The box is so beautiful! The photos they picked are so wonderful to look at. They are taken from the two-part episode that ends the second season. That episode is “Nightmare on Dick Street,” in which the Solomons experience dreams for the first time – they actually believe they are going crazy. It’s a wonderfully done episode that I really don’t know how to describe so I’ll just say it captures visually what a musical might be like if you were to dream it. Fantastic! It also comes with 3D glasses so you can view the episode in 3D. Maybe it’s just me, but the glasses don’t seem work when I watch it. Dick and Mary become closer and Harry gets involved with Mrs. Dubcek’s daughter, who is hilarious. This season includes two holiday episodes – one with Thanksgiving and the other with Christmas. Those are terrific episodes! This is probably the best season of Third Rock, so you don’t want to miss it!
What's great about it: Episode dealing with dreams and the introduction of Vicki.

This box set contains every episode from the first season of the situation comedy 3rd Rock From the Sun, a show that garnered star John Lithgow multiple Emmys for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Each episode is presented in the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. Supplemental materials include interviews with the cast, a making-of featurette, and a blooper reel.

This is a fun DVD set. If yours is still new, you’ll be able to hear it talk by pressing a button. Sadly, the battery doesn’t last long so mine does not speak anymore – for any of the seasons. The episode guide booklet also doubles as a “Guide for Living on Earth.” So not only does it describe each episode in great detail, but it also informs you on how to defend yourself against Jello-O, how to attack a piñata, or how to use bread in place of tissues or toilet paper. It is a truly nice booklet – wonderful photos. And you can expect this quality booklet to continue out through the rest of the series’ box sets. This is a TV show very different from modern day sitcoms. It deals with aliens from outer space trying to pass as a human family so that they can learn about Earthlings. Seems cheesy, but the humor is fantastic! Most shows rely on dirty jokes, but Third Rock had an amazing cast that could accomplish any joke. As aliens, they are unfamiliar with holiday traditions, the common cold, birthdays, ethnicity, etc – so you get to witness them experience those things for the first time. Sally has to get used to being a woman (both physical and social concerns) and Tommy has to become accustom to puberty. Dick pining over the human Mary is too funny for words. They definitely make the top ten for best TV couple. The extras are great too. They include interviews with EVERY actor from the cast. There’s also a blooper reel that may even be funnier that the show itself. If you love to laugh, then this is the DVD for you! But this season does end on a cliffhanger with Evil Dick, so you’re going to want to buy Season 2 to see how it resolves.
What's great about it: Seeing Aliens Adjust to Human Life

An Action Packed and Mystical Purchase!

Buffy returns from the dead yet again, but this time she's feeling down because she was taken out of heaven. This season has a darker tone to the previous seasons. It's devastating when the Buffybot gets ripped apart. A highlight of the season is "Once More, With Feeling." It is the Buffy musical episode and it is fantastic! The songs are true to the characters and very catchy. I especially enjoyed Spike's "Rest in Peace" and Tara's "Under Your Spell." It's a real treat for Buffy fans. The big bad this season is the Trio - Warren, Andrew, and Jonathan. While Buffy is dead, her friends dive into her inheritance from her mother. Then when Buffy is resurrected, her ungrateful and lazy friends make her get a job so she can work when she's not saving the world. It's just something that continues to annoy me. Anyway, Riley returns for an episode. And Xander is really inconsiderate to Anya in "Heck's Bells," (unable to post the real title). His excuses are pitiful and he sticks with them for the rest of the series. Sadly, Tara dies. But Willow become evil to avenge her death, making her the new big bad of the season. There's some pretty good episodes this season. A definite must for all Buffy fans!
What's great about it: Musical Episode and Dark Willow!
What's not so great: Character Death.

Great Season!

All of the sudden, Buffy has a sister. Dawn is never introduced. She just shows up one day and that is fantastic! They do eventually explain her though. And even though Dawn is just a key, she is so much more than that to Buffy and Buffy loves her so much that she is willing to do anything to protect her. Dracula finally makes an appearance! Buffy slays vampires - it's about time she meets THE vampire. Warren is introduced this season. The big bad this season is Glory. She's a goddess but she's also a material girl. Joyce finally dies - if only that meant you never had to see that character again. What a terrible character! But this season is the season of the Buffybot! Oh yeah! Spike believes he is in love with Buffy! Fantastic season!
What's great about it: Dracula makes an appearance. There's a Buffybot. And Joyce is gone!

Great Series!

Buffy is a strong female character. She's a courageous role model for young girls, despite the fact that she's "watched" by a man and that Joss Whedon later makes her lose weight. The series takes place after the Kristy Swanson movie - although a great movie, you definitely don't have to watch it to enjoy the series. It's so cute to see the cast so young. This season has more stand alone episodes, dealing with a She-Mantis, a demonic Internet stalker, and demonic hyenas. Buffy's big bad of the season is The Master. And since this is the first season, the action is a little weak (only in comparison to the upcoming seasons). Sarah Michelle Gellar spent a lot of time training for Buffy, which is evident by season two. However, Willow's acting never improves.

