Amazing!

I've never played the Metal Gear games before, and i don't own a PS3, but after playing this game at a friend's place, i was amazed. The story was excellent, after being caught up on whatever i'd missed from previous games. The graphics are crisp and never once did i see lag in the game. This game has convinced me of the need to buy the PS3, and this will be the first title i pick up. It was so addicting that i couldn't stop, the story and game flow seamlessly, and the effects and music are deep. I would love if this game was ported onto the 360, but i doubt it would be as pleasing of an experience. I'm getting a PS3 for this wonderful game. Buy it!
What's great about it: Excellent game, incredible graphics, awesome story
What's not so great: wish it was on the 360
I would recommend this to a friend!

Freaky Fun Fantastic

i primarily prefer games not for myself, but for me to be able to play with friends. When i first trid Halo 1, i didn't think much of it, some shooter, more intuitive controls than others at the time, but the reason i bought the xbox 1 and Halo 1 was for multiplayer gaming with friends. Since then i've been hooked and xbox live has recently become a huge draw for me. This game though lacking in the multiplayer department is one of the few games i loved. I'll look at a game, if it says 1 player, or no multiplayer, i'll leave it on the shelf, as i did with this one at first, until i watched as a friend played it. Amazing, the graphics are unreal, the weapons and gameplay are amazing. The sci fi horror is incredible, the abilities you can aquire allow you to have a different experience anytime. If you like shooters at all, like Halo games and Call of Duty games, this is an absolute must have, you collection and gaming experience is incomplete without it. Even without the multiplayer experience matching Halo and COD, you have to at the very least try this amazing game.
What's great about it: Great game, great graphics, great sci fi horror
What's not so great: lacks multiplayer capability

A True Best Buy

This little thing is awesome. You can't really appreciate its small size until you actually see it in your hands, this is the first external drive i've purchased and the ones i've seen from my friends are huge, the size of books in some cases. This one is about the size of a large mp3 player, or a pda phone, though a bit thicker. Overall tiny, about dollar bill size. Easy to store in a laptop case, and the file transfer rate is incredible. I backed up my entire computer, about 50 gigs at the time in about in a short time. It comes with a program to protect files even after deletion, just in case of an error, all the options are customizable. Huge farily cheap storage, and dependability of Toshiba, good choice. I highly recommend this product. If you have lots of media, want portability, and don't have any backup of music and movies and pictures, this is a MUST have.
What's great about it: tiny, works very well
What's not so great: a bit pricy, but i think its fair

New and improved?

Apparentlyt he old headsets, which featured a proprietary connection on the controller, were not functioning well, or a new company was picked to do the the headsets. First off, the old ones didn't seem to function well, i have one of the older ones that don't seem to make contact correctly because of the way proprietary connection works. My mic will show as constantly transmitting on xbox live even though i'm saying nothing and even when i cover the mic itself. That, and recently my controller has unexpectedly shut down even with full battery life, though when i disconnect the mic, no problems.
SO... i buy this new one, works fine, sensitivity is correct, no worries. The ONE problem, the volume and mute switch are on the cord as though it were a cell phone headset. So you may have trouble using during actual gameplay, the old version featured these controls at the connection to the controller, maybe that's why it didn't work right.
Also, i've noticed the connection is essentially the mini mic jack that most cell phone accessories use, i recall trying one before buying the actual headset, before i had xbox live. I found out that no matter what headset you have, it won't work if you don't have an xbox live account, so you may also want to try some of those hands free sets thay may be lying around your house. I still recommend buying the combo xbox live 3 month/controller/400 points pack. you save 10 bucks and get the points for free essentially.
What's great about it: works well, sensitive enough
What's not so great: volume controls are in line and not at connection to controller

Luis Llosa directs Tom Berenger and Billy Zane in the action film Sniper, which comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, and is preferable to the standard full-frame image. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. Subtitles are accessible in both of those languages as well. Supplemental materials are limited to the theatrical trailer. This Columbia/TriStar release will please fans of the film and genre enthusiasts.

