Super fast, not super hot, and does its job!
on November 7, 2020

from PHILLY SUBURBS
I've been a believer in most everything Belkin puts out because it usually works and works well. This charger is no exception. My problem with fast chargers is that they get super hot and as an electronics junkie, I know if the transformers are getting hot, that means the insides are getting hot, and they will fail in time. The part I like about this is that this does not get hot. It gets slightly warm, but not hot. And I've used it to charge an iPad and iPhone, both with depleted batteries at the same time, without any issue at all. And they both charged quickly.
This is a great charging accessory for home, travel, etc. because it has two fast charging ports instead of one fast and one slow, which can be very annoying.
It is a decent charger, at a very good price, and is well built. I'm sure this will give me years of use as with most everything I've owned that is Belkin. It gives you the feeling of confidence when you handle this and use this.

Great sound, great battery life, but a bit fragile
on November 7, 2020
Posted by: stevefromtheburbs
from PHILLY SUBURBS
Let me say, I love these! I think they sound awesome, they have incredible battery life, and frankly fit better than any other earbud type headsets I've worn to date. No kidding. They are comfortable with glasses, and the neckband fits right into your neck/clothes, without any issues at all. You almost forget you have a neckband, it is so comfortable.
The only thing I'd mention is that they are not indestructible because the neckband has wires that go the ear pieces. For most responsible adults, that trade off for longer battery life, is totally worth it. It is for me. But for teens or younger children, you might consider this. Or if you are one that doesn't like to deal with any wires.
However, for sound quality alone, they are worth it. Add in the other things I've mentioned, and you'll see they are a very good value. No constantly having to charge to get through the day, no falling out of your ears, etc. All those things you might have been going through already, or don't want to go through, this solves all of that.
Give them a try. You won't be disappointed. Oh yes, the controls on the neck band beat tapping your earbuds by a long shot. Easy to use, easy to remember what is where, etc. Well thought out design.

If you like iced drinks or smoothies, love is near
on November 1, 2020

from PHILLY SUBURBS
So when I first opened this up, I was a bit disappointed and even amazed that the blender jar was plastic, not glass. But the motor unit weighed a lot. In thinking of Kitchen-Aid, I knew this had to be a purposeful move, not a move to save money.
I have a daughter, who does the dishes on many nights. And this blender jar and cups would be going in the dishwasher. However, if you have had someone near you who is a bit clumsy or whatever, you spend your life worried sick about them breaking glass stuff. So, honestly, this is a real blessing that this is all done in plastic. It isn't cheesy plastic, but it's not what I expected so I figured I'd get this out of the way first.
Secondly, with a wife who is severely damaged both with arthritis and through a botched surgery that destroyed her ulnar nerve, you'd understand when I say plastic blender jar and plastic cups are good!
So, as for the blending function, it does what it is supposed to do, including chunking up ice into your smoothie. I have used it to process up food for the dogs dinner, make smoothies, destroy ice cubes to make chipped ice for drinks, etc. without a single issue. It is no joke, it is a powerhouse.
IT comes with the blender jar, but also two smoothie cups that you can blend into directly - which helps to keep your drink in your cup and not on the inside stuck to the sides of the blender. Smart!
For anyone really, but especially for anyone who has special needs for things that are not glass for weight or breakage concerns, you'll want to consider this first. Trust me, the broken glass and weight of glass thing is bigger than you realize. It does what it does well, without any concern, and cleans up nicely in the dishwasher!

