Easy install and setup

I was looking for a "smart" upgrade for my smoke/carbon monoxide detector after some friends brought up a good point about why these should be your most essential smart device. If your house is on fire while you're away, it'll alert your phone and you can contact someone immediately to check on it and call the fire department. In emergency situations like this, every second matters, especially if you have pets at home.
The First Alert Onelink has a nice clean design and feels well built with solid, durable plastic. It should blend well in any decor, and looks more like a modern wireless router than a smoke/monoxide detector. I also love that you can label what room it's in and what room it says in the voice alerts. Like "FIRE EMERGENCY DOWNSTAIRS. EVACUATE".
However, what truly amazed me about the Onelink was how easy it is to install and setup. Wiring and mounting wise, it's just like any other detector. A black, white, and optional orange wire that go to a simple harness, and it even comes with 2 other harnesses to daisy chain with other units. That was simple enough, but the amazing part came when I had to sync my phone app with the Onelink and connect it to my wireless network. On the Android market look for "Onelink Home by First Alert". Once it's installed, just make sure your phone is connected to the wifi network, open the app after you're done wiring up the Onelink, and aside from asking your wifi info, it'll detect and sync just about everything else automatically. From beginning to end, it took me maybe 20 minutes and I was taking my time.
This is a great choice for anyone looking for a simple and easy "smart" upgrade to their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. I have pets, so knowing I'll be alerted if there's a fire or carbon monoxide emergency while I'm out gives me outstanding peace of mind.

Decent Rugged Action Camera

If you're in the market for camcorder that can take abuse, the Canon HF W10 should be on your list. In fact, I don't see much of a reason to have a dedicated camcorder nowadays with how capable smartphones and compact cameras are, but this Canon fills one major exception. It's rugged. You can take it 16 feet under water, drop it from 5 feet, and put it through tortuous environments without fear of it breaking on you. Sure a GoPro can do the same thing at 4k, but this has a live viewfinder so you can actually see what you're recording, plus it can zoom! The ergonomics are fine, pretty standard design for a handheld camcorder with a pop off lens cover that has a nice clip to latch onto the hand strap so it's not just dangling around as you're recording.
Recording wise, it's a 1080p camera that takes good video in bright light, but is a bit noisy in lowlight. You can easily snap photos while you're recording, which is great, and the menu system is pretty simple to navigate through. There's a manual camera mode that more advanced users might love, but to me this camera is all about quick and easy convenience for nasty terrain. I already have a camera for fine photography and my phone does 4k pretty decently, but would I dare take them out on a boat or kayak? Or while swimming? Or heck, going underwater??? NO. That's what this camera is for... perfect for going fishing, swimming in the pool, shallow scuba diving, recording in the rain, a water gun fight, or even giving to your nephew / niece to play with (who you know will drop it).
The only thing I don't like is exporting videos. I wish every camera recorded in mp4 to make transfers easy, but this camera compiles all the videos into a package that you then have to select the video and export it into the file format of your choosing. While it's kind of a standard process that I've gotten used to, it's so much more convenient when cameras record directly into mp4, or other widely accepted media platform so all the user would have to do is copy the files directly over. Not a deal breaker, and it's a common issue for camera manufacturers, but something I wish they would improve on.
Overall, get this camera if you need something rugged that can zoom, go underwater, handle freezing temps, and can handle some drops. Excellent camera for the boat or beach!

Fantastic Single Player FPS

I grew up playing the original Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny, so I was excited to see a modern take on the series. This game does not let down! The narrative is great, the sound editing is great, the gameplay is great, I'm really just happy to see a remake done so well. The only downside is that it's not a multiplayer game, but if that doesn't bother you, and you enjoy first person shooters, definitely get this game.
On a side note, the cover mentions something about a free Doom beta, but I think that might be some kind of old promotion, because I can't find it anywhere. Or maybe I have to unlock it, I'm not sure, but there wasn't any info in the case.

Excellent affordable bluetooth headphones

I got these on sale for an excellent price, which I'd gladly pay the full amount for as well. I was looking for a cheap set of bluetooth headphones because the headphone jack on my cell phone was broken and it was a lot cheaper going this route than fixing my phone. I was worried that it'd be fragile, and truth be told the plastic does seem a bit cheap. The build quality makes me think late 90's Transformers plastic, but it's held up well and is expected for the low price. Get past that and you're rewarded with some decent sound that can get pretty loud without distortion. It's not bass heavy and the sound quality won't blow you away with superior acoustics, but it's not bad either. Again, considering how inexpensive these headphones are, they sound pretty good.
The battery is said to last about 8-10 hours and I can attest to that. They're true to that rating, but what surprised me the most is how quickly they charge. Hooked up to the factory charger from my LG G2, it only takes maybe 30 min for a full charge. Blazing!
If you're in the market for some cheap bluetooth headphones, I highly suggest these. I don't know if they'll survive the abuse that little kids would unleash, but treat them with some respect and they should hold up well.

Like a whole new computer

I've been looking at upgrading the hard drive on my 2010 MacBook Pro for a while after upgrading to Yosemite, which made it extremely slow. For a while I thought it was RAM related, but I noticed that Yosemite allocates files differently and was made with SSD speeds in mind, so I figured the only way to get my baby purring again is to upgrade. Swapping out the hard drives was pretty simple, and I just did a simple recovery from Time Machine instead of a fresh install of Yosemite. PROBLEM SOLVED! My MacBook Pro is blazing fast again, the hang ups it had looking for files is gone, and everything is snappy. I went from waiting 4 minute boot up times to now just waiting maybe 30 seconds. It's fast and I love it. There's cheaper SSD's to go with, but I work with a lot of big files doing photo and video editing so I wanted the best. You will not be disappointed.

Anyone looking for a solid zoom lens in the 17-55mm range has probably had their eyes on this lens, and I'm happy to say it's fantastic. It's very well built, focuses fast, and is very sharp. I use it on a Nikon D5000 and the first thing I noticed was the wonderful color rendition. It's tack sharp as well, and doesn't get lost focusing. The only thing I don't like is that the zoom ring turns the opposite direction than my other lenses, but that's a minor inconvenience. If you can't take great pictures with this lens, it's not the hardware that needs upgrading.

I'm still surprised at the quality of tablets you can get in the $100 range. Don't expect Samsung and iPad screen brightness and clarity, but it is an HD screen and videos & images are sharp. Has solid specs and the mini-SD slot is a great addition to add more storage. No word on reliability yet, but it does seem well built. My only gripe is that I don't really like Windows 8, but if you're fine with the operating system, by all means try this out. We mainly use it as a digital photo album to show clients our products and it's great in that regard.

No. It's just for audio. I have to switch the call to my phone when I'm connected to this speaker.
