Least favorite of the four films
on December 11, 2010
Posted by: CKCSWHFFAN

Not hard to remember 2001 when the original "Shrek" came out. It beat my favorite Disney/Pixar film "Monsters Inc" for the 1st Best Animated Film Oscar.
An original idea and funny. The 1cd film was very good, not quite as good as the original.
The 3rd film was NOT anywhere near as good as the first two films. The Arthur character & how it was written.
So, we get to this film. Supposed to be the last "Shrek" film That will remain to be seen.
NOT an original idea seeing what would happen if. That has surely been done before, so the character see how good they have it after complaining about it.
I say this for positive, I thought the film would be worse. Just the laughs are far between. . Notice the Arthur character they brought in for the 3rd film is NOT EVEN TALKED ABOUT HERE. Took a while to get to any good Donkey or Puss scenes.
The funny side characters from the first three films were barely used. Minor Pinocchio, Dragon, Gingy, etc.
OK, THEY STOLE THE END OF BEAUTY & THE BEAST. Spoiler, the kiss.
A few extras on here. DVD DESIGNED YOU ARE FORCED TO WATCH PREVIEWS INSIDE OF GOING TO THE MENU.
A few extras.
NO chapter search list & a major complaint that you see more & more of. Has one of these cheap, INTENTIONAL HOLES IN THE DVD PLASTIC CASE. I HATE these things. Terrible, cheap & your DVD can get damaged.
Just so you have to buy another & they make more money.
To sum up. This film is the worst of the four films. It is watchable BUT no where close to the original 2001 film.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Still good BUT over hyped film
on November 26, 2010

I have always enjoyed this film.
20 years later I still say it was over hyped when released & became the hit it did.
And, yes the character Kevin was acting bad. Any parent would have grounded him at least.
The slap stick comedy was the hit here. Did take enough time to get to the funny parts.
COURSE with this large group no 1 thought to set another clock to ensure they got up in time. BUT that would not have lead to the film. Just to point out these things. PUT the passports, tickets in a safe place not on a counter to get milk spilled on them.
We do get the points of the film about family. The build to the story on the neighbor after the story Buzz told about him that he was just a lonely man who missed his family.
Good to see the late John Candy in here after the 1989 hit Uncle Buck where he & Culkin worked together there.
There are plenty of extras on this DVD.
BUT, MY COMPLAINT & I HAVE HAD THIS COMPLAINT FOR SOME TIME NOW. They used the cheap, intentional holes in them plastic DVD case. I HATE these. Cheap, can damage your DVD so you can go out & buy another.
No chapter search list.
You will enjoy the film & the extras here JUST BE CAREFUL WHEN STORING THE DVD WITH THE CHEAP PLASTIC CASE WITH INTENTIONAL HOLES IN IT.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good collection of episodes, a holiday must Mega W
on November 20, 2010

I have been a MST3K fan since 1993, was a member of the fan club.
This is 1 of my favorite collections on DVD.
"Warrior of the Lost World" is one of my favorite MST3K episodes, 501. "Mega weapon, mega weapon." A Joel episode. The Paper Chase Guy.
I said in the title a holiday must.
You get episode 521 "Santa Claus" a Mike episode & episode 701 "Night of the Blood Beast" another Mike episode. They show on the DVD it was the "Turkey Day 1995" version of the film.
Different extras on the 4 DVD's, best will be for 701 "Night of the Blood Beast" for the "Turkey Day" special.
Miss the show & you can miss the ‘Turkey day” specials.
You will enjoy this collection.

Good 3rd film NEEDS NEW MUSIC
on November 7, 2010
Posted by: CKCSWHFFAN
from home
As of my posting this this is the biggest film of 2010 and the biggest animated film of all time.
A good film. NOT perfect.
You do get the point of the film pushed at you enough about Andy grown up & the toys ending up at Sunnyside.
They could NOT come up with new music. We get AGAIN "You Got A Friend In Me" by Randy Newman. We know Randy does the Pixar film music, BUT THE SAME SONG FROM THE 1ST FILM?
We get introduced to a bunch new toy characters, only a hand full do we really get to see/know. Quick line near the beginning of the film as to why some characters from the first two films did not return. An easy bail.
You may have heard you will tear up at the end. Yes, you may. They did carry the ending out a bit too long & as I said above you get the point all the toys have too much. WE GET THE POINT, DO NOT NEED TO HEAR IT EVERY OTHER LINE.
The Buzz reprogrammed old story line from the 2cd film.
The beginning bit with the toys when Andy is still a kid was good. One can always use a pink Vette.
Normal extras on this 1 disc DVD, but nothing special. NO CHAPTER SEARCH LIST.
It is a good sequel, better than MOST 3rd films. If you liked the first two films you will like this 1.
And, when Batman gets to be Ken & a James Bond in the film as well, worth a look.
I would recommend this to a friend!

