Since I've started traveling more for work, I thought it was time to invest in a high-end set of headphones. I've always like the design style of B&O headphones, and almost picked up last year's H9i pair. I'm glad I waited because this year's H9, or H9 3rd Generation, is nearly perfect.
In the box, you get the H9's of course, as well as a branded B&O carrying pouch, USB-A to USB-C charging cable, standard 3.5mm aux cable as well as a flight adapter for going wired in-flight.
First off, the new H9's do away with the replaceable battery in last year's H9i's. While this was a bit of a bummer at the start, it quickly was rendered moot by the bigger battery B&O placed in the new H9's. They have a bigger battery versus last year's model, and consequently, better battery life. I was impressed to find that the bigger battery didn't seem to add that much difference in overall design or perception of weight in wearing the headphones. In fact, B&O is advertising these with up to 25 hours of active use, with ANC turned on. I've never reached a full day's worth of listening, but it's nice to know they'll have more than enough juice for those longer flights.
These are also more comfortable than the H9i's. The headband is softer and I've noticed I can wear these for much longer without feeling like my head's being squeezed or the weight pressing down on my head. Since the cups are also covered with a super-soft leather, the only thing I have noticed is that my ears can get a bit warm during periods of extended use.
The right cup sports the touch control mechanism. You can swipe up to toggle between ANC and Transparency mode. Transparency mode is a bit freaky, because it literally sounds like you're not wearing headphones. Another cool feature of toggling back and forth is that whatever I was listening to on my iPhone paused when I turned ANC off and then resumed when I switched back from Transparency mode. You can also move your finger in a circular motion to control volume, which takes a bit of getting used to, as well as swiping left to right to move between tracks.
The left cup sports the Google Assistant button. After you connect your headphones to Google Assistant, you can pretty much do everything you can with Assistant, even if your phone is locked. Again, like music, Google Assistant does not work with Transparency mode turned on. Transparency mode is really all about hearing what's going on around you.
The sound is beyond impressive. ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) is on by default and between movies, music, podcasts, videos, I was able to hear so much detail and definition that I was blown away. Unlike other brands, these seem to come out of the box pretty well balanced, but you can also change that using the BeoPlay app. The app calls them "Listening Modes" and you can attune the sound specifically for what you're doing.
So if I love these things so much, why only 4 stars? It might sound petty, but at $500, I was frustrated that they didn't come with a tougher carrying case. I get that the pouch is soft and most likely made of premium material, but for getting on the flights and hustling around in my backpack, I would've liked a sturdier option. Especially when headphones that cost $100's less come with carrying cases. But rather than let that stop me, I just ended up figuring out a hard-shell storage option on my own because I really love these headphones.

