Great sound - Alexa and firmware update needs work

The Samsung HW-Q850T soundbar comes nicely packaged in a rather large box. All of the pieces are in a plastic bag and the speakers (soundbar, subwoofer, and rear speakers) and rear speaker wireless module are easily removed as you can see in the picture. You open the plastic bag and find a manual, mounting hardware, a weight, rear speak wire (2 @ 13 ft.). HDMI cord, AC cords (3 @ 5ft); remote (see picture), batteries, and the AC/DC converter (see other picture with all of the contents laid out).
Setting up was relatively easy. You plug in the subwoofer first. Then the soundbar is plugged in and the HDMI ARC connection is made between the TV and soundbar in my case. Lastly, you determine the location of the rear speaker wireless module to ensure you can run the speaker cable the necessary distance. As each rear speaker cable is 13 ft. long, the maximum distance the rear speakers would be apart is 26 ft. Once all speakers are powered up they need to be linked together. The soundbar and subwoofer connected right away for me. I had to use the “ID Set” feature to link the rear speakers to the soundbar.
Next I downloaded the Samsung SmartThings app to my Android phone. Here you make the Wi-Fi connection, set up Spotify, set up Alexa and update firmware. The Wi-Fi connection was simple. Spotify connection was simple and works very well within the Spotify app. Alexa setup and firmware updates were failures. I tried (for likely too long) to try to get Alexa to work and update firmware. I am hoping Alexa will work at some time in the future. The wireless update of the firmware (it came with version 1003 in my case) continued to fail. As the manual update requires a USB drive and the service connection on the soundbar is a microUSB, I had to buy a USB female to female coupler to update the firmware (version 1006). Download the firmware to a USB, extract the file to a folder on the USB, connect the USB to your female to female USB coupler, and connect your microUSB cable. Turn on the soundbar and plug in the USB. The firmware updates automatically. I always recommend updating firmware prior to using any device as this will often resolve issues that you would experience if you choose not to do so.
The remote (see picture) is small and efficient. I used it to set the subwoofer level. You can also set the level of the treble, bass, center, front top (this is Atmos/DTS:X after all) and rear speaker levels. This is a nice feature I do not have with my other soundbar set ups. You can better tune the sound to your listening area.
I listened to shows and movies from the TV, Bluetooth music from my phone, and Spotify from my phone app. The sound of this system is amazingly good. The 3D spatial representation is amazing. On one occasion I thought it was truly raining outside (this is set up in a bedroom) but it was just the presentation of sounds from the show. I would say the subwoofer is adequate. You will not be shaking the walls (a good thing?).
I rate this 5 stars on the sound of the set up. 5 stars on the remote control functionality. 3 stars on the SmartThings app. And 0 stars on the Alexa and wireless firmware update as this does not work at this time. However, based on the issue I am having, it may be an Amazon Alexa issue and not SmartThings. Overall, the speaker works well and is worthy of 4 stars. You will not be disappointed in the sound from this setup.

Logitech - G915 TKL Tenkeyless LIGHTSPEED Wireless RGB Mechanical Gaming GL Clicky Switch Keyboard with Back Lighting is one nice keyboard. I have many Logitech products and they do not disappoint. They always a quality product for a reasonable price.
In the box you get an LIGHTSPEED connector cord, the keyboard and a quick start paper. The keyboard surface is aluminum so it will be very durable I think the black looks great with the keys and RGB! The keyboard is put together very well.
The keys have a great feel for typing and gaming. The keys are not incredibly loud which is a plus in my books.
The customization of the lighting per key is more confusing and difficult to set up the way you want. You have great flexibility but it can take some time to set up.Custom animations are a little more complex than other RGB keyboards I have used.
The gaming experience is top notch! There is great response time and you cannot tell it is wireless.
The volume controls are amazing and work well. It is nice that the volume bar cannot be spun to no end.
Switching connections between Bluetooth and LIGHTSPEED connector is seamless. Switching works very well between the two. My personal experience the Bluetooth connection had a slight delay. LIGHTSPEED is the way to go for the best response time (they say 1ms).
The battery life has been incredible. This is also true with the RGB going the entire time.
You can customize the G keys. However, I have not tried that feature out yet.
I give this 4.5 stars (rounding up to 5 as I cannot pick 4.5). The customization of the RGB could be a little simpler in my opinion. But I am sure many of you will love the flexibility and invest the time to make it perfect for you.

