Best trimmer in my arsenal

If there's one thing I'm good at, it's growing nose hair. For some reason, somewhere in my 30's I lost all of the hair on the top of my head and it all started growing in my nose. I have to trim every few days or I end up with a few coarse hairs in particular that irritate the inside of my nostrils. Gross, but a fact of life for middle-aged men.
As such I've amassed a few tools to do the job. I have rotary trimmers, some straight trimmers, little scissors and I've even tried a product for waxing the inside of my nose. I would not recommend trying it!
I was happy to try out this trimmer and and extremely happy with it. I'm about to toss the rest of my tools!
The overall feeling is very premium. It's sturdy, has a nice heft to it and I like the grippy coating on it. The power switch is big and easy to use and it even has a nice power light on it. The top unscrews and is easy to clean.
The trimming portion has bigger grooves than my other trimmers which seems to help with the coarser hairs. There is no pulling or dragging at all. There's a nice satisfying "click" as each hair is cut down. So far it seems to cut cleanly and leaves just enough above the surface to avoid ingrown hairs and has no issue at all with the thicker hairs.
I love that this one is rechargeable and uses a USB-C cable for charging. I like being able to take one charging cable for everything on a trip.
There are a lot cheaper trimmers out there, but I would highly recommend this on above all others, and I'm definitely well-versed with all of them!

Good headphones, excellent for the price

I'm a big fan of Skullcandy 'phones. Generally they perform above their price point and are durable and well supported. I often recommend them to people who are prone to losing their stuff or who lose them easily. They're especially great for students or people who travel a lot. The Mod TW earbuds are no exception.
The first thing you'll notice is that the case is a little on the larger side compared to some competitors. While this is true, Skullcandy claims that you'll get over 30 hours of charge time out of the earbuds and case. That's an insane amount of time and usually gets me through a week of commuting on the train. While the case is a little chonky it is contoured nicely so its easy to get into and out of a pocket. The hinge on the case is also very sturdy and opens and closes with some force so they won't open in your pocket.
While they're comfortable I have a little bit of a challenge getting a good seal. I'm still playing around with the extra eartips. I tend to run into this problem with most earphones and switch over to foam third-party tips eventually.
Sound quality is good. They are not nearly as good as my Bose or Apple earphones, but are more than acceptable at a much lower price point. They are very bass heavy but I tend to like a lot of bass. Highs are good without being overpowered with a touch of sibilance. The excellent Skullcandy app allows you to EQ them to your personal taste.
The app also includes settings to change what the earbuds do when you tap them and even prompts you to download the Tile app so you can find the case using the built in Tile tracker. Excellent for teens and others who misplace their stuff often.
While these aren't noise cancelling they do a good job of sealing out the train noise, but I'm still able to hear the announcements so I don't miss my stop.
Definitely consider these as a primary set of earbuds or even as a back-up set for travel and commuting in situations where you might not want to lose much more expensive ones.

All day comfort

I currently have a hybrid working situation where I work from home some days and in the office others. I use these for my at-home days where I’m in Microsoft Teams meetings most of the day and have been very happy with how comfortable they are.
First and foremost they work perfectly with Microsoft Teams. Headsets are kind of hit and miss with Teams functionality, so rest assured these are great. The mic boom folds up and down. When up it goes flush into the earcup and also automatically mutes the mic in Teams. There’s voice feedback that tells you when the mic is muted or unmuted. There’s also volume controls and a button for power and pairing.
Pairing was super simple and it pairs to two devices at once and connects to whichever is being used. I have it set up with my iPhone and with my work PC and can answer teams caller or my phone, which is really handy.
There’s a mobile app called Logi Tune that can be downloaded to your phone and has a few EQ settings that can be changed on the headset. The changes you make with the phone app also apply to the sound on PC.
Comfort is excellent. They are light weight and the earcups are covered with a soft fabric. The cups are padded well and breathe, so I don’t get hot an sweaty in long meetings. They’re a dark grey and don’t show dirt.
These are strictly for office use and maybe some informal music listening. I would not recommend them for gaming or critical music listening.

