In 1984, this album was a landmark, record setting, effort for the multi-talented Lauper. It was the first album ever by a female artist to contain 4 top 5 hits of the Billboard Hot 100 ( "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", "Time After Time", "She Bop" , and "All Through the Night"). The album stayed in the top 40 charts for an amazing 65 weeks. It's success led to her winning a 1985 Grammy for Best New Artist. She also won the 1984 Video Music Award for her video of "Girls....". Lauper's talent (singer, songwriter, producer) makes this album a joy to play over and over.It offers a freshness not often found in a first album by any artist, male or female. It also features bonus live cuts. No words can describe the magic of this album, it has to be experienced ! AND, THIS IS A" MUST" EXPERIENCE YOU SHOULD NOT PASS UP !!
What's great about it: Features All of Her Ground-Breaking Hits
This album (consisting of 3 CD's) features over 50 of Johnny Cash's hits from his great career, including several live performances ("Folsom Prison Blues" is one). Then you are treated to cuts featuring other artists with whom he has collaborated-Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings ,U2, Marty Robbins, and June Carter Cash. The songs run the gamut from his early rock hits to C&W and gospel. "Ballad of A Teenage Queen", "Ring of Fire", and "Were you There ( When They Crucified My Lord)" aptly display the talents of this legendary performer. You will never- and I mean NEVER-find a more reasonable price on an album this fabulous , which should please every collector and Cash fan immensely. Do NOT miss this opportunity to add quality such as this to your library. As the title says it is "essential".
The Portland, Ore. garage/frat band is pefectly profiled on this album, which contains memorable hit after memorable hit, most notably Louie,Louie". This 1963 hit became a legend - and the legend still lives on. Jack Ely's slurred lyrics created a controvesy about what "objectional" things were being said, causing it to be banned in Indiana. In late 1963 and early 1964, the song hit the #1 spot on Cashbox and continued to be ranked #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 (denied the top spot only by Bobby Vinton and the Singing Nun). "Money (That's What I Want)" And "Little Latin Lupe Lu" are other top hits featured. But, of the 26 cuts on this album, there is not a "loser". This is a "MUST PURCHASE"for any music lover !!!!!!!!!!
An Exceptional R&B Album-R.I.A.A. Gold Disc winner

This group almost missed making history in the recording industry. While their agent kept pitching one side of their single to record execs, it was the wrong side. Once the focus was switched to the "B" side, "Tighten Up", their R&B legend was made.. The album was a R.I.A.A. Gold Disc winner. And, "Tighten Up" topped both the Billboard R&B and pop charts. The album is an integral part of American music history, and should be coveted as such.
What's great about it: Featiures The Hit "Tighten Up", parts 1 & 2
This excellent first album from the group is worthy of all the praise in garnered in the 1960's. The band, formed in 1963, took a british sounding name and wore british mod clothing to take advantage of the " Invasion". They wound up creating a legacy of their own. "Laugh,Laugh" was their largest hit and it was voted one of the top 500 most infuential songs of all time. Included on the album are two other top 100 songs-"Just A Little" and "You Tell Me Why". Considered to be the first folk rock group (even though the Byrds recorded first), the Beau Brummels were a large force in music. Pick uo this collectible album and you'll discover why.
What's great about it: Exceptional Album, Containing Their Biggest Hits
This album boasts the 1963 #1 hit "Hey Paula" which is a great plus in itself, but it also has a legacy to boot. That song sparked the teaming of other "boy/girl duos", starting with Jerry Butler and Betty Everett (later Tammi Terrell), Sonny and Cher, etc. The title song is the major attraction song-wise, with lesser contributions to the music world coming in a distant second. Still, for the sake of rock fans, this is an album which launched a genre of music that cannot be ignored. It is a piece of history which should be in everyone's collection.
This is an awesome soundtrack for the 2000 movie of the same name. If you thought the award winning movie was great because of the cast ( George Clooney, etc.), then you only have half the "story". The soundtrack, from veteran producerT-Bone Burnett, is equally impressive -if not moreso. He assembled such an unbelieveable cast of performers for the sountrack. it is no wonder that performers like Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys (O'Death") were rewarded with individual Grammys. All this and the unforgettable renditions of " I am a Man of Constant Sorrow" by the Soggy Bottom Boys. If you pass this CD up, you are doing yourself and your collection a tremendous injustice.
What's great about it: Great Assortment of Talent-Old and New
Chad and Jeremy were a terrific part of the Brisish Invasion in the mid-60's and this collectable album shows why. This folk/pop duo produced several great hits from this album including "A Summer Song", "Willow Weep for Me" , and "Yesterday's Gone". Their lesser on this album are pretty exceptional too. All cuts feature orchesrational backgrounds ( long before it entered the Beatles' albums) and the results are a joy for the listener. This is not the typical rock offered by most British bands. It is just a celebration of good music on another level. Collectors and all fans of the era should never hesitate to add this to their library !!
What's great about it: Features Some of Their Greatest Hits
This album is very collectable because it contains the #1 hit of all time from Billboard's Top 100 Hot lists ( as voted in 2008 on their 50th Anniversary),"The Twist", which was in the #1 spot for 1960, but also in 1962. In addition, it features Checker's other #1 hit, "Pony Time" from 1961. Checker, a crossover from the R&B genre, gives his highly energetic performance on every cut, even on his lesser popular songs. All of this makes this album more than memorable and a "must have".It is the one that lauched an international craze which endures today with Checker's appearances at "Oldies Revival" shows.
What's great about it: Contains 2 of his Most Important Works
This 1962 album is the first successful album produced by The Four Seasons. Included are their singles "Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" which dominated Billboard's Top 100 Singles list that year, racking up more weeks at the top than any other artist. It also includes several more lesser hits, such as "Oh Carol". Frankie Valli and crew have never looked back since, producing many subsequent successful albums in the last 46 years. Their enduring popularity has made them a favorite at "oldies" concerts all over the globe and on the PBS "oldies concert" series. This IS a must have breakout album for all fans and music collectors.
What's great about it: Features Their First Big Hits
