Great Buy for All Ages

Dinosaurs has to be the best children show of all time. It's so fun, even adults will enjoy it. Witness wonderful catch phrases, such as "Not the Mama!" or "I'm the Baby. Gotta love me!" This show was written by people with kids who actually tested their material out on their kids, so it's guaranteed to be funny. I remember loving it as a child, and I still love it today. This dinosaur family went through issues that even their young human viewers can relate to. Charlene's tail hasn't developed as quickly as the other girls, Robbie feels forced into going through the same career path as his father (tree-pusher), and there seems to be prejudice between the two legged dinosaurs vs. the four legged ones. It's all very clever, hilarious, and heartwarming. And the extras are so much fun! They're hidden "Dinosaur Eggs." You'll want to find them all!
What's great about it: Two Great Seasons with Plenty of Extras

Australian comedian Yahoo Serious wreaks havoc in his third effort as writer, director, and star. Roger Crumpkin (Serious) suffers from "obsessive-compulsive dismantling fixation," which is a fancy way of saying he's always taking things apart that he can't put back together. As a result, disaster follows him like a family of baby ducks trailing after their mother. Roger works for the world's largest free-range egg company, run by cheerful Kelvin Chevalier (Garry McDonald). Kelvin likes Roger and tolerates his ineptitude, but Kelvin's brother Duxton (David Field) does not feel the same way, and when Duxton forces Kelvin out of the firm, Roger is out of a job. Somehow, Roger becomes involved with Duxton's girlfriend Sunday (Helen Dallimore), who isn't much less accident-prone than Roger. Through Sunday, Roger learns that Duxton has an evil scheme to put nicotine in the company's eggs, causing his customers to literally become addicted to his product, and Roger and Sunday set out to stop him -- that is, when they aren't busy breaking things. Mr. Accident was completed in 1999, but wasn't released theatrically until the fall of 2000, its Australian opening coinciding with the Olympic games held in Sydney.

Yahoo Serious, seriously is a yahoo.

This movie does have it's funny moments, but it's too much like a cartoon. Seeing a grown man dressing and acting like a child is more disturbing than funny. I found the scenes without Yahoo more interesting. Sunday was a fun character. Great personality and choice of clothing. Even if you like slapstick comedy, you still may find some of the jokes in here juvenile. But if you're looking for a fun movie that doesn't involve much thought, then this is a good pick. Sometimes you need something to watch just for the sake of watching something.
What's not so great: Funny - but not funny enough.

I Want To Believe...

The opening credits to the X-Files have changed into something terrible! It should have been kept the same. This is the final season of the X-Files. Don't you want to see how it all ends, even if Mulder is only in one episode? There's great guest stars this season: Lucy Lawless, Cary Elwes, John Kapelos, and Burt Reynolds. The failed series "The Lone Gunmen" is ended through an episode titled "Jump the Shark." It's a great episode that captured the essence of the Lone Gunmen, but it's still sad and unsatisfying. "Improbable" is an odd episode, yet fun. Meaningless singing is always a joy. Right? There's a sad conclusion to baby William's storyline. There's also a strange episode involving the Brady Bunch. Other episodes involve parallel dimensions, human trafficking, reincarnations, and cults. I thought the series finale was great. As people testify on Mulder's behalf, they summarize the entire series- everything that has happened in those nine years. If you forgot any of the storylines, or were confused by them, then this episode should clear that up. The only downside of the episode is that it deals with the “death” of Knowles Rohrer. Does anyone care? The only thing interesting about that character was that the actor was on “Firefly.” Awesome characters return in the final episode. Those being Marita, CSM, Gibson Praise, Krychek, Lone Gunmen, X, and SPENDER. It should be uplifting because everyone who worked on the X-Files, (Mulder, Scully, Skinner, Doggett, & Reyes), refuse to give up. But it’s sad to see what they had to sacrifice. So much loss and destruction… But there’s a tremendous joy in knowing that you’ve seen every single episode of the greatest show ever!
What's great about it: The Truth is Out There.
What's not so great: Trust No One.

