The origin of the Borg has been debated and haevily explored in the game Star Trek Legacy. That game included the voice acting of all the series' captains from Original series to Enterprise. Basically, the story goest that Q exposed the Next Generation crew to the Borg so that the federation had some warning of what to be prepared for. What is mentioned in the game was that the Borg were not brought by Q, but were already on their way to Earth. This coincides with what happens in Star Trek First Contact. The Borg go back in time to assimilate the Earth, The Enterprise E stops them, they did manage to send a beacon for backup into space, and in the Enterprise era the surviving Borg from First Contact fight Archer's crew, which is in this dvd, and they did also attempt to send a beacon. So the Borg may have set up a paradox in which they contact themselves to begin a journey to Earth from the far Delta Quadrant. Watch this dvd and the First Contact movie and your set. Included in this dvd is the Series Finale of Voyager, AWESOME episode by the way. The only series not on this dvd is the Original Series Era, as Kirk never encountered the Borg. Have fun with this dvd, Resistance is Futile.
What's great about it: The federations greatest enemy
What's not so great: origin story is never explored

Alex Proyas' striking virtual reality/film noir hybrid Dark City comes to DVD with a pleasantly surprising amount of extra features, including two audio commentaries -- one with Proyas, writers Lem Dobbs and David Goyer, and production designer Patrick Tatopoulos and another with critic Roger Ebert, one of the film's biggest supporters at the time of its release. The disc also includes comparisons to Fritz Lang's classic Metropolis (which inspired Dark City's angular, retro-yet-timeless look), set designs, cast and crew biographies/filmographies, and the theatrical trailer. Along with the film's widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio, these bonuses make the Dark City disc an exciting addition to the collection of any fan of intelligent sci-fi films.

WOW!

Wow, great flick. Think vampire alien zombies that control peoples minds and you're the only guy that has caught on. Very weird, one of those what is fantasy what is reality yet confusing convulded story. It's done intentionally, you're thrown into the plot along with the main character. Great sci fi flick, should have been a big box office except so many movies similar in style or effect have surfaced, so even with it's interesting story it may be doomed to home video. Like Equilibrium, a good buy. Check this film out. Oh, Keifer Sutherland has a very interesting role, it reminds me of how Philip Seymore Hoffman got into his role for Capote. This movie is worth it, and then replay value is moderate to catch the stuff you may have missed. Not a favorite, but i think it was worth it, and i was happy with my purchase, certainly worth watching.
What's great about it: Good movie, bizarre, kind of scary
What's not so great: somewhat confusing at first

Great episdoe and parody, Star Wars fans will love it. I wish it had come out sooner, i already purchased it off the zune marketplace so i have it mobile, but it's nice to have it on dvd. This and the Family Guy Stars Wars parody are good choices, try and find a good deal though. Unless you're really a fan of both Robot Chicken AND Star Wars, you may not feel like parting with that much cash for a 30 minute episode.
What's great about it: Great paradoy
What's not so great: Price for a thirty minute episode

Love or Hate
on July 14, 2008

They gave away one of the main plot points in the previews. Othere than that you will either love or hate this movie. It will be iether aggravating or suspenseful. If you're clever enough to figure out the plot, like any movie, suspect anyone and everyone, you may not enjoy this film as much. The one bad thing, once you watch the movie there is almost no point to seeing it a again, except to catch the bits you might have missed, but to watch it more than that, low replay value. Great movie for a group to talk about later.
What's great about it: Great movie, several perspectives of the same tragedy
What's not so great: Gave too much away in the previews

Interesting new perspective

First, these films, though meant to be an inbetween story to the current film franchise, are from the perspective of each filmaker. So they are 'technically' within the exact same Batman universe as the Christoper Nolan series. Each depiction of Batman is different in costume, similar to each theatrical film has its own perspective. It is essentially the exact same batman. New characters are introduced with the background of how batman is now being recieved by the public. Is he a vigilante, is he a hero, is he just another crazy guy running around. Not quite as over the top of the Spiderman hate/love relationship Peter Parker shares with his public.
Each film is almost as though watching a different comic come to life, just as the current films are compilations of various original Batman comics. I think its a good buy, not great, but if you're a fan of Batman, this is a must have. Oh, it's voiced by the same actor from Batman The Animated Series, and The Adventures of Batman and Robin. He does the voice of Batman in all 6. Buy it, i enjoyed it and i think anyone else would. Oh, it also relates to some of his original training as a prequel even to Batman Begins.
What's great about it: Great short films
What's not so great: first one starts off a bit 'odd'

Fun family movie

Good for families, clean and fairly funny. Good to gather around and get a few laughs, not as outrageous and over the top as other Ben Stiller comedies, but still good. At this price it's fair, i might wait, but it's a good buy. Go for it.
What's great about it: Good wholesome family comedy
What's not so great: Not as outrageous or funny as their other work

