Good film, still holds up over the years

I have always enjoyed this film.
My buying this DVD is the 1st time I have seen the film in years.
The film still holds up 20 years after i'’s release.
Carrie did NOT get enough credit for her role. I thought her performance of Marie was perfect.
I have NEVER been a fan of Ryan's. Never will be. Her romantic comedy career was with this film & the famous deli scene.
Now famous director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, Addams Family) was director of photography.
DVD has good extras. Deleted scenes, glad there are some too look at even though they are brief.
One scene error. The 1 New Year's Eve when Harry & Sally go to the party, they go outside. DID THAT LOOK LIKE NEW YORK ON NEW YEAR'S EVE? I have never been to New York BUT I KNOW IT IS VERY COLD, SO WHY WASN’T ANY OF THE CAST DRESSED FOR BEING OUTSIDE CELEBRATING?
What's not so great: Ryan, ENOUGH SAID

Shelly Long stars in this comedy as a spoiled Beverly Hills wife who decides--wanting to prove her husband's accusation of her selfishness wrong--to become the leader of her daughter's wilderness group. Though taking them on outings at the mall rather than in the woods, she later must prove her worth as a legitimate troop leader. After some zany incidents, all parties learn lessons of teamwork and selflessness.

Cute little film BUT WHERE IS THE WIDE SCREEN?
on February 6, 2009

I have always enjoyed this film.
Not a box office hit when released.
So, you know there are NO EXTRAS on this DVD. I did NOT expect any.
My complaint about this DVD-no choice to see the film wide screen!!
Well, MOST OF THE FILM.
I have NEVER understood this but they show the opening credits & a few seconds of the film widescreen but then go to full screen.
Why? Makes no sense.
Film makers learn by your mistakes. If you had the choice of wide screen/full screen for the film it may encourage people who have never seen it to view it & maybe buy the DVD on their own.
And, you see the cameos of several celebrities which is note worthy.
What's not so great: NO WIDE SCREEN

It was all a dream-& they lost viewers

I remember when this happened.
As a Dallas fan most likely you were NOT happy learning season 9 was a waste.
Ok, so when we learn this more mistakes were made like keeping the horrible Jenna (Priscilla Presley badly playing the character) in this season. And, I ALWAYS hated the Charlie her daughter characters.
Jack & Jaime were not needed.
They went into all different areas in this season. It was obvious Dallas had seen it's better days . This was where a fan like me started to lose interest.
The DVD package. Horrible to even open. Discs badly secured inside.
No extras with this season
And, WHAT BAD PICTURE QUALITY. DULL, NO COLOR IN IT. Looks like it was filmed in the 1970's nor the 1980's.
What's not so great: HORRIBLE PICTURE QUALITY & beginning of the end of the show

A Guilty Pleasure
on January 29, 2009

This will surprise anyone who reads this. I am NOT a huge Kiss fan. I own NO Kiss merchandise other than 1 CD. That’s it. I like a few of their songs.
I got into watching the series & I enjoy it.
A lot of this you KNOW is just set up for TV.
I like the kids Nick & Sophie. You wish other celebrity kids were like them. Gene & Shannon a job well done with them.
The show is a guilty pleasure. Gene having to put Kiss on every piece of merchandise he can think of. Money, money, money.
Good extras on the DVD package. I just got the 2cd season & there are none there so they put everything on here. That part is bad.
So, if you are NOT a Kiss fan you can enjoy the show. May turn you into 1, you never know.
What's great about it: Good extras

One of Tom Hanks' early starring vehicles, The Man With One Red Shoe, arrives on DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, and is preferable to the standard full-frame image. An English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. English, French, and Spanish soundtracks have also been recorded in Dolby Digital Mono. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence. This is a skeletal release from 20th Century Fox, and probably more than this film deserves.

