One of the coolest facial devices I've ever used
on May 16, 2022
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
from Spokane, WA
A facial device? Does anyone really need something like this? Well, I can safely say that this is one of the most unique devices I've had the privilege of using in my lifetime, and would have to recommend it to most people.
Unboxing the device is easy, and upon doing so it's recommended to charge the device fully prior to first use. I did so, and during charging decided to watch the instructional videos to familiarize myself with the different modes and uses. At first, the info was a little overwhelming, but upon using the modes for a couple of times I had no issues after that.
My primary focus was using the different LED lights to aid in wrinkles/fine lines around my face, use the blue LED to keep acne/facial balance, and the percussive treatment options to relieve pressure and tension across my face.
After a week of use, I honestly do believe that the small amount of acne that I'd get from time to time has subsided. On top of that, the percussive therapy options feel so good during use. After getting a massage my face felt relaxed and relieved. Again, I'm unsure of the long term health benefits to doing the routines, but I'm using under the assumption it can't hurt my face.
I think the two biggest gripes I have are as follows.
One: The instructions are terrible. There basically aren't any, and the only way to figure how to use the device and the different care options are to go to the website to watch the videos. I know having videos is tough to implement in paper instructions, but there's almost no guidance on anything packaged with the system.
Battery life is great; I've yet to recharge my device using every day for about 5-6 minutes each session, with LED and percussive treatments.
The build quality feels solid, and the different attachments are held together via magnets which makes them easy and quick to pop off and on.
Two: Accessing the instructional videos isn't easy to do on mobile. The paper that comes with device tells you to download the app to watch the videos but the app doesn't have anything related to the TheraFace PRO yet.
Those two grips aside, once you figure out the different routines and how to use the device best for your skin and adding it to your routine, the two cons don't matter as much. This is why I still would recommend this device and think it's a great addition to anyone's skincare routine.
The jury is still out on the longevity benefits of using the TheraFace, but the immediate feelings of all the different modes does make a difference. As such, I really have fallen in love with mine, and would recommend to most people out there looking to treat their face a little better.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very neat, easy to use whitening system
on May 16, 2022

A teeth whitening system you can use at home, without a dentist, you say? That does sound like an interesting product, and it had me skeptical at first. After a little time with my Snow Whitening System, I can safely say that it does in fact work, without too many frills to worry about.
Upon first receiving my Snow product, unboxing it was easy. There's not much in there to worry about in terms of setting up. The package comes with a charging cord (no USB power brick), the mouthpiece, base, and whitening gels.
My biggest gripe about the whole package is that the instructions are very barren. There's just a little pamphlet with four diagrams on how to use the system. Sure, maybe this is all you need but I suspect people would prefer a little more info on using the system out of the gate. In fact, I had to search myself about my mouthpiece's issue (more on that below), because I didn't know if it was charging at all.
That said, the usage is simple: paint some gel on your teeth, put a little lip balm on (the gel is very moisture sucking, don't skip this step), turn on the whitening program you want, and sit with the mouthpiece in. I generally sat for 15 minutes, and saw results after four uses.
The battery life was pretty good, and don't have any issues about that aspect of the system. I also believe that you won't need refills of the gel anytime soon, which was good to see that you'd be set with the initial package for a while.
One hiccup I had with my model that I originally received, however, was that my base wouldn't charge my mouthpiece. I contacted support and they quickly swapped out my models. However, one thing to note is that you have to use the company's USB C cord to charge the base. The base's voltage won't work with any other cord, which I do look at as a minor annoyance. Of course, you probably aren't lugging the system around everywhere you go, but still, is something to note.
Overall, the Snow Teeth Whitening System is a pretty good product that has shown me results in my short time with it, and as such would recommend it to most people looking for a good way to whiten their teeth on their own.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Sure, it’s great for Netflix, the big game and the real housewives of wherever. But the U7G is made for the gamers. It’s got our exclusive ULED technologies, 4K resolution, Quantum Dot Color, Dolby Vision HDR, Full Array Local Dimming zones and Android TV operating system. On top of all that, we added a 120Hz Native panel for smoother, more fluid motion and HDMI 2.1, Variable Refresh Rate and Auto Low Latency Mode for gaming. The U7G also has up to 1,000 nits peak brightness, which makes HDR ‘pop’ and means the picture is lit no matter how bright the room. All this looks great on paper. Now think how much better it would look on this TV.

