Impressed with the Immersive Audio
on October 17, 2023

What a great pair of headphones. I’ve been sticking to wireless earbuds lately because they’re convenient when working out, but you miss out on some sound quality with them. While I still prefer the earbuds at the gym since I have trouble keeping over-the-ear headphones on, this is a great option when I’m not at the gym.
Setup was simple with their app, it basically connected the Bluetooth for you and its intuitive to use. There are only 2 buttons on the headset which I appreciate since it makes operation simpler to remember. You can connect two devices at once to the headset via Bluetooth when enabling Multi-point…I have my PC and mobile phone connected at once.
I’m really impressed with the auto sleep function. Once you take the headphones off your head, they go into a sleep mode to preserve battery. When you put them back on, they wake up. From my experience so far, they seem to know the difference between being picked up and being put on your head (ears to be exact), so they won’t wake up just by moving them around. Also, if someone tries to talk to you while the headphones are on, if you pick up the right side to listen to them, it pauses audio. This is a nice feature to have, and the sleep function seems to do a good job at preserving battery. So if you use them regularly, you don’t really need to worry about turning them on and off.
Now the immersive sound. I have an Atmos gaming headset for my PC games, and have a 5.1.2 Atmos home theater setup, so I definitely appreciate spatial sound. These seem to be on a different level with immersive sound. There are 2 options, Still and Motion. I really like the Still option. The sound moves between the headphones as if a concert is happening in front of you. It also seems to have a much richer sound when enabled. The Motion option is if you are moving, but so far I prefer Still mode.
The side of the headphone has a touch sensitive volume slider. Its okay, not great. I’ve had some trouble getting it to change volume at times, and it works well other times. I like to control most of headphone settings from the App since its very easy, and better than trying to remember what buttons does what and how long to hold it, including switch between Immersive profiles.
I don’t think anyone would regret getting a pair of these, they really do sound great.

The 800 cfm – 12-amp Electric Turbine Blower is, quite simply, the most powerful electric blower in the marketplace. Other 800 cfm (Cubic Feet per Minute) blowers don’t put out wind power at 135 mph. Physics shouldn’t allow it, but our engineers found a workaround. And even though you’re going to want to blow at that speed all the time, you can use the variable speed control to dial it down. When you need even more power than the 800 cfm/135 mph can provide, there’s the Hyper-Stream nozzle that focuses all the airflow right where you need it. Believe it or not, all that power can be controlled with one hand. The whole unit is only 6.6 lbs., and that amazing Turbine tech creates a wind tunnel that is easy to point. The cord retainer keeps extension cords from pulling apart, even on snags. And you don’t need any tools to put it together. Time to go clear that lawn.

Great upgrade!
on October 10, 2023
Posted by: Jp223
This leaf blower has been a big upgrade from my previous blower. While my previous corded blower has been good the past 10 years or so, I didn’t know what I was missing out on until I tried this one! The assembly is super easy and only takes seconds, only one piece to snap on. I compared air flow (more of a blast) between the two blowers, and its way higher with this Worx. It’s a little more bulky than my last one, but still was easy enough for my petite fiancé to use as well, without any issues.
I really like the speed control option you can easily switch between with your thumb. Its nice not to have something running full blast, especially when its this powerful, particularly when doing small jobs. We live near a lake and the amount of spider webs and dead flies that accumulates in our garage builds up quickly. Within 2 minutes, I wiped out months of accumulated webs and bugs without having to touch anything. Even in the hard to reach areas, it blasted all the debris out and it made it look 10x better. Beats those extendable cleaning rods we use for the indoors. Move leaves and pine needles was quick work with this thing. I’m ready to tackle fall with this blower.

