Very Capable 14 inch Laptop

Considering I buy a few laptops a year, I am particular on the speed and consistency of the machines I buy. First thoughts of this laptop are extremely positive as for the price that this is offered, it will be hard to beat.
I am usually partial to the competitor processor buyer at the I7 level (at least) but this laptop has made me think twice about AMD and its Ryzen brand. This machine easily boots up as fast as some of my competitor processors and honestly, I believe it is faster. It handles multitasking extremely well and even with 8 open browser windows, the fan was at a negligible level.
Unboxing and setup was very straightforward and the visual look and feel of the computer is premium. I am still not sure if the chassis is a metal composite or plastic but either way, it feels both lightweight and premium. Opening and closing the laptop reveals no squeaks and has a sturdy demeanor.
The screen has a matte like finish and the HD screen is superb. Connecting to various media sources at home with all my subscriptions was positive without any buffering. Sound is as to be expected from any laptop although after tweaking the settings it was noticeably better.
Processing, screen, multitasking....all great.
I have just a few "negatives" that warrant mentioning...first is the keyboard. Computer manufacturers need to realize that not everyone types without looking at the keyboard. While many of us do, having a grey base chassis with grey keys with silver markings is, well, curious. My second critique is regarding the charging port. I simply do not understand why any manufacturer, including the fruit, would not adopt the latest in charging a device - USB at the latest version. Another "charging cable" is, well, antiquated.
Overall, I recommend this for a mid range capable product with just a few upgrades needed.

Wonderful TV

Overall, this is a worthy TV with a very nice picture quality at an extremely attractive price point. I usually like to take a week or so to test drive a product before writing a review but after only 2 days, it was quite apparent that Hisense has a winner here with a host of PROS and only a couple of CONS.
Unboxing and first Impressions – Packaging was sturdy and protective and the four quick release plastic box fasteners on the bottom of the box made for very easy exposure to the product. Simply lift the box up over the TV, being careful to not let the TV fall. The remote, leg mounting hardware and manuals were all neatly tucked in the Styrofoam on the backside of the TV. Getting the TV out of the box of course required two people in order to lay it screen side down on a table (covered by a soft sheet) such that the legs could be attached. There are two points to attach the legs – a wider base (points A) as well as a narrower base (Points B) for those with a smaller console table. I tried both points and found the wider base to be considerably more stable. The legs attach with 2 screws in each leg to the base of the TV. I found them to be adequate and sturdy. Lifting the TV to the stand again required 2 people as the TV is quite heavy compared to other 65-inch TV’s I have owned. This TV is also quite a bit thicker than I was expecting. The top half of the TV is approximately an inch thick while the bottom half tapers to maximum width of 3 inches. The TV has plenty of HDMI inputs (4) and has optical audio out in case you want to send sound to a surround system or soundbar. It has an ethernet port for direct wire internet or you can connect wirelessly. I usually choose to direct connect to get the fastest download speeds. There are also 2 USB ports to view files and or stored content like videos or pictures. The TV can be wall mounted. The bezel, as touted is very thin and attractive.
Picture – This is where I had to spend a good quality 2 hours to tweak the picture to my personal tastes. The picture out of the box with the TV connected to my cable provider box via HDMI 2.1 was less than stellar as it was set to energy saving mode which made the TV look washed out and the motion on the screen showed lots of judder. Please do not let this deter you as it did not take but 20 minutes to macro tune the TV to what I like through the TV menu. There are numerous different picture mode settings to choose from so most people will be able to find one that suits their preferences. Within 20 minutes the picture was vibrant and had no judder whatsoever (was watching Avatar which has lots of colors and fast-moving screens). The remaining 90 minutes of time tweaking the picture was for micro tuning all the advanced picture settings to my liking. I won’t go into all these settings as my tastes may differ considerably from another’s. After I was done, the picture quality rivaled my other 65-inch TV which was three times the price. I then connected my 4k blu ray player and was amazed at the picture quality and appeared as good as any 4K HDR picture can look.
Sound – The sound from the TV speakers was what I expected and was neither stellar nor disappointing. It is always hard to have “great” sound in such small speakers on any TV. I found it adequate and loud enough. I only had the sound up to 70% volume before it became too loud for my taste. Connecting this to my soundbar was easy through the optical out port on the TV and then simply going to the TV menu and changing the sound profile from the TV to the optical port.
Network and Connectivity – I have gigabit speed internet and found absolutely no buffering when connected via wire (ethernet) or wirelessly. I always keep my TV wired to the internet to be sure I get no buffering.
Software - All your favorite apps are available through the android platform – anyone with an android phone will recognize the software but if you a fruit connoisseur of phone, you will not find this difficult to navigate. Apps downloaded and opened quickly and the preinstalled apps automatically updated themselves upon connecting to the internet. There is a slight delay when toggling between watching TV (through cable) and going to the Apps page by pressing the Apps button on the remote but I did not find this to be an issue.
Remote – Adequate and does everything a remote should do. Has 4 dedicated app buttons on the bottom that I wish could be reassigned as 2 of them I don’t use. One small CON is that the remote is not backlit so in a dark setting you may have difficulty finding the button you need. The remote does have voice control.
Gaming – I am certainly no expert here but my two teenage sons connected their gaming system to this TV and they gave it two thumbs up as they said there was no lag or juddering.
In closing, I am quite impressed with this offering from Hisense. It fits in a nice sweet spot for quality vs price and while this is not the thinnest or lightest TV out there, you will be very hard pressed to find another TV with same specs at this price point. I believe they have a winner with this TV.