The CORAVIN Model Three is obviously for a wine lover. This allows you to keep your expensive best wine fresh by using a pretty cool tactic.
You receive the unit, 2 gas capsules, a needle cleaning tool, wine bottle sleeve and screw cap. The unit comes pre-assembled. You only need to install the gas capsule. It is easy to install by placing it in the capsule cup and screwing it into the main unit. If you have wine with a screw cap, open the wine and immediately place the CORAVIN screw cap on the bottle. Use the device as normal on the bottle with the screw cap.
To use the unit, you do the following:
- press the trigger on the top of the device to release some gas and ensure the needle is clear.
- press the needle through the cork or provided screw cap.
- tilt the bottle like you are going to pour it.
- press the trigger to inject some gas into the bottle.
- the wine will come out of the device spout into your glass.
- when you are done, remove the needle from the bottle, press the trigger to release some gas and clear the needle, and rinse the needle with water. Let it dry and put it away for the next time. You will do this same procedure if you are using for different bottles of wines for the same event.
- press the trigger on the top of the device to release some gas and ensure the needle is clear.
- press the needle through the cork or provided screw cap.
- tilt the bottle like you are going to pour it.
- press the trigger to inject some gas into the bottle.

- this provides the flexibility to have one glass of wine when you want one and keep the wine fresh. I found this very useful on one event where 4 people wanted 4 different types of wine. Each person could have their glass of wine without opening the bottle. So the wine will be fresh for the next event.
- if you purchase and consume very expensive wine, this is a no brainer in my eyes.
- if you typically have one or two glasses from a bottle, there is a strong argument for the CORAVIN device.
- the unit comes with two capsules. I have not used one completely yet. I wonder how long a capsule will last. You can purchase replacement capsules. If you choose a subscription for the capsules, there is a 10% discount.

The Molecule Air Mini is a great device for filtering the air. If you are a person that that is sensitive to particles in the air; or, live in a polluted city, you cannot go wrong with using this unit. This is the smallest of three different Molekule products sold. This unit uses PECO (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation) technology is supposed to destroy pollutants 1,000 times smaller than a traditional HEPA filter. This is described on their website as the ability to break down pollutants at a molecular level, including VOCs, bacteria, mold, viruses, and allergens. This unit is for a smaller area like a bedroom or study up to 250 sq. ft.

The unit comes well packaged and is built very well. It is easy to get it set up and working. All you need to do is:
- push down and twist off the top,
- lift the cover,
- remove the filter and remove the plastic bag surrounding the filter,

If you read the manual, it states the unit does not connect to Wi-Fi or have an app available. This is false as the unit does have an app and connect to Wi-Fi. I downloaded the app and connected the device to Wi-Fi. There is nothing on the app that is not available on the unit itself. I would say do not waste your time on the app. I also found the unit had a difficult time maintaining the connection.
You control the device from the center button on the top of the unit. There are 5 settings and you can see which setting is chosen by the light on top of the unit. On setting 1 (39 dBa), you can barely tell it is on. On setting 5 (62 dBa), it is fairly loud but could be great white noise for sleeping. I personally like whit noise for sleep. The filter status is also displayed. Green = good, flashing orange and the filer is nearly used up, and flashing red means the filter must be replaced. Per the manual, the unit will not operate once the filter needs to be replaced. The filter is supposed to last approximately 6 months depending on usage. The filter is $75 on their website. You can also enroll in a filter replacement subscription for $99 a year. This is definitely the cheapest option.
I have used it for a little over a week so far. Honestly, it is hard to really know if the air is cleaner or not. You just have to trust the science. I feel better knowing my air is cleaner. Check out their website (https://molekule.com/technology) as there is much information on the technology and various test reports. Considering how important air quality is, I recommend this unit.

I had a stain my son left at a difficult spot near the top of the stairs. I followed the directions and removed the stain. The Hoover Oxy Tough Stain Remover even smells decent. View the pictures and see for yourself.

