Amazing Noise Cancelling Headphones

Bose, in my opinion, is one of the most trusted brands in the world. Whenever you buy a Bose product you know you’re getting a quality piece of equipment. Everything I’ve owned for the past 20+ years from them has held up well and always performed as it should. Whenever I travel, I always use their noise cancelling headphones because it is the best at drowning out Airplane cabin noise while still delivering great quality sound. These new QuietComfort Wireless Noise Cancelling will be the 3rd set I’ve owned from Bose and they performed exactly as I expected them to.
Initial unboxing of the headphones was simple with minimalistic packaging. I always appreciate the nice leather cases they include with their headsets. The headphones come with a very short charging cable that could stand to be a bit longer. Initial charging had the headphones dangling from the wall. Once charged, the initial setup with the Bose Music app took less than 30 seconds. The app itself can control many functions of the headset including a Quiet (Noise cancelling) or Aware mode, which allows you to hear others around you. You also can create your own modes and the level of noise cancelling for that created mode. There’s also an EQ mode that allows the bass, mid and treble to be adjusted. The app will allow you to adjust volume and shows the battery life of the headphones. The Source allows you to change your Bluetooth connections with the headset. And the Shortcut button can add functionality to the left side button for battery level or spotify shortcuts. Hopefully they will add more options for that in the future. The app also allows you to software update as well as adjust Auto Power Off options. Overall, I’m very impressed with the robust functionality of the app.
The bread and butter of these headphones is the Noise Cancelling ability and quality of the sound. I don’t believe there is a better set of travel headphones on the market. These headphones deliver crisp beautiful sound whether it’s action movies or any type of music you throw at it. The noise cancellation works to perfection without being too overpowering. Not to mention they’re comfortable, you can wear these headphones for hours and not feel like your ears hurt, which is very rare for me. The battery life so far in testing has been great and has lasted long enough for any task I’ve thrown at it. I’ve enjoyed having the exterior buttons to change songs and switching between Active and Quiet mode on the fly.
In conclusion I can’t recommend these headphones enough. The QuietComfort Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones are the best headphones on the market, period. They produce quality sound, amazing noise cancelling technology with a solid rechargeable battery life, app connectivity and they’re very comfortable! What more could you ask for in a headset?! Buy them, you won’t be disappointed.

A Beautiful Work Of Art!

The Technics - SL-1500C is an absolutely beautiful piece of machinery. I have been a vinyl enthusiast for the past 15 years collecting many vintage and new release records and I always prefer to listen to a record over digital. I had a Stanton turntable before this and it did a fine job but the SL-1500C is on a whole different level entirely.
From the moment I opened the box I could tell that the utmost thought and care was put into the design and packaging of this turntable. Everything was packaged perfectly with plenty of padding. The instructions that were included were straight forward and easy to understand and I was up and running in about 30 minutes. The turntable itself is stunning, the white finish is classy and elegant with beautiful silver buttons that give it a timeless look. I really appreciate how robust the tonearm adjustments can be with the rotating weight, auxiliary weight, anti skipping features, height adjustments with locking mechanism and auto lifter function at the end of the record. I plugged the turntable into my Marshall speaker and the tones I got from the included Ortofon 2M Red Phono Cartridge were amazing. I played multiple different records from the new Allen Stone to older Beatles records to really get a feel for how it handled newer and older vinyl and it played everything beautifully. There is a rich vibrant tone to Vinyl records that just can’t be replicated in MP3’s or streaming services. I was blown away by the careless direct drive motor in the SL-1500C as it’s completely silent with adjustments for 33,45, and 78 RPM LP’s. It played every record I threw at it flawlessly with no vibrations whatsoever. The dust cover and high quality rubber mat are an especially nice touch as it rounds out the entire presentation for the SL-1500C. All of these features and more make the Technics SL1500-C a winner for anyone looking for a high quality well built and highly adjustable turntable. It makes a stunning centerpiece to your home audio setup and one that will surely be a conversation starter whenever you have guests over. I’m my opinion it’s the nicest turntable I will probably ever own and will likely have for the rest of my life. Technics should be applauded for continuing to make such a beautiful product at a time when everything is turning digital.