Great TV for most use cases, specifically gaming
on January 17, 2022
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
from Seattle, WA
Fantastic 4K tv for the price, the Hisense U7G is probably a great bet for most people looking to upgrade or for using a TV specifically for gaming purposes.
To start out, unboxing the TV is painless and standard; you’ll most likely want another person to help you set things up, as is standard. Once the TV is out of the box, you’ll be able to wall-mount it with the VESA 300x200 mount or attach the feet if you plan to place the tv on a surface. One thing to note is that the feet can be placed inwards or outwards if space is an issue.
The U7G itself looks like a solid, mid-level tv. The bezels are thin enough, and the metal border is a nice touch. On the back, there is a metal backplate attached whereas the rest of the tv is plastic. This is what you’d expect around this budget, and everything feels solid enough, though there are some clips at the back, which add some depth to the tv if looking to wall mount the tv.
But, enough about the tv looks: we want to know how the tv performs and produces content.
Overall, for the price picture quality will be great for most. Blacks are deep thanks to the U7G’s fantastic contrast ratio and the local dimming technology. HDR content is crisp, and the tv switches between the modes with no issues. There are 90 FALD zones on the 65” version, which is decent enough.
The biggest issues with this panel are glare and viewing angle, which I expected from it due to the VA panel itself. This is great for blacks and color accuracy straight on, along with motion handling, but deteriorates quickly from an angle. Again, unless you’re worried about this specifically then you probably won’t notice a huge dropoff, but if you know what to look for then this may be a distraction.
As for gaming, you’ll be happy if this is your primary use case for the U7G. The 120hz panel handles motion wonderfully, and will also handle VRR across HDMI, too. Using the ‘Game’ picture mode allows you to take advantage of all the great gaming goodness that Hisense put into the tv, along with very low input lag (not enough to notice an issue across the board).
Overall, I think this TV is perfect for most households. Unless you’re looking for the richest colors across wider viewing angles or always watch movies/tv-shows in pitch black, there’s enough here, especially for gamers, that you wouldn’t really need to consider other options. The great price point helps this, too.

One of the best things available for your iPad Pro
on December 4, 2021
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
from Seattle, WA
This is one of the coolest products I’ve had the pleasure of using in a while, I’ll say that. While expensive, this can truly transform your iPad Pro into a full-fledged laptop, which I never felt like before.
Unboxing the Brydge MAX+ keyboard was easy and straightforward. Connecting to your iPad is also easy and straightforward: simply hold down the bluetooth pairing button on the keyboard and connect to the iPad. From there, it’s game on.
Once connected, you’ll find that the trackpad acts like a traditional trackpad on a computer, which is nice. If you’re familiar with Mac trackpads, you’ll also notice there are nice gestures you can use that are identical to the ones found on Macbooks alike. This was welcome and really made the device feel like a computer once connected.
The case itself feels incredibly solid and the Space Grey color matches my Space Grey iPad perfectly. This should last a long time and protect my iPad from a decent amount of elements, or in the rare case, a long drop.
The biggest caveat is the Brydge app itself. Brydge states that you should download the app to get the latest firmware update for the keyboard case, but in my few days of trying I couldn’t get the keyboard to ever actually update; the app wouldn’t recognize being connected to the keyboard.
It didn’t seem to affect the functionality of the keyboard as of now, but in the future that could be an issue.
Other than that, there’s nothing else to dislike. I never had any issues reconnecting or the trackpad not working, etc. Sure, the case adds a bit of heft to things when you’re lugging your iPad around, but that’s also a feature for some to know things are protected and feel solid.
Overall, I’d 100% recommend this to anyone with an iPad Pro that likes to bridge the gap (pun intended) sometimes when on the go. It’s perfect for when we don’t need to lug around our bigger Macbook Pro’s for jobs, but still allows us to do quite a bit of work on the go.

Great Printer for All
on December 4, 2021
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
from Seattle, WA
Overall, the HP Smart Tank 7301 is a great printer for home office users that don’t want/require the bulk of a true laser jet printer.
Unboxing the printer was easy, as are all HP printers nowadays and setting everything up was also a breeze. If you haven’t set up an HP printer lately, they’re all essentially the same thing: plug the printer in, turn it on, download the HP Smart Print application on either your computer/laptop or smartphone, and then follow the instructions to get connected.
It’s really that simple, honestly.
Once you’re up and running you can print/scan/copy straight from your device’s controls, as long as your printer is actively connected to your wifi and has a signal.
As far as printing speeds go, this won’t blow you out of the water, but it gets the job done. I will say, from my time with the printer, the overall quality output seems to be higher than other small/home office printer lines from HP like the Envy. Using dedicated photo paper delivered quality results which I, as a professional photographer, enjoyed.
I wouldn’t use this for true client work, but for prints smaller than 8x10 is a good choice.
The biggest selling point of the 7301, though, are it’s ink tanks. These are supposed to deliver longevity of a toner cartridge in the form factor of an inkjet-based printer. Time will tell but we’ve printed a decent amount and I don’t think I’ve seen the tanks budge on capacity.
At any rate, I’d recommend this printer to most people: it’s small, easy to set up, and can do almost everything needed for day-to-day printing for small office spaces.