Mulder's abducted, but he's still in a pretty decent amount of episodes. Doggett is unlikable at first, so it's a delight to cheer Scully on as she throws her water at him. But, criminey - he does grow on you. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that he's not half as bad as you thought he'd be. He's no replacement for Mulder, but still an awesome character. Scully's pregnant in this season, but that doesn't mean she's taking a backseat. She still kicks butt. Usually pregnancies are the worst thing to happen to a series, but I think the X-Files handled it well. I just didn't like the whole alien baby bit. It seems like it led nowhere in the end. Some familiar characters return, such as Gibson Praise, Jeremiah Smith, the alien bounty hunter, and Krychek. Who will survive...? However, CSM is still missing from this season. "Badlaa" is a seriously creepy episode, where an Indian mystic with amputated legs stalks his victims as he wheels himself on a board with this skin-crawling squeak. That bathroom scene spooked me. There's also an episode that reminds me of "Jeepers Creepers." Scary monsters this season are demon possession, gigantic reptiles, bat boy, alien babies, and Super Soldiers.
What's great about it: Quality of episodes are better than those of Season 7.
What's not so great: Mulder's abducted and Scully's pregnant.

Three geeky conspiracy theorists -- Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood), Richard "Ringo" Langly (Dean Haglund), and John Fitzgerald Byers (Bruce Harwood) -- chase down a variety of strange phenomena with the help of a well-to-do fellow nerd (Stephen Snedden) and a mysterious female operative (Zuleikha Robinson) in this collection of episodes from the cult-favorite television series The Lone Gunmen. The Lone Gunmen features all 13 episodes from this short-lived spin-off of The X-Files; titles include "Pilot," "Bond, Jimmy Bond," "Eine Kleine Frohike," "Like Water For Octane," "Three Men and a Smoking Diaper," "Madame, I'm Adam," "Planet of the Frohikes: A Short History of My Demeaning Captivity," "Maximum Byers," "Diagnosis: Jimmy," "Tango de los Pistoleros," "The Lying Game," "All About Yves," and "The Cap'n Toby Show." Also included is the episode "Jump the Shark" from The X-Files, which wrapped up the storylines for the characters after The Lone Gunmen was unexpectedly canceled after only four months on the air.

Funny & Action-Packed

This was a great comic spin-off from the X-Files series, involving everyone's favorite paranoid trio. A fourth character, named Jimmy Bond, is introduced. He plays the dumb character that need everything explained to him, which works out in the end because that enables the Long Gunmen to explain it to the viewers at the same time without it looking silly. Jimmy may be a complete idiot, but he's also very considerate, sweet, and loyal. Yves also makes a beautiful villainess, who is also a good guy at the same time. Although amazingly funny, this series has a lot of action in it, especially the pilot episode. Frohike even performs karate in a later episode. It may not have aliens like the X-Files, but it does deal with other legends and conspiracies, such as a car that can run on water, intelligent monkeys, and many hidden military secrets. But do keep an eye out for other X-Files characters who do make appearances - Skinner being one of them. This DVD set not only contains every episode of "The Lone Gunmen," but it even includes an episode of the X-Files, titled "Jump the Shark," which acts as a sad finale for the failed show. This episode should be watched before viewing the "Making Of-" Featurette because the featurette contains spoilers.
What's great about it: Fantastic Spin-Off of a Fantastic Show
What's not so great: Ended Too Shortly - And Then Too Sadly!

This soundtrack is great because you don't have to be a Buffy fan to enjoy it; however, it's better if you are. It's a collection of show tunes that can be loved by anyone. The songs are catchy and funny. Those in the cast who cannot sing only have minimal parts, such as Willow. Anya has a fantastic voice. Her song "I'll Never Tell," sung with Xander, is extremely catchy. However, you will have to be a Buffy fanatic to understand some of the inside jokes, such as Anya's fear of bunnies or the Thanksgiving episode where Xander is infected with every kind of disease ever known to man. Tara sings a lovely love ballad to Willow and Spike sings an awesome rock song to Buffy. Songs were written to perfectly match the characters singing them. Anthony Stewart Head, who plays Giles, sings an endearing song about Buffy, that is so emotional and beautiful. This is a must have for any Buffy fan or for anyone who just plain loves music. I actually introduced many people to Buffy through this soundtrack.