A decent comedy

I have always liked this film.
I saw it in the theater in 1985.
Not perfect, did NOT do well at the box office. A forgotten film now a days.
Tom got top billing after "Splash".
First time Carrie & Tom worked together.
There are 3 scenes in the film I have always enjoyed & will watch more than once.
No extras on the DVD, of course, since the film was not a box office or critical success.
Some scenes where stunt people were used that OBVIOUSLY you can tell it was NOT the actor in question. Carrie (Paula) going out the window of Tom (Richard's) apartment.
Good to have the option to watch it widescreen.
What's not so great: No extras-but this is not a surprise

Still a good film BUT POOR EXTRAS ON DVD

I am not a horror film fan. Would never watch most of them.
But, I have always liked this film. Still do.
Holds up over the test of time, except for SOME of the effects. Some are still very good but some look cheap now a days.
Cast does a good job with their roles.
Still, however, do NOT like the parents smoking drugs with their 3 kids in the house.
I am VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE DVD. Where are the extras?
No interviews with the remaining cast, no deleted scenes, story on film or effects , etc. Just a lame thing on poltergeists. Will NOT even waste my time watching that.
This is supposed to be an anniversary release for the film. THEY APPARENTLY DID A RUSH JOB & DID NOT CARE TO GIVE FANS ANYTHING EXCEPT THE FILM TO LOOK AT.
AGAIN, AS I SAID ABOVE, THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING.
This makes me rate the DVD a 4 not a 5.
What's not so great: WHAT EXTRAS?

Carrie Fisher's best-selling novel (inspired by her own life and career) was brought to the screen in this comedy drama, which gets a well-rounded presentation on DVD. Postcards From the Edge has two transfers for this double-sided release, a letterboxed version in the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 (which is also enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors), and a pan-and-scan transfer in the full-screen ratio of 1.33:1. The original English-language soundtrack has been mastered in Dolby Digital Surround, while optional dubbed tracks in Spanish, French and Portuguese appear in Dolby Digital Stereo. This disc also includes optional subtitles in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, and Thai. Among the bonus materials are an audio commentary from Carrie Fisher, notes on the film's production, biographies of the cast and crew, and the original theatrical trailer.

Good film & still holds up

If you never read Carrie's 1987 book with the same name then you would not be spoiled by the film.
The book was good & so is the film.
A lot of names in the cast. Meryl & Shirley are great as Suzanne & Doris. Several of the cast are friends of Carrie's.
COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT QUAID. I am NOT a fan of his.
Of course this is an older DVD. I would have thought they would have released it December 2008 when Carrie's book "Wishful Drinking" was released.
Good to have the option of widescreen or not.
I am HOWEVER, DISAPPOINTED IN THE EXTRAS. Only 1 of note is Carrie's commentary. No deleted scenes or mistakes.
Ha ha Bonus trailers YOU GET TO SEE TRAILER FOR OTHER FILM NOT INTERESTED
Talent files on some of the cast-WAS NOT COMPLETE OR CURRENT.
As I said, extras were a disappointment.
But, you will not be disappointed in the film.
What's great about it: Most of cast
What's not so great: EXTRAS? COULD USE MORE

Even better than the 1st season
on January 4, 2009

Since I enjoyed the 1st season of the show I watched every episode of season 2.
I think for TV it was better than the 1st season.
The fights made the season.
My favorite changed. At the beginning of the season my favorite was Ezra (Buddha) but that changed at the end to David (Punk). As I write this he is now with Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.
George (Tailor Made) no way!! Money & does what ever it takes to get what he wants. But OF COURSE, if you watched it, he was kicked to the curb in "New York Goes to Hollywood".
Ok, extras on the DVD package. Glad the reunion special was here. I keep in mind Flavor of Love season 2 where the DID NOT include the reunion.
If you enjoyed any season of Flavor of Love & or the 1st season of New York you should enjoy this season & the DVD package.
MOSTLY UNCUT. Not totally uncut. That, like the season 1 package is a disappointment.
And, before it airs, I Love Money 2 will have Ezra & George. BUT WHY GEORGE WHEN HE IS MADE OF MONEY & HAS NOTHING ELSE TO OFFER ANY WOMAN?