Finally a real gaming desktop replacement!
on August 23, 2023
Posted by: Jp223
Going to try to give an in-depth review since I did a lot of research on this laptop. My first and overall impression, is that this thing is fast! As my title states, this is the first gaming laptop I’ve owned that can truly replace my gaming desktop. Keep in mind, my gaming desktop runs an AMD 5800x, RTX 3080 video card, with 64GB of memory. Its not cutting edge or top of the line, but it is a solid desktop for everything I’ve thrown at it for 2k gaming and more. This laptop’s benchmark scores meet or surpassed those of my desktop. I’ve been PC gaming for the past 25 years, and owned half a dozen gaming laptops, and this one by far takes the cake when comparing it to a desktop.
The price of the Predator is actually pretty good when comparing it to other brands with similar specs, I was quite surprised. My one actual disappointment was that the laptop did not come with 32GB of memory, which should be the standard for any gaming machine in 2023. My work computer has 16GB and I max that out with Office and browser tabs. Luckily they give you the ability to upgrade memory, up to 32GB of memory which I have done. For the record, all my benchmark tests were performed with the 16GB of memory that came with it. I upgraded after running them.
First impressions.
First and foremost, the keyboard lighting effects are pretty awesome. I’ve never been a big fan of lights, whether added to monitors or other peripherals, but I gotta give Acer credit for keyboard lights, they are amazing! You pick the type of response you want from the PredatorSense app, many cool options there.
Next the build quality is heavy, but not HEAVY. I like this because it makes it feel like quality. I’ve had some super lightweight gaming laptops that just made wonder how powerful can this really be? There is no question about it, quality feel all around. The 5 USB ports are nice to have too. Many laptops these days try to limit the ports to create an Apple clone of a minimalist style... no thanks. I want my gaming laptop flooded with ports, 3 USB A and 2 USB C are great to have. Not to mention ethernet and memory card slot. The screen is decent, can get pretty bright, 3ms response, and runs at 240Hz, but probably won’t win any awards. Most the time I’m hooked up to a larger gaming monitor, but a good screen in-between those times
More good stuff….
The cooling on this laptop is insane. Every gaming laptop I’ve used heats up tremendously, even around the keyboard level. My gaming partner’s laptop gets so hot he can’t touch the keyboard sometimes. The keyboard or really any of the laptop doesn’t even get warm. Yet, I’m playing games on the highest quality of settings they offer. Its wild that there is no heat on the top. The fans can get loud, but that expected when gaming. You have different profiles you can switch between with one physical button which is convenient without having to jump into an app. You can also switch profiles within PredatorSense, which has its own physical key shortcut on the keyboard.
Performance
Wow is all I can say. The 2 main games I’ve been playing on it are MWII and Diablo 4. I have the settings set to Extreme on MWII, and get anywhere from 150-200 FPS on a 2k monitor still! Diablo is maxed out as well, colors look good and zero lag. For a gaming GPU, I’m very impressed. Gaming is super smooth and no lag is noticed. The hard drive that came with the laptop runs exceptionally fast as well, and they allow you to add a second drive which I have done too. My benchmark scores are below ran from out of the box:
3d Mark
Speed Way Graphics Score - 4771
Port Royal (Default) - Overall Score - 11991
Time Spy (Default) - Overall Score - 18161
CPU Profile - Max Threads - 11916
Cinebench R23 CPU - Multi - 29210
CrystalDiskMark (oem C Drive)- See attached pic
Even more good stuff…
Stock memory runs at 5600MHz, but in order to get the full 5600 speed from newer memory sticks IF you upgrade the memory, you’ll need to update the BIOS to version 1.12 which just came out in July. They made this very easy, just go to their support section for this laptop and download the exe, you can just run it in Windows and it’ll reboot and install automatically. No need for a USB drive and fumbling through the bios menu. I also think Acer went above by offering a free silicone case included with this laptop. This goes without saying, but this computer is fast. Not just for gaming, but I run trading software along with keeping many browsers and tabs open, with software running in the background that I use throughout the day. Once I got past installing all the updates and programs, rebooted a few times, this computer is a beast. No lag, stutter, or stalling…but keep in mind I did upgrade to 32GB of memory, so I can throw more open apps at once at it. Also the boot-up time is speedy. The DTS-X compatibility is a nice option to have. I’ve mostly played with Atmos, but have heard DTS-X is just as good if not better for home theaters, so I look forward to comparing the two.
The NOT so good stuff.
I have to mention the bad with the good. First, I already mentioned that I don’t think 16GB is suitable for a gaming laptop of this caliber. Well in order to take off the bottom cover to add memory or another HD, you need a T socket (T5 or T6). I did not have one this small so on top of buying more memory, I had to buy this kit. Also, it says the max memory is 32GB, but I believe this chipset can handle more, would have loved to see this number increased to 64GB. Next, I wish they had the PredatorSense app search for new drivers for you automatically, or their website could automatically scan your computer to see what drivers you needed and upgrade them all with one click. Its more of a manual process from what I could find, but not a deal breaker compared to other vendors. They do have the Acer care center app which does provide updates, but not sure if its drivers since it didn’t pull any up for me before I updated. This last one is a little nit picky, but I like to have dedicated volume buttons near the keyboard. Instead these
are tied in with the function buttons.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with this gaming laptop. I’m actually surprised Acer stepped it up as a true competitor. I’m proud that I can use this as a true desktop replacement and my experiences with games and using it for work purposes has been excellent. Its definitely the best mobile gaming computer I’ve ever used and I feel like most of this tech is quite new, you are future proofing yourself for at least the next 2-3 years when it comes to top of the line gaming and probably 4+ years as a personal or work computer. I’d definitely recommend this.

