Meet the Ninja Double Oven, the countertop oven that unlocks the power of two ovens in the counter space of one. Only Ninja has the FlexDoor that creates 2 separate ovens so you can cook 2 meals, 2 ways at different temperatures and cooking times. Use just the Top Rapid Oven for quick snacks, sides, and sheet pan meals—or the Bottom Convection & Air Fry Oven for larger roasts, bakes, or air frying up to 6 lbs of wings. You can also sync both independent ovens to cook a full course meal that finishes cooking at the same time with Smart Finish technology. While your meal cooks, FlavorSeal technology prevents flavor crossover between ovens. The Smart Cook System precisely monitors temperatures with the leave-in thermometer, so you don't have to. Two oven cavities in one eliminate back-to-back cooking for 65% faster meal-making than your traditional oven so you can put your wall oven out of business. Plus, this countertop dual oven features 12 cooking functions for the ultimate versatility.

Great, but hefty, multipurpose countertop oven
on March 1, 2023

This oven/air fryer from Ninja is a perfect companion to a traditional oven, as long as you can get past the overall size of it.
If you’re looking for a great working, accurate oven and air fryer to act as your all-in-one device for toasting, baking meals, and frying, there’s not much better than the 12-1 Ninja from my experience. It’s efficient, spacious, and versatile, there’s not much to dislike about it.
Upon arrival, the box is big. One thing you really should do is double check you have the space to put this oven on your counter, or wherever. It’s large, and heavy. Setting up was easy, and took about 10 minutes to get all the plastic and packing materials unboxed. Inside you’ll find a couple of baking pans, a wire basket for air frying, two wire sheets, the thermometer, and guides.
The build quality feels great across the board; nothing is loose and most everything seems sturdy and that it should last.
The 12 different modes include: Bake, broil, reheat, keep warm, bagel, and toast in the Top Rapid Oven. Air fry, convection bake, pizza, air roast, whole roast, and dehydrate in the Bottom Convection & Air Fry Oven. I wouldn’t consider this a true 12-1 device, as some of the marketing for each mode is the same. That said, they all work as advertised, and the controls are intuitive and easy to use. Everything cooked extremely fast, extremely consistently, and didn’t need any additional cooking time to complete the process.
That said, the coolest feature is the Smart thermometer. It can be inserted into the food, and it will send real-time temperature updates to the oven's control panel. This allows you to monitor the temperature of your food without having to open the oven door, which helps to ensure that your food is cooked to perfection. Another good safety feature I prefer is the display will show “Hot” after cooking and during cool down. This ensures you and other members of your family know it’s still hot.
The only feature I don’t like is that the oven continues to cook when you open either door. I don’t mind it, but got used to my other oven cutting the power when I opened it. I also wish there were two crumb trays for both the top and bottom, especially since the top is the only one that can air fryer.
All that said, if you can get over the bulk and heft of the oven, I’d be shocked if there is any better multipurpose oven on the market right now. Overall, I’d easily recommend this to anyone looking to up their cooking game.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A great soundbar, with slight limitations
on December 14, 2022
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
So, the Devialet Dione: a soundbar to replace a whole 5.1.2 sound system. Can it deliver on such promise? For me, I believe it gets most of the way there. Really is a 4.5 star review.
Let’s start off by talking about the unboxing and general feel of the Dione. There’s no way around it: the soundbar looks, feels, and is boxed like a premium product. The Dione features metal materials, and the mesh used to house some of the speakers is very fine, but seemingly rugged.
The sphere in the middle, housing the center channels, is something of a talking piece. I personally enjoy the design as it’s something different than you normally see. It’s also big and heavy; taking up the better part of a TV stand at nearly 48” long. This shouldn’t be a big deal for some, though, as you can also mount the Dione on a wall, which is great.
Once out of the box, setup is also straightforward, though you’ll have to use the Devialet app to finish putting it together. There is no physical remote used, and you’ll need a Devialet account as well, which may annoy some.
There are few ports to use on the back underside of the device: one HDMI eARC, one optical, one power, and one ethernet port. Some may scoff at this, but the reality is if you’re using a soundbar you should’t need a ton of connections.
Now that we’re connected, let’s talk about sound itself.
In one word, it’s wonderful. And boy, without bass reducer turned on, there is a ton of deep, low-end frequencies hit. Once you turn on the bass reducer, you’re met with a cleaner, slightly more detailed sound overall. The low notes are still there, but less punchy across all frequencies. In this case, it certainly improves the whole soundstage.
For music, the Dione performs very well. I wish there was more detail on the high frequency range, but the reality is the drivers perform darn good, and produce a clean, slightly refined and tight soundstage.
For movies without an Atmos audio track, the Dione is the least effective. According to Devialet, the Dione will upmix all 5.1 basic Dolby Digital mixes to Atmos, but I found this effect to be mediocre, at best. I tested this with Mad Max: Fury Road across two different audio mixes, and the Atmos one was far better at utilizing all 17 speakers inside the Dione to create an engulfing sound experience.
For movies/shows with an Atmos audio mix, though, the Dione did an admirable job at recreating the height and side/back speakers you’d expect from a true 5.1.2 Atmos setup. Watching Andor on Disney+ really highlighted this for me, as ships and blaster fire was being thrown around the TV room with haste and true sound.
Remember the sphere in the middle of the Dione that handles all dialogue? Well, that center channel is probably the highlight of the Dione. Dialogue is so clear and crisp that, at times, you can hear the ruffling of jackets/coats on the main people on screen. Just like the bass and low-end, Devialet seems to have found the formula for dialogue.
One nice part of the Dione is there is a 2-year warranty offered, which is something you don’t always see with soundbars. In my short experience with customer service they were great as well.
So, overall, I think there’s a real reason to consider the Dione if you fit into a semi-specific category of people. The sound produced is fantastic, the low-end is legit rivaled by no other soundbar, and the dialogue is almost too clear at times. There’s no DTS:X support, but for most this isn’t going to be an issue. The inclusion of a bass-reducer toggle in the latest firmware update helps a lot to tighten up sound, though I still hope to see some other ways to tweak the sound moving forward.
I’d definitely recommend the Dione to anyone searching for a premium soundbar experience, though to know about it’s little shortcomings from the start.