NOT good at all & cheap DVD package
on October 30, 2010

I knew I was NOT going to like this film & I was right.
Fan of the show, although I did not get into until season 3.
The first film was OK. BUT a lot of story mistakes but you could kind of enjoy it
When I heard about the storyline for this 2cd film it did NOT sound good..
All four of the woman's lives were NOT happy. NONE of them. They had to make up ways to get all the important supporting characters in just to make fans happy.
Who bought the Stanford & Anthony wedding? Nope. Said in the movie they did NOT like each other in the series, you can buy them becoming friends because they were friends with the girls. Then the over the top wedding?
Made up reasons to bring Smith (Jerry) and Adian back. Bringing in 15 minutes about up Cyrus. NO BUSINESS IN THE FILM.
Carrie & John storyline. Wrong to have a TV in the bed room, this was the best they could do?
The reason Samantha got the free trip? She was NOT sleeping with any of the men to get it so another do NOT buy the story line. They did NOT like Los Angeles but loved the Middle East until the Samantha storyline.
Then they came up with seen a million times so called plot twists before they got out of the Middle East.
The much talked about "flashback". Not worth the VERY BRIEF camera time.
Film too long.
The storyline with Charlotte's nanny. WHO OTHER THAN TO GET A STORY IDEA WOULD LET THEIR NANNY DRESS LIKE THAT ON THE JOB? No one. Then the end of the movie lame get out of that storyline.
Miranda quitting then just without back up as to what happened she had a new job at the end of the film.
A huge misstep. They over hyped the film then it disappointed at the box office. Of course, looked at what you over hyped.
2 lame extras and then……
I HATE THESE THINGS. The DVD makers used one of these CHEAP, INTENTIONAL HOLES PLASTIC CASES. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP BUT THEY DO NOT DROP THE PRICE OF THE DVD. So, the DVD can be damaged for repurchase BUT NO ONE WILL WANT TO REPURCHASE THIS.
No chapter search list.
A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.
What's not so great: plastic case with holes & rest of film

Good comedy BUT CHEAP FULL SCREEN DVD
on October 24, 2010

I have always liked this film.
I had not seen it in years. It still made me laugh
Of course, they ran it into the ground when they kept making sequels that just did NOT work.
My rating is for the film. I am NOT a fan of Travolta's. You see him dancing again & his love of filming were put into the film
Good soundtrack to the film, a couple of Beach Boys songs among them.
This is a cheap DVD. Where is the wide screen people? Full screen, that is it. BE CAREFUL WHEN READING PRELOADED INFORMATION ON WEBSITES ABOUT THIS DVD. I HAVE SEEN WHERE THIS DVD SHOWS IT HAS BOTH WIDE & FULL SCREEN. INCORRECT.
NO extras at all, no chapter search list.
And, of course the other negative. Cheap DVD has 1 of these HORRIBLE plastic DVD cases with the intentional holes in them. HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE & CHEAP. Your DVD can be damaged..
If you like the film go ahead & purchase the DVD. But keep in mind all I say above, cheap, NO WIDE SCREEN, extras, & your DVD can be damaged.
What's not so great: NO WIDE SCREEN & CHEAP DVD PACKAGE

A guilty pleasure BUT WIDE SCREEN/FULL SCREEN PROB
on October 16, 2010

Ok, these films are a guilty pleasure.
They made TOO MANY OF THEM.
This DVD package has the 1st four of the films.
I remember when the 1st film came out.
All of the films are funny, of course the 1st film the 1 that started it all is the best.
You see how many of the characters come & go in the film series.
It is good in this 2 disc collection that all four of the films have an extra "Making of" special.
But, here is what I DO NOT understand.
The 1st 3 films are wide screen but 4 Citizens on Patrol IS FULL SCREEN. Can anyone explain this?
4th film notable for return of G. W. Bailey as Harris. And both David Space & Sharon Stone in early film roles.
2cd film has "WKRP’s" Howard Hesseman. His only appearance in the series
And, of course, the big huge problem I keep complaining about in reviews. It come in these HORRIBLE, CHEAP PLASTIC CASES WITH THE INTENTIONAL HOLES IN THEM. These things are horrible & DVD’s can be damaged.
What's not so great: 1 film full screen & horrible DVD case