Pretty ‘Cool’ Fan
on August 21, 2023
Posted by: Jp223
What a great addition to our home. It provides better airflow directly to us than a standard ceiling fan, and there really are no noticeable moving parts. The aesthetics of it, as all Dyson products, is a nice fit to our home. Assembly was easy and quick, and its ready to go within 1 -2 min after opening. You really don’t even need the instructions because the operation of it is simple and intuitive.
One of the better features is that its quieter than a normal fan, which is great since we work from home and enjoy a way to stay cooler during the hot summers without the extra noise during meetings or calls. With the remote we don’t even have to get up to make any changes to it, just point and click..
The remote is small, and easy to use. 4 simple functions with the remote: Power, Oscillating, Speed, and Timer options. The remote fits in your hand comfortably and even has a magnetic attachment to the top of the fan to help you not misplace it. Its quite responsive but you do need to be facing the front of the fan for it to work.
The only thing I wasn’t impressed with was the power cord length. While this is not a deal breaker of any kind, it can be an inconvenience. I’d say the cord is roughly about 5 feet long just looking at it. Having the flexibility to move it around a room more would be nice, but nothing a small extension cord can’t fix. Overall its a great fan to have and puts out a good amount of air considering it doesn’t use traditional fan blades. We have received several compliments from our guests on how nice it is.

Small and portable
on August 21, 2023
Posted by: Jp223
I’m happy with the size of this portable SSD drive, especially considering the high storage capacity. I ran a couple of speed tests and I was consistently getting over 1000MB/s read speed, and just under 1000MB/s for write speed which is expected and pretty dang good in my opinion. I recently switched computers and this was a great device to help move files, as well as storing backups and moving large video files around.
One thing I was not impressed with is they advertise that this drive has password protection capabilities, almost heavily advertise it, but there is none currently. According to their site in fine print, you can use Windows Bitlocker Go to add encryption to your drive, which you can do with pretty much any standard USB drive, BUT you need to have Windows Pro which majority of home users don’t have. They do say they have their “Crucial Portable SSD Utility application for Windows and macOS launching September 2023” which is right around the corner, but not available as of this writing. The Crucial Storage Executive software does not seem to support this drive (yet) as I’ve tried 2 different computers to run it on but it only detects the onboard hard drives, but I’m not sure the software is designed to work with portable SSD’s or just regular SSD’s.
I do like how this tiny drive is drop and splash proof, and lightweight, making it more convenient to carry around with you. It also carries a 5 year warranty, so you have a guarantee of 5 years of use…something you don’t see often with electronics. Crucial is a solid brand for memory and storage for many years, and I trust them with my data.

Impressive Range!
on August 15, 2023
Posted by: Jp223
Starting off, I have to say Corsair made some nice improvements with this headset over previous models. I’m on a headset throughout the day, whether its for work meetings during the day or gaming in the evenings with friends. I’ve used Corsair headsets throughout the past 15 years or so, first one being a basic wired one along with a handful of other high end wireless ones.
Starting off, the range is amazing. This is more important for my meetings as I like to move around the house during remote meetings, its perfect! I recently had to move my home office but keep my work computer in the old office, and I can be anywhere in the house (2500sq/ft) with a clear solid signal, love it!
The next benefit to this is the battery life. I charged it last week and used it for several days already with no issues, which is not surprising since it states it can handle up to 65 hours (130 hours with Bluetooth!) I also really enjoy the minimal buttons on the headset….a lot. Headsets come with a mix of buttons and dials, all stuff that gets confusing trying to figure out what is what in the dark or while playing a game. They kept it super simple….power and bluetooth, and they’re on opposite ear pieces. Plus you have a volume control. The mute is tied to the mic position, raise the mic and it gets muted, lower it and you are unmuted. Simple and easy.
The one thing I’m not a fan of is the comfort of the ear pieces. I do not have big ears, but wearing this for an hour or longer can make my ears sore and uncomfortable, but you don’t notice it for awhile since the padding is soft. I wish they used the soft padding of previous models of their headset such as the Virtuoso, very cushy. There’s also not much of a way to fold these headsets if you plan to travel with them, they do flatten but no carry case is included with them.
Gaming sounds great and clear, especially with the Atmos technology. My gaming buddy told me I sounded loud and clear right off the bat and he didn’t even know I upgraded headsets. Atmos gaming is a must when possible, particularly for first person shooters such as the Call of Duty games where footsteps are crucial. The iCue software allows you to manage lighting on the headset, key assignments, even install an Nvidia Broadcast to work with it. Additional lighting will drain the battery faster so I usually won’t use it.
Overall I’m quite impressed with this headset. The range, simplicity, and battery life make it a great choice even for non-gamers, but gaming is great. I generally can’t have my computer speakers as loud as I’d like since my office is next to our kids room, the headset def makes up for it. My past Corsair headsets have lasted for years without issues, and Corsair also carries a nice 2 year warranty which gives me peace of mind.