A good car charger, even for big phones
on October 12, 2022
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
So, this is a newly released magnetic car charger from Best Buy's in-house brand, Insignia.
If you're in the market for a charger for that new iPhone 13 or 14 Pro Max, you could do a lot worse for the money.
I believe this is Best Buy's second attempt at a car charger with MagSafe, and it's a solid entry point that will work for most people's needs.
Unboxing is nothing special, and everything is plug right in and go. The cord that attaches to the charger isn't too long, nor is it too short; it's a good length.
Once plugged in you just slide the vent prongs where you want them to be and are good from there.
I never had my phone fall off the charger during use, no matter how rough the roads were or how tight a turning radius I needed to do. My phone would charge at about 1% per minute, which to me is acceptable. I believe some can do it faster, but this is good to me. You can move the direction of the pad how you want and then tighten it from there via a washer on the back of the pad. I found this strength ok, but sometimes due to the weight of my phone (14 Pro Max + case), the pad would move directions.
In reality, the only gripe with the charger is that the prongs that connect to your air vents is a tad tricky for vents that are portrait/vertical oriented rather than landscape/horizontal. We tried this on our two vehicles, and the one with upright vents was more of a pain to deal with than the one with horizontal ones.
That said, it's the only gripe. The price is good, the quality seems good, magnetics strong, and cord isn't too long. I'd recommend for sure.

The direct-drive analogue turntable was first achieved worldwide by Technics. It alleviated issues such as signal-to-noise ratio and wow and flutter, which had until then posed problems for turntables. This turntable attracted interest for its high performance and reliability, and left a considerable track record, including use by broadcast stations. The performance and track record of the direct-drive turntable continues unabated to the present day, with support by numerous audiophiles. With a direct-drive system, the sound of the turntable can be even further enhanced. This is the uncompromising attitude and confidence of Technics, the creator of direct drive. Development of the SL-1210G thus began. The latest technologies have been added to solve issues involved with direct-drive systems, such as cogging. The SL-1210G includes a newly developed coreless direct-drive motor with greatly increased precision by incorporating Blu-ray Disc technology for rotation control. This cutting-edge direct-drive system will surpass previous direct-drive systems. It is not a reproduction but innovation. We are redefining the reference in direct-drive turntables for the modern age.

