Terrific Price on a classic
on February 11, 2012

This 3 CD set is a steal. You get 3 CD's (one each for Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.) that is ridiculously low for classic performances in their hey day. Don't pass this bargain by.
What's great about it: Low price and excellent performances.

More is sometimes definitely better

This terrific CD gives "Skynard" fans a chance to enjoy longer versions of some of their greatest and lesser hits. For example, there is a 12+ minute version of "Free Bird" as well as a 7+ minute rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama".
There is another upside which makes it lucrative- it is so reasonably priced that it's almost a "steal".
If you are a true "Skynard" follower, this should be added to your collection without delay. You won't regret it.
What's great about it: Terrific long versions of their hits

From a musical standpoint, one might puzzle over the irony that while going electric led to the most fruitful creative period in Bob Dylan's career, plenty of fans welcomed his appearance on MTV's Unplugged as a glorious return to form, as if the man was still being asked to live down the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. But it's also true that Dylan and his band delivered a tight and enthusiastic performance for the MTV cameras, and this DVD release of the show certainly treats the material with the respect it deserves. MTV Unplugged: Bob Dylan has been transferred to disc in the full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1 as it was originally broadcast, and the image looks rich and well-detailed, and certainly better than the original VHS release. The audio has been presented in two mixes -- a sharp and lively two-channel mix in uncompressed PCM stereo and a roomy surround-sound version in Dolby Digital 5.1. No additional bonus features have been included, but four additional songs have been added to the set list that were trimmed from the MTV broadcast, expanding the show to 73 minutes. This is a quality release that certainly merits a look from Dylan fans.

Excellent Live Album by Dylan
on January 30, 2010

Bob Dylan performs many of his classic hits live on this album and adds some unique twists to many of the songs which,as usual, leads to very pleasing results.
His "All Along the Watchtower" is dynamic, to say the least-and, it is well worth the cost of the album alone. All the other cuts are equally worth of praise.
Even if you are not a Dylan fan, this will convert you into one. And it demonstrates why he has been such a force in music since the early 60's.
Devoted fans, and curious fans as well, should take full advantage of this "steal" price and add in to their collection immediately. There will never be a regret.
And, after all, IT IS DYLAN !
What's great about it: Dylan Performs Live at his very best

The Most Collectible CD Ever By Bob Dylan
on December 4, 2009

This is the Most Collectible Album Ever Produced and Performed by Dylan. Chances are, there may never be another to top it.
Dylan, in his now older and raspier voice, performs admirably and sincerely in his presentation of Traditional and Commercial Christmas songs.
Most memorable is "Must Be Santa Claus", which is very upbeat and features zydeco acordian accompiment, ala Flaco Jiminez.
That is not to say there and not other memorable performances such as "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing". All performances are , without a doubt, some of his better efforts recently.
I strongly urge any Dylan and Christmas music fan to add this to their collection immediately. It is an everlasting gift from Dylan to us.
What's great about it: Features Both Traditional and Commercial Christmas Selections
What's not so great: Nothing. It's Dylan

A Terrfic Album Which Is Often Ignored
on July 4, 2009

This album is sometimes overlooked by Stones fans, which is a big mistake. Mick Jagger and the boys are at their best as they perform hits like "Gimme Shelter", "Midnight Rambler", "Love in Vain", "You Can't Always Get What You Want", and the title cut.
The Stones again demonstrate their energy and worthiness to be called the world's best rock/blues band.
Modestly priced, this album pays dividends in enjoyment and every rock fan worth their salt should add it to their collection.
What's great about it: Vintage Rock and Blues from the Stones

Best CD Set Ever Released, Without Question
on June 12, 2009

Never in my 40+ years of collecting music albums and CD's have I ever found a more moving experience than I had with this set , which features the 19 songs released before his death and 41 previously unreleased cuts.
This collection is the ultimate collection for any music lover. Of couse, all of his giant hits are included, but it is the unreleased songs that give a clue to where Buddy was going to go with his music.
For example, there is his cover version of Elvis Presley's "You're So Square", as well as other covers of songs from his contemporaries.
His main insight though. was to envision what has now become known as country rock-which is clearly evident in this very collectible set.
It is a bargain at any price !!!!!! But, is offered at a very modest - almost ridiculous- low price.
Everyone who appreciates music should have this in their collection.
If you don't, then BABY, YOU ARE SO SQUARE !!!!
What's great about it: Holly's Hits + 41 Previously Unreleased Songs

22 Great Performances from Dyla
on June 1, 2009

Dylan is in top form on this low-priced double CD set. This album is a classic example of what makes Dylan great. The songs (22 in all) are all well chosen to illustrate every side of his broad spectrum, be it his composing or his presentation. This is one of his best in both fields. It demonstrates why he is still the #1 poet of the 60's folk generation after all these years. He is timeless.
If you don't have this in your collection, you should add it now. It is superb !
What's great about it: Energetic perfomances on every cut

A Piece of Early Rock History
on January 16, 2009

Dee Clark, the son of a gospel singer, progressed from doo-wop in his early years to a become a successful R&B/Pop singer in the late 1950's and early 1960's. He had several minor hits-"Hey,Little Girl", "Just Keep It Up", and "Nobody But You", but in 1961 he left a mark on Rock History that endures today.
His rendition of "Raindrops" used unique sound effects (sound of heavy rain and lightning), and it immediately vaulted to #2 on the hit charts and became his signature song as well as a favorite for DJ's.
This, and his minor hits, are featured on this "hard to find" album, which is a must for every fan of early rock.
What's great about it: Contains A Song That Is Unique for Sound Effects

The Late Bobby Darin was so talented, and this album showcases just how much.
All his early hits are here -"Splish, Splash", "Mack the Knife", "Dream Lover", and many more. (20 hits in all).
He is especially effective on his version of "If I Were A Carpenter".
This is a "Must Have" for all the fans of his rock career as well as his
later endeavors, which included being one of the most dynamic Las Vegas performers of all time.
What's great about it: The Versatility od Darin

Buy This US Bonds Album, Get "Dividends" In Hits
on November 15, 2008

US Bonds, later known as Gary US Bonds, was a hit machine in the early 60's. His "Quarter To Three" hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and was later voted as one of the top 500 records that influenced Rock and Roll History. "School Is Out", "New Orleans" , "Dear Lady Twist" and "Twist, Twist, Senora" all were top 10 hits for him. Featured also are many of his other Top 100 hits.
His effect on music really came into play on his 1963 European Tour- he was the "Headliner" over a group known as the Beatles !
This modestly priced album is a steal for all collectors and fans of great rock.
What's great about it: Includes 6 Hits That Shaped Rock History
