great blender, I wouldn’t say it replaces a food processor, but does give you additional options which is always nice. It includes the recipe book for food, desserts, and smoothies which is a great way to start learning how to use the blender. I’ve definitely found new methods to improve my breakfast in the short amount of time of owning it.

Good quality product
on September 15, 2021

from Spring, Tx
I recently noticed I’ve been getting higher than normal BP, so I wanted to regularly monitor myself from home to keep tabs on my health, and also to be able to provide information for an upcoming doctor visit. I do already have one of the wrist bp readers, but I’m never sure how well it works and doesn’t seem as “doctor-y” as the ones they use in health care centers, the arm wrap version looked like a solid option to compare with. They also mention that this technology “meets the highest clinical standards” so thats nice to know.
Setup was pretty easy. Installed the batteries, follow the visual diagram and instruction on how to wrap your arm and go. Then download the app and do the initial setup. The one part that wasn’t smooth was the initial bluetooth connection. I followed the instructions but I couldn’t get it to show me the pairing numbers, but then somehow it started working by itself and hasn’t had a problem since (it automatically connects after the initial pairing). It stores over 30 measurements and appears to support 4 users that I’ve seen. I’m guessing thats 30 measurements each.
As far as accuracy goes, I ran tests both on the Beurer and the wrist one I’ve had, both results were actually pretty close, only a few points off and I made sure to run them right the other. The Diastole was actually very close between the two. I even went to my local pharmacy to compare the results thinking it might be more accurate, but that one seemed the most off. I’m assuming they lose calibration after so long, cause right when I got back home both my units tested similarly to each other and about 12-17 points different than the pharmacy one.
Overall, I’m pretty impressed with it. I like it more than the wrist version as it seems like a better quality product, and more secure grip and tightness when reading. The screen is nice and big and syncs quickly to my phone when completed so long as the app is open. I’m happy with it.

