Marking the directorial debut of Adam McKay, former head writer for Saturday Night Live and founder of the Upright Citizen's Brigade, Anchorman is set during the 1970s and stars Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy, San Diego's top-rated news anchorman. While Burgundy is outwardly willing to adjust to the idea of females in the workplace -- even outside of secretarial positions -- he certainly doesn't want his own job challenged. Keeping that in mind, it's no wonder that the arrival of Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), an aspiring newswoman, is, in Ron's eyes, not the studio's most welcome addition. After Veronica pays her dues covering so-called female-oriented fluff pieces (think cat fashion shows and cooking segments), the ambitious Veronica sets her eyes on the news desk; more specifically, on Ron's seat behind it. Not unpredictably, Ron doesn't take the threat lightly, and it isn't long before the rival newscasters are engaged in a very personal battle of the sexes. Anchorman was co-written by Ferrell, and features supporting performances from David Koechner, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, Tara Subkoff, and Maya Rudolph.

I had caught this film on pay cable when it came on in 2005.
Surprised me I liked it.
At the time of release, it was original idea for a film I thought.
It is the ONLY Will Ferrell film I like where he is the lead character.
Now of course EVERY ear he does a similar film like all the sports films basketball, NASCAR & ice skating where this good Anchorman idea keeps being repeated.
The cast were perfect in their roles. Did NOT need Luke Wilson though. Unnecessary. And, I do NOT like the Wilson brothers.
Now, the DVD package it's.
I expected more since it is a "Unrated, Uncut, & Uncalled For!". 1. Has those HORRIBLE little flaps tat are a pain & terrible to have to open up. 2. NO chapter search list or any information on the film inside.
Good soundtrack for the film
What's great about it: ONLY Will Ferrell movie I like

I have always enjoyed this film being a Disney fan.
Good though NOT great.
Being an anniversary edition release on DVD (or the 2cd release of it on DVD) that package however is nothing special.
Only a 1 disc package. NOT a lot of extras. No making of special or anything. Only extra of interest to me is a segment on the Oscar winning Sherman Brothers.
True, this film was not a big box office hit for the studio so you can understand why no real special package here in my opinion.
BUT, the studio did market it for the 45th anniversary so you would think there would have been something more special about this DVD release.
What's great about it: Good, not great Disney film
What's not so great: NOTHING special about the DVD package

I got into watching the show in repeats several years ago. It was a good show, BUT not great. Cast was good, although I did NOT like the twins nor Dave’s characters Joey Gladstone. TOO MUCH REPEATS IN EPISODES OF THE SAME CARTOON VOICES.
Let’s go for several points, errors, made in the show: 1. Having actors play different characters in multiple episodes 2. Repeating story lines-OK how many times did adult characters miss some event for 1 of the girls because their car broke down some place? 3. Storylines taken from other TV shows. Being a Partridge Family fan I saw they take from this show. 4. How many mothers did we have for Jesse, Danny & Joey? 5. 1st season ALL the guys were typical guys & messy. EVEN DANNY where in the later seasons he was the neat freak. 6. The famous change to Jesse’s last name.
Now, as for the DVD package. I like extras. THERE ARE BASICALLY NONE. Where are cast interviews or commentary? Would have liked to have that with this package.

I have always enjoyed this film. Being a Disney fan it is hard not to. But, it is NOT among their best in my opinion. Remember, the 1st complete animated release after Walt’s passing in December 1966. He had worked on the MUCH better The Jungle Book.
When I saw there was going to be this special edition I normally really love Disney’s special edition or Platinum DVD releases.
Man, what a disappointment. For the price.
Only a 1 disc package. WHERE IS THE 2CD DISC WITH SOME GOOD EXTRAS?
There is no ’Making of” or “Behind the Scenes” on the film. I normally really enjoy watching these.
Good to have the film in wide screen.
About ½ of the “extras” on this 1 DISC DVD PACKAGE, AGAIN SAYING SPECIAL EDITION, were just fun activities for kids. How about the adults? ONLY kids want Disney films on DVD?
Let’s hope Disney does a better job the next time they release this film on DVD.

Like most of Michael Mann's films, The Insider is an extremely stylish character study, and the excellent 2.35:1 widescreen presentation of the movie on this DVD allows it to make maximum emotional impact. It's hard to say which is better: the excellent, moody Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio or the colorful, beautiful way the visuals have translated to DVD. The music of Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke is quite magical up against the pretty visuals, whether the score is indulging in evocative, bombastic form or simply flowing in ambient layers. Supplemental features include a short, glossy production featurette, the widescreen theatrical trailer, and a feature called "Inside a Scene," which dissects one scene from the movie, allowing a viewer to look at pre-production, shooting, and finished material. A director's commentary with Mann would have been fascinating but is nowhere to be found. Still, the movie stands on its own merits. The Insider is full of subtle power in this DVD edition.

This film was one of the first on DVD I ever bought.
GREAT film. Should have won the Oscar for Best Picture instead of nudie American Beauty.
And, FOR SURE Russell should have won the Best Actor Oscar.
Film is over long. How many scenes did we need to see Al's character yelling at people? TOO much of that.
Bruce McGill (D Day from Animal House) is in it shortly. Of course he worked with Russell again in a bigger part in Cinderella Man. He has turned into a good character actor.
A notable for TV fans. Gary Sandy (Andy in WKRP) is in 2 scenes & has a couple of lines. ONLY thing I remember seeing him do after the show ended.
Do need an update DVD release for the film with some extras
The Kardashian sisters feel the impact of celebrity in this season, when Khlo~ must deal with the very public aftermath of her DUI, while Kim and Kourtney contend with sibling rivalry as their professional and personal relationships blur.
Overall4 out of 5
Guilty pleasure, MUCH IMPROVED OVER SEASON 2
ByCKCSWHFFANfromhome
Yes, the show is a guilty pleasure.
Episodes that aired in 2009. 12 episodes this season
Now, THE IMPROVEMENTS. 1. The episodes are wide screen, 2. Disc 1 has deleted scenes & 3. Disc 2 has commentary for episodes. Why not with each episode-no clue about that. But it is MUCH better than the blog from Rob on season 2.
Now, this time out apparently there are ONLY 3 Kardashians in this season. Kourtney, Kim & Khloe are only shown on both sides of the DVD case. BOTH discs have the same photo of them. So, they do NOT give credit to Kris, Bruce, Rob, Kendall & Kylie? Show is called Keeping Up With The Kardashians NOT Keeping Up With The Kardashian Sisters.
1 big mistake done again on this DVD. Same CHEAP, PLASTIC DVD CASE WITH THE INTENTIONAL HOLES IN IT. CHEAP & NOT SAFE. Apparently the DVD makers just want people to buy this over & over again since the DVD are NOT safely secure.
And, a point for anyone. There was MASS CONFUSION ABOUT THE RELEASE DATE OF THIS DVD. It was released 8-17-10. Some stores & websites changed the date until 9-21-10. THIS WAS UNTRUE. I purchased the DVD from a local store 8-18-10. So, make sure IF you want it check with the store. DO NOT GO BY PRINTED MATERIAL