Big Sound!
on July 25, 2023
Posted by: Jp223
This thing is heavy-duty, which I like because that translates to quality and good battery life to me. Its heavier than I expected, and probably the heaviest portable speaker I’ve ever owned. Its been a great experience so far. It looks good, sounds clean, and gets LOUD! Battery life has lasted hours without barely dropping the percentage down.
Setup is simple and you get more options when you download the LG XBOOM app. You can see battery life percentage, have EQ presets, customize lighting options including (turning them on and off), sleep timer, Party Link setup, and even turn off the speaker remotely. I like the app as it has a simple and clean layout and doesn’t overwhelm you with too many options, I always like quick and easy.
The lighting feature is a nice bonus, you can adjust mood lighting to your choice and even the brightness for the side lights. The Stage light is a new concept for me, but I’m starting to see how you can take advantage of it, especially at pool parties or night time events.
I’ve owned many portable Bluetooth speakers, its one of the most important things I like to have when I go do outdoor activities. This is by far the best sounding and powerful combo I’ve experienced. I can’t stand speakers that barely push the limits and can’t hear over a small crowd. You won’t have this problem with this speaker. Bass hits clean with these 2 woofers. The one thing to note about this speaker is that the speakers are front facing, so even though the design looks like its 360 design its not, but again it gets so loud I’m sure at any angle you’ll hear the music just fine. The charger is a bit bulky too, but you shouldn’t need to bring it around with you very much.
I’m very excited to bust out this speaker over the summer for outdoor events including hooking up sound to my outdoor projector through aux cable. Having the built-in charger for your phone is a nice bonus. I wish I had this speaker years ago.

Solid reliable hard drive from Samsung
on July 18, 2023
Posted by: Jp223
This is a great drive at a very reasonable price to upgrade to. I am a PC user who upgraded from a Samsung 980 Pro. Samsung is a premium brand and its hard drives are no exception. I’ve used them for years without any issues and will only use select brands to store my data.
I ran benchmark scores on my PCIe 4.0 motherboard against both the 980 and 990 pro. I did a clone copy of the 980 to create a test environment that was more evenly matched before running the tests, so the only difference is the amount of free space, which I had plenty on both.
While I got nowhere near the advertised speeds posted by Samsung, they were still very fast. I almost never get the posted speeds by any hard drive maker, it all depends on your hardware setup. I do have a gaming rig, but far from cutting edge hardware. Unfortunately, the speed tests didn’t have a huge difference in speeds except for the sequential write speed which nearly got 2GB/s faster. The read speed was comparable and the 980 even beat the 990 in some areas. I ran the speed test for the 990 3 times and it would get more consistent as I ran it. I’ve attached photos of the benchmarks of both drives.
If you do a lot of writing to drives or have newer computer hardware, I’d recommend going for the 990 Pro, otherwise saving you a few bucks for the 980 Pro will probably be just fine for you. Do keep in mind this one is the model that comes with a heatsink, which can cause issues when trying to add it to tight spaces such as laptops. My desktop motherboard chipset heatsinks in the past have gotten in the way before, so check you have clearance for a slightly bulkier hard drive. You can always go for the option without the heatsink.

Great option for the family on long trips
on June 12, 2023
Posted by: Jp223
I’ve always enjoyed Rexing car products, and as we get more devices while getting ready for summer travel, this plug is just what we needed for the longer drives. I currently have a Phone magnetic (magsafe) mount on my Windshield, and a separate phone charger for my passenger, but we have 2 girls that need extra juice at times and this car charger fit the bill. Most devices are moving to USB C, but most of my cables are still USB A, so it was important there was still a USB A adapter available. I’m also glad this came with a USB C cable…nice bonus.
The biggest attraction for this was the 100W charging port, which is great for our Chromebook and tablets. My concern was if it could still charge at a decent speed using the chargers simultaneously. I decided to test this during a 40 minute drive I had to do for work. I brought my Chromebook which was completely dead. I plugged it in and had my phone on the charger as well, just to see how well it would charge. Well when I got to my destination about 35-40 minutes after plugging it in, it was already to 40%! Keep in mind I was also charging my phone for about 90% of that time too. By the time I got back home which it charged roughly about the same amount of time, I was at 95%.
I never thought a 12v car charger adapter could put out enough power to charge larger devices like this without using some sort of bulky inverter, but I am impressed.