Made better for Androids so far.
on August 31, 2021
Posted by: Jp223
from Spring, Tx
TL:DR
Pros
- Voice Command works nicely
- 3-channel Cameras provide greater coverage
- Installation was fairly easy, just tedious running wires
- 4k Resolution on front camera
Cons
- No option for choosing video loop size
- No angle mobility for inside camera or camera as a whole
- Limited settings and explanation.
- Playback/Preview issues with video on Iphone
- iPhone App is sluggish and unresponsive, Android works well
I’ve owned about 3 dash cam’s before this one, all which have been pretty good and done the job. One thing that the others never provided was rear camera support which is what caught my eye with this one. Some dash cam’s have a second, rear facing camera attached to the front camera, but it doesn’t really give you a good view behind your vehicle. This one provides all 3 cameras.
I bought my first Rexing product about 2 months ago, a phone holder for my vehicle. Its exceeded my expectations and out-performed other top-rated products. That really gave them a leg up with this new product when looking to upgrade, so I was eager to see what else they could offer.
Installation
Installation was pretty straight-forward. The instructions were limited, but at the same time you are just mounting and running cables really. I’d say I spent about 45 minutes total with the installation. I drive a medium size truck and the cables were plenty long enough to go from the front to the back of the vehicle. One thing that seemed cheap were the little sticky tabs that hold/clip the wire and you can stick to along the bottom of the windshield. The stickiness didn’t hold and the plastic tab that holds the wire is cheap and bends easy, but the 3M sticky pad for the camera mounts was solid.
Also, when mounting the camera, there is no option to move or angle the front or inside camera. You can only slide the camera on and off the mount. If you need to move it to catch another angle for something, its not possible without removing it from the mount. The same with the indoor camera, so make sure before applying the mount to the windshield, you have the perfect angle. The rear camera however does allow you to rotate the camera up and down, so not sure why there was no flexibility with the front cameras.
Operations
One of the nicer features of this camera is the voice command. It works well, simple to use, and commands are fairly easy to memorize. They give you a card which I’ve been keeping in my truck until I get the commands memorized. It picks up on the commands well and reacts pretty quick with an audible confirmation. I have to repeat myself sometimes, but overall I really like it.
Settings seem pretty limited. No custom video quality settings for each camera, no option for selecting loop size. Its pretty bare currently, this could change in future software updates.
Display
So far from my experience, the display is okay. You can pick between showing the front camera, the back camera, or all 3 cameras. The inside camera doesn’t show by itself, only when all 3 cameras are selected does it appear. Not sure if anyone would want that feature, but just in case they were.
The inside camera has a weird hue to it on mine, it looks to have a purple type of night vision as you can see in the picture which might affect it during the day, but the front and rear camera look fine on the display. I don’t recall seeing the “hue” when I first started using it. You can see it in my attached picture.
Also a slight annoyance but not a big deal, the arrows and symbols on the camera referencing the buttons on the bottom don’t quite line up or its maybe designed to be firmly placed to the left of the buttons its assigned to (see picture).
Playback/Preview
Ok this is the biggest issue I’ve had so far. I have been able to connect my iPhone 11 to the camera via Wifi but cannot play/preview any of the videos. Operations are slow and when I try to hit play, it attempts, then just doesn’t do anything. You can still connect the camera to a computer to download the files directly via memory card adapter or connecting the camera directly with USB which I haven’t tried. This is kind of a big deal and hoping its easily fixed with a software/firmware update. The previews do show GPS speed, coordinates, time, and date which is nice.
When I voice command the photo function, it takes a picture of all 3 cameras which is nice. I don’t want to have to complicate the voice commands with specific cameras. I was able to access the pictures without issues on my iPhone, but again the interior camera looks a bit messed up with the color.
There’s also a Movie Mode in the settings menu of the camera itself. There is no explanation of these: 4k 30FPS, 4K+Pull 1080P, 4k+Ins 1080P. Not sure if this was for all cameras or the main one.
Update: I tried accessing the camera from an Android phone, the app and video playback worked very well. So many of my problems were related to the iphone app.
Conclusion
Overall the camera seems to have a lot of potential, but its almost like the camera was rushed to hit the market. The app struggles and lags big time on my iPhone while videos don’t playback, and more thought could have been put into the installation and user experience. It does have some good qualities though such as voice command and have a thorough coverage of your surroundings. I gave this product 4 stars instead of 3 because of the Android success I had with it. I’m sure with time, it will become a better device with updates.

Eufy never fails
on July 28, 2021

from Spring, Tx
I’m a big fan of Eufy products. I started with their Doorbell Camera a couple of years ago and have been adding their products since. Last year I purchased the Eufy Outdoor Wireless 1080p Security Floodlight Camera and it has been fantastic! When I saw an upgraded version with PTZ , brighter and more lights, and higher quality video recording…I had to jump on it.
All the Eufy products are pretty straight forward with the install and setup. Since I was upgrading, their Floodlight cameras use the same mounting hardware so it was an easy upgrade for me. Keep in mind I’m not a very handy person, but even the initial install was pretty easy for my home setup. It allows you to mount from a ceiling or against a wall, in my case it was against the wall.
Initial setup took 2-3 minutes with my phone, then once you mount it and hook everything up, its ready to go. From there I went through settings and fine tuned everything. In a nutshell, here are some things I really like about it:
- Tracking: The beauty with PTZ cameras is you can choose to track humans or any objects, and it will follow it.
- Previews for alerts show you a thumbnail picture of the persons face to help determine if you want to load the recording.
- Easy Motion Detection setup: You can create the distance from each side (Front, Right, Left) of how far you want the motion to be alerted. In Test mode it will create a beep in those area and you can expand or minimize it.
- PTZ has crazy good angels. Aside from the 360, it can look directly below the Floodlight.
- Extensive on-demand controls from the app: Includes turning lights on, 2-way audio, 360 camera spin around, and screenshot button.
I honestly don’t have anything against this product, normally I suggest an improvement but as stated I’m a big fan of Eufy products (this will be my 4th active Eufy camera for my home) and don’t have anything against it. On top of a solid a product, they don’t charge monthly fee’s, include on-board memory so no need to add a memory card, and there appears to be an option to configure it to store with a NAS (home network storage device). I believe you can pay for cloud storage services through Eufy, but I have yet to do that.
Overall, it seems like a step up from my previous camera and I think it’s a great addition to home security. If you’re on the fence, go for it!