WHERE IS THE REUNION SPECIAL? Uncut….PARTIALLY

I was looking forward to getting this season. BUT
Claims to be UNCUT. ONLY PARTIALLY UNCUT. SOME language is uncut, some IS STILL CUT as aired on VH1 Other things uncut
Although I enjoyed the season I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE REUNION SPECIAL WAS NOT INCLUDED.
WHAT HAPPENED VH1?
This is a BIG let down for me.
A lot of other extras but NO REUNION SPECIAL
What's not so great: NO REUNION SPECIAL

The mother of all comedies, Airplane! finally comes home to DVD in this elaborate Don't Call Me Shirley! 25th Anniversary Edition. The film is once again presented with an anamorphic 1.85:1 widescreen picture and 5.1 sound, though the real meat of the disc comes in the form of a slew of new extras. A commentary track is now included, with Jerry and David Zucker heading down memory lane with co-writer Jim Abrahams and producer John Davison. Anyone familiar with the Kentucky Fried Movie commentary will be pleased to know that this track is equally as funny, though the comedic team's fuel runs a bit dry by the end. In other features, the disc is supplied with a "Long Haul Version" that includes deleted scenes and interviews via a branching system. While it would have been nice to access them separately, there is something satisfying in seeing some of these trimmed pieces added back into the film, even if it means endlessly searching for the TransAmerican logo to appear on the screen anytime you'd like to rewatch any of these extras. Also available are the original theatrical trailer and a trivia track, which basically rehashes most of the information given in the previous two extras. The Don't Call Me Shirley! Edition is a worthy upgrade for those with the 2000 release and a great addition to any home library that's lacking the title.

A classic comedy, still funny today

Who does not love this film?
A comedy classic.
Cast perfect in their roles.
Well written of course with the memorable catch phrases.
DVD package. Normal extras on it. Deleted scenes, commentary, trailer, that type of thing
BUT IT IS ONE OF THE I HATE THEM SO MUCH FLIP THE LITTLE FLAPS TO OPEN THE CASE.
The film that got Leslie Neilson's career into high gear in comedy’s. there would have been no Naked Gun series of films without this film.
What's great about it: Holds up over the years
What's not so great: Normal extras BUT HORRIBLE FLIP OPEN CASE

The Kardashian sisters feel the impact of celebrity in this season, when Khloé must deal with the very public aftermath of her DUI, while Kim and Kourtney contend with sibling rivalry as their professional and personal relationships blur.

Guilty pleasure, MUCH IMPROVED OVER SEASON 2
By CKCSWHFFAN from home
Yes, the show is a guilty pleasure.
Episodes that aired in 2009. 12 episodes this season
Now, THE IMPROVEMENTS. 1. The episodes are wide screen, 2. Disc 1 has deleted scenes & 3. Disc 2 has commentary for episodes. Why not with each episode-no clue about that. But it is MUCH better than the blog from Rob on season 2.
Now, this time out apparently there are ONLY 3 Kardashians in this season. Kourtney, Kim & Khloe are only shown on both sides of the DVD case. BOTH discs have the same photo of them. So, they do NOT give credit to Kris, Bruce, Rob, Kendall & Kylie? Show is called Keeping Up With The Kardashians NOT Keeping Up With The Kardashian Sisters.
1 big mistake done again on this DVD. Same CHEAP, PLASTIC DVD CASE WITH THE INTENTIONAL HOLES IN IT. CHEAP & NOT SAFE. Apparently the DVD makers just want people to buy this over & over again since the DVD are NOT safely secure.
And, a point for anyone. There was MASS CONFUSION ABOUT THE RELEASE DATE OF THIS DVD. It was released 8-17-10. Some stores & websites changed the date until 9-21-10. THIS WAS UNTRUE. I purchased the DVD from a local store 8-18-10. So, make sure IF you want it check with the store. DO NOT GO BY PRINTED MATERIAL