Amazing Soundbar Experience!

The Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar is an incredible addition to any home theater setup. Bose is synonymous with quality sound equipment. I own their Noise cancelling headphones, Bluetooth speakers, and a portable PA system, and all of them are the best products in their category in my opinion. So, it was no surprise to me that when I got the new Ultra Soundbar in my home it blew away my previous tv speaker setup by leaps and bounds. But let’s dive into the meats and potatoes of what makes this soundbar so good.
Initial unboxing and setup were very simple and straightforward. The speaker comes in a classy glossy black finish, its downright sexy if I’m being honest. The speaker is lightweight for its size and fit perfectly on my mantle under the tv in our Living room. Provided with the speaker was a high-speed HDMI ethernet cable, a remote, a power cable and a weird looking headset which I’ll get to in a bit. Setting up the speaker itself I took notice of the additional ports behind the speaker for an ethernet cable (but the speaker does have built in Wifi) and optical cable, an AdaptiQ port and a bass plug. Additionally, you can add wireless bass modules 500 and 700 along with the Bose Surround 700 speakers for a complete home theater system.
Once everything was hooked up, I used the Bose app to get the speaker setup. It instantly found the speaker and did a software update and then had me do an AdaptiQ sound setup for my room using the headset provided. AdaptiQ considers how your speaker sounds depending on where you sit and adjusts settings accordingly. I found it to be an intuitive feature with the ability to tweak and adjust as needed. The Bose app is very impressive and compliments the speaker very well. It has a multitude of features at your disposal, you can completely control the volume, source, and adjust settings all from your phone. I was able to change the CEC option, so my speaker automatically turns on when I power up the TV. You can connect additional speakers, music services such as Pandora and Spotify, enable Chromecast streaming and Voice assistance through Alexa. Theres also a Voice4Video feature that is extremely impressive in that if you have a cable box attached to your tv you can change channels, HDMI inputs, play music and make phone calls all using voice commands. Being able to say things like Alexa “Watch NFL Network” and it changes on the fly is amazing! The app also has access to things like Local Radio and Podcasts which are sure to be a hit with my wife since she loves her Dateline podcasts and you can even save them as Presets. Another very cool feature is being able to connect your Noise Cancelling headphones or another portable speaker to the setup as well. Overall I was very impressed by all the features the App brings to the speaker itself.
The most important part of a sound bar must be the overall quality of the sound, because let’s be honest what’s the point of a bunch of features if the sound isn’t great and this is where the Bose Ultra Sound Bar really excels. With nine total speakers inside this beautiful sound bar, it delivers a rich and immersive audio experience for any home theater or music fan. I am a huge music junkie so the first thing I did once setup was play some of my favorite tunes to see how it sounds and was amazed by how crisp and clear the music was. You would think not having a separate base module would make the sound muddy but that’s not the case at all. I was blown away by how loud the speaker could get as well. I can just envision myself for years to come playing music in our family room through this speaker and it fills my heart with joy. The experience watching movies is no different. There is an especially cool AI feature that they’ve added that detects when vocals are being played and it allows the speakers to separate those to make sure you don’t miss key dialogue in intense sounding scenes. We watched Avatar 2 Way of the Water as the first movie, and I was really impressed by the overall sound quality. For being just a single sound bar, it blew me away with how well it can act as a complete surround sound experience. I think if you paired this with the wireless bass module you would be hard pressed to find a better surround sound experience for the money. We came away very impressed by the movie quality sound and look forward to watching many more movies with this setup.
Overall, I can’t recommend the Bose Smart Ultra Sound bar enough for someone looking for an all in one home theater experience. Solid Ice Maker with some Minor Flaws.