Powerful Portable Projector

I've always wanted a projector for a media room, but most of them are so large and require installations that you have to really commit to one. What I like the most about the Epson 100W model is that it's also portable. You can pack it up and take it with you on trips, which is what we've done with ours.
The unit is small, feels solidly put together and has a footprint that's a little bigger than a 2012 Mac mini desktop, albeit much taller. Setting it ups was a breeze. In less than 5 minutes I had it open, fired up and was signing into my Google Play account to try out one of my movies. I ended up setting it up in our garage for a test run. My kids and I watched Avengers: Endgame and it played beautifully. We projected it out onto our garage door.
The laser light system in it makes it to where you can still see the images well in normal lightning conditions. Obviously, with any projector, once we turned off the lights in the garage, the kids felt like they were at the movies. There's so much more detail you can see in a lower light setting with a projector, but this one is also viewable in normal lightning which really surprised me. If you're curious about resolution, this projector maxes out at 1080p HD at 60Hz per the support documentation. I honestly didn't care when we streamed the movie because it was playing perfectly and I also felt like I was back in the theater. Even my wife, who is not a gadget person, came out and watched it with us and was surprised by the quality of the images.
The back cover that houses the input ports and home for the Android TV module pops right off with little effort, but also plugs back in and feels secure. There's also an IR port in the back to control the remote with IR - but the initial setup paired the remote, so I assume it's working over Bluetooth since I never pointed the remote at the IR sensor.
Another aspect of it that I really like is that the Android TV module that came with it could be detached and other HDMI sources could use it. I tested it out with another streaming device I had and it worked like a charm. The projector also has built in speakers that work well enough in our garage, but there's also the option of connecting a Bluetooth speaker to it or running an Aux out line to wired speaker if you have one. I used the Audio Out when we took it on a trip over the holidays and connected it to a speaker and it worked as expected. I haven't tried the Bluetooth option yet, but it's nice to know it's there if I needed it.
The unit comes with 2 remotes as well. One controls the projector and I'm guessing the other one controls the Android TV module in case you wanted to use it with another TV. Since we have our movies in the cloud with MoviesAnywhere, I really didn't see a need to take out the Android TV module, it worked great! I was also able to sign into other streaming services like Hulu and watch streaming content from there as well. If you want to attach a streaming device, you'll also need an HDMI cord since the input in the back of the device is a female port - see my pictures and you'll know what I'm talking about.
If you're curious about dipping your toe into the projector world, you should seriously look at the Epson EF-100W. It's a portable powerhouse that produces great images and decent sound, but the ability to plug in other streaming devices and speakers also means this could power someone's home theater without breaking the 4K bank.

Nice Upgrade from my old 3000 Series

I picked this up to replace my older 3000 series. It was getting a little bit older and when I looked at the cost of picking up new blades compared to what I'd get by picking up a new razor, it was a no-brainer.
The biggest draw to this newer version was the rapid charge feature. As a safety precaution, Philips disables the ability to use their razors while they charge. This isn't a problem if you remember to charge them every so often, but if you don't remember to charge them regularly, then it can be a pain.
The new S3212 will give you 60-minutes of shaving off of a single hour of charging, so more than enough to handle my morning shave. It is also safe to use in the shower like my older 3000 series, but with my facial hair, I usually have to shave it dry, otherwise, my beard and mustache hair will stick to my face.
They've also added a newer feature called 5D Pivot & Flex Heads - I've noticed the head is a bit different shape compared to my older 3000 series and so far, it does seem like it's just as comfortable, if not more responsive than my older one.
If you're someone who can use an electric razor and are in the market for a new one, this one is a good deal at less than $100.

Our new In-Home Barista

My wife has had her eye on a Jura coffee machine for a while now, and after picking up a fancy drop coffee machine, Nespresso machine and pod-coffee system, we decided to bite the bullet and simplify down to this monster to replace our espresso and pod-coffee system.
When we first opened the box, it was pretty intimidating. The Jura E6 is much larger than other coffee machines or systems we've had in the past. The instructions were fairly extensive and it was a little overwhelming at first. But once we got started, it was easy to get going and set up the filter and easy to use.
The E6 comes with a built-in grinder on the top of the unit so you can use freshly ground coffee grinds every brew. It's worth noting though, that putting coffee beans in is much easier than trying to get them out, so if you live in a setting where you drink regular and someone else drinks decaf, someone will have to wait until the beans you poured into the top run out.
Once you have everything set up, you can choose between regular coffee, espresso, cappuccino, or hot water for tea. One of the most attractive features in the E6 was, we didn't have to use coffee filters anymore. The machine brews single cups of coffee or double shots if you have smaller espresso cups and it doesn't require replacing a coffee filter after each use which is lovely. It's recommended that you remove the bottom drip tray after a few cups of coffee because the E6 will dump the used coffee grounds into a holding box that is attached to the drip tray.
The E6 also comes with a hard water test stripe to test out your water. We have harder water here, so we used the E6's water filter to help clean the water out. You can also use your own filtered water to fill the attached tank. Unlike the Jura unit at my work, the E6 doesn't have an option to attach to a water line, which is fine for us, but if you're in a fancier set up, it's something to be aware of.
The unit will also automatically clean when powering on and right before powering off - so don't freak out if you've brewed some coffee and then hear it run some water after a bit. We leave a coffee cup under the spouts so we don't have to remove the bottom drip tray every time.
There's also an optional Bluetooth accessory you can pick up for an extra cost, they're not sold at Best Buy, which will enable you to operate your E6 from a mobile app. The unit has to be on for it to work, but you can build custom recipes in the app and queue them up.
At a $1400 price, this is certainly an investment. However, if you factor out cost-per-use, cost of filters, cost of going to a coffee shop for a fancy cup of coffee, the E6 will have a lower total cost of ownership over the long term. This was definitely an indulgent play on our part, but this thing brews one helluva cup of coffee! If you're a coffee lover and you want to have something that is easy to use, own and makes a great cup, then put this on your Christmas list!