Outstanding with only two issues!

I have owned many over the ear headphones in the past ranging from low to very high dollar amounts but this is my first foray into a higher end product. I have to say that I was skeptical to believe that a set of headphones of this price could be worth it but I was clearly mistaken. I have experience with b&o with the in the ear wireless E8's so I knew what quality of a product they can produce and the H9's did not disappoint! The tonality is good right out of the box but with the b&o app, one can tweak the sound to however desired. Interesting that the sound profile I chose on the H9's was totally different than the E8's but the sound from the H9's is in a word - stunning. I am hearing nuances of the music that I never heard before. The active noise cancelling is very very good and the controls on the right earcup are ridiculously easy and rather intuitive after just a few minutes of use. I did set up google assistant on my phone to use with the headphones and it is easy to activate on the left earcup and is nicely responsive and rather accurate.
Just a couple things they can improve upon in my humble opinion - the directions on pairing the headphones are a bit weak. For example - one needs to have both bluetooth on (of course) and location services on for the app to find the product. Nowhere in the directions or on the websites product manual does it say that location services has to be on for pairing - so after 7 failed attempts to have the b&o app find my H9;s, I had to google search why I couldn't pair and came across another review somewhere that mentioned the location services toggled to on was necessary. Of course, this does not detract from the quality of the product but rather a simple 2 minute pair process took me an hour - and I am rather tech savvy.
One other small negative is that these headphones do not come with a hard case, just a soft "bag" to store them in. A hard case should be standard in headphones of this price. I had to buy a hard case that fits the H9's perfectly. B&O could even raise the price a bit and provide a hard case because let's face it - if your paying this amount of money for headphones (product plus tax), I am betting the same person would pay an extra small bit for headphones and hard case. Basically no difference.
My review score would be 4.5 out of 5 if I could do it on the site. 0.5 off for the cons noted above.

Great close shave!

I'll have to say that I have had many electric razors in my years and I was not expecting much from this series razor. I could not have been more wrong - it has given me as close a shave as any of my previous razors - some of which were three times as much as this one. I waited to do this review for a few weeks to allow my face to adapt to this razor as all of them seem to take a week or two for the "full effect". I have tried this both wet and dry and it gives a nice clean shave even around the neck / adams apple difficult area. All in all - very pleased and I recommend!

Powerhouse cordless vacuum
on September 13, 2019
Posted by: JediJeff

I have owned a number of Dyson vacuums but it has been a while since I felt the need to upgrade my cordless handheld one. My old cordless, the Dyson DC56 has lasted me many years and was just recently showing its age with poor battery life and suction.
This new Dyson DC10 is the perfect replacement and is a leap ahead in quality, battery life and design than my old DC56. The vacuum came with 6 attachments as well as the extension pole such that it can be used as a handheld or like a regular upright vacuum. The hardwood floor soft attachment is a dream to use as I have hardwoods throughout my entire lower floor. The carpet attachment is very capable in cleaning up both pet hair and dirt without any issues. Notable that the battery life with the carpet attachment is less by about 15 minutes. The mini motorized head uses even more battery life but really is not being used in my household as the other two attachments mentioned are perfectly capable and easy to maneuver. The other three attachments are the smaller detailing ones for tight spaces and I use them frequently in my cars.
Overall battery life is about 45-60 minutes which is more than adequate for me, living in a 3000 sq ft home. The unit charges back to full (from empty) in about 2.5 hours and the included wall mount to dock and charge is wonderful.
Overall - Dyson has a winner with this product. Pricey? - yes, but I am a firm believer in Dyson. If it lasts as long as my DC56, I will be very happy indeed.

