Nice budget buds
on August 13, 2023

The Anker Liberty 4 NC buds are a great middle of the road set of earbuds. You get a full featured set of features without the high price tag. The noise cancelling works okay. I've used buds with better noise cancellation but not by much. The included different sized eartips are comfortable and you are sure to find a size that works for you. Battery life is impressive considering the small size. They are rated for 10 hours of use and I believe that to be accurate. But keep in mind if you have the noise cancellation on it will reduce the run time, but it is still good. I really like the charging case. It's small and holds a lot of extra battery power to have in reserve. Supposedly it holds an extra 40 hours of power! That is incredible. Past sets I've used usually only hold about one charge worth if that. As for sound, they are pretty darned good. A lack of good bass has always been an issue for me with earbuds. But the bass in these is respectable. Vocals are clear and overall sound is excellent. There is an app available that is nice. Better than most included apps. Overall, if you are in the market for a set of buds with great sound, good noise cancelling and impressive battery life for a good price, I would highly recommend these.

Perfect size
on June 13, 2023

When I first saw the box that the Razer Atlas Tempered Glass Gaming Mouse comes in my first thought was "this is going to be way to big!". As it turns out, it's the perfect size. Obviously bigger than most as it needs to be for gaming. But it fits perfectly on my desk and is not in the way at all. Looks wise it's nothing special. Just a big square piece of black tempered glass. That's fine for me because I really don't like anything flashy. There are other glass mats out there but from what I've seen most are even bigger. I can't imagine needing anything bigger even for intense gaming. The backside is covered completely with a rubber grip material. Not just small grips on the corners. This is great because this thing is not going to move no matter how intense your gaming is. It's well made and even though it is tempered glass, you should still be careful not to drop anything on it or set anything heavy on it. It will survive spirited gaming, but probably not slamming something on it. So far the surface looks like new even after a month of use. No scratches at all. As for cleaning, I just keep a microfiber cloth handy. In use, this is just pure joy. I have used it with several different mice and they all work so smooth with it. It's one of those things where you don't notice how good it is until you try using a mouse without it. It really does help with precision pinpointing. The moue just glides so effortlessly. And it's quiet. No scratching of rough sounds when gliding the mouse. This isn't something a lot of people might think they need. But it honestly makes your PC use even better. Particularly during gaming.

Absolutely Incredible!
on May 23, 2023

This is probably one of the best entries into a gaming desktop PC out there without going overboard into the big $$$$ range. Everything about the Corsair Vengeance i7400 13th Gen i5 with RTX 3070 screams quality. For most, a gaming PC that is absolutely top of the line is not an option. They can run several thousand dollars. For others, they might like to build a PC. Sounds fun, but it's a lot of work. So this is where this PC fits nicely. It isn't the best of the best, but it's more than most need. And as far as the components it's what you might build yourself anyways. The case is a Corsair 4000 series. If you know anything about gaming PC's then you know this is one of the highest rated (and selling) cases out there. It is built with cooling in mind. The airflow is excellent with a large mesh-like front and large openings on the back & top. This combined with the six fans will keep things running cool. If you are someone who likes to tinker with things, it is very easy to access. The GPU, RAM and even CPU are easy to get to making future upgrades a breeze. It ships with two sticks of 16 GB DDR5 5600 RAM but there are two open slots to ad more if you like. And the ram is Corsair Vengeance, some of the best out there. The graphics card is an Nvidia RTX 3070. Not the newest generation of card, but not old either and still a high end card. The CPU is a 13th Gen i5. The days of the i5 being inferior to either the i7 or even the i9 are over. This is an amazing CPU that is fast. More than enough for a gaming machine. The RGB lighting is nice and all customizable. And I should mention this is a very quiet PC for a gamer. Even under load it is one of the quietest desktops I have ever used. Like I said earlier, this PC just exudes quality. So how does it perform? Well the best word I can use for it is "smooth". Everything from web browsing to gaming just runs smooth. I haven't had any crashing during gaming and it has been able to run every game I have tossed at it great. I'm using this with a 27" 4k 120HRz monitor so needless to say I wanted to see how things run at the highest resolution and maxed out settings. There has been nothing that has hung or crashed. Just smooth game play. Even at these settings frame rates have been in the 60's and 70's. Now most are never going to run games at these settings so it goes without saying at more traditional gaming resolutions the frame rates are very high. I can't imagine even the newest AAA games not working great. I like the fact that there is very little "bloat" as far as programs go. Nothing worse than setting up a new PC and needing to delete a ton of unwanted programs. Not an issue here. Also, I do a lot of photography so I wanted to see how well programs such as Lightroom ran on it. I can honestly say if you are creative minded and use a PC for photography or graphic design then I think this will work great for you. I have certain photo applications (de-noising and such) that can sometimes take a few minutes to complete with other computers. We are down to seconds to complete them now. Just amazing. There are a ton of pre-built gaming machines on the market. Most cut corners to save money. Not with this Corsair. All of the components are top quality and it looks & works great. Very highly recommended!