Quality thermostat from a solid brand
on May 25, 2023
Posted by: Jp223
I’ve been using Sensi for the past 4-5 years, and I recommend them to anyone in the market for a smart Thermostat. The previous models worked great. They have all the functionality of the other brands, but at a much better price. The only thing that I wasn’t a big fan of the previous model, was the look which seemed a little outdated. Plus it never seemed to get an update after years of usage. I just moved houses a few months ago and bought another one, which looked identical from the one I had from years before. Cue the touch screen version.
This one is smaller and more sleek, and adds a touch of a modern look to your home. This model was ideal compared to the big brother version as I dont have a C-wire (common wire) setup in my house. I’m skeptical about touch screens though as I’ve had my share of devices that aren’t responsive or required multiple touches to register a command. This one actually seems to work quite well though. ###Even though I use the app
First the install was pretty straight forward, especially since I was replacing a Sensi. The one thing is, since this is a smaller unit, it was tougher to squeeze the cables together as you don’t have much room to store the wires behind the unit. This unit also takes AAA batteries vs the AA the older unit took, so hoping battery life still lasts for months. Once I got it installed and setup on the app, it was just like using the old version on the phone. It syncs with my Google Home and Samsung Smart Things which is great, and still gets the functionality of the older unit on this even with a smaller screen and less buttons.
Since there are no buttons except for 3 touchscreen points, up/down/…(menu), it takes a little more navigating without the extra buttons, but no big deal since I use my app to control most of the settings. LCD is bright but not overly bright. Overall, I think its a good thermostat for your home and stand by their brand. Can’t beat the quality and price of Sensi.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Unleash the power of the Samsung 980 PRO with Heatsink for next-level computing. With a PCIe® 4.0 NVMe™ interface, get up to 2x the data transfer rate of PCIe® 3.0¹ while remaining compatible with PCIe® 3.0. ¹Results are based on a comparison with Samsung PCIe® 3.0 NVMe SSDs and SATA SSDs.

Anyone know if the heatsink is easily removable in case I want to use it in a gaming laptop? I am not sure this will fit my laptop 2nd bay, Asus ROG m16 SSD slot. Thanks!

Not easily, but its possible. Be ready to void your warranty though.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus Ultraportable Gaming Laptop. Enjoy everyday gaming with this ROG notebook PC. The AMD Ryzen 9 processor and 16GB of RAM let you run graphics-heavy games smoothly, while the potent NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics produce high-quality visuals on the fast 14-inch 144hz FHD display. Does it have a mini display port of thunderbolt 3 port? If so can I dual monitor 1 being in the hdmi port and the other with an adapter?

Only video port is HDMI. You can get an HDMI to Display Port adapter for there or there is USB C which you can get a docking station that has additional video ports for.

Experience Wi-Fi 6—the new standard for home wifi. The 3-pack Wi-Fi 6 system supports speeds up to 500 Mbps and coverage up to 5,000 square feet—so you can say goodbye to dead spots and buffering. Work, play, video conference, and stream from anywhere in your home. Set up eero in minutes and get automatic updates, a built-in Zigbee smart home hub, and more. Powered by TrueMesh, eero optimizes your wifi to work for your space and supports 75+ devices.

Does the eero 6 do automatic updates?

It checks for updates automatically and it prompted me to install them, it did so during my setup. I don't see an option to install them automatically, more than likely it'll prompt you so it doesn't disrupt your wifi service unexpectantly.

Monitor your indoor or outdoor premises with these Night Owl HD wired surveillance cameras . Color Boost technology with long-range night vision helps to capture full-color video in low light, while a 100-degree field of view offers enhanced coverage with fewer blind spots. These Night Owl HD wired surveillance cameras feature motion-activated spotlights to deter potential intruders in real time.

Will these cameras work with my Night Owl F6-DVR8?

This camera system is independent and does not use a DVR system. It stores video locally on the camera's themselves and uses the app to control them through the HomeBase included.

Can I hook up 3 monitors? thx

By default, no. There are only 2 ports on the video card. However you can purchase a usb adapter to add additional monitors. We did this at my work to support users who needed 3 monitors. See the products I recommended.