Very effective and compact

I used the freestanding setup and it was very easy to assemble. It is compact and will fit in most areas. It appears to be very sturdy so far both with and without the vacuum attached to the stand. I really like that everything is conveniently stored together. The spare nozzles snap into the upright base. One battery is in the vacuum and one is in the upright base. Both batteries charge at the same time. You can also install the station attached to a wall if desired.
I tried the various tool attachments as well as the power carpet nozzle. The extension wand is adjustable which is very convenient. The unit if fairly light in the hand; and, easy to maneuver. It is also relatively quiet compared to another stick vacuum I have. The speed is adjustable and there is an on off button. So you do not have to hold the power on. I did the entire 2000 sq. ft. house on turbo setting and used about a battery and a half. Battery usage is significantly less on non-turbo setting. You can tell this is a well-built unit.
I was very interested in how this will work on dog hair. We have a black lab that sheds all the time. The vacuum did a great job of sucking up the dog hair! This is more effective that our other stick vacuum. However, the dirt reservoir became full quickly and had to be emptied numerous times. Also, there is not much clearance between the cyclone mesh filter and the side of the dirt reservoir. So the hair became stuck in this location. There is a specific way to clean this area I describe later. This was not as convenient as it could be. If there was a little more clearance, the hair would have been more east to remove. This was a result of emptying the vacuum in the same manner as my other stick vac. Little did I know there was a more effective way to empty the vacuum.
The proper way to empty the dust bin (per the manual) is:
1) Open the dust bin over the garbage using the release button. Empty the debris.
2) Insert the crevice tool into the large dust separator and turn counter clockwise. This will release the dust separator and the entire dust bin can be cleaned using the combination tool.
3) The large dust separator can be cleaned in water and set aside to dry.

It was easy to clean once I read the manual (see pictures).
Overall I give this vacuum 5 stars. It is a very effective stick vacuum with much versatility. It is light and easy to use. The suction can be easily regulated from a normal setting to turbo mode. The two batteries allowed for the cleaning of a 2000 sq. ft. home with both tile and carpet. It is easy to store using the freestanding mode or attaching it to a wall. Everything is conveniently together in one place. And with a 10 year warranty on the motor, I recommend this to everyone.

There are multiple versions of the TRX. The difference is in the material used and the number of routines available. This TRX Fit System suspension trainer version has everything you need and comes with two routines. The box also contains the card to register at mylocker. Mylocker also has great information on how to set up and adjust the TRX. These TRX straps are not rubber band like. They are solid and strong. You are using your body weight to perform resistance related training.
Routine #1 is the CORE routine. You can print a PDF of the routine for quick reference from Mylocker. You also get a video of each routine. I strongly recommend you watch the videos first as it will clarify your body position and how to execute each exercise. The video routine is slightly different than the paper copy. I could feel the effect on my core after doing this routine for 2 days.
Routine #2 is the STRETCH routine. This is really nice to do at the end of your workout (TRX Core or otherwise).
This is a great product to help your exercise routine at home. It is well built. Remember to connect it close to the hinge of your door so not too much stress is placed on your door frame.. There are workouts in mylocker that come with your purchase. There are other workouts available. I will continue to use this for a quick and effective workout.

MX Keys Backlit Keyboard

I have had multiple Logitech devices over the years. They have always been good performers for me. This MX Keys Advanced Wireless Illuminated Keyboard is another quality product from Logitech. This is a premium backlit wireless keyboard. After opening up the package, I charged the keyboard (Type C BTW) and downloaded the Logitech Options program on my Windows 10 PC. I then changed the setting to use one unified receiver for both the MX Mouse and the MX Keyboard. I have been using this for almost exactly a month.
Looks: I like the looks of this keyboard. It “feels” small to me but it is not small. Also, it is solid feeling and heavy. I think the word "solid" best describes the keyboard.
Usage: After using this for almost a month, I really like it. At first the function keys did not operate the way I expected. I changed the setting in the Logitech Options program to use the default function keys F1 – F12. You then use the function (fn) key to use the other settings on the function buttons. I think one of the best things is the way the backlight wakes up/turns on when your hand gets close to the keyboard. To me a backlit keyboard is a must have. This works extremely well. Also, when not in use the backlight is off. So this will conserve the battery. Typing is effortless with no fatigue. The buttons have a great tactile feeling similar to an expensive laptop. It is comfortable and stable. You can pair it to up to 3 devices. I have only tested pairing it to one so far.
Battery: When I received the keyboard, I plugged it in for a full charge. After almost a month, the keyboard is still fully charged. And it is used a lot! The website states up to 10 days on a full charge. I have far exceeded 10 days of use.
Conclusion: With a long battery life and the impressive response after using it for a month, I rate the Logitech MX Keys keyboard 5 stars. I cannot think of one thing that could be done to improve this device.

