Great health conscious watch
on October 21, 2020
Posted by: cw77

Pros:
+Battery life - after over two weeks, it’s only down to 46%
+Classy look to it. Not obnoxious like some newer watches.
+Uses standard size 18mm watch band, so you can change it easily
+New setting that will ‘wake up’ the digital display when you lift your wrist up. Although it doesn’t disable this feature during sleep hours, it'll activate whenever you move around.
+The rotating crown (not the bezel) makes it a little easier to move through the functions on the watch
+You can assign a crown long-press shortcut to quickly activate one of three functions: ECG, Oxygen Saturation, or Workout. Wish you could choose from any of the functions, such as a timer or alarm, but this is a start. Maybe they’ll expand the options in future updates.
+It paired quickly and easily with the Withings Health Mate app
+Simple to set up and use. Doesn’t require a degree in software engineering to figure out how to use it.
+Quick and easy to take ECG or O2 reading. You just start the function, put your index finger and thumb on the bezel, and sit still for about 30 seconds.
+Health Mate app is easy to navigate and focuses on health, without a bunch of bloat
+If you have multiple Withings watches, the Health Mate app seamlessly gathers data from whichever watch you happen to wear that day.
Cons:
-The included watch band is quite small.
-Can’t fully customize the long-press shortcut
-Uses a different charging base than my Withings Steel HR
-Lengthy notifications (text/calendar reminders, etc…) can be cumbersome to read
-Can’t mark a text as read
Overall, this is a great watch for anyone that just wants to get a better handle on their health. I wouldn’t say this is the perfect watch for a fitness enthusiast, but for the average Joe/Jane that wants to be more in tune with their health, this is a great solution.

Decent hardware, Poor software/firmware
on October 19, 2020
Posted by: cw77
from Papillion, NE
The only mounting option is adhesive; no temporary/removable option such as a suction cup. So, not only can you not move it between multiple vehicles, but you also get one (ok, two if you count the spare adhesive pad they supply) shot at mounting the camera in the perfect spot. Realize you can’t see the display because you put it behind the mirror? Too bad.
Discover that you can’t fully lower your sun visor because it hits the camera? Sorry.
Big oversight on their part, imo.
The mounting bracket will only allow for vertical adjustments to the camera once mounted. There is no way to make lateral adjustments, so sure hope you aim it correctly when you mount it. Remember, there’s no suction cup option, so make sure you get it right the first time.
The 12v socket is good & bad. I don’t like that the power cord for the camera is part of the socket, rather than a USB end that could easily be replaced if needed. However, the 12v socket does have an open USB port, so you could still plug other things in. Not sure how much power it supplies though.
It does include a micro-SD card, so the box does include everything you need. Some other dashcams require you to purchase the storage separately. Nice little win there.
Getting the app to connect to the camera’s wifi, so you can view recordings or update firmware, was quite the chore. Subsequent attempts had a 50/50 shot (at best) at actually connecting. Even then, I never did get the app to show live view, or the map when playing clips back. Numerous other quirks, like not being able to close the app, settings changes sometimes taking, and speed unit (MPH/kMPH) is the reverse of what the camera actually displays, show that the app is only half-baked.
Video quality (when it actually records…) is acceptable. When I connected the camera to my computer to view the clips, I was extremely disappointed to discover that half of my drives for the day hadn’t even been recorded. What good is a dashcam if you have little confidence that it’s actually going to record your drive?
Also, the display doesn’t turn off (you can set it to a “screensaver” that shows date/time and speed) unless you use the voice command to turn it off. I don’t like to drive with the display on, especially at night. I shouldn’t have to tell the screen to turn off every time I drive my truck. They need an option to automatically turn the display off after a minute or two. Although, considering my observation above, maybe leaving the screen on all the time would be a good in this particular case...
Overall, I can’t say I’d recommend the camera in its current state. That said, it is possible that future firmware & app updates could resolve several of these shortcomings, but this camera definitely isn’t ready for primetime yet. I’d pass until it’s been out for several more months, and even then, I wouldn’t buy unless you research firmware release notes. IF they actually publish them.