These are some of the best episodes and probably have more to do with the upcoming movie, but this is an excellent set, similar to what the Star Trek series has done with some of the various Borg, Captain, Time Travel sets. I wish they would release a conspiracy set of the series, during its syndication on fx, a marathon of all the conspiracy story arc was done to refresh or catch up everyone on the story line. It culminated with what was advertised as the full disclosure episode, they seemingly reveal everything about everyone. This episode beat the series final episode by far. As per this particular dvd on sale, buy it if you're a fan, and if you're not, it is easy to follow. Check it out.
What's great about it: classic, funny, spooky favorites from the series
What's not so great: There should be a conspiracy special dvd

Package Description: The names of great conquerors are few and fearsome. Atilla the Hun. Genghis Khan. That guy whose fists you attacked with your face in fifth grade. And now two more: Pinky and the Brain are the names. World Dominaton is the aim. The two genetically modified Acme Labs mice began 'toon life in supporting segments on Animaniacs. But humble origins could not keep these wannabe rulers from landing their own show. Today, TV. Tomorrow, the world. With a persistence even Wile E. Coyote would admire, methodical Brain and no-brainer sidekick Pinky execute one flawed, gadget-driven scheme after another. Are you pondering what I'm pondering? Brain asks. With these 22 specially chosen episodes from the show's 1995-1998 run, you'll be laughing more than pondering.

Narf! This was an awesome tv show, funny and ironic and a good choice for kids or nostalgia. I recommend it but realize this type of cartoon comedy isn't for everyone.
What's great about it: One of my favorite cartoons as a kid

The brief but eventful life of actor and martial arts trailblazer Bruce Lee is portrayed in this drama, based on a biography written by his widow Linda Lee Caldwell. Lee is introduced to the study of martial arts as a child living in Hong Kong by his father (Ric Young); the father dreamed that a demonic armored dragon would take his son from him, and wanted young Bruce to be able to protect himself. Bruce continues his training as he grows to adulthood, and after the cocky teenaged Lee (Jason Scott Lee, no relation to Bruce) seriously injures a prominent British citizen while fighting a gang of troublemakers at a dance, he's sent to San Francisco. While working as a dishwasher, Bruce begins to study philosophy, and in time develops a personal martial arts discipline, Jeet Kune-Do, which blends Kung Fu fighting techniques with lessons gained from his philosophical research. Bruce decides to open a martial arts academy on the advice of his fiancée Linda (Lauren Holly); Linda and Bruce encounter resistance as a mixed-race couple, especially from Linda's mother Vivian (Michael Learned), and Bruce earns the enmity of traditional Chinese martial arts experts for his new style. But after a strong showing in several public tournaments, Bruce's fighting skill and charisma attracts the attention of TV producer Bill Krieger (Robert Wagner). Bruce is cast as Kato, the karate-trained sidekick on the series The Green Hornet, and while the show is short-lived in America, it's a huge success in Asia, leading to a series of films based around Bruce's remarkable fighting skills. Sadly, shortly before the release of the film that would make him a major screen star in the United States, Enter The Dragon, a mysterious brain disorder sends Lee into a coma that soon kills him. In a tragedy with eerie timing, Bruce Lee's real-life son Brandon Lee died shortly before this film was released, the result of an accidental shooting while completing the picture The Crow.

An interesting tale

The most important thing about this movie, is that the Bruce Lee philosophy of martial arts is well conveyed. You get his intent and his beliefs, and you experience the basic story of what his life was like. Obviously to compress to a movie you have to rework some things. Worth watching, buying i'm not as sure, but it wouldn't hurt your collection any, and there are good fight scenes. The movie also includes how Bruce Lee was Kato in The Green Hornet tv show, a rarely known fact, which is why in Kill Bill the crazy 88 dressed as Kato in homage.
What's great about it: You get the crux of the Bruce Lee story
What's not so great: historically inaccurate

A must have buy

This particular version features many new and different scenes. I won't spoil them, but Kyle Reese does come out in one of them, originally cut out of the sequel entirely. Look for other scenes that were restored. A previous comment indicated that this film does not quite mesh with the time travel concept and in some ways that is correct. There have been many revamps and comics and novels describing all the what ifs, but i find with time travel movies, very few actually build a logical timeline of events, this one did pretty good and i don't see how you can have terminator 1 or 2 without the other. You must have both, they are worth it. Oh, the dvd rom features are glitchy at best, though it does come with an HD digital copy, its only on ROM and not downloadable, and the software is not fully compatible with vista, and its a RAM hog on xp. Just buy the blu ray version if you want high definition. The steel case is a nice touch for this dvd as well.
What's great about it: Restores lots of extra footage
What's not so great: Doesn't quite compare to the ultimate edition
