CLASSIC!

Originals are tried and true. This classic film still stands through the tests of time as a Christmas season favorite. One of my favorite movies as a kid, especially around Christmas, was How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Even though I didn't realize how SHORT this film was, I always looked forward to it coming on TV, and now I can watch it anytime that I want. My toddler daughter has already seen it a couple of times and she refers to him as 'Mean Guy'. lol
If you don't own this film, buy it.
If nothing else, its good for the soul by helping us remember the point of Christmas.
What's great about it: the classic is put on DVD
What's not so great: I don't remember it being this short

Will your desperate struggle for survival be enough to get you through the onslaught?Left 4 Dead 2, the sequel to the acclaimed Left 4 Dead, ratchets up the terror with intense melee combat, greater customization options and more. Play as four new Survivors in a compelling new story that will take you from Savannah, Georgia, through the shadowed world of the bayou country and concluding in New Orleans' storied French Quarter. Arm yourself with melee weapons, such as an axe, chainsaw, frying pan and baseball bat, as you get up close and personal with your vicious zombie attackers. Customize your gameplay experience with the AI Director 2.0, which expands your ability to change weather effects, world objects, lighting, level layout and more for a unique challenge every time you come face to face with your potential extinction.

my current favorite of XBox 360

Throw on your gear, grab your weapons, and stretch your muscles! The zombies are here and its up to you and your partners to stop 'em!
As soon as this game starts your dropped in the middle of chaos. And, as you might have guessed, its an infinite amount of zombies constructing the chaos. Which leaves you only one option, blast your way through the town. But don't fret! You've got 3 partners to help you along the way, which you'll need against your fast-paced enemies. In single campaign, your partners can slow you down a bit, but in the online multiplayer, its a free-for-all shooting session. Please understand, online gaming is what games like this is made for.
I've owned a XBox for a fairly short amount of time, but this game is at the top of my list as far as XBox games. I love the graphics, the sounds, the gameplay, and the setting.
If ya dig apocalypse style games/movies like I do, definitely pick this game up. Highly highly recommended.
*I've heard some people say that this game is just like the first Left 4 Dead. I can't vouch for that, but if you're a first time L4D'er (like me), don't hesitate in buying this game.
Happy hunting!
What's great about it: loads upon loads of zombies
What's not so great: a little of the same ole same ole

THE BEST GAME EVER! Not quite, but decent enough.

*Note: I received this game before it came out because of the Guitar Hero promotion with Guitar Hero 5. So, this isn't one of those 'bunk' reviews that says "This game will be awesome!" before it is actually released. Just to be clear, I've actually played this game.
First off, I'm not the biggest Van Halen fan, but I do appreciate their music. And, this game offers a good variety of Van Halen's library. Please notice that I said Van Halen, and not Van Hagar. There's no trace or evidence of Sammy Hagar in this game. Whether that's a positive or negative is ultimately your choice. For me, I could have enjoyed some of the Hagar influence. Anyways, most of the songs are a challenge and that's what most GH fans are looking for. As for the difficulty, please remember that this game is dedicated to a band that has one of the most famous guitarists, ever. So, challenging songs should be a given. As for the song list, you have VH's list and there's a few songs from other bands added in, and that is a plus. Some of the other bands are Foo Fighters, Queen, Third Eye Blind, and a few others. Nothing against VH, but a little (and I stress little) variety is good.
In conclusion, this game is decent to solid. Not awesome, not horrible, but somewhere in between. If you're a diehard Van Halen fan, run to the store as soon as this game comes out. If you're just a Guitar Hero fan, walk to the store the first week this game comes out. If nothing else, you'll get some more songs to jam to. If you're unsure about this band or game, check the full song list and go from there.
What's great about it: new songs
What's not so great: felt like it came up short

another comedy classic

This movie had me laughing from start to finish. And, Paul Rudd and Jason Segel complimented each other well. I'm not sure this movie would have been as good if one of those two were taken out of the equation. Anyways, this movie has plenty for the guy crowd, a little for the gal crowd, and a ton of humor for all. So, any viewer should be pleased. Obviously, most of the humor is the silly kind, so just roll with it.
But for a short summary, it is as follows: guy never has a best friend, guy needs best man for his upcoming wedding, guy searches for best man/friend, and the story takes off into overdrive from there. And, the end result is........................................
a great movie.
What's great about it: Rudd & Segel work well together

my favorite HBO series
on September 14, 2009

ROME is by far my, and my wife's, favorite series from HBO. Most people learned the basics of Roman history in school, but this show provides a ton of drama left out of the classroom. The acting is 'spot on' and the story line keeps your interest throughout the series. I was extremely disappointed when I learned that the series would end after two seasons.
Note: I do not own the full season set. But, I own Seasons 1 and 2 separately. So, its basically the same thing. A few of the extras may be different.
What's great about it: awesome story and awesome characters
What's not so great: its a bummer that it only lasted 2 seasons

one of HBO's best

This is definitely one of HBO's finest series. To be fair, I was skeptical when I did some research before seeing the series. But now, I'm hooked! My wife and I absolutely love this show. It has the right mixture of drama, comedy, and horror to appeal to most HBO watchers. All of the characters are interesting in their own way. And, their stories are tied together brilliantly. A must own for any DVD set buyer.
Note: I wouldn't recommend this for any kids/teens that are into the whole Twilight mania. While True Blood is similar, it has a fair amount of adult language, drug use/references, nudity, etc.
What's great about it: if you dig vampires, then you'll enjoy it