Outstanding Standard Zoom
on May 23, 2023
Posted by: Duluthian
I've been running the new Sony 20-70mm F4 G lens thru the paces and I have to say, this is a real winner! Let me start by saying I have been into photography for many years. Back to the film days even ;-) I've shoot with just about every system out there. For the past several years I've been shooting with Sony full-frame bodies and I couldn't be happier. Although I usually use prime lenses mostly from the G-Master line, I think it's important to keep a standard zoom on hand. Lets face, sometimes you just don't want to carry a bag full of primes around. I've tried a handful of lenses I would considered standard zooms for Sony and although they were okay, none really wowed me. Until now. The 20-70mm strikes a great balance of weight, size, build quality and image quality. As a G series lens, you can bet it's well made. It feels great in the hand yet weighs less than you might expect. I'm thankful for the proper aperture ring (I'm old school :-) ) and the switches to lock the ring or de-click the ring are a nice touch. The zoom and focus rings feel and work great. The big selling point of this lens over others in this category is the zoom range. Other lenses usually start at 24m or 28mm. Now going all the way out to 20mm might not sound like a big deal, but trust me it is. Now making a lens that goes from 20-70mm is one thing, making it perform well is another. Sharpness at 20mm is outstanding. Even wide open at F4 the images are sharp. And like most lenses things only get better as you stop down to F5.6 or F8. Many zooms suffer from being great at one end yet soft at the other. Not this time. I have found the 70mm end to be just as good. Another big plus is that even though this isn't a true macro lens, it's macro capabilities are very good particularly at the 70mm end. This all helps take it a step farther as a great "all around" lens. I wouldn't hesitate to use this for anything. Also, I should mention that the AF is blazing fast, silent and accurate. I was a little surprised the lens doesn't have image stabilization built in. But, almost all Sony full-frame bodies have stabilization built in so it's not a deal breaker. If you are looking for an upgrade from the kit zoom that you might have gotten with your camera, this is a great option.

Perfect home printer
on May 4, 2023
Posted by: Duluthian
So far I am very happy with the Canon G3270 printer. It has everything you need for a good home or small office printer. The scanning and copying work great. But the printing is the real show stopper. I've used it for documents and some photo printing as well. All have turned out fantastic. Although you wouldn't generally think of an office style printer such as this for photo printing, I've found the results using Canon glossy photo paper to be impressive. The two things that stand out to me the most are how easy it was to set up, and the generous amount of ink. Using the Canon online guide for setting it up had me printing in no time. The Canon print utility is very easy to use. The software is much easier to use than what I've experienced with other brands. Wireless printing with both my laptop and my phone have worked perfectly. As for the ink, I love the new way of dealing with ink! Instead of the small cartridges that never seem to last very long, you fill each color with a bottle of ink. And these are sizeable bottles that I have no doubt will last a very long time. Far longer than any previous ink cartridges I've used. And filling the ink is so simple. Just tip the bottle and let it flow. Each color has a keyed tip so it's impossible to put the wrong color in each ink holder. Brilliant! Can't think of a single bad thing about the G3270.

Helps with my ear irritation
on April 25, 2023
Posted by: Duluthian
A couple of years ago I started wearing hearing aids. That, plus I love to listen to music with ear buds & headphones leads me to occasional ear dryness and irritation. More so from the hearing aids. I wear them all day and take them out in the evening. It often happens that my ears will be very itchy and dry. Been using this product and I have to admit it seems to work. Just a few drops after taking out my hearing aids and I’m noticing much less itching. Looking over the ingredients, it is mostly a mix of various fruit & seed oils. Makes me feel better knowing it is mostly a naturally derived product. So far, I haven’t run into any side effects. I haven’t found the need to put more drops in. Just the original dose of three to four drops seems to do the trick. In fact, I find that wiping my ears out gently about an hour after using this that everything feels great for the rest of the night. My only complaint is the tiny size of the bottle. Don’t think the bottle will last very long. Not sure if a larger size is available, but if so I’ll most likely go with it next time.