Sunnydale High has blown up, so Buffy begins her journey into college. The big bad this season is the Initiative and the monster they created named Adam. Riley Finn is introduced and becomes Buffy's boyfriend. Sadly, Oz decides that he needs to leave - but Tara is introduced! Ethan Rayne also returns for an episode. Faith returns as well. There's a Halloween episode - love those holiday episodes! "Hush" is the best episode of the season. Citizens have their voices stolen by demons, and it shows that the cast of Buffy can survive without any dialogue. It also shows that Willow is becoming a powerful witch and that her and Tara are more than just friends. Giles' drawings are always entertaining. "Superstar" is an episode that revolves around Jonathan, in which he has become the coolest person in Sunnydale. This is a good season, but the show was much better when Buffy was in highschool.
What's great about it: Tara
What's not so great: Not as good as the previous seasons.

This season introduces the character of Faith - another Slayer who is the opposite of Buffy's personality. Wesley is introduced as well, as a new Watcher. "Band Candy" is a good episode, in which the adults of Sunnydale begin acting like teenagers, including Joyce and Giles. But I can't stand Buffy's mom. Although they were probably trying to portray her as being motherly, she just came out as a bully. Xander may be dating Cordelia and Willow may be dating Oz, but Willow and Xander become closer. There's also a vampire Willow episode. "Helpless" is a terrific episode where Buffy has to battle evil without her super powers. It shows that not only can she act in a crisis, but she can also think on her feet. I thought the Mayor was a fantastic character. His overacting always brought a smile to my face. He's the big bad of this season, but it's not the last you'll see of him. Buffy also goes to prom - with Angel! However, I think Angel acted like a total butt in that episode. Whatever he had to say or do could have been done after prom. That was HER night.
What's great about it: Senior Year in Sunnydale High and Faith!

So, Buffy has already died once. I love how they always bring her back. Angel and Buffy's relationship developes further, which causes Angel to lose his soul. Those are fun episodes. Xander and Cordelia are kinda dating as well. Spike, Drusilla, Oz, and Ethan Rayne are introduced. I thought Jenny Caldendar was a great character. She knew stuff about demons like Giles, except she learned it from the Internet instead of from reading ancient books. Halloween is a good episode, in which people become their costumes. Other episodes revolve around human sacrifices, an evil robot, and a sexy mummy. This is a great season of Buffy. So many wonderful things happen - you have the relationship between Angel and Buffy, Angel loses his soul, and the introduction of Spike. Excellent season!
What's great about it: Best Season of Buffy!

Although Joss Whedon claimed to have years of storylines for Buffy worked out, this season falls flat. Still, it is not as bad as the final season of “Angel.” New and annoying characters are added, which is why it is no surprise or disappointment to the viewers when they die or get injured. The potential slayers are a bunch of idiotic little girls that shriek and huddle together during times of hardship. Thanks, Joss. The only potential ready to fight is the self-righteous Kennedy. But making a female character like women does not give her personality. Her relationship with Willow is forced. And Andrew was a good character – in small dosage. Nathan Fillion guest stars as Caleb, who is evil and hates women (a trait that is over done in the Whedon Universe). He also happens to be a priest with a funny hairdo and a funny accent that pokes out Xander's eye with his thumb. For crying out loud! They fought demons with horns, tentacles, and sharp nails! Where there no better ideas out there? Angel also returns for the final two episodes. However, his screen time is minimal. Faith returns as well! And nothing is resolved between the Spike/Buffy/Angel triangle. The extras include bloopers, featurettes, and a wrap party video. The bloopers are short, so is the wrap party video. This is still a great season. It just happens to be Buffy’s poorest. As much as I love Buffy, it probably wouldn’t have existed if Joss wasn’t related to Tom or John Whedon. Episodes end awkwardly and he breaks out of formula. But if you love Buffy, youll love this season. It just gets a little chaotic with all these new characters popping up.
What's great about it: See how it all ends!
What's not so great: Poorest Buffy Season

The Frankenstein story gets a 1980s update with director Franc Roddam's monstrous vision in The Bride. This time rock legend Sting is the insane Dr. Frankenstein and Flashdance actress Jennifer Beals is the newly created mate for his monster (Clancy Brown). Featuring 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, Columbia has done a very nice job on this transfer. There is a minimal amount of grain present in the picture, and the colors and blacks are both bright and solid. Edge enhancement in the picture is kept very low, as is any shimmer or digital artifacting. Although not a perfect reference quality transfer, The Bride looks better than one might expect. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese. The Bride certainly might have benefited from a Dolby 5.1 remix, but as it stands, this audio track sounds very good. Sounds are directional (from front speakers) and dialogue is clear and concise without any distortion. Composer Maurice Jarre's lush score and the booming sound effects are also mixed very evenly. Also included are English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Thai, and Korean subtitles. The Bride has been fitted with a few extra features that makes this disc above average, including an audio commentary by the director. Also included are filmographies of stars Sting and Jennifer Beals, as well as theatrical trailers for The Bride, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. While this may not be the most jam-packed DVD on the market, The Bride still electrifies with good video/audio portions and some well-done extra features.

Very Disappointing

The movie mostly focuses on Frankenstein's monster who runs away with a little person to join the circus. Although Sting gave a fantastic performance, the story did not revolve around him. It had a good idea - Frankenstein creates a bride for his monster, but falls in love with her instead. But that was really just a sub-story. Jennifer Beals's character was interesting and I would have like to have seen more interaction between her and Sting, but that's not what the movie was about. Why call the movie "The Bride" if it's barely about her?
What's great about it: Sting
What's not so great: Sting and Jennifer Beals are barely in the movie.
