Great Series - Bad DVD

This is a great season of Will & Grace. I especially like the introduction of Woody Harrelson's character. However, the episodes are edited as seen in syndication. Therefore, I cannot recommend this DVD set. It should have included the entire, uncut episodes. Why would I want to watch an episode that's incomplete? It's devastating because this is a great series and I really want to buy all the seasons on DVD. But it's pointless if it's edited to bare bones.
David Carson and Herbert Wise's television mini-series The 10th Kingdom comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. Supplemental materials include a featurette on the making-of the program, behind-the-scenes footage, and an interview with series producer Robert Halmi Sr. This is a solid release from Artisan.

Fairytale Goodness!

This miniseries is so beautiful! It's ten hours long, but so worth it. Fairtales are retold as the main characters travel from Manhattan into the other 9 Kingdoms. The only disappointing thing is that the ending hints blantantly at a sequel, but one never comes. But this is a good miniseries by Hallmark. Way better than the Magical Legend of the Leprechauns. You definately want to see this one if you love fantasy movies.
What's great about it: Princes, Princesses, Dragons, Dwarves and every mystical creature you can think of!
What's not so great: The troll siblings are annoying.
Mysterious supernatural occurrences plague a labyrinthine hospital in Columbia TriStar's release of horror icon Stephen King's made-for-television adaptation of Lars von Trier's The Kingdom. Kingdom Hospital is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen and features audio rendered in closed-captioned English Dolby Digital 5.1. When you're finished being spooked by the horrific hospital, check out a commentary track by King and the filmmakers, journey "Inside the Walls" to see the making of the miniseries, hear what the cast has to say about the production in "Patients and Doctors," take a tour of the hospital in "Designing Kingdom Hospital," and read an exclusive essay written by King himself.

Okay to watch once.

The hospital is haunted and you see ghosts - the man running around without his head is hysterical (intentional), but it is so slow pace! Especially the pilot, which is so dull. And I can't stand the ant eater, although the special effects for it are good. But there is not enough of a creep factor to keep me entertained. And the story itself is predictable. But it does have some good actors in it. Sherry Miller rocks in everything she does. I'm disappointed that Peter Wingfield doesn't get enough screen time though. This show is good to watch once, but you may not even finish the episodes. It should have been edited down to a three hour miniseries. It could have been spectacular, but it was in desperate need of editing.
This show if very humourous. Bruce Campbell is so great in this role! And Emilia is very pretty. They had great chemistry together I'm so used to seeing Verne Troyer as Mini Me, but he's actually really good at playing Napoleon Bonaparte - very funny. There was quite a bit of potty humor in there - some I'm surprised they let on during day time television. Definately a show worth watching. I love seeing Bruce Campbell in title roles! Great lines in here! Governor Croque is cool too!
What's great about it: BRUCE CAMPBELL
What's not so great: No extras. There should have been a Bruce Campbell interview!
This is possibly the funniest sitcom in TV history! Balki and Larry are hilarious together! I love how well they work with each other and how well they bounce jokes off one another. Maryanne and Jennifer are wonderful additions as well. Very pretty indeed.
What's great about it: Do the DANCE OF JOY! It's the first two seasons!
Bruce Campbell rocks as Brisco County Junior! If you are a Bruce Campebell fan, you will not be disappointed. His one-liners are beyond entertaining. And he looks so sexy in this series. Dixie is also a great character - she's smart, sexy, and a very independent woman. And I love Socrates! It's also great when John Astin guest stars. This show is not only about cowboys - it also has a sci/fi element that I love. The humor is great, the action is great, and all the stories are great. I like the episode "Hard Rock" where the Sheriff shares a great resemblance to Elvis. But there are many great episodes to chose from. A very pricey boxset, but worth it none the less.
What's great about it: BRUCE CAMPBELL
What's not so great: Expensive box set - but still worth the price.
This is the last season of Third Rock. Like or not, the Solomons have become more human than they could have possibly imagined. When they sing their mission anthem in the last episode, it is so sad. But I found that watching the alternate ending picks me right back up! There are only twenty episodes this season. I believe the previous season had between 22 to 26 episodes. “Fear and Loathing in Rutherford” is a hilarious episode in which Harry and Sally try to play a prank on Alissa. They go more than a little overboard. “Why Dickie Can’t Teach” is also a funny episode where Dick learns he can’t teach from Tommy. The episode guide is still a good booklet, but the episodes are not described in such detail as they were in the previous seasons. Earlier, the booklet took nearly a paragraph to describe each episode and even included some of the jokes. This season’s booklet only gives one-sentence descriptions. Too brief to really describe the episodes. Unfortunately, this season does not include bloopers. But if you are a fan of Third Rock, owning the last season is a must!
This season is great because Strudwick gets himself in quite a few episodes. His feud with Dick is hilarious. And Dick is just further steamed when he finds out that Mary once had a fling with him. Later, Dick discovers that he can take sick days from work. There is a Valentine’s Day episode, but Tommy seems to mess things up with Alissa. Alan Cumming guest stars this season. William Shatner also guest stars as the Big Giant Head and he is in plenty of episodes. But still not enough because he is so funny! My only beef with the box sets is that the photographs they choose for the box and the booklet don’t match the season. It’s just really apparent because Tommy grows into a young man during the show’s run, but yet they still use photos of him as a child. But then earlier seasons has photos of him as a young adult.
What's great about it: Big Giant Head is Dick’s Father
This is how it should be! Mary and Dick back together again! However, Dick becomes “just the boyfriend” when Mary is named Dean of Arts and Sciences. He can’t help but feel a little left out. He does not want to be known as “Mrs. Albright.” But then he becomes obsessed with beanie baby-like toys. He’s actually addicted and it’s quite funny because his family and friends hold an intervention for him and his habit. Laurie Metcalf joins the cast for a few episodes as a professor who must share an office with Dick. Although I usually enjoy this actress, I did not like the character of Jennifer. But there are great episodes this season - Dick and Sally switch bodies, Vicki decides she wants Harry’s baby, Sally becomes a Mafia princess, and the Solomons celebrate New Years!
Dick runs into some problems this season – as soon as he gets engaged with Mary, he receives orders from above that he must marry the Big Giant Head’s niece. Although this is still a great season, I prefer episodes in which Dick and Mary are a couple. But Jane Curtin is so funny! There are so many jokes about Mary’s stubby legs and being overweight and she handle the comedy well. She’s a favorite character of mine. There’s a Halloween episode this season. I love Halloween! And Dick has to deal with jury duty. Vicki returns this season with a surprise – she’s celibate. The episode “36! 24! 36! Dick!” is a great two part episode that might be the funniest episode of the season. Drop dead gorgeous women from Venus infiltrate Earth by becoming the girlfriends of your regular everyday man. They’re greedy and they plan to get all the riches by airing a fiendish commercial during the Super Bowl. This episode includes Cindy Crawford as a guest star, who takes a sincere fancy to Harry. John Cheese also guest stars this season.