A fantastic phone for almost everyone
on November 4, 2021
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
from Seattle, WA
Let’s get this out of the way: the Google Pixel 6 is a great phone from Google. There’s really not a whole lot to nitpick with and makes a compelling case for anyone looking to switch from Apple’s iPhone over to Android.
It seems Google has taken the Apple approach with its latest flagship, as the unboxing process is simple and easy. There’s a USB-C dongle (to help transfer data from other phones, which is fantastic; more on that later), and USB-C cable for charging, a SIM card tool, and the phone itself.
The overall design of the Pixel 6 is solid. There’s nothing, to me, that sticks out to “wow” you but that’s perfectly fine with me, at the same time. The screen is large, and the little cut-out for the front-facing camera is really nice compared to the iPhone’s “notch”.
The USB-B to USB-C cable is a really nice addition. For me, I was planning to use my Pixel 6 as a true work phone; my wife and I own a business and have been using our Apple iPhones exclusively to do so. So. when it came time to power on and set up the Pixel 6, that cable came in handy. Google has built-in a neat transfer software, and it worked flawlessly taking our data from both iPhones onto the Pixel 6.
The only real hiccup is that the Pixel 6 can’t transfer data that’s held in iCloud, but that makes sense since Google can’t access that from the phone specifically.
Once set up, you’re pretty much ready to go.
One of my favorite Google features is that when you search the Google bar for anything, Google will populate results from the Play Store as well, meaning you can simply search without opening the Play Store and still install apps.
Apps installed will automatically pop up in new home screen tabs.
Speaking of, swiping left will bring up the Google screen which gathers your data to populate news and articles based on your past interests. It’s similar to Google Chrome’s way of doing it and is a feature I like (more so than Apple News, for what it’s worth).
Of course, everything is snappy out of the box, especially new technology, so the true test will be longevity, especially since the phone features Google’s new CPU chip. The chip also promises better battery life, and is very responsive to the phone’s 90hz screen. Unfortunately, this screen rate is locked (unlike the Pixel 6 Pro’s which is variable), but this should also produce standard battery life across the board. In my time with it, I’ve gotten a solid two full days of use out of it. That’s with no specific settings changed to gain better battery life.
The 5G connectivity is nice, but that’s not a true surprise to anyone.
The camera is also great, as is to be expected with the Pixel line, which has always been a strong suit of Google’s. There are a few neat features that people will like, and nighttime performance is very very good.
Another neat, not super advertised feature is the wireless charger that sits on the back panel of the phone. This is great because it will charge specific devices Thus, the Pixel 6 is a wireless charger in a pinch which is fantastic.
Speaking of new features, the fingerprint sensor is a welcome sight. We all know that facial recognition is great and fast, but hard to do when on the go in the current state of the world. Thus, the front screen fingerprint sensor really helps when you’re in a hurry and just want to use your phone.
There are really only a couple of cons worth noting.
First off, if you don’t use a case (which, most likely won’t be the case, but wanted to mention this), the fingerprint smudges can be fairly annoying.
Also, the side buttons (volume, and screen lock), on my model seem a little shaky in build. There’s just a little too much give than I’d prefer to see in a $600 device.
Lastly, while I really like and prefer the fingerprint sensor built into the front screen itself (especially when out and about), there have been times where its usefulness suffers, not recognizing my fingers in different positions.
All this said, I think the Pixel 6 Pro is better suited to my personal tastes, but for most people, the Pixel 6 should be enough phone for most. I think this is a fantastic option, especially with its attractive $599.99 price.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed getting one for yourself.