I was skeptical, but I'm starting to like this
on October 22, 2020
Posted by: stevefromtheburbs
from PHILLY SUBURBS
I've been a sonic toothbrush user for years now, since my dentist had said I needed to switch to one because of the benefits of it. It shows in the results of my dental visits (and lack of during the lockdown). However, it was not this brand. So I was a bit concerned about this for one major reason. It does not have a lot of sonic oomph to it. But I will say, that might be a misunderstanding on my part, because my teeth feel clean when I'm done brushing. And while it feels a bit like a travel toothbrush compared to the one I normally use, I think it is better than I was initially thinking.
The app is really amazing, I really like the stats that are coming out of the toothbrush. G force, time, etc. Stuff that can help you learn how to brush better than before. And a recorded result that you can see is better than simply a vibration that tells you time is up. It gives you visual feedback that you can see how to improve your brushing. I think this is very powerful.
So I say all of this because if I'm learning to brush better, and getting feedback that I'm doing better, even if there isn't as much sonic boom going on with the brush, the fact I'm brushing better might make up for that in the long run - in fact, I really think that might be the case. The brush head is much more comfortable to use than my existing brush and this makes me want brush longer. That has to help too.
The subscription service is a service, I get it, they make money. But the costs for the service aren't unreasonable and will ensure you have a steady supply of the things you need without having to remember to pick them up at the store or order them online - they just appear and that prompts you to replace the brush head when it needs it, not when you get around to it. So that is cool. And they have coupons for signing up for the service.
Was I sold at first? No. Am I now? Yes, and I think as I use it more, I'll realize the long term benefits of learning how to brush better. Let's face it, from the time I was a kid and dental care was not a big emphasis item, learning to do better and the positive reinforcement of succeeding in this, is invaluable. While we tend to shortcut brushing on nights we are tired or mornings we are late, knowing I'm going to be able to look at this and see how I'm doing overall, will encourage me to stay with it longer and longer, doing better and better. And for this reason, if nothing else, I would recommend this. Not to mention it is a nice little toothbrush that takes up way less space than the monster brush I have been using. Oh, and the replacement heads cost a fortune for the one I've been using, and these are very reasonably priced.

A serious and decent toaster oven - an appliance
on October 19, 2020
Posted by: stevefromtheburbs
from PHILLY SUBURBS
This is no little $20 toaster oven that fails in a couple of months. This is a serious appliance that I didn't even know they made. It is a toaster oven, an oven, broiler, etc. but not an air fryer. I'm happy about that because I have air fryers and they are good at what they do, but they aren't good at toast. I know it sounds crazy, but I have an oven/air fryer combo unit that is really an air fryer and it does not do toast the same.
Toast that is basically air fried, tastes weird. I like toast in a toaster. And sometimes I like to bake in a smaller oven than my "normal" oven but not use the air fryer bake feature because that tends to overcook the food on the outside and not on the inside as completely as this does, in particular with frozen food items.
Today I made toast, a bagel with cheese and bacon, heated up a larger frozen dinner, and then made a couple of small frozen pizzas in this. All were a success. This uses the quartz heater concept and I heard a little fan that I think is just to cool the unit maybe, but not to circulate the air, and that is why I like this.
Be aware, this is not small. And the sides, back, top, and glass door do get very hot. But it does the job, and it does it well. No more making toast two slices at a time in morning, or waffles two at a time, you can put up to 6 slices of bread, frozen waffles, etc. in here and cook all at one time saving time and money on the electric bill.
One of the best features for someone who cleans the kitchen and appliances? The pull out crumb drawer. Thank you, engineers at GE, for this most wonderful feature! No having to reach around heating elements and/or trying to hold the unit upside down to get the crumbs out! Bravo!
The controls are clear and concise, the LCD display is a very nice feature, and the knobs are intuitive to selection and shade/temperature. This is an appliance, this is no throw away unit. I'm sure, based on the construction and the very nice look of the unit, that it will be around for many years to come.

A great sized fryer for many, cooks fast and well
on October 17, 2020
Posted by: stevefromtheburbs
from PHILLY SUBURBS
I've had great luck with Bella appliances and this is no exception. While it may be larger than some need, this is a great size for our family. You can easily cook 4 larger burgers, or a big bag of frozen french fries, or even a couple of larger steaks. Very decent size.
My initial reaction was this is great for fries, and it does them well. I've also used it for canned potatoes, and other things, but not meats. Then I got brave and cooked some burgers. What a great burger! The best part is, and if you've used an air fryer before you'll know clean up is a pain, but this one lets you just put the stuff in the dishwasher after washing out the grease. And it doesn't rust. Pop the plate and drawer in there, comes out sparkling clean!
I wanted to mention that I like the little mama Celeste pizzas and they are perfect sized for this! Or slices of leftover pizza. But this will not cook your grocery store sized frozen pizza....the inside dimensions are maybe 9" and some change in both width and length. So that won't work with a 12" store bought pizza. However, the smaller ones might make it.
On the flip side, it is good for reheating many foods too. Got some wings from the grocery store cold food area? Pop them in and let them cook. Maybe some fried chicken from your takeout place? Reheat it and the sides, and it will come out amazing.
My favorite food in this is making my own grilled cheese. Super crispy and the grease drains down into the pan. Healthier than pan frying too.
This unit has lots of presets, and is very easy to figure out. You'll realize that most of the time you can simply air fry stuff for a certain time and you'll be good. That is what happens with me.
Anyway, this is a top shelf item and will not be a disappointment.

