Classic Disney animation meets contemporary urban chaos when a frightened princess is banished from her magical animated homeland to modern-day New York City in a romantic comedy penned by Bill Kelly (Blast from the Past), directed by Kevin Lima (Tarzan), and featuring music by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) lives in the blissful cartoon world of Andalasia, where magical beings frolic freely and musical interludes punctuate every interaction. Though Princess Giselle is currently engaged to be married to the handsome Prince Edward (James Marsden), her fate takes a turn for the worse when the villainous Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) banishes her to the unforgiving metropolis of New York City. As the cruelty of the big city soon begins to wear down the fairy-tale exterior of the once-carefree princess, the frightened Giselle soon finds herself falling for a friendly but flawed divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) whose kind compassion helps her to survive in this strange and dangerous new world.

Good Disney film

I waited until I saw the film on pay cable before I bought it.
I wanted to make sure I liked it before I purchased it.
It is a good Disney film. Putting the live action flip into a tried & true fairy tale Disney formula with the young woman to be rescued from the prince & living happily ever after.
I was glad Susan got the part of the Queen. She did a good job. BUT, HER ROLE WAS TOO SMALL. We done see her until the end of the film & before that just her voice in a few scenes. I would have loved to have seen her take off with the role.
Let’s see. Dempsey got the role because of his hit ABC show. I found his role & performance boring. Went no where.
The film SHOULD have won Oscars for the music. Shame it did not with Oscar winner Alan Menken at work again. Sure beats that “you’ve heard it once you’ve ever one of Randy Newman’s music for the Disney/Pixar films.
Amy Adams did an OK job as Giselle. Just, her performance was just missing 1 little spark in my opinion.
Beautiful to look at. The animation parts are normal Disney the best you can get.
Kids will like it, if you are an adult & a Disney fan you will too.
What's great about it: Susan’s performance
What's not so great: Susan NOT in it long & Dempsey’s boring

A fun film

I enjoy this film.
Glad to have it widescreen.
Stiller doing the SAME ROLE UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME like in Mary & both the Meet The Films. Put upon, getting even his way role. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT STILLER!! BORING!!
I did NOT like the film for him.
Robin was very good in his role as teddy Roosevelt. Needed MUCH MORE OF HIM.
Glad to see Dick Van Dick & Mickey Rooney.
I HATED Ricky Gervais CHARACTER. And, this is the only thing I have ever seen him in.
Now, I expected MUCH MORE from this special edition package.
No real Making of special. Stiller & Dick were spoken to in 1 piece. WHERE THE HECK WAS ROBIN OR MICKEY ROONEY?
Good but should have been great package. If you are a stiller fan you will like it. A fan of Robin’s like myself you will be disappointed in the extras.
Good job, do better next time film makers with the DVD package.
What's great about it: Robin & Dick
What's not so great: Stiller doing his same bit

The hit comedy The Princess Diaries gets the royal treatment in this special two-disc DVD release. The Princess Diaries appears in two transfers, a widescreen version letterboxed in the aspect ratio of 1.85:1 (and enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors), and a full-screen transfer pan-and-scanned to the 1.33:1 ratio. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital 5.1, and viewers may choose between the original English-language audio and a dubbed track in French. Optional subtitles in English, French, and Spanish are also included. The disc which features the letterboxed transfer of the film also includes two alternate commentary tracks, one featuring leading ladies Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway, and the other with director Garry Marshall. Other bonus materials on the widescreen disc include a collection of trailers for other Walt Disney Home Entertainment releases, a look at the making of the movie, a preview of the sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement , outtakes and bloopers, and more. The full-screen disc includes a different set of extras, including eight deleted scenes (with introduction from director Marshall), and music videos for the songs "Supergirl" by Krystal Harris and "Miracles Happen" by Myra.

Enjoyable film

I enjoy both of the films.
Enjoyable but not perfect films. The reason I saw both in the first place was to watch Julie's performance.
She is perfect in her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi.
Hector Elizondo was also god in his Joseph/Joe role in both films.
I hated Larry Miller"s character. It was SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY. I found it hurtful & rude.
This special edition is good. You have both the wide screen & full screen viewing options.
Extras good. Outtakes, deleted scenes good.
The "A New Princess" on disc 2, the "making of" special was good as well BUT MISSING 1 THING. WHERE THE HECK WAS HECTOR ELIZONDO? A staple in Garry's films, why was he not spoken to? That I thought was disappointing not to have that.
What's great about it: Julie’s performance
What's not so great: Larry Miller’s character

In this comedy from Austin Powers director Jay Roach, Ben Stiller plays a young man who endures a disastrous weekend at the home of his girlfriend's parents. Greg Focker (Stiller) is completely in love with Pam Byrnes (Teri Polo), and views their upcoming trip to her parents' house on Long Island (where her sister is to be married during the weekend) as a perfect opportunity to ask her to marry him. Once Greg is introduced to Pam's parents, however, things stampede steadily downhill. Pam's father, Jack (Robert De Niro), takes an instant and obvious dislike to his daughter's boyfriend, lambasting him for his job as a nurse and generally making Greg painfully aware of the differences between him and Pam's family. Where Greg is grubby, relatively unambitious, and Jewish, Pam comes from a long line of well-mannered, blue-blooded WASPs. Things go from bad to worse in less time than it takes to spin a dreidel, with Greg incurring the wrath of both Pam's father -- who, it turns out, worked for the CIA for 34 years -- and the rest of her family, and almost single-handedly destroying their house and the wedding in the process.

