My previous gaming computer was a ROG-Z with a Ryzen 7, 3750H processor. It was plenty fast for my needs, but I had a chance to acquire this Acer Predator gaming laptop. Prior to my ROG-Z gaming laptop, I had an Acer gaming laptop (Nitro from 2018). I was really underwhelmed by the previous Acer product and hated the red backlit keyboard. I got rid of this Acer and purchased the ROG-Z and was happier with it
So it goes that I wanted to upgrade from my now 2 year old ROG gaming laptop to something newer and I decided to test another ACER - I learned to avoid their budget level and went for something comparable to the ROG one.
I am blown away by this new ACER.
This is definitely a more premium unit with a metal body against the cheap plastic of the NITRO series. This laptop is also got some weight to it - perfect for being a more desktop bound unit. The keyboard is absolutely stunning in an easily readable white lighting. The display is amazing as well for the money. It is not a touch sensitive one but that didn't matter to me.
Performance observations - just in updating Windows and installing programs - this thing is blazing fast. It is very noticeably faster than my ROG - of course two years separate these processors. This Acer Predator has a wonderful Intel i7 11th generation chip. And while this has the same amount of ram as the ROG-Z, it feels like it has more ram.
I ran the Time Spy 3DMark test on both units - the Ryzen 7 (2019) produced a main score (left side of the score panel); the Acer was incredible as it ran a 7408 in the same test. In the other subscores on the right side of the panel, Graphics scores increased from the ROG-Z's 4411 to the Acer Predator's 7262; the CPU score of the ROG-z was 3166 while the Acer more than doubled that to 8364.
Impressions
I could easily tell the difference in responsiveness from the ROG-z with the Acer Predator. On the Windows 10 updates, this thing was simply amazing as it blazed through the updates - even going into the forced 21h2 update which can take an eternity on some computers, it was incredible how quickly it was installed on this.
Visually the screen results are amazing compared to the ROG-Z. I could actually tell a visible difference in how the 3DMark game played. The ROG-Z had almost the appearance of a weak 1080 upscale whereas the Acer Predator delivered crystal clear images without any hint of pixelation. Movement was butter smooth.
I edit videos with my ROG-Z, but will be switching over to the Acer Predator soon enough. I've only had the Acer for about 8 hours but I can say that there is such a noticeable difference that the ROG-Z could end up being sold.
Overall.
You get what you pay for in computers. If you do not need a light and mobile laptop, this Acer Predator is simply stunning. I don't often give glowing reviews for products because I expect a lot and rarely does something impress me at every turn. This computer was a delight to experience and I can't wait to use it more!

Sometimes hardware surprises you. You go in with expectations that are rarely met by hardware and you become disappointed.
I am blown away by this Canon scanner.
I followed the install directions to the letter. Before hooking up the scanner to the computer, I downloaded the software and installed it. Then I hooked up the scanner.
Moments later this scanner was ready to use. I have an application that is notorious for having issues with being picky with scanners, and even that program responded right away by recognizing the scanner and the document was scanned into a client file.
I then checked to see if the document could be used outside of an application and scanned the document without any issues.
This scanner is amazingly fast. Once you make sure you have put the document face down and flipped over, there are no problems whatsoever with this scanner. You can scan multiple pages using the sheet feed hopper.
I highly recommend this scanner. Seems well built and its a Canon!

I have been using flat panel monitors since they first came out and have never had a "curved" monitor. I have up to 27 inches of flat panel real estate on several monitors and have not found game play to be diminished one bit.
With regard to this monitor, it is as good as usual Dell monitors though I was disappointed with the pixel density. I wear glasses and the monitor is still several feet in distance away from me and I kept noticing the dots on the screen. I had replaced a 24 inch dell flat panel monitor with this one and I saw no net improvement in the overall picture quality.
Of note with this monitor is that it does appear to be more color true than the unit it replaced. In particular, the darker colors appeared to be more distinct in every game that I played than on the flat panel dell/alienware monitor that this replaced. Again, this is a purely subjective observation - just like the pixel viewing that seemed more prominent on this unit versus the prior one.
As far as the "curved" nature. I'm not convinced at all that a monitor this small benefits at all from being curved. I felt no immersed into the games played with such a tiny monitor with a curve than I had with the flat panel one. As a moderate gamer (one who plays upon occasion - once a week), I have had no problem being immersed in a game after several minutes of play with a flat panel. The curved nature of this monitor seems more of a gimmick than of substance to me. I can certainly see that having three of these might create a better experience if one had the desk real estate (I do); I'd rather spend money on a much larger curved monitor if I wanted this "experience".
My recommendation would be to buy a larger curved monitor that will truly give you a better viewing experience tapping into peripheral vision (which this monitor never did). Buy this if you have a tiny desk or a similar budget; but nothing about this monitor is so good as to choose it over a quality flat panel if you can buy that flat panel at a lower cost.

