Excellent wireless VR experience
on May 23, 2019
Posted by: NateN
from Cincinnati, OH
For those that may not want to read the full review, I will sum it up by saying this is a great stand-alone VR unit! If you are looking to get into VR, I highly recommend the Quest. It is completely wireless, extremely immersive and just great fun for all to play.
The initial setup, using a combination of my phone and the Quest, took about 10 minutes and seemed to need a Facebook login, which I rarely use and wish it wasn’t required. During the setup, you create a ‘guardian’ boundary by virtually drawing a square on the ground to safely and freely move within it to avoid any obstructions. The best part of having a boundary is when you get close to the edges of your outline, you escape the VR world and can see your real-life surroundings in a black/white world. There is also a helpful walkthrough of sorts to get you acclimated to the VR world for those that are new to this type of entertainment.
Now onto the actual VR gaming experience. There are plenty of games/apps/experiences to choose from at launch. You almost have enough things to do without spending any money since there are a handful of demos, YouTubeVR, Netflix and other interactive apps to try. You can download these items either within the VR itself or through your phone on the Oculus app. Speaking of the app, you can set it up to cast/stream your VR view directly to your phone so others can see what you are seeing. One step more, I was able to cast my phone to my LG TV and share my VR view from there.
As I mentioned in the beginning, I feel the Oculus Quest delivers on a great VR experience. I am very satisfied.

Top up your phone's battery with this Belkin wireless charging pad. Qi certification ensures compatibility with a large variety of devices, while the 10W transmission charges select phone models nearly twice as quickly. This Belkin wireless charging pad features a silicone grip to quickly stabilize mounted devices and an LED light that indicates improper charging conditions.

Not a necessity

I got this to use with my wife’s iPhone XR. It says it supports fast charging, but a wired connection is usually a better option to quickly charge a phone. I honestly am not sure what the big deal is with wireless charging since the charging dock must be wired to an outlet anyway. It only takes an extra second to plug in the phone versus setting it on the charging pad. The positive is that it quickly charged her phone, even with a case on it. However, we had to remove her popsocket because the charger wouldn’t recognize the phone with it on. It has to do with the extra thickness and distance of the phone from the charging pad. Flipping the phone over to lay the screen onto the charging pad did not work, however. So basically, this is a good wireless charger if your case is under 3mm thick and you are not using any accessories, such as a popsocket. I only recommend it to those that feel wireless charging is the best option for their situation.

Polished, professional Full HD video calls. The C920S HD Webcam delivers remarkably crisp, clear and detailed images in vibrant colors. HD autofocus and light correction adjust to provide consistently high definition, and the dual mics on either side of the lens capture natural sound. The privacy shutter puts you in control of what you show.

Decent webcam for streaming
on April 8, 2019

This webcam seems to have been around for many years. I am not sure what is exactly new with this 920S model versus the 920. I realized I actually already owned a 920 version and when I compared them, they seemed to be exact. Overall, the camera works well. However, the microphone does not record sound/voices as loudly as I would like. There is a plastic shutter that you can use to place over the cam for privacy. I also downloaded the camera software called Logitech Capture from their website. It allows you to tweak elements of the cam. Overall, I suppose the saying applies “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

Top of the Line Baby Monitor
on March 3, 2019
Posted by: NateN
from Cincinnati, OH
We have a 1 month old baby and adding the Nanit Plus to our household provides a great benefit to monitoring and tracking him. The initial setup is easy with step-by-step directions. I have been using it for a few days now and I love it. We have not mounted the monitor to the wall yet since our baby will not be sleeping in his bedroom crib until about 6 months. Instead, we have been able to move it from room to room and prop it up securely at the end of the bassinet or crib.
I have an android phone and my wife has an iPhone. There was no issue using the software to view and monitor the cam from either phone. Plus, we can both view it at the same time with no issue. I love the feature that allowed me to monitor the crib from my phone while I was out of the house running errands or at work. The camera provides HD quality so you don’t miss a thing. You can pinch to zoom in, remotely talk or play sounds, and track sleep history all from the app. Even with the phone screen off, you can still listen to any activity or set up pop-up notifications based on baby movement or sound alerts.
As of this review, 1 year of the Insights program is included free. This is an optional paid feature that shows the sleep tracking history and monitoring statistics. You can use the Nanit without having the subscription, but it is an adding benefit to this camera.
Overall, I am impressed by the quality of the camera and software. There are many features that you can tweak to suit your needs with regards to the notification pop-ups or sound output. I would recommend this for anyone that wants peace of mind when their baby is put down to sleep or just daily monitoring when you have a busy lifestyle and can’t always hover over your babies’ crib 24/7.

Good value fitness earbuds
on December 3, 2018

I have been trying out these earbuds for the past week and they are not bad for the price. I like that it has several different ear tip sizes to find the right fit for you. However, I can’t seem to wear any for a long period of time before it becomes uncomfortable. I still prefer the plastic ‘apple earpod’ style of in-ear headphones versus soft tips, which I wish more companies would adopt. I do like that these are waterproof so they can easily handle sweat or rain and can be washed afterward. Overall, the sound is fine for my needs (Pandora or Howard Stern talk radio) and you can’t beat the price for fitness Bluetooth earbuds with all of the features included.