The Insignia Nugget Ice Maker is a product I’ve always wanted in my home, so I was excited to get my hands on one to see how it performed. The unit was easy to initially setup and the instructions were straight forward. The Ice Maker is heavy so I don’t really consider this to be a portable device, but I guess you could take it anywhere where you have an outlet and use it. Instructions require that you put the Ice Maker in a well-ventilated area so it can breathe as the side fan puts off some heated air. Once installed where you want it to go you must run a Vinegar/Water mixture through the unit to initially clean it, which takes about twenty minutes total and it advises that you clean it every 3 days. Afterwards I wiped down the inside with a Baking soda and water solution, and we were off and running ready to make some ice. The one thing that struck me as odd and a rather weird design choice is the placement of the water tank in the bottom of the unit to make the ice. My mother in law has a GE Opal Ice maker and their ice maker has a separate water tank that hangs on the outside of the unit and is easily accessible to refill. With the Insignia it’s at the bottom of the unit itself and the opening is not very big so when I’m using my Brita I had to tilt the unit back in order to fully empty my jug. I suppose going forward I could use a gallon water jug to pour it in, but to me it’s a poor design choice. The ice starts making producing quickly, about 10-12 minutes it will start producing cubes but they don’t come out particularly fast so if you’re planning on throwing a party and need a full tray of ice for it I suggest doing it about 2 hours ahead of time. There’s a blue light inside of it that adds a nice effect and you can watch the ice being made and a drip tray to keep any water from getting on the countertop. The nuggets are a nice small rectangular shape and perfect for mixed drinks, soft drinks, or someone who is looking for these small pellet ice cubes like Sonic and some restaurants have. The one other feature I wish it had is the ability to keep the ice cold after being made. Unfortunately, if you want to keep the ice for a long period of time it needs to be put in a Ziploc bag and moved to your freezer otherwise it will melt.
In conclusion, the Insignia Ice Maker is a solid product, my wife and I are excited to have it in our home and will be using it daily for our drinks. The minor quibbles I have with the product don’t detract from the awesome ice it produces and I would recommend it for someone looking for a pellet ice maker in their home!

Top of the Line Mesh System!

Linksys has been my router of choice for the past 20+ years of computing. I’ve owned multiple different routers from and they’re always dependable and get the job done. The last Mesh system I had from them was their first foray into Mesh and while it worked well the installation always seemed to be finnicky at best. I had the opportunity earlier this year to get my hands on Eero 6e mesh routers and made the switch because of the 6e capability. While the Eero has been fine I wanted to directly compare the New Linksys Velop Pro 6e system to see if I would get better speeds and I’m glad I went back to Linksys!
The initial unboxing of the Linksys Velop Pro 6e was very straightforward. The packaging is minimalistic, made of 60 percent recycled materials, which I can appreciate! Once unwrapped and setup I redownloaded my old Linksys app and got to work on installing the routers. I was pleasantly surprised this time around as setup was easy and took very little work on my part. Within 5 minutes I was up and running with a new Mesh network. The system comes with 3 different nodes that are said to cover a 9000 square foot home, we only live in a 3200 square ft home so plenty of room to spare. The Velop system comes with a 3-year warranty and 24/7 customer service, which is a nice touch. After getting all the Nodes setup I got to work switching over all my tv’s and computers and then ran some speed tests. I made sure to test under the same conditions for both the Eero and the Linksys setup and the Linksys was faster hands down. I have 1gb fiber AT&T internet in my home. With the Eero setup through my Iphone I was averaging around 313mb download and 177mb upload. With the Linksys setup I am now getting speeds of 400mb+ on download and now over 594 mb on upload! I was astounded by the difference right out of the box. I am a heavy gamer and internet user so download and upload speed are very important to me. On my computer I was able to get roughly 600mb upload and download plugged directly into the Node, and this is with it showing a 4 bar connection instead of 5 bar with the main node. Mind you I am upstairs in the back corner of my house and the Eero struggled to keep my printer on the network in this office. I’ve had no such problems so far with the Linksys. With some more tweaking of node placement in my office I’m sure I will get even higher speeds.
I’m not a huge power user when it comes to settings inside the app, I won’t pretend to know what I’m doing with advanced settings so I will leave those alone most of the time. But I can appreciate the parental controls which limit children’s ability to be on the internet all day and blocking specific websites. The ability to pick 3 devices in the home with higher priority is a nice touch as well! You can also add a guest network if you don’t want people visiting to use the main Wifi.

Powerhouse of a TV!