Being diabetic, I have to do many dishes with original and fresh ingredients to avoid "added sugar" that comes with most prepared and processed food.
And so I approach the Ninja Power Blender.
I'm a sucker for fresh spaghetti sauce. I love the chunks of tomato and onion but I don't want it sweet - not sure why our foods are so laced with sugar, but I digress.
I used the pulse feature of this machine and poured in my quartered tomatoes and a can of tomato paste (no sugar added). Mixed in with onions and garlic and oregano I hit the pulse button several times until this had the right consistency - not to chunky, but not smooth like tomato sauce. It had some body to it.
What amazed me about this machine was how it had suction cup feet that held the device firmly to my counter top. I loved the easy to remove top (push button, fold up handle, lift off top) and how easy the blades were to remove. I poured the contents into the sauce pan to simmer for several hours.
Cleanup was amazingly simple. I've had some blenders that were problematic to get all the debris out of the unit, but this one was absolutely a joy to clean.
I have several Ninja items and I have yet to be disappointed. This is worth every penny as you can do smoothies and crush ice with it. My next project is to do fresh salsa!

I have been a "cord-cutter" for longer than there was an actual term for it. I've tried several different kind of OTA antenna - ranging from flat ones to far more expensive and larger outside ones.
This one is exceptional for the money.
I followed the instructions and used the app recommended for its placement and replaced an existing large antenna with this one and the results were simply amazing. The large one was sometimes losing channels on bad weather days; this one did just as well as the large on even when it was inside.
To make the comparison fair, I left all the channels that were pulled in with the large one (in my area that was over 40 different channels) and the smaller and less expensive one pulled all but four channels (those four were from a more remote location but were shopping channels that I already could receive - redundant).
The clarity of the picture was superb and better than the larger antenna. For the money you'd be hard pressed finding something that is this good.

This is my first food processor though I've had blenders which do limited functions - but not as well as this real food processor. It is nice to have the shredding capability with the different blades.
Clean up is much easier in this than what I am used to as well. There is no leakage or spilling when lifting this out and there are no crevices on the main body to catch debris that make clean up a pain. Nice smooth inside.
While many food processors I find have buttons, this one has a dial. At first I thought this would be an annoyance, but I like the dial because on the pulse setting, I can hold the know while it does its thing and the spring loaded knob returns back to the off-setting just fine. Sometimes buttons can stick and then you have to find the off button on other models. Having a knob makes this really a one-step process!
The stainless steel exterior is impressive and gives a quality look which other brands don't have.
Overall, this is a simple to use, easy to clean product that does what it is supposed to do without a mess or overthinking.

I've never had an air purifier before though I've thought about getting one. I placed this in my bedroom where there seems to be a tendency to attract dust at a higher than expected rate.
As I have never used one of these before, I had no idea how to use one. I would have liked an instruction manual instead of having the information printed on the outside of the box. However, this unit appears to be fairly simple to use and the indicator light is interesting when it progresses from red to yellow to blue indicating air quality (from polluted to best). I have found that sniffles are less frequent after using this for about five days now and opening the bedroom door and walking in does have a different smell.
I will be experimenting with the placement of the unit after this review to see what effect that has on efficiency and results, but right now I have it near my bed and the unit even at its most "aggressive" setting hasn't kept me awake - almost a white noise machine like quality to the sound.
I do like the look of this unit and it appears to be very well priced for using in a bedroom to make that air the best that you can have. As I have not had an air purifier before, I have no comparison on how this competes against others, but it does work and the price-point is competitive.