Best release from JLAB to date! Amazing!
on October 13, 2020
Posted by: stevefromtheburbs
from PHILLY SUBURBS
My review starts with telling you when they were delivered, the delivery driver stacked a bunch of on the stoop in front of the storm door; that means I had to use the storm door to push the pile off the stoop onto the walkway. And when that happened, I was stepping down and ending up stepping on the this package. I expected the worse, but the box wasn't even really damaged. And the charging case, everything was okay!
Anyway, I have to say, I love these. They are amazing. The battery life, the sound quality, the features, everything. The fit is good, they stay put. And they have noise canceling, or no noise cancelling, or the be aware feature so you hear some stuff. Very cool! I paired the up to my iPhone and had zero issues. The quick start guide is very informative and while I don't normally read the book I did this time and glad I did, some great info in a quick to the point type of thing. Nice.
The charging case is sturdy, with magnetic holders to get them to settle in perfectly and firmly. The hinge is nice too. The lights on the case will show you the status of the charge of the case, but when you put earbuds in, they show you two bright blue lights that fade on/off to show they are charging. Very nicely done. I cannot stand not knowing if things are or are not charging.
Speaking of charging and the case, there is a USB charging cable built into the case! Pull it out and while a short cord, lets you plug into a USB charger. This is so nice, not a micro-usb, plug it in like it was a mouse or keyboard, or into a USB charger, and you are good to go. Will charge the case battery.
The sound quality is great! I was listening to Brian Crane (classical), Frank Sinatra (Standards), Bad Company and other classic rock, plus doing a few phone calls. Nothing bad, all good. The equalizer choices are good, having three pre-programmed is a nice touch. I found the sound quality is even better if you get the right sized cones on the earbuds - they include 3 sets beyond what is pre-installed. So find a good fit to seal off your ear canal so you can get the full effect. Amazing sound for earbuds.
Great job JLAB, solid product, great sound quality, and frankly I'd consider these over the ones you might have been thinking are the most popular. These stay in your ears, and sound great. Plus a better case.

For some, the small size is the perfect fit!
on October 13, 2020
Posted by: stevefromtheburbs
from PHILLY SUBURBS
In my house, with 2 adults and 2 grown children, most might think that a smaller air fryer will not be that useful. I thought that too. But with 2 grown kids living at home, this is just the ticket for them in many situations. They are both working from home. Both are on different schedules. And both like to eat completely different things at different times. Using the toaster oven is lengthy and an electricity waster. Using the full size air fryer/oven, is a bigger waste of electricity for something small. I'm talking about heating up some small stuff they eat. Maybe some frozen burritos, or even re-heating some rice from the local asian food place they had for dinner last night. Perfect! (put it in a metal bowl onto the tray). Grilled cheese? Absolutely. A great choice for small things for sure.
Some of the cool stuff about this, the floor of the air fryer, the part that holds the food, can be adjusted up or down. Cooking a burger? Move the tray up, so the grease has plenty of room to sit below the food.
When done, just clear the grease into an empty plastic cup, wipe out the excess grease, and then put it right into the dishwasher. Cleans up easily this way.
This heats up easily, isn't complicated with the manual dials, and the food comes out crispy and yummy. No worries about the touch pad getting broken, it is simple analog dials. Perfect for the kids to use.