Average compact oven
on October 27, 2018

This is a decent compact oven/toaster with multiple cooking features. The DeLonghi name makes it a bit more of a premium brand which shows in the pricing, but the cooking quality is on par with other standard brands. It only took about 4 minutes to preheat to 450 degrees and the front glass does not get hot, which is good for families with little kids that might roam the kitchen. I usually cook on tin foil (to save cleanup) and my frozen sausages cook evenly. However, I once forgot the tin foil and cooked at the same temp/time but the bottom of the sausage patties were severely burnt when cooked on the included pan.
Some things I dislike: there was a slight humming sound, not only during cooking but also after it had finished running for a few minutes. I also wish I could set the default bake time/temp when turned on. I cook the same items every morning at ‘bake 7 minutes for 450 degrees’. My old (and cheaper) compact oven kept the previously used settings in memory which made it convenient. With the Delonghi, I have to fiddle with the dial since it is has a preset default of 1 hour and 360 degrees.

Ninja Foodi's TenderCrisp pressure cooker allows you to achieve all the quick cooking and tenderizing wonders that you love about pressure cookers. The Foodi's Crisping Lid allows you to air fry, bake/roast, and broil. That means you can give your tender, juicy pressure-cooked meals a golden, crispy finish. The secret is TenderCrisp Technology, which produces the perfect combination of heat, fan velocity, and air circulation to give your food even crisping from top to bottom.

Great multi-purpose cooker
on October 8, 2018

Let’s get straight to the point. I am not going to rehash all its features that you can read in the description. Instead, I will tell you how great this cooker is as both a pressure cooker and air fryer. I used it to pressure cook a roast and it came out tasting great with no issues. The next day, I used it to air fry my frozen chicken fingers and crinkled fries. Again, the food came out looking and tasting perfect. This is a great multi-purpose cooker that can free up space on your kitchen counter and cook a variety of things. I recommend it.

Hair pickup with little maintenance
on October 8, 2018
Posted by: NateN
from Cincinnati, OH
The feature that sold me is definitely the tagline that says ‘actively removes hair wrap’ on the brush roll. I previously had a ‘pet’ vacuum, but hair would constantly build-up on the roller and I had to manually remove the roller to cut/remove long hairs. I do not have a dog or cat in the house, but I do have a wife and daughter with long hair that seems to constantly get caught in vacuums. After running through the house with this Shark, I was expecting a lot of hair build-up. I was surprised that there was literally none on the roller. I don’t know if this is a big ticket on vacuums these days since I am not a ‘vacuum connoisseur’, but I love the feature. In addition, I like the ability to easily switch between carpet and hardwood (I have a mix of both in the house). On the downside it is heavy and can be cumbersome while using it around the house, especially if you detach it from the base to carry.
Overall, it is a great vacuum with a lot of power that I do recommend to anyone.

Compact multitasking PC with mild gaming ability
on July 21, 2018
Posted by: NateN
from Cincinnati, OH
Without listing all the specs and technical features (since it's in the description), I am happy with the ability of this HP for my needs. Basically, its a powerful processing system that is great for multitasking whether in business or leisure. Also, the integrated Vega graphics card is good for light to mid-level gaming. I did test it with the currently poplular Fortnite and had to play it on medium with still some hiccups in frame-rate. However, it's not necessarily considered a gaming machine but it should be able to handle average gaming. I noticed it had McAfee LiveSafe pre-installed that I immediately uninstalled since I have always had bad experiences with it slowing down my computers. Instead, I let Microsoft Defender protect the HP.
With regards to the physical features, I like the offering of a USB-C along with an SD card reader. Plus, there is a headphone jack on the front which is more convenient than only having it on the rear. I also like the included DVD/RW drive as it seems most PCs are doing away with this feature since it is starting to become outdated, but it is still a nice option to have. Finally, it is pretty compact in size (about 13 inches tall and 7 inches wide) which is a great feature when you have limited shelf/desk space.
Overall, I would recommend this HP for your standard multitasking and processing needs but not for high-end gaming.

Great for basement use
on July 10, 2018
Posted by: NateN
from Cincinnati, OH
I chose to get this antenna because I have tried many other options to get a good signal for my basement HDTV. For reference, the basement is partially underground with thick concrete walls and glass block windows. Previously, both the indoor rabbit ear and 'flat' style antennas that I had attempted to use would not get a full range of channels that I liked to watch. Also, some channels would go in and out depending on any human movement in the room.
Although this antenna can be mounted on the outside wall or roof, I wanted to see how it works by keeping it indoors and sitting on the glass block window sill. The antenna is pretty large compared to those I have owned before so it can be an eyesore if kept inside. Fortunately, I have curtains over the window so I can hide the antenna behind them.
Once I connected the cable and did a channel scan, it found about 40 channels. With the other antennas, I would get about 20+ but many times the main ones (ABC, NBC, CBS) would go out after a few days and I would have to re-position the antenna and try again. So far, I am happy with the ANTOP for its indoor use. I assume I might get even more channels or have a better connection overall if I placed it outdoors. Overall, I would recommend it for those having trouble getting a good signal in a basement.

I have tile and carpet throughout home. Will it mop tile then switch to vacuum carpet? Or do I have to tell it what to do? .

It has two swappable canisters. One to dry vac the whole home. The other to mop only the hard floors. It will self-detect when to avoid carpets.

Drive safely with this Cobra super HD dash cam. This Cobra super HD dash cam provides iRadar route tracking and live police alerts when connected to the iRadar app, so you never miss a thing.

How long does the cobra dash cam hold the footage does it erase it over how can you look back a week to see the footage

I use a 32GB micro SD card and at the highest quality setting it recorded for about 2.5-3 hours with 10 minute intervals. After the card gets filled up, it will overwrite the oldest 10 minute clips.

The sound comes from speakers built into the headset or you can plug in headphones also. The sound right out of the headset gives you virtual 360 sound, which is pretty cool.