Best mouse I have owned

I have had multiple Logitech devices over the years. They have always been good performers for me. This MX Master 3 laser mouse is a step into the premium mouse category. This is the most expensive mouse I have ever owned. After opening up the package, I charged the mouse (Type C BTW) and downloaded the Logitech Options program on my Windows 10 PC. Looks: I doubt anyone would argue that this looks really cool! The double scroll wheel. The flared base. The thumb scroll wheel. There is no doubt this is one really good looking mouse. All the other mice are envious.
Usage: After using this for a little less than a month, I can honestly say this is my favorite mouse. The scroll is extremely accurate and much more accurate than other mice I have used. I have the scroll selected for the “notched” feel. I like this much better. Also, with one flick of the wheel, you will scroll to the bottom of a document or page. It is the best of both worlds. There is also a thumb scroll button that is useful on many different apps. For Excel you can scroll left or right in a large workbook. For Word you can zoom in and out. There are two buttons below the thumb scroll wheels as well. These can operate as undo and redo for example. You can pair it to up to 3 devices. I have only tested pairing it to one so far.
Battery: When I received the mouse, I plugged it in for a full charge. After almost a month, the mouse is still fully charged. And it is used a lot! The website states up to 70 days on a full charge. I believe it.
Conclusion: With a long battery life and the impressive response after using it for a month, I rate the Logitech MX Master 3 Laser Mouse 5 stars. I cannot think of one thing that could be done to improve this device.

Great for Windows PC and Android Phone

This software package AVG Ultimate is more than just antivirus software. I will discuss all of the different options and features. The package is installed on 2 windows 10 PC’s and 4 Android phones. It is comforting to know I am safe and my devices are operating to their potential. You get Antivirus, Tune-up and VPN software included with the license. Also, with 10 licenses, I can protect all of the devices in my family.
AVG Ultimate was first installed on a PC. The install was straight forward with no issues encountered. I entered my subscription key and all of the additional features were enabled. All of the default settings were perfect. You need to uninstall any already installed antivirus software before installing AVG. This is very standard. The most recent software and virus definitions were downloaded. I then ran a full scan. Thankfully no viruses were found.
VPN software was used next. You can select locations from most countries across the world. I did a test connecting to the server in Canada. It worked perfectly with no noticeable impact to performance. I set it so it is always on to protect my identity.
TuneUp was next up. After the scan AVG TuneUp found:
- 500 broken registry items
- 1,725 broken shortcuts
- 3.6 GB system junk files
- 1.7GB browser cache
- 85 tracking and other items
All of these were cleaned within minutes. You are then provided the option for Automatic Maintenance. I turned this on to keep everything running optimally. Next up is to Speed up your PC and review all of the background and start up programs. 23 programs were listed. There are 3 I want to keep running in the background. I selected “ignore” for these programs. 20 programs were put to sleep. Last is “Fix Problems”. This checks your disk drives. I have 3 drives and 2 out of 3 had no errors. One disk had errors which were fixed.

All of these were cleaned within minutes. You are then provided the option for Automatic Maintenance. I turned this on to keep everything running optimally. Next up is to Speed up your PC and review all of the background and start up programs. 23 programs were listed. There are 3 I want to keep running in the background. I selected “ignore” for these programs. 20 programs were put to sleep. Last is “Fix Problems”. This checks your disk drives. I have 3 drives and 2 out of 3 had no errors. One disk had errors which were fixed.
Using you ultimate license allows you also use this software on your phone. I have an android phone so installed VG Antivirus and AVG cleaner from the Play Store. After install I enter the subscription key to enable all features.
The install went fast with no issues. The AVG antivirus scan was fast and no issues were encounters. I used the ACG Cleaner and this freed up a lot of space on my phone. I went from 91% utilization to 79%. My phone is faster! You can also hibernate apps so they are not consuming resources.
Overall this is an excellent and comprehensive package for all of your devices. I recommend this software package for Windows PC’s and Android phones.

When you are on a call, in a very noisy situation (kids sports event), will the person you are speaking with hear the background noise (shouting, cheering, buzzers, etc)?

Does this set(QC45) need an adapter to connect with the TV screen on airplanes? Is it included? I saw an adapter when I looked at the QC35II, will it work with this model?