The Hisense U8K 75-inch TV is a powerhouse that should be considered by anyone looking for a new TV this year!
Hisense isn’t a brand I was too familiar with for TV’s up until a few years ago. I’ve always gravitated towards Sony in the 90’s and Samsung throughout the 2000’s. The only product I previously owned by Hisense was an outdoor refrigerator. I’ve now owned a 65” TV and the 75” U7K, and now have upgraded to the U8K. I was very excited to get my hands on the U8K and see all the new features and upgrades they’ve put into the tv this year!

I was very excited to get my hands on the U8K and see all the new features and upgrades they’ve put into the tv this year!
Initial unboxing was easy and straightforward but recommend having two people for the initial setup. The 75-inch clocked in at around 80 pounds unboxed and the screw on legs were simple to install. Since it’s a google tv I linked my YouTube TV account with it and loaded all my apps. I wasn’t a fan of android style tv’s at first, but they’ve grown on me. The google hands free search function is quite handy and I love the integration on the home screen with different YouTube videos and things you’ve watched in the past. I love the Chromecast feature built in. Compared to a Samsung TV experience it feels much more tailored to you as the individual viewer.
The TV itself is full of top-of-the-line features that anyone will want in a new tv. I’ve been upgrading my tv regularly since the rear projection days and have always tried to find the balance between features and price, and I believe Hisense strikes the right chord with the U8K series. Mini LED is the latest and greatest for maximum control of your colors and brightness across the entire screen. Gone are the days of screen bleed or hotspots on the screen. I was astounded by the brightness this screen puts out even compared to last year’s U7K. The peak brightness is 1500 (which I can’t measure) and they said they doubled the local dimming zones compared to last year and I think it’s made a noticeable improvement to an already great tv. The colors this tv puts out are just incredible. I usually always rate a tv by its blacks. The blacks on this TV are rich and true and you’re able to see separations in different dark scenes with games like Last of Us 2. Which brings me to the gaming portion of this review. This tv is a BEAST for gaming. I’ve never seen a TV incorporate the AMD Freesync Premium Pro gaming bar, but I think it should be a standard for any gaming tv going forward. The 144hz refresh rate is amazing and being able to control your VRR on the fly and really hone in the HDR settings makes this tv a powerhouse. Couple that with a 2.1.2 surround sound experience with Dolby Atmos and IMAX enhanced and you really have a great versatile TV for any occasion. The tv is also equipped with 2 HDMI 2.1 ports able to handle 144hz (4 total). Wifi 6e was especially cool to see as it’s one of the first electronic items I have in my home that takes advantage of my new Eero 6’s. Apple home and Airplay also work with the tv, which I found always good in a pinch when wanting to stream videos. Also included is a brand new NextGen TV ATSC 3.0 tuner which is the new standard for Tv tuners going forward and basically helps future proof the device! One feature I find cool is the ability to “Find My Remote” if it happens to go missing! Clever indeed!
All in all, I really am impressed by the U8K by Hisense. The tv is bright, beautiful and packed full of customization and gaming features and comes with a 2-year warranty! What more could you ask for? I highly recommend this tv.

Amazing Laptop for any Gamer!

Alienware is one of the leaders in the computer gaming industry so I was excited to get my hands on the new M16 Gaming Laptop. This laptop is packed with top end processing power and graphics cards with a sleek and sophisticated design that will suit almost any gamer.
Initial unboxing and setup was simple and straightforward. Setup with Windows Pro took a few moments and was easy and breezy. First thing I always do with new computers is update bios and firmware for graphics cards and make sure everything in Windows is up to date. Once I had the appropriate apps and graphics drivers installed I was able to put the laptop through some rigorous testing and came away satisfied with the results. This laptop basically can handle anything you throw at it gaming wise. The RTX4070 barely breaks a sweat with any game. Apex Legends runs smooth as silk with no screen tearing whatsoever. Microsoft Flight Sim is beautiful, crisp, and clear on my 34 inch Samsung Monitor. The new Diablo 4 is stunning and runs like a champ. My personal favorite currently Hi-Fi Rush looks incredible as well! I don’t get too involved in FPS and hard numbers, I tend to trust what looks good to me and my gaming experience, but I did the benchmark