Awesome movie

The story of a famed and skilled sniper (from training) with zero kills being paired with a seasoned veteran sniper to assasinate a drug lord. The sequels weren't as good, but Tom Berenger likes this particular role, and he does well in it. Good ole guy movie, check it out, especially at this price.
What's great about it: Good old action movie
What's not so great: Not the best storyline

Return of Downey
on June 25, 2008

Curses, hollywood politics sometimes never let good movies get widespread publicity, but this is an excellent movie. The genre is a detective-mystery-comedy. It has some witty sidesplitting laughs while featuring serious who done it plot. This film marked Robert Downey Jr's comeback if you ask me, he does a great job in this movie, and at the 4.99 price it's well worth it, i would have paid 9 as well, it was that good. If it came out today, i think it would have had a big theatrical release. Great film.
What's great about it: Great, witty funny film
What's not so great: Didn't get big theatrical release

Geoff Murphy directs action hero Steven Seagal in Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, which comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include production notes and eight different theatrical trailers. This Warner Bros. release does a superb job of presenting the film, although DVD collectors will find little else of value.

Not worth it, save for the fight scenes
on June 24, 2008

The fight scenes were good, its Segal as the same old character, only this one has a name to match Under Siege 1, other than that, its the same persona as all the other movies. Story makes no sense, and the character doesn't fit in. It's the Die Hard Wrong Place at the Wrong Time scenario, but with martial arts, and on a train. This movie is to Segal, as Snakes on a Plane is to Sam Jackson, only not nearly as funny. I personally find Under Siege 1 to be my favorite Segal Film, but tied to his early work, this one however, thouroughly dissappoints. Pretend it didn't happen and just casually watch it on tv, or go for a bargain rental.
What's great about it: Decent fight scenes... that's about it
What's not so great: story totally unrealistic, worst segal movie ever
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Steven Seagal stars as a cook struggling to keep a heavily armed ship's nuclear arsenal out of the hands of a team of menacing terrorists in this action-packed thriller-adventure from Warner Home Video. Offered for viewing in either the original 1.85:1 widescreen theatrical aspect ratio (enhanced for widescreen TVs) or standard 1.33:1 full-screen pan-and-scan, this release offers audio in closed-captioned English Dolby Digital 5.1, along with Spanish and French Dolby Digital Surround with optional English Spanish and French subtitles. Limited extra features include production notes and a theatrical trailer.

Best Segal Movie, Pretty good movie overall

Sorry but the thought that a Navy SEAL is working as a cook on board a battleship is a bit far fetched, the story says it was due to a discipline issue in which he punched out his previous commanding officer, he would have been probably discharged. Then again, i don't even watch movies for their realism. The film itself is action packed and it is Segal playing essentialy the same role since Above The Law and every other of his movies, but in this context it finally makes sense. Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey are excellent villains. A must have for both action fans and martial arts fans. The sequel, Under Siege 2, not so good. As i said, its pretty much the exact same charcter, only in this one its the same name, but not as good as the original. If you like this one, i also recommend Above the Law and Hard to Kill. Segal may not be a Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris, but he has a place in any dvd collection.
What's great about it: Awesome action, fight scenes, great villains
What's not so great: unrealistic

My New Favorite Band
on May 27, 2008

This is well worth it, CD, plus 5 acquistic tracks, forgive the spelling, plus bonus dvd, and still only 13.99. That's a bargain. I stumbled on their music when a friend gave me a mixed burned cd which included 'I'm So Sick'. It's a good song but i still didn't bring my attention to the band untill i saw the video 'cameo' on Live Free or Die Hard at the start of the film. I've since purchased their music and love it. They have the emotional content of Evanescence and Linkin Park, while brining out their almost metal punk style in a bold unique fashion. Enough of me sounding like a critic for some newspaper, check them out. The cool thing, best buy lets you sample the tracks on the album before you buy, go for it. One of my new favorite bands for certain.
What's great about it: Awesome sound, Evanescence meets Linkin Park, but genuinely unique
What's not so great: None, and this is an excellent buy, it's a con if you don't buy it
I would recommend this to a friend!

Intriguing Movie
on May 13, 2008

I wasn't expecting much of this film and saw in theaters with friends. The store is interesting and subtle. Matt Damon does an excellent job filling the role, he really became his character in this one, and is far different from other roles he has played. What is scary, is that many of the events depicted could have plausibly happened that way. From World War II to the Bay of Pigs, spies existed and continue to be an intiguing topic. Whether you want the smooth gentleman assasin James Bond, straight out of ficiton, or something more down to earth, these stories never cease to fascinate. Definitely a nice plot twist at the end. This is a suspense drama for the record, hardly an action film if that's what you're seeking. This is a good popcorn film and worth buying. I may own a lot of movies, and may watch even more, but i only buy ones that i find actually entertaining and worthy of replay. Check it out, it's a good one.
What's great about it: The birth of the CIA, well written
What's not so great: Just need Ray Liotta to have the Goodfellas Cast lol