Fantastic turntable offering from Technics
on October 9, 2022
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
If you’re unfamiliar with the Technics brand this turntable probably shouldn’t be something to look at. However, if you know the Technics brand (under the Panasonic brand), then you know why you’re here.
One look at the 1210G and you’ll see what I mean. It’s a work of art, and the turntable feels extremely sturdy and solid; clocking in at over 40lbs, this makes sense. The craftsmanship here cannot be understated: overall, the SL-1210G features numerous items to deliver the purest sound on vinyl around. This turntable is easy to see as being engineered from the ground-up to deliver on that front.
Unboxing the 1210G was straightforward, and since the tone arm is factory-installed and already factory-balanced (a clever “balanced” sticker is there for you to see upon opening), it was easy enough to get things dialed in.
The Grand Class version is just about the pinnacle of turntable design, which should be expected from Technics.
Speaking of the pinnacle, delivering a precise sound with as little interference from the turntable as possible seems to have been Technics' mission. Its brass and aluminum platter features a reinforced three-layer structure with anti-resonance rubber backing, which is also paired with Technics’ three-layer plinth that is found in the marquee 1200MK turntable, making sure you don’t have to worry about vibrations.
The 1210G features an added top layer for looks and extra rigidity, however.
The tonearm uses a gimbal technology paired with unique precision bearings create an incredibly stable tonearm. The 1210G’s signature coreless direct drive motor is renowned across the industry and is featured here as well.
Now that we’ve gone through the components, how does it deliver on the promise of uncompromised sound quality?
Exactly how you would expect.
For the cartridge I used an Ortofon 2M Bronze; speakers are KEF LS50’s; amplifier is a Yamaha A-S801. Overall, I found everything simply sounded tighter, and there was far less noise hum and interference. Exactly what I wanted, and expected, from this offering.
To be honest, the only issue I have with the SL-1210G is that it doesn’t include a cartridge within the package. Sure, you could argue that spending this much on a turntable would mean that that person has already found their preferred cartridge of choice, but even still, it is a bit of a letdown.
This all said I expect my 1210 to last me 50+ years of extremely profound listening, delivering smiles the entire time I have it going.

A good, solid starting point for home protection

If you need an alarm system, you wouldn’t have the wrong choice with this Simplisafe bundle.
Overall, the setup is very easy and straightforward. If you’ve never used a Simplisafe system, it’s the easiest it’s ever been now: just download the app and follow the few steps to get up and running.
Included are door sensors, three total cameras, window sensors, and the keypad/base station. I wish that there were any motion sensors and a remote included, but that’s a minor thing and I knew going in.
Speaking of the app, I never had any issues using it. The app isn’t bloated or anything; all the info you need is right there, and easily accessible. One note that some may not prefer is that you will need to create a Simplisafe account to start monitoring services. This is expected, but something to note is all.
I wish there was a way to connect my cameras/monitoring to another alarm system. Of course, that probably won’t ever happen, but it would be nice to utilize other cameras if/when necessary.
The alarm itself is quick to trigger, and you can customize a few of the settings to tweak the Home and Away modes through the app to tweak it for your needs.
That little gripe aside, there’s not really much else to say about this Simplisafe system. The setup was easy, the monitoring is easy to use, my alarm worked as intended, and there are enough components included in this bundle to get give you a pretty solid protection area from the start.

Good desktop speaker, lacks bass and depth though
on September 7, 2022
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
Overall, these are great speakers and most will probably like them. There are a couple of things that I believe hold them back acoustically, but for around $200 they’re a solid pair and most likely better than anything you’d currently be using.
Let’s start with the good:
The speakers look great and have a great form factor. They’re slightly unusual and modern in shape which helps with wanting to buy them and display them.
Setting them up was fairly straightforward, though you may want to know that you have to connect speaker wires to both speakers to get LR channel to work properly. Not unheard of, but if you were looking for true wireless you may want to look elsewhere.
Once they’re set up, and they do require a power outlet for constant power draw, you’re pretty much ready to go. You have the option to switch outputs on the fly, meaning you can easily change between wireless Bluetooth from your phone or laptop, or onboard desktop pretty seamlessly. I found this feature to be nice and easy to use.
Now, for the sound. If you’re familiar with JBL as a company, you may have an idea of what the sonic profile is going for; that is, a very clear, concise soundstage with little warmth and depth. The detail is great, but the low end leaves a lot to be desired. The high end features a slightly metal sound, sort of like Klipsch with its aluminum tweeter design, but again these are small drivers.
These have the “Professional” monitor marketing on them, alluding that these are catered more towards folks who prefer a good, clean sound, rather than top to bottom clarity, depth, and some bass to round it out.
Unfrontetely, I don’t believe that there is a way to tweak the EQ of the sound, which is a bummer to me. You can, of course, do it through your preferred player or amp, but a few onboard settings may have been nice.
Overall, I think these are solid speakers and produce a good enough sound for the price to recommend them. Just know these aren’t punching too far above their weight.