another installment, another set of songs to play

Take a mp3 player and put it on shuffle. That's what this game's song list feels like. Which, that's not necessarily a bad thing, because I like most of the songs provided on this game. And, I appreciate the fact that GH is branching out to other genres of music by selecting bands/artists that you wouldn't expect, such as Gorillaz, Stevie Wonder, or Elton John. In my opinion, all the variety makes for a quite nice setlist. Plus, any purchased DLC (songs you downloaded for GHWT) are listed in your song list on this game, which is very very nice.
As far as the gameplay goes, there have been a few additions that are nice. The instant quickplay is different. As soon as you get into the GH5 game, it begins playing a song, and you have the choice of playing the song or going to the menu. Also, the jump in option is nice. For example, if one of your buddies or rocking comrades wants to join in, you no longer have to restart the song. They can jump in or out at anytime, which is an AWESOME addition to the game.
Overall, i'm pleased with my purchase so far. I'm especially pleased considering that i'll be receiving GH Van Halen due to this purchase, which makes this purchase a no brainer.
So, my advice is to definitely buy this game, especially if your wanting GHVH, and if you want it for free. My only complaint is that Nintendo decided to make this game $60 rather than $50. I realize that its only $10, but hey, we're in a slow economy, lol.
What's great about it: new and fresh songs
What's not so great: some could say that the song list is bland

I got this cd and immediately loved it. An overall rating for the entire cd is probably an A-, but the stand out songs are definitely stand outs. For example, Scream Aim Fire and Hearts Burst Into Fire are my two favorites. And, I could listen to them all day. In short, this is a great album from a very new and very good band.
What's great about it: lots of riffs

I had watched one episode of Deadwood before I bought this complete set. As it was, I got it for Christmas after reading enough reviews and talking to some buddies that had watched it. So, considering that I bought this series on a hunch, I could not be happier with my purchase.
Right out the gate, you get an idea of how rough a town like Deadwood was back in the day. Ian McShane was phenomenal as Al Swearengen. To give you an idea of how important he is throughout the show consider the following: if Deadwood was a human body, Swearengen would be its blood. And, McShane plays the role perfectly.
In addition to the great episodes, some of the episodes have audio commentary by the directors, actors, and producer, which I found to be very enjoyable. I had never listened to the commentary option on any DVD. But, I decided to give it a try with Deadwood, and I have absolutely enjoyed each one of them so far.
If there is any advice or warning that I can give you, its this: if you are offended by vulgar language, then you need to steer clear of this series, because it is FULL of it. At first it bothered me, but eventually I got to where I barely even noticed it. For one thing, I usually watched it late at night, and I usually had the subtitles on so that I wouldn't wake anyone else up. So, that might have helped.
Buy, buy, buy, if you are a fan of the show or very curious about the series.
What's great about it: UNFILTERED RAW SERIES!
What's not so great: only 3 seasons makes this series feel too short
I would recommend this to a friend!

how many tv inputs does the tv need to have to be able to play the wii

You only need one input. Yet, the one input should be the yellow/red/white input. Sometimes, you'll only have a yellow and a white input. The yellow is the video, and the white & red are the audio. If you don't have these, you'll have to get your hands on a coax converter, which hooks you into the 'threaded' device on the back of the tv, cable box, etc.

Hope this helps.....

Set up?

Is the Wii difficult to set up? Im not very tech talented.
Not at all. Its very simple and basic. Your 2 biggest questions will be if you want the Wii to be on its side or up. Then, where will you want the sensor bar. For me, I have the Wii in its stand, which is included in the box. And, I have the sensor bar at the bottom of my TV. Then, just plug in the power cable. And, finally hook up your red/white/yellow jacks to your TV. Congrats! Your now gaming like never before. Other than what I've mentioned, everything else is explained in the booklets that come with your Wii.
Hope this helps.

what is best deal for family of 7

Want to buy Wii console for Christmas, want to know what is best deal for our family of 7 ages 2-47. How many extra controller should I get (up to 4) ? Recommended games for beginners?
My advice, or what I did was as follows: buy Wii console, which comes with 1 controller and 1 nunchuk; buy Wii Play, which comes with a game and a controller (so the game is basically $10); buy an extra nunchuk; and, two extra controllers are luxuries, not necessarily must-haves, but you'll probably want them eventually (so that's ultimately up to you)

As for games for beginners, I would recommend WarioWare Smooth Moves. Which, its kinda goofy but still very fun, especially for the younger bunch. A newer game that TONS of people seem to like is Wii Sports Resort. It comes with a Wii MotionPlus accessory, which makes the Wii Remote more sensitive and accurate. If you get that game, I advise that you pick up another Wii MotionPlus accessory, which is $20. And, another favorite is Mario Kart Wii. A great racing game, and its definitely one of my favorites.

Hope this helps.

Wii Fit Plus offers the same package as Wii Fit (the original). Wii Fit Plus has the same workouts as Wii Fit, but with a few extra workouts. Your best bet would be to get Wii Fit Plus.

Other games compatible with Beatles R.B instruments

I just bought Beatles Rock Band Value Pack for my kids for christmas and I was wondering if the instruments and microphone is compatible with any Hero games? When I bought the bundle for Wii I was told they would work but now I have heard differently... really irritating. Stupid to have more than one set of instruments lying around.
I'm pretty sure that the Rock Band Beatles equip does not work with Guitar Hero games. However, the Guitar Hero equip works with Rock Band Beatles and Rock Band 2. But, not Rock Band (the original). My advice, would be to take back the Value Pack (if it isn't open), buy the Guitar Hero World Tour set for $99 (a lot of retailers have it for this amount, but not sure about Best Buy), buy the Rock Band Beatles software, and enjoy the tunes. All said and done, you should come out around the same price with an extra game. Rock Band's web page has a compatibility chart if you wanna check for sure. Hope this helps.