Good e-bike for beginner/cruiser riders
on October 5, 2021
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
from Seattle, WA
As far as I know, this is the first entry into any sort of e-bike seen for SWFT. I had a very positive experience with this bike, and overall, a very solid and enticing option for those looking for a cruiser e-bike.
First up, it’s important to note that you will be required to put together some of the bike components themselves. This is important as many most likely haven't worked on bikes in their lifetime or have tons of experience doing so. You’ll need a couple of tools (screwdriver and hex wrench, for starters) and there is some technical stuff involved.
Putting the bike together was probably the most tedious part. I think SWFT could do a better job of creating instructions, and accessing the videos wasn’t as straightforward as I would’ve liked (plus, they weren’t even available when initially putting the bike together). The biggest headache was the brakes, and I had to figure those out for myself (lining up the pads with the tire and making sure the brake would apply the right amount of force).
One nice part of putting the bike together is the removable battery, along with the included keys to lock it into place during riding/not in use as an extra security measure.
Once assembly is done you can get a feel for the quality of the bike itself. Overall, my frame and everything felt very nice and premium, in some respects. The seat is very comfy, albeit a little dense in terms of foam, and the handlebars have a nice accent to them. Adjusting is easy, too, if needed.
The kickstand and wheels also appear made to last, which is a good sign from a newer company. Of course, sometimes quality can add weight to something. While this isn’t a heavy bike by any means, I wouldn’t classify it as light, either. Just food for thought.
Once everything is put together and you’ve marveled at the quality of the machine, it’s time to take it out for the actual riding part.
Before this, I will say that at 5’ 6” this bike is right at the comfort point, as it’s a large bike and rides “tall”, as I believe it’s called. This means coming to a stop is a tad harder, but nothing major (and I knew this going in). If you’re unaware this is a one-gear bike and is really made for those that want that pedal-assist feature for effortless, longer rides/cruises around town.
After fully charging the battery prior to my first ride, it seems these batteries (500W) do have some juice in them. I’ve ridden well over 50 miles now and still have one bar of battery left (differing usage, of course). This is really good to see and backs up the claim of 37 mi on a single throttle charge.
The throttle is smooth (does have a safety delay, though) and once you get used to the different uses on the screen display on the left handlebar everything is effortless to get working/continue using.
We’ve since attached our Burley trailer to haul our kids around on our bike rides and an e-bike makes quick work of pulling things, seemingly without hampering performance or battery usage (can still hit 20mph all-electric).
My only real con is that on the level 2 pedal-assist the bike almost rides itself and pedaling can feel a bit uneasy due to the help from the battery. In addition, the speedometer doesn't go above 20mph regardless of how fast you’re currently traveling.
That all said, I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone looking for a first e-bike. I think the price is good around $800 (it’s been on sale a couple of times), and it seems like a good first foray into the market for SWFT.

Great smart lock, just a little high price
on July 15, 2021
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
from Seattle, WA
This is a fantastic little lock if you can stomach the slightly higher than other lock price.
Let’s start with the basics: the lock feels solid upon unboxing, and I didn’t notice any issues with the overall build quality. We chose the matte black version and it looks great with our current hardware around the house. Moving to the install, it’s pretty smooth and easy to do if you have a couple of tools. The lock does take a CR2 battery that is placed inside the lock itself.
Even if you haven’t installed a lock previously, the instructions are clear and it’s a simple process overall.
Now, for the lock’s actual use.
First off, you should know there are multiple ways to unlock the lock: via an NFC card, an app, physical keys, and an interesting fencing option that allows you to map out a perimeter to automatically control unlocking and locking the door when you get inside that perimeter.
Every single unlock function worked for me, with a few caveats.
The first major one is that while you can allow specific access to different people via the app, you can’t control absolute details of this access (say, only allowing access on specific days of the week or specific time frames), which other locks can do. Also, details of when the lock is unlocked/locked are accessible via the app, but only the last 20 entries (at least at the time of testing), which for me isn’t an issue, but if you’re in and out many days it may be hard to keep up.
The only real downside, it seems, is if you don’t have a few different Apple devices around it may be a bit harder to utilize all the features, as these are necessary to control some features when outside of the home.
But, those few gripes aside, you’re in for a treat of a unlock experience should you decide to purchase a Level Touch. I hope to add another to our main backdoor to get the full experience in the near future.

You can't use circles to clean a square corner. That's why Neato introduced the D-shape to the industry more than 15 years ago. That D-shape allows for a brush right at the edge of the vacuum, instead of in between wheels like those round robots. This D-shape also fits an extra-large dirt bin that holds more during a cleaning session. The result? Corner-to-corner and edge-to-edge cleaning in a short amount of time. The Neato D8 has 30%+ longer runtime than the D4. That's 100 minutes of cleaning on a single charge. If your robot needs more time to finish a long cleaning run, it will auto-recharge and resume from exactly where it left off to finish the job. You don't have to babysit your robot while it's cleaning—with Neato, you can just let it run. The powerful performance you have come to expect from Neato continues with the D8. Combined with a High-Performance filter that traps up to 99% of allergens and dust particles, this is one vacuum you'll want to use every day. Switch from energy-saving Eco Mode for general vacuuming to high-performance Turbo Mode for a more powerful clean. The Neato D8 uses LaserSmart powered by LIDAR, the same technology found in self-driving vehicles, to map and navigate your home with precision, even in the dark like under furniture. Using lasers to understand where it is in your home, Neato methodically cleans from room to room in straight lines for a quicker clean, leaving your carpets with that satisfying just-vacuumed look. Worried about stairs? There's no need to be with Neato. Drop sensors automatically detect stairs to avoid falling down them and continues to learn your floorplan as you use it. Get cleaning in minutes with Neato’s hassle-free, Bluetooth-enabled setup. Using the MyNeato app, create No-Go Zones to define areas your robot should avoid like your pet's eating area and schedule Routines to clean when you want. It's an experience that makes Neato the clear choice for clean.