Quiet and Good Looking Grinder

I’ve been using cheaper grinder for about 6 months and thought I would give this one a try. My old one is loud and doesn’t do a very good job grinding all the beans, I have to shake it up pretty hard to mix the grinds to get them all. Cue the Fellow Grinder…
My first impression was “this box is heavy!”. It sure wasn’t a lightweight item which always reflects quality to me, but I really wasn’t expecting so much weight. Setup was near-nothing, ready to grind within 30 seconds or less. It looks amazing, it has a modern black look to it that really accommodates any kitchen. The magnetic catch cup is nice as it’s easy to remove while keeping it in place. The settings dial is nice to let you pick the size of your grinds and tells you for what purpose the size is used for, its listed under the lid so you don’t forget.
After spending a few days with it already, I do have mixed feelings towards it. One thing I really enjoy about it is quietness it has for chopping up all those beans, almost pleasantly quiet. I would divert from using my old grinder because it was too loud in the morning and didn’t want to risk waking people up if I was grinding extra early. The first batch went great and did a good even job, but my second use of the grinder resulted in getting jammed. I followed the instructions to fix a minor jam, but it didn’t help. I ended up having to turn it upside down (keep in mind its weight) and shake all the beans out to get it working again. Used it a few more times just fine and then again, the same problem.
Aside from the jams, my coffee beans seem to get stuck going down into the grinder from the reservoir. By stuck, it just means they needed a little push. I’m sure it’s the texture on the beans that causes it, but its something to note. The grinder will typically continue grinding as long as beans are feeding into it, so its nice to just hit one button and have it all quietly done for you, but sometimes you just have to feed the beans in yourself.
One other small issue is it seems to get the grinds everywhere on the counter. There is a latch, called a “grinds knocker” you push (repeatedly) to help knock off any grinds between the grinder and the catch cup, but even then somehow it seems like I get grinds in places besides the catch can.
Overall, I think it’s a great looking grinder that could use a little more power and small design improvements. If it were at a more affordable price point, I probably wouldn’t be as picky, but I do expect more for a premium. Your experience may vary depending on the types of coffee beans you use though.

Unleash the power of the Samsung 980 PRO with Heatsink for next-level computing. With a PCIe® 4.0 NVMe™ interface, get up to 2x the data transfer rate of PCIe® 3.0¹ while remaining compatible with PCIe® 3.0. ¹Results are based on a comparison with Samsung PCIe® 3.0 NVMe SSDs and SATA SSDs.

Anyone know if the heatsink is easily removable in case I want to use it in a gaming laptop? I am not sure this will fit my laptop 2nd bay, Asus ROG m16 SSD slot. Thanks!

Not easily, but its possible. Be ready to void your warranty though.

Does it have a mini display port of thunderbolt 3 port? If so can I dual monitor 1 being in the hdmi port and the other with an adapter?

Only video port is HDMI. You can get an HDMI to Display Port adapter for there or there is USB C which you can get a docking station that has additional video ports for.

Does the eero 6 do automatic updates?

It checks for updates automatically and it prompted me to install them, it did so during my setup. I don't see an option to install them automatically, more than likely it'll prompt you so it doesn't disrupt your wifi service unexpectantly.

Monitor your indoor or outdoor premises with these Night Owl HD wired surveillance cameras . Color Boost technology with long-range night vision helps to capture full-color video in low light, while a 100-degree field of view offers enhanced coverage with fewer blind spots. These Night Owl HD wired surveillance cameras feature motion-activated spotlights to deter potential intruders in real time.

Will these cameras work with my Night Owl F6-DVR8?

This camera system is independent and does not use a DVR system. It stores video locally on the camera's themselves and uses the app to control them through the HomeBase included.

Can I hook up 3 monitors? thx

By default, no. There are only 2 ports on the video card. However you can purchase a usb adapter to add additional monitors. We did this at my work to support users who needed 3 monitors. See the products I recommended.