Bose hit a home run with its latest earbuds
on September 7, 2022
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
These days, there are a lot of noise-canceling earbuds to buy. Specifically, though, people with Apple devices generally gravitate towards Airpods as the seamlessness between Apple devices is something they crave.
I’m here to tell you that with the QuietComfort II, Bose is gunning for that crowd, hoping that a vastly better sound profile, more options from noise cancelation features, better fit, and decent battery life will be enough for users to cut the Apple cord for their earbud device.
Let’s start with setup/box opening. Upon opening, you’ll find the earbuds, a USB C charging case, three sets of earbud tips, three sets of earbud wing tips, and a charging cord. You’ll need to download a specific app to get the most out of the earbuds, which makes sense. On my iPhone the app was easy and intuitive to use. It’s your companion to tweaking the sound/NC profiles, finding the right combo of fit, and installing firmware updates.
Once you’ve gone through the tip installation process and first firmware update, your earbuds will be ready to use.
The biggest difference between these and the original QC earbuds is the design and form factor. The II’s are vastly smaller, and while not quite as tiny as Airpods, these buds are a good size, and when fit in your ear correctly leave a sleek profile.
This is good because once you put them in you’ll realize why Bose is still heralded as a great sound performer in the industry. There’s something just pleasing about the sound profile it employs; power, depth, details.
The high end range could feature some clarity, but you have some options to tweak the EQ as you see fit. This helped me find a good balance for my preferences.
Out of the box, though, these have a vastly better sound profile that I assume most would prefer to something like the Airpods which is a bit dull and hollow in comparison.
Of course, these are a premium noise cancellation earbud, so hopefully the NC works well, right?
Good news: it’s fantastic. This is the best NC earbud I’ve ever used. I love the different NC modes that you can swap between, and setting up custom modes for different uses is a nice perk that I didn’t know I wanted. Using the workout profile and tweaking the NC meter to strike a good balance was perfect.
As for the fit and comfort, I’ve taken my QuietComfort II’s with me on multiple runs and walks, sat in the office, and also just used them to watch movies when everyone in my house is asleep, and I’m here to tell you they’re very comfortable; in some ways, almost so comfortable you think they’ll fall out. But, to my surprise, they never did, and still haven’t.
The only real con I see with them is the ease of use between a few devices. Having to manually go in and select them is something I sort of forgot about when using Airpods Pros previously.
That said, I do wish the battery life was a bit better too, but again is on par, seemingly, with its rivals.
Overall, I’d 100% recommend these to anyone looking for a premium NC earbud.

A great option for those with kids and pets
on June 29, 2022
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
I believe the Tineco S5 Extreme is an essential household appliance for anyone with kids, pets, or both.
It’s a good-looking device, has a fantastic battery life, a useable app function, sweeps and cleans the floors very well, and is easy to maintain thanks to the auto-cleaning mode and fully washable bins.
When you unbox the Tineco S5, you’ll have a few things to put together, which isn’t too bad. The bonus part though is you’ll get three brushheads and two filters out of the gate, which makes it easy to use daily.
The only real maintenance that you need to keep up with is running the auto cleaning mode, which automatically cleans your brushhead after use. Then, you’ll want to rinse out the dirty water bin and filter to keep those clean. If you don’t, or forget to empty the dirty water bin after a use, it will start to smell. Emptying is easy, but just make sure you do it!
Now, as far as using the appliance, it’s pretty straightforward: there are three modes, auto, suction, and max. Auto mode works decent, as it auto-detects areas of your floor that needs more water and power to clean. I prefer to just clean my floors with max mode, though, as it really seems to pick up more than the auto mode does. Suction mode is designed to work to quickly clean up spills of any liquid. This mode also was good, but not great. It works but was a little clunky to use at first. The biggest thing is that you’ll need a fully clean water bin and brushhead to really make use of it, which means on-the-fly spills may not be as cut and dry to pick up.
You’ll also find that all this cleaning, even in max mode, is pretty light on the battery life. My main areas of cleaning is my kitchen and dining. These two spots are about 400 sq. ft., and one run on only max mode will use about 20% of the battery. It’s hard to imagine a house big enough to completely drain the battery in one use. Once you’re done, plopping it back onto the charging dock will get it charged in about two-three hours from fully depleted.
The only real cons are that the stand is a bit cumbersome and the auto mode isn’t perfect. The stand is hard to figure out how else you might combine the charger and auto cleaning mode in one, so I can’t fault Tineco too much. As for auto mode, it works as it should; sometimes, though, I just wished more water would come out more frequently like you see in the Max mode by default. I also haven’t tried it, but it would be nice to know if there were at least a few other cleaning solutions recommended to use, third-party-wise.
Overall, this is a great product that actually cleans and does what is advertised.