Great first robot vac for most, look for sales
on May 12, 2021
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
from Seattle, WA
If you’re looking for a good overall robot vacuum, the Neato D8 is a solid purchase from my experience thus far with the machine. I’ve used approx. four robot vacuums over the past four years, and overall they tend to work great at first but slowly lose their luster over time. I can't say what time will do for the D8 (my first from them) but the start up and initial time with it is good.
Let’s break things down from the unboxing.
Set up is very straightforward from the start. You'll need to download the app, go through a few steps to get your house mapped out. Make sure you get the MyNeato app; the Neato app itself won't work with the D8. There are two initial runs of mapping and then you're set to vacuum. You can set up schedules or specific times for your robot to clean, which is a nice touch.
There are two cleaning modes: Eco and Turbo. From my understanding, Turbo should pick up more by almost doubling the suction power, but I really did see that in real-world usage. So, I'd just keep it in Eco all the time unless you need heavy-duty usage. Turbo was better on carpet/rugs but is noticeably louder than Eco. This should be noted: the vacuum itself is really pretty quiet, specifically compared to one other robot I have in the house currently.
Typical clean time is about 20 min for my 1200 sq ft upstairs which I think it's fair. The battery seems good and hasn't had any issues with cleaning the whole house when necessary. Speaking of cleaning, one thing I really like about the D8 is that if your unit encounters an error it won’t just stop cleaning; it continues on and you can fix it after the cleaning run. This is unlike any other robot vacuums I’ve used and I think is a great feature that more should utilize.
Canister size is also the best I’ve used and can easily do two runs of the house without needing to empty and affecting suction performance.
Lastly, I'll say that the D8 did work well on hardwood/laminate flooring, but remember that robot vacuums aren't really supposed to be your every week vacuum machine. They should complement your larger vacuum routine. Also, should you encounter any issues I’ve heard Neato customer service is very helpful in regards to their products, which is something I can say is always appreciated.
All that said, I think the D8 is a good purchase if you can find it on sale. Enough features and function in the mid/top-range from Neato to be worth it, and the company's app is the best I've used so far.
Overall, would recommend.

Great Printer for Small Tasks

If you’re in the market for a new printer that can double as a small-business/small-office printer, look no further than the Envy 6400 series from HP. Set up was very easy via an app on smartphone, somewhat small footprint, lights to let you know printer status, and sound build quality.
First, let’s talk about the setup. HP has made this really even. I’m confident my 75-year old grandparents wouldn’t have an issue setting up. I’ll admit I had a hiccup at first because I had plugged the printer into my computer to do setup wired first (like most printers nowadays need), but this is the opposite with the Envy 6455.
Setting up wireless first actually is the way it’s supposed to go, and you just download the app or software on to your computer (you can uninstall said software after installation if preferred, but not the most recommended), tap or click a few things, connect to your network, and then you’re good to go. I had no issues once starting this process.
As far as print quality goes, it’s what you’d expect from a printer in this category: will get the job done. Scans were clear, and printing was fast enough for what most people will use. Don’t expect laserjet speed here and you’ll be fine.
Colors are crisp, and really the only gripe is for photos some of the color tones get distributed a bit tighter than wanted, but it’s not a dedicated photo printer so I’m not too surprised.
Feature-wise, this is where I really prefer the Envy 6455: auto double-sided printing, the document feeder is good for those few times I needed to scan in multiple pages, hidden paper compartment, and Instant Ink is an option for those that like that.
The only thing to note is that if you do like a wired connection there isn’t a USB included to do so.
Overall, I like this printer and would recommend it to anyone for easy, all-around usage with no frills and prefer a small, clean look.

How long does the battery last when not gaming and using the integrated graphics? Is the screen matted or glossy?

Screen is matte with Anti-Glare coating. My battery, after 6 days of use and use most of the time, averaged 3hr 5min when doing normal things. Hope this helps.