Amazing comfort and noise cancellation!
on September 30, 2020
Posted by: cw77
from Papillion, NE
Misc observations
-Was able to get four and a half hours on a single charge, and that was using noise cancelling the entire time. Didn’t get a chance to test, but I have to wonder if turning noise cancelling off would extend the battery life even further.
-Earbud batteries had fully recharged in about 30 minutes or so.
Pros
+Noise canceling levels are very nice. Highest level pretty well blocks out all the typical office noise. I tried them out in a noisy server room also, and they easily blocked out 90-95% of the fan noise! You can also simply double tap the left ear bud to change between your 3 (customizable) levels of noise cancelation. Lower levels effectively let enough noise in that you can hear conversations near you.
+Case displays its battery level when you open or close the lid.
+Case doubles as a portable power pack to recharge your earbuds when you’re away from AC. I can’t confirm that you get two full recharges, but the battery level was still showing more than half after a single recharge.
+Case can be charged via USB-C or wirelessly if you have a Qi compatible charger.
+IPX4 rated, so you don’t have to worry about wearing them in rain or snow.
+Sound quality was impressive, as it usually is with Bose.
+Very comfortable. Easily wear for hours at a time with no discomfort.
Cons
-Can’t adjust EQ settings. Might not be a big deal, as they already sound pretty good, but many people prefer a bit more control over their EQ settings
-Can’t adjust the volume using the earbuds. Of course you can adjust it using your phone, but I typically have my phone in my pocket when I listen, so it would be easier if I could adjust the volume using the earbuds. Not a dealbreaker, but it is an annoyance to me.
-Don’t think there’s a way to mute the mic when you’re on a phone call. Unless I just missed it, I think this is a big oversight.
Overall, these are great earbuds, and are now my go-to. Might pay a bit of a premium for Bose, but these are absolutely worth it!

Unimpressive as an air fryer - just okay otherwise
on September 20, 2020
Posted by: cw77
from Papillion, NE
Initial thoughts..
- No basket to use when air frying. They want you to use the multi-purpose rack.
- Air Crisping/Frying lid is not hinged, so if you want to shake/redistribute/remove foods, you have to take the lid off and set it down somewhere else.
-- They do give you a little metal stand to put it on, but how long before that becomes in the way and/or lost.
-- Also have to align pins every time you put the lid back on.
- Will have to have somewhere to store whatever lid you’re not using.
- Unappealing aesthetic sitting on the counter if you leave the crisping lid on.
-- Pressure cooker lid is a bit more appealing, but the whole unit is still quite tall.
- Doesn’t have an ‘off’ mode; if it’s plugged in, there will be lights on the display.
Experiences
- Pressure cooker
-- Did very well. Simply loaded up the non-stick pot with cubed pork loin, added some liquid, and put the lid on. Then simply press the Meat button & walk away. Once the liquid starts to boil & build pressure, the timer starts counting down. When it’s done, the unit automatically goes into a Keep Warm mode.
- Air Fryer - French Fries
-- Unimpressed. The instructions have you use the multi-purpose rack, which makes it difficult to redistribute the food to get even crisping. Alternatively, you can just dump fries in the pot, but then you don’t get very much air circulation, so the fries still don’t crisp up very evenly.
-- Some fries would fall off the rack, and end up in the bottom of the pot.
-- If you do use the rack, it’s very awkward to get the fries out of the unit & on to a plate for serving.
-- Can’t adjust the temperature much; either high or low.
- Slow Cooker
-- Did what it’s supposed to do. But it’s kinda hard to screw up a slow cooker.
At the end of the day, if your primary use will be as an air fryer, I’d definitely look elsewhere. If you think you’ll typically use it as a pressure cooker and/or slow cooker, with only occasional use as an air fryer, then you might be satisfied with it. However, I believe there are better choices out there if you’re looking for a multi-cooker.

Powerful & great for movies!
on July 6, 2020
Posted by: cw77
from Papillion, NE
This soundbar just took our TV & movie watching to a whole new level. Apparently I had no idea how underpowered our prior soundbar was. This one totally blows it out of the water. And the addition of the surround speakers has made movies so much better. The subwoofer has plenty of power to give you a bit of the movie theater experience.
-Start to finish, setup took about 60 minutes. The included instructions (you actually get more than just a poster of diagrams) were fairly clear, and easy to follow.
-Both satellite speakers are hardwired into a single, wireless receiver box. So, although you do have a couple of speaker wires to deal with, at least you don’t have to worry about running wires from the front of the room to the back.
-Using my Samsung phone to connect the soundbar to wifi took only 3 taps, no passwords or pairing codes.
-The soundbar wouldn’t update using the Smartthings app, so I had to manually download the update & apply it via USB. Hopefully just a temporary glitch.
-Not all settings can be altered via the app, some settings can only be changed via the app.
-Has a handful of sound profiles: Standard, Surround, Adaptive, and Game Pro. It would be nice if you could configure separate music and TV/Movie profiles, as some don’t care for surround sound when listening to music.
-Works seamlessly with Spotify connect.
-If you have a Samsung phone, it has this cool feature where you can just tap your phone on the soundbar, and it’ll transfer what you’re listening to on your phone over to the soundbar.
-High frequencies were extremely smooth, and not harsh. Low frequencies were fairly tight/controlled but may be overpowering for some out of the box (easily corrected with eq.)

