After testing all of its features during the past several days, I would highly recommend this budget-friendly 4K TV. Worth noting, I have multiple TVs with various versions of Roku attached via HDMI and was hesitant to try a TV that has a built in streaming service other than my Roku experience. However, I am very pleased with the Fire TV software within the Toshiba.
Seeing as I am new to Fire TV, those reading this may already be familiar with how it works. I like how all the apps and over-the-air TV are shown on the home screen without having to change inputs. In addition to videos and live TV, there is also a large selection of games that can be downloaded and played via a connected Bluetooth device, which I figure I could use an Xbox One controller. However, I did find it annoying that the over-the-air channels were listed in the guide in alphabetical order according to network name (ABC, CBS, NBC, etc) instead of the channel number that I am used to for my local area. It would be nice to see an update that allowed the user to decide if it should be sorted by network name or channel number. Also, the remote took some getting used to. There are no channel up/down buttons and the 4 'sponsored' buttons are preset to Prime Video, HBO, Netflix and Playstation Vue. It would be nice if you could customize those to different channels/apps. Also, a backlit remote would have been a nice touch since I like to watch TV in a dimmed room.
On to the actual TV review. It is listed as 4K with HDR but nowhere on the packaging does it say it has HDR capability and there are no settings within the software that mention it either. Also, it is about 3.7 inches thick and I was hoping for something quite a bit thinner to make it look sleeker to not stick out as much since I have it wall-mounted. On a positive, I know it is listed as 10W audio, but I am personally pleased with the sound from the Onkyo speakers. Also, even though the video/display preference settings are minimal, there are still enough options to tweak the picture to your liking and the quality of the video is excellent.
To be fair, most of my nitpicking has to do with the software and not the actual Toshiba TV and its good quality. There is always the possibility that future Fire TV updates will improve the user-experience.
Overall, there are more positive features than negative that I would recommend it to others looking for a 4K TV with built-in streaming services.

After playing around with this Acer laptop, there are many positives along with a few negatives. Upon turning on the computer for the first time, you are guided through a couple questions that you can simply answer via voice using Cortana. I don’t know if this is now the norm with Windows 10 system setups, but it was welcoming and quick. This laptop has hard drive versus the comparable Acer model sporting solid state drive (SSD). A computer with a solid state drive usually boots up and opens applications quicker than those with a hard drive. For reference, I clocked the boot-up at about 40 seconds, which isn’t too bad but may slow down over time as more applications that initialize at start-up are installed. However, this Acer has 1T of storage compared to just 256GB on the Acer with the SSD.
When it comes to gaming, I tested the currently popular Fortnite. When loading up, the laptop asked if I wanted to let it set the graphics optimization for the game in order to have it run smoothly. When selected, it put the graphics at ‘medium’ which didn’t look too good on the 1080p screen. I decided to manually change it in-game to ‘epic’ graphics settings and the game ran great with no issues. Perhaps manually changing a few settings with the graphics card would fix this. I do like that the laptop that lets you tweak the graphics card settings or set the internal cooling fan speed, depending on what power intensive apps you are currently running. Perhaps manually changing a few of these settings based on which game I am playing will help to better optimize its use. I should mention, after I turned on and loaded up Fortnite on following days, the laptop didn’t ask if I wanted to optimize any gaming settings as it was already set at ‘epic’ graphics. By the way, I used an Xbox One controller and linking it via Bluetooth was very easy. If you prefer keyboard, the WASD keys are easy to spot thanks to the extra lighting provided to them specifically.
There are few things that I don’t find appealing. Even though the screen is 15.6 inches, the bezel surrounding the screen is about an inch wide and feels like wasted space. Also, when on battery power, the keyboard backlight turns off after 30 seconds when its idle. In a dim room, its hard to see what key you are pressing when you are ready to use the keyboard again. Running your finger across the mouse or even clicking the mouse buttons don’t kick in the backlight either. I chose to just click the spacebar. I looked around but didn’t see a setting to have an ‘always on’ lit keyboard or to at least extend it beyond 30 seconds when on battery power. Also, there is no color changing option, as it is only red.
With everything considered, there are more positives then negatives. Most of the negatives are just personal preferences which may not bother most users. Overall, I would recommend this Acer Nitro 5.

The Turtle Beach Stream Mic is a nice multipurpose microphone. First, the design of the mic feels well-made and durable. I like the ability to have it as a tabletop or boom setup. There is a headphone jack on the back which turns out to be more convenient and a better reach than having to plug in a wired headset into a computer tower that may be sitting on the floor or under a desk. There is also a volume toggle and a ‘mic pattern selector’ switch to accommodate different sound setups, depending on what situation you will be using the mic for. Regarding sound, I used the mic on a PC in tabletop setup from about 2 feet away and it came out pretty clear and loud enough. I compared the sound quality with my current webcam/mic that I normally use for streaming and voice chat on computer games and the Turtle Beach Stream Mic was easily louder and clearer. So now I use this mic as the default sound input with my webcam. Although this is plug-and-play, there is an optional Audio Hub download that is supposed to let you change certain options of the mic sounds. I tested it on two different Windows 10 PC’s but had issues with the software on both. I would recommend this product if you need a simple mic that provides loud and clear audio when streaming or playing multiplayer online games.