The first thing I noticed about this laptop was its quality. The lid skin and the bottom of the laptop was made from metal and finished in a wonderful near chocolate color (Asus calls this color "mineral grey"). The aura of quality was enhanced as the edges were chamfered with an exposed metal finish that was striking in contrast.
By today's standard of lightweight at all costs laptops, this one has some heft to it - it is a 15 inch laptop and its construction is very solid with little to no flex at al. It just feels substantial and is a joy to hold and to look at.
I am not a new user to Asus products and this one really lived up to my expectations of what Asus can deliver (I started buying them five years ago and that first one is still going like new). This new laptop does not disappoint at all.
This unit features touch screen (1080 resolution) with a backlit keyboard and wireless AC which was easily pulling 500 mbps download using a speed test app. It is extremely responsive and is quiet in use.
I didn't use this for gaming as I wanted to see how it would replace my main Asus laptop (a two year old i5 with 12 gigs of ram). I have not been let down yet even though that laptop was hooked up to my wired network (gigabit). I have used this to edit videos and to take video shows that I've recorded and to edit them into different segments.
This laptop has a 500 gig ssd with intel optane feature and is a 4 core/ 8 thread i7 - 1165G7 processor running at 2.8 gigahertz. It is very responsive in whatever application I have used and I am very picky about responsiveness. I was given a ROG gaming computer for my birthday about six months ago and that one has a tendency to get slower and slower the longer it is on; a reboot will restore it to blazing speed with its Ryzen 7, but there are times when network speeds drop from over 800 mbps to 120 mbps and the system feels sluggish. But when both the ASUS and ROG are at their peak performance, I found the ASUS to be the most usable of the two for everyday tasks.
NOTE: This unit is a convertible laptop so it can go from laptop to a near tablet configuration and the screen adjusts to portrait mode if you hold it like a tablet or if you hold it like a wide screen, the screen will reconfigure to landscape mode.
Touchpad is nice (I usually don't like them) and keys are okay for most uses and there is a numeric keypad to the right of the main keyboard. Keyboard is backlit and has the ability to dim or to brighten (though I didn't think it was bright enough at max settings - not as good as the ROG I have in this instance).
If absolute low weight and small size ARE NOT your buying decisions, this new ASUS is a fantastic all around performer that gives you a real bargain for your dollar. It is made of military grade aluminum and structurally very stable and solid.
Unlike some laptops I have used, this unit instantly comes on after the lid is closed. I did set my computer up not to hibernate or to turn off the hard drive so this is an instant on machine once the lid is raised. In fact when it was coming out of the box and I opened the lid, the unit immediately came awake - very nice!
In the end, I would highly recommend this unit even given its regular price. This unit exudes quality and should be very durable and dependable given my past experience with ASUS products. And with this now being near the top of chip set features, it gives you something that you can use everyday for three to four years without need to upgrade. From what I understand, you cannot add ram to this but you could change out the ssd should you need to at a later time.

I bought this to upgrade one laptop only to find that the laptop, while it said it was NVME had a much shorter card space available; I thus ended up testing this two ways.
Desktop with PCIE 3.0 had write and read speeds around 3400 mbs - that was a significant upgrade from the 1400 I was seeing in the replacement drive.
I then decided to see what this drive would do after I wiped it and used it as an external drive so I purchased a name brand and quality NVME external enclosure that used usb-c. The speeds weren't as fast, but they were still around 1200 which surprised me and considerably faster than the spinning drive externals I had been using. I did tax this as an external drive by running a program that captured over a dozen video feeds and had them writing at the same time without a glitch of any sort. The unit did not get very hot and the case did a good job of dissipating heat.
I'd definitely recommend this drive - it is of course a Samsung which makes it a high quality product; it delivers as advertised and I can't wait to install it on my next computer that will have a PCIE 4.0 slot. This is a beast even as I use it now - it will be amazing later on!