A trip down memory lane! Great keyboard w/light!
on October 5, 2020
Posted by: stevefromtheburbs
from PHILLY SUBURBS
The keyboard I'm writing about is the red switches model, this is the linear model. And I love the sound of the key clicks as I type. Maybe it's a throw back thing, maybe it's the feeling that I am accomplishing something as I type. Maybe it is just a comfort thing. But I love the sound that you get from this. Just like some of the original IBM PC/XT or PC/AT keyboards. Back when keyboards cost hundreds of dollars. And they didn't even have a backlight.
Fast forward to this, and Logitech again comes up with a home run. This thing is cool in many different ways. The aluminum plate design, looks cool but is functional too to protect the keyboard from impacts. The lights on the keyboard help you to see what you are typing but also provide you with some different patterns. There are 5 of them - most notably on steady, a run through all of the keys one key at a time, and the breathing mode. All are cool and something will strike your fancy. My favorite is just on all the time.
This is a comfortable keyboard to type on and I took time to write a long paper using this, before I came up with this comment. By the time I'm done with a paper of this length, my MacBook makes me want to use a real keyboard. This keyboard didn't make my hands and fingers hurt. Funny thing, I used this on my MacBook and it worked great! You have to know the Mac shortcuts as this is designed for Windows, it worked fine on my MacBook.
What I like about this most of all is that it is a full sized keyboard, with a numeric keypad attached, yet it is somewhat compact. Certainly not the size of those old keyboards and that is a good thing!
You'll love this I'm sure, it is a satisfying experience to type on it, it looks great, has excellent backlighting, and frankly it is a Logitech, so it will last. They say the keys were tested for 50 million keystrokes, and I believe it, but I just know Logitech stuff never lets me down.

I'm an XM radio junkie and I don't like this one
on September 23, 2020
Posted by: stevefromtheburbs
from PHILLY SUBURBS
I am a current XM radio subscriber and have been for as many years as Sirius and XM have been around. It's been over 20 years now and in the early days I had both, then when they merged, I continued on with the XM radio line, and here we are today. A new radio launch is long overdue and one with the features this has are very much appreciated. One feature missing is the ability to record songs you hear, and that missing feature is something that is a deal breaker for me. Why? You pay a royalty fee for your service, which means the artists that play get paid. If I cannot record favorite songs, knowing they get paid, I'm not interested in this radio.
Yes you can listen to recorded shows that have occurred, or even the online only shows, through WIFI or your phone's hotspot. I like this. But not being able to record a library of music to play what I want to hear when offline, means I'll stick with my old radios that allow this to happen.
As for the radio unit itself, I wanted to like it so much. I'm from the camp that says a device used in a car should be used for what it was designed to do. Like a radio. A radio is a device for listening to music in the car. A GPS is for directions in the car. This radio was going to be used in my wife's Mercedes GLA-250 with the high end audio/NAV/etc. system. Using a phone for these things is not my idea of technology at it's best. Set the radio. Get the GPS started. And plug in the phone, for phone calls. That is how I do a trip. So I had high hopes for this new radio.
Once you remove the film from the screen, the touchscreen is buggy and not very sensitive to touch. It is more of a distraction than anything
else and having to press and view what you pressed actually worked, and then double check to be sure it worked, is a serious disappointment. I found the taps were different at different screens for different things. When driving, looking down or over to a radio that has a temperamental screen, at certain times and things, that is too much for me to deal with while driving.
In addition to this frustration, I was unable to get this to play audio through bluetooth in the Mercedes. That might sound a bit odd, given the elaborate system in the Mercedes, however, it is true it doesn't work. I wanted to use it in her car because the Sat radio in the Mercedes, sounds like junk. I don't know if you noticed this on your car Sat radio or not, but some cars have Sat radios that sound horrible. The Mercedes is one of them. So this would have sounded much better, true. But not if I could not connect via bluetooth because I'm not playing it through the FM radio modulator that this does have for older cars, and I'm not running an aux radio cable either, I'm trying to hide wires and not add more to the mix. Not sure why it would not PLAY via bluetooth but it did connect. I went though everything and no luck. No help from Mercedes Tech support. And XM tech support was not available either. However, I do know, if it connects and doesn't play, no tech is going to help me get through it if I cannot figure it out.
Even more interesting, is that the CHECK FOR FIRMWARE UPDATES feature would not work, despite being successfully connected to WIFI. That seems odd, right? So, I tried again and again, with no luck.
So, unfortunately I'm not going to recommend this radio unless you are the kind that sets the channel and never changes it while driving. I tried the voice feature, and that was just hanging up with no feedback except it timed out.
Also note, the radio randomly rebooted multiple times. So I never even got the point I could activate this radio and could not use it to sign into my multiple online accounts without doing an activation. That doesn't seem fair, however, if I want to do that I can and will just sign in on the app on my phone and use their app to listen to the online only channels, my phone does connect and play through bluetooth. This goes against what I said earlier, which is why I'm so disappointed.