Decent film

I enjoy this film & it’s follow up "Meet the Fockers". Certainly NOT the best film ever made-far from it. Enjoyable.
I am NOT a fan of Ben Stiller's. This is 1 of the 4 films I like where he is in a starring role. The other 2 "Night at the Museum" & "There’s Something About Mary" HE BASICALLY PLAYED THE SAME ROLE IN ALL 3 FILMS. A nobody reacting to things going on around him & overreacting.
I actually like the follow up film more than the original. Another negative of the original: Owen Wilson
Only got to see him briefly in the 2cd film.
Randy Newman’s same old music-we’ve heard in films over the years & they all sound the same.
Good NOT GREAT extras on the DVD package.
Hard to feel for Stiller’s character in either film when his character lies all the time.
The speeding to get back to Jack's (DeNiro's) house because of the Jinx’ the cat lost bit. WHERE WAS THE NEEDED REACTION FROM THE OTHER CHARACTERS ABOUT GREG SPEEDING & BEING UNSAFE?
What's great about it: Good NOT GREAT EXTRAS
What's not so great: Ben Stiller & Could have been better

Directed by Garry Marshall, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement picks up where its predecessor left off -- that is, with American teenager Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) reeling over the news that she is a princess within the royal family of Genovia, a little-known European nation with a population of barely 50,000. As promised, Mia, along with her best friend, Lily (Heather Matarazzo), travels to Genovia after their high-school graduation. The unlikely princess has hardly settled into the castle, let alone begun representing the country, when she learns that a larger title is approaching more rapidly than expected; it seems as though Mia will have to take over as queen. Suddenly, in addition to further schooling on the etiquette of royalty, Mia finds herself with a daunting prospect -- according to Genovian law, all princesses must be married before they can be crowned. In addition to Julie Andrews' reprisal of her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi, The Princess Diaries 2 also features Hector Elizondo and John Rhys-Davies in supporting roles. Though Princess Diaries author Meg Cabot did pen a sequel (The Princess Diaries: Princess in the Spotlight), this film is not an adaptation.

Cute but flawed film

I enjoy both of the films.
I 1st watched them simply to see Julie's performance.
The film is cute but flawed, NOT near perfect. Some scenes work, others drive you crazy on how cheesy they are.
After the surgery that hurt Julie' ability to sing the chance to see her sing in the film DISNEY HAD TO RUIN TO ADD THAT RAVEN GIRL IN THE SONG JUST BECAUSE SHE HAD A SHOW ON THE DISNEY CHANNEL AT THE TIME. JULIE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A SONG SHE COULD DO ON HER OWN. Do we need to point out Julie's Disney history? Her 1st film "Mary Poppins" won her the Oscar. The soundtrack won an Oscar & Julie sang several memorable songs. Did Disney forget this?
I did NOT like Larry Miller's character in either film
Hector Elizondo was good as Joe in both films
Good, not outstanding, extras on the DVD.
Songs in the film did NOTHING for me.
What's great about it: Julie’s performance
What's not so great: Larry Miller's character

I love this film!! My favorite Mel Brooks film. Saw it 3 times in the theater in 1987.
So many quotable lines & scenes you have to watch more than once.
A LOT of good extras in the DVD package.
Spaceballs the Documentary Where MOST of the cast was spoken to. OK people, where was Rick Moranis? Would have like to have seen him in this.
Disappointed that there was no literature with the package & no chapter search list.
“They’ve gone to plaid.”

What's not so great: What happened to Rick Moranis?

I was a kid when the film was released.
Seeing it years later I think it is a great film.
Course I was too young so I did not see the impact of the film then.
Good, not great DVD package here.
Old interview with Dustin. Why was there not current interviews with the cast & crew still alive?
Package CLAIMED there was a collectible booklet. Where?
Would have liked to have read it.

I remember the famous scene, watching it original aired.
Man, A LOT of people were upset!!
Glad to get Bobby back but a wasted year.
One of my favorite shows going into the lesser seasons.
Something missing AGAIN with this DVD set.
NO CAST COMMENTARY. Most of the cast get long real well & are always happy to talk about the show.
Get a commentary from them.
The real Miss Ellie is back (Barbara Bel Geddes) which was definitely needed.

The Kardashian sisters feel the impact of celebrity in this season, when Khloé must deal with the very public aftermath of her DUI, while Kim and Kourtney contend with sibling rivalry as their professional and personal relationships blur.

Guilty pleasure, MUCH IMPROVED OVER SEASON 2
By CKCSWHFFAN from home
Yes, the show is a guilty pleasure.
Episodes that aired in 2009. 12 episodes this season
Now, THE IMPROVEMENTS. 1. The episodes are wide screen, 2. Disc 1 has deleted scenes & 3. Disc 2 has commentary for episodes. Why not with each episode-no clue about that. But it is MUCH better than the blog from Rob on season 2.
Now, this time out apparently there are ONLY 3 Kardashians in this season. Kourtney, Kim & Khloe are only shown on both sides of the DVD case. BOTH discs have the same photo of them. So, they do NOT give credit to Kris, Bruce, Rob, Kendall & Kylie? Show is called Keeping Up With The Kardashians NOT Keeping Up With The Kardashian Sisters.
1 big mistake done again on this DVD. Same CHEAP, PLASTIC DVD CASE WITH THE INTENTIONAL HOLES IN IT. CHEAP & NOT SAFE. Apparently the DVD makers just want people to buy this over & over again since the DVD are NOT safely secure.
And, a point for anyone. There was MASS CONFUSION ABOUT THE RELEASE DATE OF THIS DVD. It was released 8-17-10. Some stores & websites changed the date until 9-21-10. THIS WAS UNTRUE. I purchased the DVD from a local store 8-18-10. So, make sure IF you want it check with the store. DO NOT GO BY PRINTED MATERIAL