Anti-reflective, not anti-glare

Admittedly I didn’t realize what these actually are. I expected one of those grainy anti-glare screen protectors that make small text blurry. I was really happy to find out that these are not like that but are the usual clear glass but somehow less reflective than normal glass screen protectors.
Don’t expect them to be perfect, they do reflect bright light and light backgrounds, but not as much as normal screen protectors. They are not anti-glare so you will still see some glare.
They go nearly to the edge all around but leave just a little space to make them case friendly. I have mine on with an Urban Armor Gear case with an aggressive protective lip and it doesn’t interfere with the protector at all. It also completely covers the dynamic island and doesn’t have a cutout for it. It doesn’t interfere with the island or the front camera. The only cutout is one for the speaker and is very slight.
Centering is easy using the included template. There’s a frame that clips on the front of the phone and helps to align the screen protector perfectly.
One of the best parts is the fact it comes with three protectors in the package. I always get something under the first one and end up removing it to kind of clear off the phone screen and put down a second one quickly.
Clarity is perfect and they are thin, in a good way. Once it’s on and centered you’ll never know it’s there!

Basement Peace of Mind

I moved into my first home with a basement about ten years ago. We live in an area known for radon and have an abatement system, but who knows how effective it is without occasional testing? To that end I bought a small Airthings radon sensor a few years ago and love it. I was really excited to see that they started to produce monitors that go beyond radon and connect to a smartphone.
Mounting was easy and really smart. There’s a round magnetic disk that mounts to a wall or ceiling with one screw, then the monitor simply sticks to it. Removing it to replace the batteries is as simple as pulling it straight out rather than that twist and pull thing you need to do with smoke detectors.
The monitor works in conjunction with the Airthings Wave app, in my case on the iPhone. The app shows radon levels, volatile gas levels, carbon dioxide, humidity, temperature and air pressure. So far the radon levels are consistent with my stand-alone Airthings sensor.
The main page shows an overall view of air quality and readings, and a second page breaks them out by type and shows the trend over 2 days to one year. This is really handy for things like radon that can change over time due to weather and how your radon pump is working.
There are a couple things I wish were different. I wish that it showed carbon monoxide rather than CO2 since I have gas appliances and a gas furnace in the basement too.
Also, it communicates to the phone over Bluetooth and not WiFi. I need to be in range of the sensor, and I can’t monitor from away from home. Apparently you can purchase a wireless bridge to set it up on WiFi, so that can be done, but it requires an additional purchase.
I would very much recommend this for someone with a basement or who is interested in an overall view of air quality in other parts of the house.

Fast and Lightweight - Great for Steam Deck, too!

First off, I was surprised to plug this in and find it had RGB lights on the underside. You can’t even tell they’re there until it’s plugged in. I love having RGB stuff around my gaming desk, so I immediately fell in love!
The drive itself is smaller than anticipated (in a good way!) and is lightweight but also in a very sturdy metal case. Not only does that make it perfect for a gaming laptop on the go, but I’ve been using mine with my Steam Deck. It comes with a short USB C to USB C cable (an extremely thick and sturdy one) that’s a perfect length to attach to the back with a small hook and loop fastener.
Speed is excellent and playing games off the hard drive doesn’t seem to be any different than playing from the internal drive. In fact, I set up the Steam Deck to boot Windows from the Western Digital drive and it boots up faster than it does from a SD card.
One thing I did notice, however, is that the RGB doesn’t work if I use it as an external drive on a non-windows operating system.
I did also test it out on an Xbox Series S. Like all external drives I was able to play Xbox One games from it or could archive Series S/X games, but you can’t play next-get games directly from it.
This is a great drive for portable gaming and also perfect for a console or desktop area where you need extra storage that doesn’t take up a lot of desk space.