Not only does it give you a sense of security, it also gives my parents a peace of mind known that they are not alone and are being watched, unfortunately my father has fallen twice in the time I bought this camera, it allowed me to see him on the floor and I was able to race home to help him up, if it wasn't for the camera who knows how long he would have been laying there. The picture is not perfect but more than good enough, I actually leave it in Night Vision mode and the picture is great, also the microphone is impressively good. You are able to rotate the camera via your smart phone or computer, it's a little slow but over all I have no complaints. Well worth the money, I went out and bought 2 more for the rest of the house, the smart phone app is very easy to use, set up was a little bit of a pain, I'd say 1 hour but again, not bad. Honestly the best thing I have bought in years and I buy a lot.

This is the exact same comment as for another D-link camera. So, which is it really for?

What if a vacuum was so advanced it could sense the type of floor it’s cleaning? BISSELL SurfaceSense Pet vacuum can! Its intelligent SurfaceSense Technology can detect floor types and automatically adjust the brush roll speed to give you optimal cleaning performance on any floor type. It’s also our first vacuum with a Tangle-Free, Multi-Surface Brush Roll which has stiff bristles for cleaning carpet and soft bristles for vacuuming hard floors, so it can pick up everything from fine dust to larger debris across all floor types. SurfaceSense Pet vacuum has a One Touch, Easy Empty dirt tank and a SmartSeal Allergen System that traps fine dust and allergens while you clean. The LED headlights illuminate hidden dirt and debris while the Quick Release Extension Wand and above floor tools work together to clean hard-to-reach spaces, like upholstery and stairs. And this vacuum doesn’t just clean up after pets, it helps save them, too! BISSELL proudly supports BISSELL Pet Foundation and its mission to help save homeless pets. When you buy a BISSELL product, you help save pets. We’re proud to design products that help make pet messes, odors and pet homelessness disappear.

Is this a self-propelled vacuum? Is there a Bissell that is?

Not self propelled but is easy to maneuver because it has such a strong beater bar that kind of pulls it along. Bissell does not make a self propelled model that I am aware of.

How many filters does this have. Are they washable

This has a single cylindrical filter that is not washable. You can however, vacuum the exterior of the filter, to increase longevity of the filter.

Can you disable audio recording for these?

You can turn that feature off, but can also turn on the privacy shield to turn off video and audio by using an actual physical filter. Or you can simply turn off the mic function and nothing will be recorded. You can keep the speaker function, in case you want to say something, but turn off the mic function so your conversations won't be overheard.

Protect your home while away without comprising your privacy when at home. Arlo Essential Indoor Camera captures 1080p video and offers a way to reassure your privacy with an automated privacy shield, controllable through the Arlo App. Receive motion alerts directly to your phone and use 2-way audio to hear and speak to visitors. See at night, with black and white night vision. Connect directly to Wi-Fi for easy setup. Get notifications on your smartphone when your camera spots people or animals, and view recorded video clips directly from your phone, with a trial of included Arlo Secure¹.

How do I look up past recordings on the camera

In the app, you can go to the recorded library of images. If you don't have any, I'd ask if you set up any of the rules to get this to record. If not, you have to set up the things ou want to do and when, to get it to record. This is somewhat easier said than done, but it is better than it used to be. Contact tech support for help if needed.

On the Arlo Essential, can the IR be turned off? I’d like to position it behind glass.

Yes, you simply turn off the "night vision" option in video settings. See the pic below that shows the option and where it is.

In the app, you simply do "add camera" and go through the instructions. Easy peasy. Takes about 30 seconds to add.

This LG CordZero vacuum has everything you want, from Kompressor technology that lets you clean more and empty less, to two rechargeable batteries that deliver up to 120 minutes¹ of uninterrupted cleaning. But why stop there? The Power Mop attachment gives hard floors a perfect finish—without messy buckets or harmful chemicals. Simply fill the reservoir with water, snap on the attachment and go.

Is the charger compatible with 220 V?

It comes with a 110 plug only with no adapters or anything included to make it 220.

Can this vacuum be used on concrete floors?

I'm sure it can be, it can be used on any hard or carpeted surface. It has a unique roller bar that is neither too hard or too soft, and should work just fine.

Would the mop attachment work on the previous CordZero model?

I'm confident they are interchangeable. As long as the connector looks the same, it'll work with it.

Can i use old a9 by attached A9 wet mop unit

I'm sure you can, as long as it is the same connection. The mop unit just swirls the cloth pads around and drips water out so it can be a kind of wet dust mop. It uses the power from the wand to do it. But it does not vacuum up anything, when in this mode.