I needed an external drive for my business laptop and this worked like a charm. It was fairly compact and came with a usb-c to usb-c cable as well as an adapter that could go to usb-3. I didn't need that converter.
I ran crystal disk mark 8 on this as well as on another external nvme drive that I had (a big name brand) and I was surprised that the SanDisk Extreme outperformed it using the same usb-c connection. I achieved first line read speeds of 464 MB/s with write speeds of 462 (rounded in both cases) while the very big name nvme external (their latest) turned in 427 and 446 respectively on the first line.
With regard to how hot this SanDisk runs, it is very reasonable to touch (warm, not hot) whereas the other nvme external which had a metal case and thermal pad is slightly warmer.to touch.
I would highly recommend this for portable storage - certainly this is very fast and SanDisk is a quality brand.

I had a tight budget with which to purchase a new laptop - I've been searching for months and nearly purchased a Dell (my preferred brand) on their website.
I happened to shop online at Bestbuy and discovered this computer for $329.99 - it hit every need that i had - and the ram was upgradeable for future needs - it was not a Pentium or Celeron processor which was a plus. Has a fifth gen i3 - and it simply exceeds what I expected at this price point.
I am so pleased with this purchase - the screen does lack a bit on contrast, but when hooked to HD monitor, the monitor resolves that. It streams Hulu and Netflix really well.
For the price, this unit is hard to beat.

Follow up remarks after a week or so of usage

Had purchased a laptop for my niece for Christmas, upgraded her Dell from 4 to 8 gb of ram - had her spare 4 gb ram and replaced the 2gb one in this laptop - performance upgrade was noticeable making laptop now an 8 gb unit.
I was curious about maxing out ram to the 12 gb limit noted and secured an 8 gb stick for $45 elsewhere and installed yesterday. Not as much difference in performance as going from 6 to 8 gb, but it is nice to have the ram at a great price - now unit still hasn't cost me $400 in total costs.
This is a great computer for the price - 5th gen i3 makes a big difference over the i3's from the past that I've used. The more I use this the more impressed I am with it. At this price it even outperforms some computers the company I work for has purchased at double the price.
I would definitely buy this again and another made by Asus.

I found this product to be less than satisfactory for anything but limited use.
First, installation is not intuitive - like some new products, there are NO INSTRUCTIONS - it has something that must be a picture based set of instructions, but it does not give you any clue what to do beyond 1 and 2. It does not tell you what to do next. You will have to go to bluetooth on your device and activate the pairing from a listing. Not sure why this was not mentioned at all. Volume controls are not described at all - they are the - and + signs on the body (in yellow).
Second, sound is okay - that is why I note it is limited. Better than nothing but certainly not great sounding.
Third, no instructions on charging this - there is a piece of ill fitting rubberized plastic at the base that hides the micro usb charging port. You'd think at least it would be labeled or ingrained with "usb".
I guess if you need a portable speaker for some device that is water resistant, this is okay. I wonder why you'd need one since I'd never put anything electrical near water.
I'm over 50 and I see no use for this other than to leave it in a place where I don't have speakers and to use it on a limited basis. Instructions are awful to non-existant and those debits are what bring down this score.
Too cute for its own good.

Since the initial write-up, I have found that this device works fine around the house if I needed to listen to iHeart radio from my tablet. The sound is acceptable and its portability is good though the small yellow cord really is of no use.

The advertisement and stated processor says its a 9th gen i7-9700 however if you click on the pdf information for this computer it states that it is an 8th Gen i7-8700? Also indicates that graphics are onboard and not the GPU?
I have one of these new ones and it is definitely a i7-9700.

Do you have to have internet connection to make it work
The point of this is to distribute wireless internet connectivity around the house. If all you want to do is to network computers, there are far better options. And I didn't find this system to be very good at doing what it was designed to do. Buy something else for less money.

No - but when you first use it - go to desktop live tile, use Internet Explorer and download "classic shell" - install the free app - it restores start menu and makes the computer look like Windows 7 and you still have the live tiles to use later as you get used to it.

Made in China and very cheap product - almost all plastic except for metal band inside the frame. Based on reviews I was expecting superb quality - well, this is budget cheap in construction.

Are the PX100 or 200 compatible with windows based PC?
Have an iPhone 3G would like to use the same headphone with my windows 7 computer...I travel so the folding is a great feature...
Works with my windows 8.1 laptop just fine. Just beware that the cord is shortish.