I was getting over 600mb download speeds through wifi which is impressive! The monitor on the laptop is an unusual 2560x1600 but has a 165hz refresh rate and has wonderful brightness and colors. The speakers on the laptop utilize Dolby Atmos and sound fantastic. The front facing camera is only 720p which is a little bit of a letdown but still looked decent upon zoom testing. It’s also a nice touch that it comes with a SD card reader, which not all laptops do anymore. One thing I wanted to highlight on with this particular laptop is the Keyboard. I don’t think I’ve ever felt a better typing keyboard on a laptop in my life, and I’ve had over 10-15 laptops in my gaming/computer life. With the backlit and RGB colors it’s the best and totally customizable, it just feels like butter under your fingertips.

All things considered I really think this is a great offering this year by Alienware. I would be hard pressed to find any gamer that wouldn’t be happy to be using this laptop and I think it’s a solid machine backed by a great warranty with Alienware. I highly recommend.

Very Well Designed Printer.

The HP LaserJet Pro 4301FDW is a powerhouse Laserjet printer for your office or family setup.
I’ve owned HP printers for about 20+ years now. Hewlett Packard is the pioneer of printers in my opinion. They have stayed the one constant in the computing printing world and have not relinquished that number one status. I have owned some good and bad HP products in the past but have always found them to be mostly user friendly printers that hold up over a long period of time until you’re ready for an upgrade.
Enter the HP Laserjet Pro 4301FDW. This is a robust and beautiful machine with all the bells and whistles you could want in a printer. The printer itself has nice blue accents and an easy to use touch screen but comes in weighing a hefty 43 pounds. Out of the box it took me less than 5 minutes to setup, which was a nice relief because in the past I haven’t had the same experience. Initially Airprint on my iphone did not work but after power cycling the printer and phone I was able to get it to work. The printer itself is blazing fast with a faster output rate than most people will need at 35 color pages per minute. I tested out a couple full size photos from my phone and the printer actually does a pretty decent job on normal paper. I wouldn’t call it a photo printer but it will work in a pinch! The printer will do Duplex printing no problem and can print on both sides simultaneously which is impressive. There is a copier/scanner on top which I used to scan a few documents and they were very clear and precise copies. The touch screen is user friendly and has all the options you would need for any home or office setup.
The only downfall I have to say is the printer utilizes 4 different cartridges, which say they will print out 5500 pages but clock in at a whopping $200+ per cartridge. Meaning a full 4 cartridges refill is more than the cost of the printer itself. I’m not sure when ink got THAT expensive but that’s insane in my opinion. I will use this primarily for business purposes at home but hopefully the cartridges it came with will last a few months.
All in all I am very impressed with this LaserJet Pro 4301FDW. It is a robust and well designed printer that is fast, quiet and easy to use. Although the cartridge price is insane I do think this has a place in a office environment for businesses that want a well designed and user friendly printer.

Outstanding carpet cleaning vacuum!!

The Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam Vacuum is a fantastic option for carpet cleaning in your home.
I have 2 dogs and a 2 year old with brand new carpets. My dogs have random accidents and I’ve used a small portable machine to treat the spots but they didn’t get the stain or smell up completely. So I was interested to see how the Bissell Hydrosteam would handle some aged stains on my carpet.
Initial setup with the hydrosteam was simple and straightforward. It only took me about a minute or two to get everything put together. The top container holds the cleaner and is clearly marked with water and solution measurements for small and large areas. The unit has 3 separate modes a Pretreating Steam Mode to help with tougher stains. Max Clean for a deep 8 hour drying clean, and then a Quick Dry mode which will claim to have carpet dry in 30 minutes or less. I used the Steam and Max Clean mode on my dogs stains and they did a fantastic job. The stains came out and the carpet doesn’t smell anymore! I was also able to use the unit in high traffic areas and it really does a great job cleaning the carpet. I was impressed by the amount of dirt in the bottom container. After I was finished the brushes were easy to clean and remove all the excess dog hair. The unit also comes with hose attachments for stairs or couches. I will undoubtedly use those at some point! Overall I am very impressed with the Bissell Hydrostream Vacuum. It’s a heavy duty carpet cleaner with multiple modes and attachments that’s simple to use with great results. It’s a must have for someone with messy children or pets that have occasional accidents. I highly recommend it!