A great looking and performing keyboard
on June 23, 2020
Posted by: cw77

This keyboard is extremely well built and is a great companion for gamers, especially couch gamers. The wireless seemed flawless until about 25 feet away, perfect if you plan on using this keyboard for both a desktop and couch setup. The LightSync feature of tying the lights to in-game events didn’t work in a few titles for me but was neat when it worked. When the keyboard goes into sleep mode, it wakes up with almost no delay.
My only complaints of this keyboard were the lack of USB-C (this should be mandatory for any premium product in 2020), offline profiles are extremely limited in functionality on this keyboard, and I didn’t find the G Hub software very intuitive to use. There is definitely an adjustment period that comes with low profile; I ended up preferring it for both typing and gaming.

Great sound, but pricey
on June 4, 2020
Posted by: cw77

One of the more unique aspects of this speaker is that it’s also a wireless phone charger. Keeps your phone at a convenient angle, in a nicely padded charging cradle. Unlike some wireless chargers, this one wasn’t overly picky about phone placement. My Note 8 and a Galaxy S8 had no trouble charging from just about anywhere in the cradle.
A very elegant, solidly built speaker, that seemed to blend in no matter which room I placed it in. It’s pleasantly different from some of the other tech-looking cylindrical speakers that are out there. Heavy enough that you won’t feel like the slightest bump is going to knock it off the table.
Support for Google Assistant lets you easily play music from most streaming services. LIstening to music, without needing to pair to a phone via bluetooth, was one of the main reasons for getting this speaker. We previously had a Bluetooth speaker in our sunroom, which my wife and I would constantly have to re-pair with, depending on which of us was in the room. Putting a Google Assistant enabled speaker in there solves that problem, and as a bonus, the sound is MUCH better!
Speaking of Bluetooth, you can also pair to it via Bluetooth if you want. Some might find this useful if you want to watch something on your phone/tablet (my son does this frequently), but want a bit more punch for the audio. There is a very slight audio delay when doing that, but it’s very tolerable & some won’t even notice it.
The sound quality is better than any smart speaker I’ve ever listened to. This thing puts out a level, and quality, of sound that belies its size. Sound quality doesn’t seem to degrade much as you increase the volume.
Overall, a very nice speaker, albeit with a price to match. If you want something elegant, with good sound, and have money burning a hole in your pocket, this would be a solid choice. If you just some background music for your home office, and aren’t overly concerned with sound quality, you’d be better off finding something cheaper.

Great battery life, but otherwise disappointing…
on June 3, 2020
Posted by: cw77
from Papillion, NE
I’ve been pretty happy with prior Sony audio products, but I have to admit I’m a little disappointed in these headphones. I know these aren’t their flagship headphones, but I still expected better.
The good…
-Battery life is amazing! I’ve got several hours of listening time, and they still announce that they’re fully charged when I turn them on. Sony claims 30 hours, and that’s probably achievable, which isn’t surprising based on experience with other Sony products.
-The sound is decent. Not stellar, but definitely better than average.
-Noise cancelling is also pretty good. I spent several hours in a server room, and these headphones had no problem cancelling out the endless drone of server fans. That said, the ‘Ambient’ setting isn’t very selective about what it passes through, and is only marginally better than turning the NC off.
The not so good…
-After an hour or two, they can become quite uncomfortable. There is very little padding inside the ear cup, and the depth is somewhat shallow. It didn’t take long before my ears began to hurt. It felt like the inside of the cup was pressing against my ear.
-The material they used to cover the cushioning around the outside edge of the ear cup doesn’t breathe well at all, and the area around your ears will probably begin to perspire.
-They don’t work with the Sony app, so you can’t adjust any settings.
-They do not come with a carry case; not even a cheap nylon pouch.
-The usb charging port is a little recessed, so you may run into issues if you need to charge them with a usb cable other than the one that’s included.
-Did I mention they get uncomfortable after an hour or two??
Honestly, for this price, I expected better. If you truly need noise cancelling headphones, I’d pass on these, and spend a little extra. If you don’t need noise cancelling, you could probably spend a little less, and get something considerably more comfortable.

Must have for dog owners!