Great portable charger

I was completely blown away by how small this charger is when I opened it. Compared to other chargers with the same capacity this little guy is tiny, and the fold-away blades make it even smaller in a travel kit or bag.
When I say small, I mean it’s not much bigger than the original “cube” chargers iPhones used to come with. The difference is those were something like 5 watts while this little beast puts out 30 watts over USB-C PD.
That’s enough for some older MacBook Airs and enough to charge iPads, iPhones and Android devices that require USB c quickly. For reference, the Nintendo Switch takes around 40 watts and the new Steam Deck takes around 45. Those are ratings for playing while charging, so this will provide power while playing but the device’s battery will likely drain slowly while playing. In my opinion, if you’re not going to be in a long session and you want to travel as lightly as possible that’s a small price to pay. Note that if you’re not playing while charging this will charge to full capacity, it may just take slightly longer than with the stock charger for those devices.
If you’re like I am and love to have everything you need with you when you commute or go on trips this is an absolutely essential item for charging on the go, provided your devices take USB-C. At this price this charger is a must-have.

Works well, bigger than it looks

Full disclosure, my wife is the one who uses this as I have no hair left to dry. She, on the other hand, has thick, short hair and styles it every morning using a brush and blow dryer, so I thought this would be a perfect way to make that routine easier.
The first thing we both noticed is that this is much larger than expected. It looks a little bigger than a standard hairbrush in photos, but in reality it’s over 12 inches long and is very big around at the base. My wife found it unwieldy at first but later got better at gripping it closer to the front where it tapers down more.
From a styling perspective this does do a better job than using a separate brush and blow dryer. She’s mentioned a few times that her hair turns out more “tamed” than using both because there’s no blow dryer to blow it all over the place.
So far she’s only used the flat brush attachment rather than the one for curling or creating waves. If you’re looking for extra body or volume I could imagine that being a better option.
Other than having to choke up on the handle in order to get a safe grip she’s mentioned that the size makes it difficult to store on the counter. Indeed its length kind of makes it hang off the end of the counter where it’s stored while her Dyson hair dryer takes up little space. It might be great if T3 were to include a vertical stand in future iterations to minimize the footprint.
Other than that, this has been a home-run in the styling department and has taken a few minutes off of her morning routine!

Good speed and Coverage

I tend to have a lot of issues with WiFi coverage in my house. The cable line for the modem comes into my basement office and there is a lot of ductwork between the basement and the rest of the house, so the signal degrades to the rest of the house. For that reason I've been using mesh networking for the past few years with mixed success.
There are a couple things that set the Linksys Atlas apart from some of the other WiFi routers I've used.
First is the ease of setup. I like the way the Linksys mobile app sets up the network. It finds a new node once it's powered on and just goes about setting it up with minimal input. in fact, a couple years ago during COVID lockdown my in-laws needed a new router and assistance with setting it up. They ordered a Linksys and I was able to set it up for them while standing outside with the base on the other side of a window. The same goes with this system with ease of setup.
The other thing I like is that either unit can be the base or the satellite and both have multiple LAN jacks. This way I can hardwire something upstairs near the base if it's picky about wireless network conditions, like my smart TV. It will occasionally drop a wireless connection for some reason, so I have it hardwired to the satellite.
The satellite can be either hardwired to the base or set up wirelessly. This works well, but in my situation with the ductwork between them I opted to run an ethernet cable through the floor in one corner to the satellite. This results in amazing speeds upstairs from the network and in the basement from the base.
Throughput is excellent. I'm getting 500-600kbps on my phone which is a WiFi 6 enabled device. Note that to see speeds like this you will need something built in the past 2-3 years that supports WiFi 6, otherwise you'll see still-respectable speeds lower than this.
Coverage throughout the house is very good. I have the base in the basement and the satellite in the middle of the first floor. This provides coverage throughout the entire house, including the second floor above, including my son's room with his smart TV and gaming PC on the far end of the house. Again, this is where WiFI 6 really shines.
They run warm but don't get overly hot. Be sure to leave plenty of room around the top where the vent holes are.
I like the fact that these have power switches. I like to cycle power on my router once in a while and this makes it easier. Also, there is a reset BUTTON on the bottom, not the usual recessed hole that requires finding a paper clip or SIM tool to press if you need to reset these!
The units are tall but fairly unassuming. They look attractive on a bookshelf or entertainment center without calling a lot of attention to themselves. Included in the box are the units, power supplies and a very short ethernet cable to connect to your cable modem.
I would not hesitate to recommend these for ease of setup and performance for a large number of data-hungry devices.