Good episode, normal will offend some & another Ra
on October 1, 2010

With everything that is played on TV today why this episode did NOT air makes no sense.
Family Guy offends some & always has. Been a fan since it debuted in 1999.
Plenty of laughs.
Another Raiders of the Lost Ark and Warner Brother cartoons Wile E Coyote reference.
Extras like 9 downloadable songs on this. The Live Table Read is the best.
Of course views on abortion are discussed so IF this offends you do NOT buy the DVD. The jokes on it are in normal Family Guy standard.

Good film, too long & bit confusing
on September 26, 2010

I was looking forward to this film.
Been a fan of Russell's for over 10 years.
You can see Gladiator in this film. A couple of similar scenes.
The 5th teaming up of Russell & Ridley.
3 Oscar winners with Russell, Cate and…..where did they dig up William Hurt? His career was over in the 1980’s & he NEVER deserved his Oscar when it SHOULD have went to Harrison for "Witness".
It is a good film BUT we knew from the publicity press the film would NOT follow normal story lines for the Robin Hood character. I found the storyline to get confusing.
Spoiler……Russell & Cate do NOT meet until an hour into the story.
Was a long film. Scenes like when we meet the John character with another woman other than his wife were unnecessary.
Cheap DVD,. No chapter search list. NO extras on it. There was an HBO special NOT HERE. A special on the History Channel NOT HERE.
Poor, cheap DVD. Good film but confusing & over long.
What's not so great: No extras poor DVD package

Two of the kitschiest cult-classic films of all-time make for two of the most popular episodes in the series run of Mystery Science Theater 3000 on this DVD set from Rhino Home Video. Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Essentials includes "Manos the Hands of Fate" and "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians," along with the bonus short "Hired! Part II," all presented in full-screen. The two-disc collection also features an MST3K blooper reel.

Good package for any MSTIE WITH A SPOILER
on September 12, 2010

I have been a MSTIE since maybe 1992 or 1993.
This is a good 2 episode package.
Episode 424 Manos The Hands of Fate A following on this episode. Mike did the character in later episodes & the theme music also appeared in later episodes. This is an OK episode for me. Not a stand out in my eyes. The short "Hired! Part II" is good.
Episode 321 Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. I have always enjoyed this one. One BAD Christmas movie. You watch the “Invention Exchange” to see how Dr Forrester (Trace) & TV's Frank (Frank) change the gifts by turning the boxes upside down. It is funny, bad polar bear & robot costumes. IF you get depressed at Christmas time watch this episode it will make you laugh.
Both of these are Joel episodes.
There is a disc of shorts. Shorts have both Mike & Joel.
And, it has a "blooper reel".

The Kardashian sisters feel the impact of celebrity in this season, when Khloé must deal with the very public aftermath of her DUI, while Kim and Kourtney contend with sibling rivalry as their professional and personal relationships blur.

Guilty pleasure, MUCH IMPROVED OVER SEASON 2
By CKCSWHFFAN from home
Yes, the show is a guilty pleasure.
Episodes that aired in 2009. 12 episodes this season
Now, THE IMPROVEMENTS. 1. The episodes are wide screen, 2. Disc 1 has deleted scenes & 3. Disc 2 has commentary for episodes. Why not with each episode-no clue about that. But it is MUCH better than the blog from Rob on season 2.
Now, this time out apparently there are ONLY 3 Kardashians in this season. Kourtney, Kim & Khloe are only shown on both sides of the DVD case. BOTH discs have the same photo of them. So, they do NOT give credit to Kris, Bruce, Rob, Kendall & Kylie? Show is called Keeping Up With The Kardashians NOT Keeping Up With The Kardashian Sisters.
1 big mistake done again on this DVD. Same CHEAP, PLASTIC DVD CASE WITH THE INTENTIONAL HOLES IN IT. CHEAP & NOT SAFE. Apparently the DVD makers just want people to buy this over & over again since the DVD are NOT safely secure.
And, a point for anyone. There was MASS CONFUSION ABOUT THE RELEASE DATE OF THIS DVD. It was released 8-17-10. Some stores & websites changed the date until 9-21-10. THIS WAS UNTRUE. I purchased the DVD from a local store 8-18-10. So, make sure IF you want it check with the store. DO NOT GO BY PRINTED MATERIAL