Powerful, Thin Laptop

I have had a couple of weeks now to use this laptop and it performs extremely well compared to my other Ultrabook with similar specs. I have found the I7 Processor with the 512GB hard drive to be the perfect combination.
For the price, this is a very capable machine and yes, extremely light with the magnesium alloy body. The screen is not a 4K HD screen so if you are looking for that, please look elsewhere. I I have found the screen perfectly capable and clear.
The only couple items I do not like: no thunderbolt 3-USB C and no ability to charge via USB-C (it comes with it's own proprietary charging block which I find antiquated.
Overall I like this laptop and will use it as my travel laptop due to its lightweight and specs.

Great Shaver for a Tough Beard
on January 9, 2019
Posted by: JediJeff
from Kansas City
As a 45 year old male with a heavy black beard, I have been through my fair share of razors ranging from $50 to $350 and this razor is IMHO tied with my current razor of the same price as this PN razor (I currently own a different brand). I waited a bit to write this review as I wanted to put it through a good test of beard lengths as well as try it dry vs wet. The razor performed very well in all my tests but I certainly got the best shave in the shower using shaving gel and this PN razor. I only had to use my blade for under my lip and along the adam's apple area as this razor could not get close enough. I have never had a razor that could hit these two areas so not really a knock on this one. All in all I would highly recommend this.
Of note, the charger is wireless and like a cell phone QI charger but as it lays flat, it takes up a little more room on the counter than all my other stand up charging units. The fit, finish and feel of this razor are perfect. Well done PN!

Beautiful cover, bad book + loud fan
By Levi
This laptop definitely gives a great first impression. The watchband hinge is unique looking and reduces the wobble that plagues most 2-in-1 computers. The glass panel is elegant. The touchpad is apple quality.
However, one should not always judge a book by its cover. After using the laptop for a week, I noticed that the high-pitch fan kicks up at random times. It is also not a comfortable, low pitch hum that occasionally turns on like on my old macbook air which I considered in the past to be very noisy. It's more a like a high pitch kettle sound that's constantly on and throttles violently at times. Perhaps, if you're elderly or partially deaf, this will not bother you. Even the BIOS driver released in December 2016 did not help in my case. Actually, the fan ran 80% before the driver. Now, it runs literally 100% of the time. And FYI, I use the laptop mostly to watch youtube, take notes for class, and watch netflix.
When I was looking at the display model in the store, I asked the salesperson whether or not the laptop had an aggressively loud fan like some comments online had mentioned. He told me that the computer is silent because of the SSD which is a complete lie. Do not be fooled by claims that this laptop runs quietly. The only time this computer is silent is when it is turned off or in standby. I read in another review that the fan is only noisy for the first week of use because of some file management process that is beyond my understanding. But, I can assure you that the fan is still noisy after 1 week of use.
I expected loud fan noise during intensive processes like making a movie. But, I hear the fan screaming even when I only have one browser window open and gmail. It can get pretty annoying in quiet places, so I no longer can work in quiet libraries. Sadly, this supposedly flagship computer is best used at home or in private/ noisy places where sound isn't an issue. And even when watching netflix, I have always opted to use headphones because no one likes to watch tv/movies with constant whistling in the background.
Another concern is the durability of the glass cover. I am very sad that my beautiful glass cover looks like a limited edition "spider web" now after just 1 week. I placed it on a stand to elevate the keyboard to a comfortable typing position. The stand tipped over backwards and the laptop pivoted off 4 inches. That was enough to shatter the entire back lid. Now I know why 99% of laptops don't use glass as the lid cover... So if you own or are considering this laptop, I would invest in the bestbuy protection plan or a screen protector because this glass lid is beautiful but not practical at all. And because the laptop is limited edition, Lenovo quoted an $800 price for the replacement part after 2 hours on hold... for that price I can buy a whole other laptop with multiple thunderbolt usb C, hdmi output, normal sized right shift key, active stylus compatibility.
If I could do it again, I might give the full HD standard aluminum version a chance. I really wanted a unique laptop, and unfortunately it didn't work out well for me. Sometimes it is better to be practical. I would go for a metal laptop with certain features that this laptop lacked: latest thunderbolt capable usb C, >6 hr of real world use, hdmi or mini display port of some sort, SD card reader, and larger right shift key.

I have found this computer to be just about perfect, especially after my updates to BIOS and all other drivers. Runs super quiet and fan kicks in quietly once every hour or so and when does, it is certainly not loud. See my review for what I did after purchase...it makes ALL the difference to the performance!

I wanted to know your recommendations for the speaker wire ? others have mentioned 14/4 CL3 or 14/1 CL. I just want to know what is best for this system and amp.

14/4, direct burial wire would be perfect