Great barware for the late risers or parents alike
on June 17, 2022
Posted by: DarthNeyehilus
This is a great piece of barware for any serious coffee drinker; or parent.
I’d always been fascinated with the Ember mugs. The 6oz is a perfect size for me, so was happy to get the chance to try it out.
Unboxing the mug felt like an Apple product: not a lot of fluff included, just the cup, charging base, and cord included. Setup was also easy: just plug in the cord, plug into the charging base, and place the cup on said base. You download the app which provides you with data on your cup. You can also change the cup's LED light color, and have it send you notifications once your cup needs charged so you don't forget.
You’re supposed to fully charge the cup prior to the first use, which I did.
After it was charged, I decided to stress test it three times. One with normal drip coffee at the hottest temp, one with drip coffee at the lowest temp, and one with a latte-style drink at a neutral temperature.
Overall, I was happy with the results. Under normal circumstances (think 130-135 degrees Fahrenheit), the Ember will keep your coffee warm for about 1:15. But the difference isn’t just keeping it warm and then drinking it once cooled; it’s the constant temperature aspect that is the selling point, which it delivers on. At the lowest temperature, you can stretch the battery life to 2 hours.
On top of that, you can charge your mug with coffee in it to keep your beverage warm longer.
The only con I can think of is having to handwash the cup after each use. Of course, that’s really not that big of a deal-breaker. Plus, when using a milk-based beverage in the Ember, you’ll find the foam dissipates after 20ish minutes of sitting in a warm cup.
This happens during normal circumstances at a coffee shop, so I wasn’t surprised, but it is something to note.
Overall, there’s nothing much to fault here. Solid construction, easy to use app, dependable performance, and above all else keeps coffee warm. What else could you ask for?

Good Asus pre-built with some caveats

This desktop is a great foray into desktop gaming/multimedia use if you have a need for it. There are a few things to note from the build, but for most, it’s a great out-of-the-box experience. For those with a bit more experience with desktops or pre-builts, a few modifications can create the best possible scenario with it.
Let’s start with the unboxing. The desktop is presented with a sleek, Strix branded box. Unboxing you’ll find the power cable, keyboard, mouse, PC manual, and extra display cables. All standard fare.
Ironically, while the box is branded Strix, not all of the Asus components used are of the Strix (highest-end components) brand. Namely, the GPU. We’ll touch on this later, though.
Once unboxed and plugged in you’ll be greeted with some lighting effects upon startup. The start-up is quick thanks to the SSD involved.
Speaking of components, I don’t need to list out the components but in reality, this PC is probably one of the beefier pre-builts out there. You know what you’re buying here: top of the line, unlocked intel i7 processor, decent storage space, standard DDR4 Micron 3200mhz RAM, and the nice Asus TUF 3080 10GB to round it out. The one I received was the LHR model for those interested.
That all said, you’d expect performance to be up there, and it is. Nothing it really can’t handle, but you probably already know that. The i7-12700KF is a 12-core (8 physical) beast that doesn’t kill you on power either.
This 3080 may only have 10GB memory but it’s new GDDR6x which does boost its performance. These TUF GPU don’t really look anything special; their bigger sister Strix variants get the huge cooling upgrade and sleek metal look. But, they perform when it counts, and I consistently believe that the 3080 is the best option for most gamers looking for great 1440p performance, and good 4K performance.
Here are the biggest cons I noted from my time with the desktop:
Noise and cooling performance. There are two fans that cool this beefy machine. That’s it. You’ll probably want to install another one and/or a better AIO cooling solution in general.
To do that, though, you’ll have to remove the redundant GPU bracket that was sort of a pain to do. It’s unnecessary, and I’m not sure why Asus did that.
If you don’t the cooling is okay at best, but will be loud in doing so. I don’t believe the fans included are anything super quality-related, so I’d recommend, at minimum, getting some better ones in there ASAP.
Also, oddly enough the GPU wasn’t fully recognized by GPUZ, and featured some weird white labels on the top, which makes it feel/look a bit cheaper. Maybe this is a brand new model created by Asus for its new builds but still noted nonetheless.
The case is also a little bleak, and there are weird screwing holes that make it hard to dismantle things if needed/wanted. I believe you could take all the guts of the machine, though, and throw them in a new case if wanted. Nothing is weirdly proprietary, thankfully, so that’s a plus.
So, that all said, I would recommend this PC as it has everything needed to get the grand performance right out of the box, without needing to worry about upgrading instantly or even in two-three years. There are a few tweaks you could make that would be better, but it’s nothing needed.

Screen is matte with Anti-Glare coating. My battery, after 6 days of use and use most of the time, averaged 3hr 5min when doing normal things. Hope this helps.