This is many steps up above my previous Sonicare toothbrush (HX6210). My old model basically had one button and ran for 2 minutes of brushing. This new 5100 ProtectiveClean (HX6850) has multiple settings and abilities to maintain a healthy and clean mouth. With the BrushSync technology, simply attach any of the available heads and the brush will automatically detect the appropriate settings. However, you can manually adjust the settings to 3 variable speeds or to do a basic cleaning, whitening or gum care. My favorite feature is the pressure sensitive warning if you push to hard on your teeth. The brush head gives off a slight pulsing sensation to let you know you are being too rough on your teeth. Overall, I am very satisfied.

Great sound/features in a small package

The Insignia speaker boasts a big sound in a small package. While not as small as a Google Mini, this little cube shaped speaker is about 6 inches tall by 4 inches width and fits easily on a night stand or out of the way on your living room end table. I like the always-on clock and a notification if the alarm is set. Through the Google Home app on a smartphone, it was easy to setup. You can link Spotify, Pandora, or news outlets to make the experience with the speaker worthwhile. When playing music, the sound fills the room well. Without naming names, I have another high-end speaker that cost twice as much with Cortana built-in and when compared side by side playing the same song, I didn’t notice much of a difference in quality and loudness. I do have one negative that started to bug me…when playing loud music (above 75% volume) the speaker was not able to hear me say ‘Hey Google’ from 8 feet away and I had to go up to it and press the top to get it to stop. Again, by comparison, the Cortana speaker that I mentioned had no issue hearing me say ‘Hey Cortana’ even when the music was playing at the same volume. However, I do recommend this speaker since it has good sound output, can be used as a bed-side clock/alarm, or just a knowledgeable companion with Google Assistant.

Versatile and great addition to the kitchen

This oven proves to be a versatile addition to any kitchen. Although it sports most features from the average high-end toaster/oven, it has fine tuned the features by offering a greater range of options within each setting. When cooking pizza for example, you don’t just set it to ‘pizza’ and hit start. There are extra options to set the size of pizza, whether its frozen or fresh and the thickness of the crust. For the ‘toast’ feature, there are options to set how many slices of bread and how much browning you prefer. A perk that I like is the extra layer of glass on the door to keep the heat contained within the oven and it doesn’t get as hot as past toasters I have owned. This oven will come in handy when I don’t want to turn on the traditional oversize oven just to cook something that will fit in the De’Longhi. With all the features of this oven, I recommend it.

The Invoke is a pretty powerful speaker. The sound fills a large room quite well. If you intend to just use this by connecting your phone and linking the Bluetooth to listen to music, I don’t think you will be disappointed. As a bonus, it has Microsoft’s Cortona built in. Similar to Alexa and Google, you can ask it questions or tell it to play a certain genre of music and it will find the best match using IHeartRadio, Spotify, and TuneIn. If you prefer other apps such as Pandora or SiriusXM from your phone, you can also listen to them through a Bluetooth connection. A feature I liked with Cortana was being able to tell it to set a reminder/schedule and when its ready it will not only announce it through the speaker but it will also appear as a pop-up on my phone. This is handy if I am not in the same room as the Invoke at the time and I don’t hear the alarm. However, one negative I noticed over the past few days is Cortana not always hearing/recognizing my wife and 7 year old daughters voice when they say ‘Hey, Cortana’. It has no problem hearing me at any distance, so I am not sure why it only hears them half the time. Overall, it has a great sound quality I would recommend it.

Decent video editing software

This software is intended to help you edit and make polished videos with your raw footage. I have used other video editing software before for my YouTube videos, so I consider myself to be pretty in tune with the process. With Elements 2018, there is an expert mode and easy mode. I went right to the expert mode because I like to be in control of every step of the video editing process. However, the software just doesn’t feel as polished as I was hoping when trying to fine tune certain things such as trimming to an exact point or trying to adjust multiple sections at one time. By comparison, I currently use a free editing software with just as many features as the Elements and it’s a lot more intuitive and easier to use. In addition to the video editing, there is an ‘organizer’ which will categorize all your photos. It only took a few minutes to import 30000 family photos I had stored on my computer and used face recognition to sort out individuals for easier searching. With that said, I would recommend the Elements 2018 for anyone that is just starting out into video editing and would benefit with the easier mode that offers step-by-step guidance.

Can you stream the oculus quest on your tv? If yes, how?
Yes, you can use Chromecast. However, I have the Quest stream to my phone and then I have my phone streaming to my LG HDTV.

The sound comes from speakers built into the headset or you can plug in headphones also. The sound right out of the headset gives you virtual 360 sound, which is pretty cool.

How is this for watching regular video on youtube, Netflix, etc.?
It looks like you are a watching on a movie theater screen, but the quality is not 4K or anything near that. It is watchable though. Also YouTube VR videos are fun to watch.

This is a stand-alone VR. You do not need a PC, Xbox, PS4, etc to use it. It works all by itself.

How does this connect to the internet? Can I stream videos on it when I'm somewhere without a WiFi connection?
It connects through WIFI. You can't stream videos without an internet connection, unless the movie is already installed on the Quest.