Good alternative to built-in mic

I've been using this mic with a Panasonic G7 MFT camera with good success. I've found that it works much better than the built in mic and has a lot of interesting enhancements over the stock mic.
First off though, I was never able to pair this with my Z Fold 3 running Android. After several failed attempts I tried out my iPad Mini and it paired immediately with no issues at all.
One complaint here is that the error messages in the software annoy me. I was greeted with "Peekaboo, I can't find you." This is the kind of item you would use for semi-professional use shooting weddings or documentaries, and the software is decidedly unprofessional. When the mic is out of range of Bluetooth I got something to the effect of "Where'd you go, I can't find you."
The software itself is very useful though. You're presented with a dashboard showing a VU meter and level controls as well as the mic's battery level. I like the idea of being able to monitor levels while sitting away from the camera, as it's good to sit next to the camera during interviews rather than behind it sometimes. Also for interviews, there's an input for a second external mic so you can hear the questions being asked or mic up someone off camera. You can also tweak settings in the software to EQ the mic with vocal presence and noise reduction.
My favorite feature is the choice to record the same thing in both channels (this is a mono mic) or apply a 10db pad to one channel. I've been in the situation before where someone talks louder once they're comfortable on camera and ended up with some distortion. With the pad on you're ensured that if that happens you should have some quieter, recoverable audio on the other channel. Pretty smart!
The mic itself has controls on the side to add 10 or 20db for quieter situations. I noticed there was a tad more noise floor with the preamp boosted, but that's to be expected.
The mount is sturdy and has good noise isolation. I didn't notice a lot of handling noise when running handheld and of course it's dead silent of mechanical noise on a tripod. Included are a foam windscreen and a fuzzy Rycote Windjammer. The Windjammer fits over the foam and leaves a ton of fuzz behind, at least at first. I took it off and it looked like my cat had been playing with it. Again, another small complaint is the huge Joby logo on the windscreen. Until a few years ago I've always regarded Joby as someone who makes inexpensive tripods, so again it looks a little amateurish.
I actually really appreciate the box it came in. The inside has die-cut high density foam for each component and the box itself is very sturdy. I will be keeping it to store everything and transport the mic in the field when I need to and know it'll be safe!
The mic itself is very sturdy and seems to be made of mostly metal with just the base made out of plastic. The mount is at it's center of gravity, so it doesn't make the camera seem forward or back heavy and doesn't add much weight overall When you take the cover off the mic chamber seems a little fragile, but I noticed it seems to be mounted in a way that allows it to move freely a little, so it would probably survive a drop with the cover on especially.

Will this work with an iPhone 12Max with a Mous Limitless 3.0 case. Anyone foolish enough to use any gimble w/o some sort of protection is just asking for trouble IMO. I really want to pick one up but not if it won’t work with a case.
I don't know about that specific case, but the magnetic clip seems to work with every case I've thrown at it on my S21 Ultra.
That said, the clip and magnet are really strong and I would feel comfortable trusting them under most conditions

I recently purchased this monitor from my local Bestbuy, and I cannot get audio through it. Does this monitor have built-in speakers? I am unable to find information online regarding whether this monitor has integrated speakers.
It does not have speakers. There is a headphone jack on the back you can connect to amplified speakers

This is just a monitor. It needs to be connected to a PC, either a desktop or a laptop (as a second screen)