Optimus has finally hit his Prime

The Robosen Tranformers Optimus Prime Elite G1 is an interesting conundrum. It is without a doubt a technical masterpiece, one that Robosen should be very proud of achieving. 5 year old me wishes something like this existed in the 1980’s. But at a hefty price tag of $700 you’re probably wondering is it really worth it?
I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s with Legos, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, and WWF action figures. As I’ve gotten older I still have very fond memories of playing with my toys in the basement and using my imagination to make these toys come to life. Fast forward to 2023 and a lot of the franchises still exist today and tug at our nostalgia heartstrings. And lately there has become a huge market for high end toys for adults. Lego sets now average $500 for a bigger set. So it’s not surprising that a product like the Optimus Prime Elite G1 was made. It is a very cool gadget but I wouldn’t necessarily call it a “toy”. It’s not made for a 5 year old to have imaginary play, it’s made for someone who grew up wanting Optimus Prime to come to life and that’s essentially what Robosen has done.
The packaging and overall experience of setting up Optimus is very impressive. The hard case it comes in doubles as a nice storage container. Everything was well thought out and carefully planned which I can appreciate. Booting up Optimus for the first time is pretty amazing. Optimus can be controlled two ways, by voice commands or the App via Bluetooth. When you say “Hey Optimus Prime” he responds with “Greetings” and then listens for your command.
The first time seeing him transform is something special. It totally is a WOW moment. I recorded it and sent it to all my 30 something friends and the reaction was basically the same every time. There are 40 different voice commands and also extra commands that he can learn by downloading them through the app. Another cool feature is the ability to customize multiple commands in a row by saying Customize and then telling Optimus all the different commands you want him to do. Then saying the words “Start Actions” sets them in motion. The app does basically the same thing but I did notice a bug that once connected the voice commands no longer worked until you disconnected the Bluetooth. The “missions” in the app are basically a way to customize and program your own actions but I honestly found them to be a bit cumbersome to do. The remote control mode allows you to use your phone to do specific actions and also drive Optimus in truck mode, but the dial wasn’t responsive enough for quick maneuvering in a tight space There’s also a photo mode as well that allows you to record him while controlling Optimus through the phone. This gadget really has the wow factor to it but after about an hour or so of doing the commands it loses a little bit of its cool factor. I think this really appeals to the hardcore Transformer fan that really wants a showcase piece for their collection. At a price tag of 700 dollars I just don’t necessarily think the value is there. But I think if you really are purchasing this item you aren’t looking at the price tag. This is just something you either have to have or don’t care about at all. All in all it’s very impressive and Robosen should be very proud of what they have achieved. If this is the start of advanced robotics in toys I can’t wait to see where we will be in the next 30 years from now.

By now everyone knows about the commuter and defender otterbox series. The otterbox has recently gotten sleeker, shedding alot of the extra bulk from previous generations, so I decided to go with this model for my Iphone 6. It fits the phone nicely, the only gripe I have with the case is there is a little bit of wiggle room at the top kind of like a gap between the hard and soft plastic. I'm not sure if this is true to all the commuters, I may go back tomorrow and try and find another commuter that might fit better.

Opted for the Symmetry

After having this case for almost a week now and the gap between the plastic not going away I decided to go check out the symmetry series. Although it doesn't have the screen protector, and the hole for the Apple logo on the back, I actually feel like the symmetry is sturdier and sleeker than the commuter.
On a side note I spoke with Otterbox about the commuter to see if maybe the case wasn't supposed to have the gap and it was a manufacturing issue. She said they had more than a few reports about it, and that they are looking into whether or not they need to make a change or whether it was a certain supplier that had the error. She told me to hold onto my case and check back in a few months and that if they made any adjustments they would gladly replace it for free. So worst case scenario you buy the case, it has a slight droop in it for a few months while you wait for Otterbox to perfect the case and then you call in and get a replacement for free because they already know about the issue.

Yes it can support up to 5. But with 3 you can cover a 6000sq ft house. So unless you live in a huge house you don't really need more than 3.