Great sound & lightweight
on April 21, 2023
Posted by: Duluthian
Really enjoying these new Sony WH-CH720N headphones! So far I’ve found them to have great audio performance and they are surprisingly lightweight. The sound right out of the box is great. But to really bring the sound to life, download and use the Sony headphone app. The additional abilities the app gives in adjusting the sound to your liking make a difference. The headphones feel nicely built and I’m really impressed with how lightweight they are. They are really comfortable and unlikely to cause fatigue from wearing them for extended periods of time. The controls are pretty standard and easy to understand. The noise cancellation works very well. This is a feature that has really improved on headphones over the years. And to be honest, with how well the cushions fit over your ears you might find you really don’t need the noise cancellation in many situations. Additional features such as hands free calling and ability to use them with the included standard 3.5mm headphone cable work great as well. A USB to USB-C cable is included for charging, but like most products these days no charging block is included. Battery life is said to be around 35 hours and I would say that’s a honest estimate. Overall these are a great set of headphones that are easy to recommend.

Decent full featured security system
on February 23, 2023
Posted by: Duluthian
I've used a number of home camera systems over the years but always avoided wired systems. Primarily because I didn't want to deal with running the cables. However, the wireless systems are nice but not always reliable. Particularly if the signal has to pass thru brick walls and such. This system (I have the 8 camera version. Exactly the same as the 4 camera) comes with everything you need. Cameras, cables and the hard drive. Running the cables isn't as bad as I expected. Just figure out where you want to place the cameras and measure out the cables to make sure you have enough. This shouldn't be an issue as the cables are more than long enough. The cameras are indoor or outdoor cameras. So far the harsh winter weather hasn't created any problems. Having a local hard drive is the way to go. You can still access your cameras from anywhere, but you have the footage stored locally. This is a good way to go instead of worrying about everything being online. The entire system is pretty easy to use and full featured. If there is a downside it's that the cameras are 1080p. These days you would expect 4K. However, those systems are out there but cost much more. And at the end of the day 1080p works fine. Also, 1080p takes up less hard drive space enabling you to store more footage. The day/night switching works well and the video even at night is decent. Good enough to identify someone from the image. Motion detection works great. You can even use this with Alexa & Chromecast. I would say for most home owners (or small businesses) this will provide you with everything you need and with good quality.

Pocket sized power
on February 19, 2023
Posted by: Duluthian
So far I have been very happy using this MagSafe portable charger with my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Design wise there isn't much to comment on. It's smaller than the phone and what you see in the photos show it all. USB-C input for charging and the power button on the side. That's it. The magnet sticks well too. my phone. I've tried it without a case, with an Apple brand MagSafe case and a non-MagSafe case. It sticks well all three ways. However, with the non-MagSafe case it's a bit loose and the charging is a bit slower. So using it with an actual MagSafe case or no case at all is the way to go. As far as power goes, 5,000mAh isn't the largest capacity charger out there. But, more capacity means a bigger charger (and more expensive). This works great for topping off the phone during the day if I start to run low. And if I run the phone completely down, it has enough capacity to fully charge the phone. I've already had a situation where I left the house having forgot to charge the phone. I simply stuck this to my phone and I was good to go. All in all, very handy for any iPhone with MagSafe charging.

Small yet mighty
on February 10, 2023

I have been pleasantly surprised with the Philips Norelco OneBlade. Given it’s small, lightweight design I didn’t set my expectations very high. I’ve had more trimmers & razors than I can even remember. But this has turned out to be an awesome tool that will be easy to travel with. I tend to have a tough beard that can be hard to trim just right. But I’ve had no issues with trimming my face. The pivoting motion is very smooth and comfortable. I’ve now tried using it elsewhere and more of the same. Just a clean trim. And I have to say I am very impressed with the lack of hair getting stuck or yanked out causing pain. So far it’s all been effortless and pain free. The trimming attachments work fine and stay put. I love the fact that this is charged with a USB cable! Charging it this way just means that’s one less charger I need to bring with when traveling. I can just use the same charger that I now use for my phone and laptop. This is really so small, light and can be used to to trim anywhere on your body that it’s really the only trimmer you will need for traveling.