Must have for dog owners!
This is an amazing vac for dog owners. We have a Great Pyrenees, with a long white coat, who sheds like you wouldn’t believe. We probably vacuum the main living area every other day just to keep up with his shedding. With every other vac we’ve had, about once a week or so, I’d have to take the brush roller apart & cut all the hair off that had wrapped itself around the roller. After having this vac for close to two weeks, I’ve not had to cut hair off the roller once. The hair simply doesn’t get stuck on the brush roller.
Other things I liked:
It comes WITH a wallmount, unlike our prior cordless stick vac, which only offered it as an additional purchase. In addition, the wall mount will also store the accessories. Keeps everything nice & tidy. The mount even has a small bubble level built in to aid mounting, which is a nice touch.
The LED lights on the main roller head do a great job at illuminating all the hair on the floor. Almost too good, as it reminds me that this dog sheds everywhere… There’s also an LED light on the crevice tool, which really helps when trying to get the dark corners or behind furniture.
Does a really nice job of picking up dirt/hair on hardwood floors. We’ve had other vacs that seemed to fling as much dirt with the brush roller as what they picked up.
Battery is strong enough to easily let me finish the entire upstairs, which is roughly 1100 sq ft.
Plan on emptying the dirt cup often, as it seems rather small to me.
I also didn’t care for the buttons, as there’s little tactile feedback. Feels more like touching an icon on your phone than something on a vacuum.
All things considered though, this is a great vacuum. Highly recommended for pet owners.

Good starter, if you catch a sale
on November 28, 2019
Posted by: cw77
from Papillion, NE
I have to admit that my first impression was that it had a somewhat ‘cheap’ feel to it, but after wearing it for a few days, I can’t say that I still feel that way. I mean, it still feels like a plastic watch, but maybe I’ve just gotten used to it. It’s light, comfortable, and a decent size. By decent size, I mean it doesn’t feel/look like you’re trying to wear a wall clock on your wrist… Small enough that it doesn’t look obtrusive on smaller wrists, yet big enough that a male shouldn’t feel like he’s wearing a watch designed for a female.
It comes with a proprietary charging base, but does not include a power supply, which I just find annoying. The design of the base makes it easy to set the watch on it, as you don’t have to orient the watch in any particular way, which you’d think is nice. The base is small, about the size of four quarters stacked up, but it’s very light, and may not want to stay where you put it. I did feel that the charger was somewhat iffy as to whether or not it was making a good connection. On more than one occasion, I’d set the watch on the base & walked away, only to discover later that it hadn’t really made a good connection, so it didn’t charge up.
Performance is lackluster, and it just seems a bit laggy to me. It does have NFC, so it’ll support Google Pay, but it seemed to me like you had to get the watch in just the right spot on the terminal for it to work; nowhere near as forgiving as my phone. Not that I’d expect (or want) it to work from a foot away, but it felt like I had to contort my arm & practically move my wrist around the entire surface of the terminal before it took. That said, my other smartwatches have not had NFC, so I don’t have anything to compare the MKGO to.
One thing I do like is that it has two configurable hardware buttons. If there’s a particular app that you go to frequently, you can just assign it to one of the buttons. Nice touch.
Battery life is acceptable, or at least on par with my other smartwatches. I’ve grown accustomed to the expectation that I’ll have to charge daily, and this watch isn’t an exception. With extremely limited use, you MIGHT be able to get two days, but I doubt it. It does charge relatively quickly, so you may be able to wear it overnight (perhaps to use for sleep tracking) and then let it charge while you’re getting ready for your day.
Overall, not a bad watch. If you can catch it on sale, it’s a keeper, but I don’t think it’s worth the full $300 retail.

Must I use the pods for single cup?

No, it also comes with a reuseable pod, which will allow you to use regular ground coffee.

The choice is yours. Whether you prefer making single cups of coffee with *K-Cup pods or full-sized carafes from coffee grounds, the nutribullet Brew Choice Pod + Carafe has the goods to brew both. Just insert your *K-Cup pod or filter, and the machine’s Brew Sense Technology will automatically adjust its display to match, giving you options to brew a 6, 8, or 10oz cup of *K-Cup coffee, or a 6, 9, or 12-cup carafe.

If using an actual K cup instead of the reusable, will it fit a K Cup from Keurig? or is it a special size where you have to use an exact brand?

Standard k-cups (Keurig & non-Keurig brands) work just fine. However, it will NOT accept the carafe sized k-cups.

Clean your carpets efficiently with this iRobot Roomba vacuum. It lets you set a schedule for automated vacuuming, and the sensors help it navigate under furniture and around objects on the floor for a more thorough cleaning job. This iRobot Roomba vacuum has internal brushes, agitators and suction to handle debris and pet hair.

Does anyone who owns this model find that it is sort of loud?? The part that is the loudest is not the vacuum part but the part that makes it move I guess. Just wondering if anyone else found it loud or is there something wrong with mine?

I'd agree that it's fairly loud. Definitely louder than a competitors robot vac that I have.