This is an extraordinary action series with a hint of a sci-fi element. But it's filled with believability because it actually can happen. Detective James Ellison developed heightened senses, (hearing, sight, touch, smell, etc), that gives him the advantage when it comes to fighting crime. He receives help from his guide, Blair Sandburg, who teaches Jim how to control and handle his senses. And these two characters are not perfect. They make mistakes and get into disagreements, which makes the show enjoyable. They are complete opposites of one another, yet they are forced to work with each other. But as the show develops, you see that they really care about each other. It's a buddy show. The acting is great. The characters of Jim, Blair, and Simon are well casted. They're very unique from other actors. If you watch this show, know that you are experiencing a cult series with a huge fan base. And these fans are great people and this is a show deserving of a huge fan base. Unfortunately, this DVD comes with absolutely no extras.
What's great about it: Sentinel is one of the BEST sci fi shows ever!
What's not so great: Where's season two???

Earthling astronauts crash land on exotic Venus and find themselves assaulted by terrible monsters in this sci-fi adventure. Fortunately, the planet's other residents, beautiful women, come to their aid and help them to return home. Much of the film is comprised of scenes from two other films, Voyage to a Prehistoric Planet and a Russian film Planeta Bur. The film is the directorial debut of Peter Bogdanovich.

Pretty good film. It's one of those movies that you'd expect to see hosted on one of those late night programs, such as Off Beat Cinema. Astronauts land on Venus, which is inhabited by very pretty young ladies. I wouldn't call them prehistoric at all. They're very much like mermaids, except they have legs. Their pants make them appear as if they had fins. However, the scenes with just the male astronauts are boring. The women and the Robot are what you want to see. The movie only gets interesting when the astronauts finally land on the planet. If you like old black and white movies, this one is a must. If you don't like old black and white movies, you still might like this. It's from 1968 and it might encourage you to watch movies much older than that.

Still a Good Season of the Best Show Ever!
on July 13, 2008

Unfortunately, this is not the best season of the X-Files. But at least Mulder's in every episode. There is a crossover episode with Millennium that works as an ending for Lance Henriksen's canceled series. However, that is a really far-out episode that is really disappointing to any Millennium fan. The character of Donnie Pfaster returns in an episode that makes me want to yell "WAY TO GO SCULLY!" An old boyfriend from Scully's past makes a disappointing appearance, but before that Kathy Griffin makes a horrendous guest appearance in the worst episode of X-Files history. "X-Cops" is an interesting and kind of fun episode. It's like a spoof of the show "Cops." It documents Mulder and Scully solving a case. "First Person Shooter" is also a real joy. It is action-packed and involves Scully kicking butt in a virtual reality video game. Cigarette Smoking Man also gets an interesting episode involving Scully. Is that a romantic spark I see? Just me I think... The last episode of the season is extremely crucial for the next season. Some scary creatures to look forward to are dopplegangers, genies, and witches.
What's great about it: Better than Season 9 and Scully looks cute in a top hat.
What's not so great: Not as good as Seasons 1-6

A weekend encounter group session goes dreadfully wrong in this campy thriller done in the tradition of an old Ed Wood movie. Richard, a disturbed but serious student who has been having strange recurring dreams, has just received the go-ahead for his research project. With a group of subjects, he will travel to his forest cabin to hold a "fear confrontation" session. The subjects are an eclectic fear-filled group, and much of the movie focuses on their discussions as they begin to face them. The thrills begin when Morty, a mysterious old-fashioned dime-store wooden Indian suddenly appears in a closet. Morty is not a friendly fellow, nor is he as inanimate as he seems. When the group goes to a local amusement park, people begin to die.

Scarey DVD Purchase

This is a movie about a life-sized wooden doll that preys on people's fear in order to kill them. The music is original and very spooky. Especially the piece I consider to be Morty's theme. This is one movie you do not want to watch alone in the dark. Now, Morty may be a vicious doll, but he is not the only bad guy in the film. The movie is crawling with creepy predators. Keep an eye out for surprise revelations. Okay - maybe they're predictable revelations, but they're the ones you're hoping for. But there's a lot of surprises in the film, so maybe you won't guess them all. The nudity is edited in the DVD release, which takes away some of the creepiness of the scene. The unbelievably choppy edits interrupts the realism of the film. The extras are slightly disappointing. Yes - there's movie factoids, but they're incredibly dull. However, this is still a very entertaining horror movie even if there's no gore. I noticed it is rated 'R' for Adult Humor. If there was a joke in this movie, I didn't get it...
What's great about it: Terrifying and original! Wes Craven Cameo.
What's not so great: Choppy edits.