Make your home an internet haven with this versatile Linksys Velop wireless Wi-Fi system. Three identical tri-band dual-stream AC2200 routers, each equipped with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor, deliver lightning-fast internet. Equipped with Bluetooth 4.0/LE, this Linksys Velop wireless Wi-Fi system is simple to set up and pairs easily with computers, tablets and smart devices.

Simple & Powerful!
By Duluthian from Duluth, MN
I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical of the claims made in regards to the Linksys Velop Wi-Fi system. Lets face it, we have all heard the claims of more powerful Wi-Fi regarding the latest and greatest routers before, right? Well let me tell you that this time around it is no joke! Not only is this system amazingly simple to hook up, but it works as advertised!
To begin, the three tower kit is elegantly packaged it a very nice box. Aside from the three devices you won't find much else in the box but that is kind of the point of this system. Simplicity. You get the towers (smaller than I expected them to be), one Ethernet cord and three power units. As for instructions, there are very few and that is just fine. You get a simple guide telling you to download the Linksys App from there website, Google Play Store or iTunes. Trust me, that's all you need.
Set up once you have the app downloaded couldn't be more simple. Easy to understand instructions will guide you thru setting up the main unit (any one of the three will work. They are all identical). It only takes a few minutes but that may take a bit longer depending on your internet connection. As soon as you have the first unit set up it will then ask you if you want to hook up another unit and so on and so on until you are done. If you need more than the initial three, individual units or a two pack can be purchased and added to the system. It really is the easiest router system I have ever set up.
As for the app, it allows for a good amount of control over the Velop. Tech junkies who demand only the greatest of control over their internet settings might find it a bit too simple for them. However, for the vast majority of users you will find all the control you need. Parental settings, guest network settings and so on are all here. And with the app on your phone or tablet, you can control the system even when you are away.
Each unit has two Ethernet ports. The main unit will need one of them to connect to your internet modem. After that, they are all free to be used as you like (if you choose to be wired up at all). I have the main unit right by my Mac Mini so I have that hard wired in. Everything else in the house (a couple of laptops & tablets, phones and a couple of Echo Dots) are all using the Wi-Fi.
Ok, so how well does it work? Simply put, very very well. I had a very good router set up before this (also a Linksys). The big downfall to most routers is that even if it is very powerful you tend to lose some speed with distance. Power with most routers will give you distance but not always speed. Having run a series of speed tests, I am getting every ounce of internet speed that I am paying for in every corner of the house with the Velop. Literally, no drop off in speed even from the most distant of the three towers and that one is two floors down! Before, I had full speeds in the room with the router and although I had full house coverage, the speeds were down to less than half on the extreme fringes of the range. Now you can always hook up range extenders with most routers but that only extends your range, not your speed. With the way the Velop system works not only does it increase your reach, it maintains your speeds as well. Please don't confuse this with it making your Wi-Fi faster. No router can make the speeds coming into your home faster than what you are paying for. But this system keeps the Wi-Fi speeds consistent all thru the home and that is a major advantage over a traditional router with range extenders. Ever tried watching a tv show or movie on your tablet only to walk into another room and suddenly start having buffering issues because the speeds don't hold up? Well the Velop system goes a long ways towards fixing that. The Velop is really in my eyes the perfect router system. It gives you what most of us have been chasing after in a router for a long time. Consistent speed and signal strength. If you were to buy a good traditional router and several range extenders for your home it would cost around the same as the Velop. But the Velop works far better and is insanely easy to set up. It really is the perfect Wi-Fi system!

Still loving the Velop system after a couple of weeks of use. Solid performance. I did run into one issue that really isn't the Velop's problem but felt it might be helpful to share.
I use a Wemo switch to control a table lamp by way of the Echo Dot ( "Alexa, lights on/off"). It worked great before I hooked up the Velop but it took me some time to figure out why it wouldn't work with the Velop. The Wemo requires a 2.4ghz channel. The Velop uses 2.4ghz and 5ghz but they are not controllable. Therefore, the Wemo would not recognize the Velop's signal. My work around was actually simple and gave me a use for my old router. I simple plugged the old router into one of the Velop's ethernet ports and had the old router send out the dedicated 2.4ghz channel. Now I simple have the Wemo & Echo Dot hooked to that signal. Works like a charm. I would imaging this could be an issue for any other (mostly older) devices that only work on the 2.4ghz channel as well.
As I said before, this really isn't an issue of the Velop. It is really more an issue of the Wemo not being up to date with the current 5ghz channel. However, it is still something to keep in mind.