Great Device but Inconsistent App

I hate waking up to my alarm on my iPhone. I have to use the loud, angry ones to get me up and moving, which I attribute to having 2 kids and suffering from a lack of proper sleep over the past decade.
I've used the Philips band to help try and reduce my snoring, so when I saw they created a light that would simulate waking up to a natural sunrise, I was all over it.
Let me just say - I love the light. It's got everything you need. My main gripe is with the app that you have to download to configure it. I hate installing one-off apps on my phone that don't serve more than a single device.
The app first off requested a whole host of permissions around personal data and while I appreciate it being upfront, some of it seemed a little creepy. When I declined some of the permissions, I noticed that many of the connected features on the light wouldn't work.
You need to use the app to create an alarm scheme, which thankfully you can do without signing over access to all of your data. I used the natural sunrise setting and made sure it would wake me up at 5 am. The light starts warming up around 4:30 - 4:45 am and I love that I wake up right around 5 am not feeling bleary-eyed.
You can also use the touch screen controls on the light to control it and use it like a regular light. I also experienced issues with the app even connecting to the light, even though they were both on the same WiFi network. The lamp said it was connected and so did my phone, but it would regularly say it couldn't find my lamp.
Once the app manages to connect, you can also control the FM radio option and also listen to live broadcast radio if you want. The app can also track your sleeping pattern if you open up the option and let the device track your data. If you're concered about privacy, you can still use the base functionality of alarm, lighting control and radio with the app.
If you need a light to help wake yourself up, then this might be what you're looking for.

I snore, especially in Texas where we have allergies all year round. When I saw this sleep aid band, I was interested in trying it, especially since my wife snores too, I thought we could both try it out.
First off - there's no app you need to download to control this. That being said, there's no integration with Apple Health or anything like that. The band itself is what controls, stores, and shows your results.
The premise is interesting. The device will vibrate as a way to nudge you off your back and on to your side during the night. This can be problematic if you're a back sleeper primarily, like I am. I'm more comfortable on my back than on my side. The device knows if you're on your back or side, so I assume there's some kind of gyro-mechanism that indicates that.
If you don't respond, the vibrations will increase in intensity until you move. Several times wearing this, the vibrations actually woke me up, so I guess I really didn't want to move. Over time, it became more natural, but at first, it was an odd sensation.
My wife tried it too with better results than me. But she's also a side-sleeper, so I think she's more of the target audience for this. I did notice that I felt a bit better after sleeping several nights wearing the band, so I guess I was getting better quality of sleep. At least I noticed that my throat wasn't bone dry and raspy in the morning, so that's a plus.

Lots of Promise, but Not Quite Right

My wife and I saw this and wanted to try and it out. The promise of being able to mix faster by using the heating element to make the butter softer, and fluffier was really cool. Sadly, it seems like there's not a lot of there, there.
First and foremost, the mixer is loud, especially with the heating option turned on. It’s heavier than our current Kitchen Aid hand mixer so it was a little awkward at times to control. She said it felt very wobbly, like the center of balance was off.
The speed button was in an awkward place, so getting to speed 1 wasn’t really doable. It kept flipping it to 2-3 and trying to adjust down back to 1.
Softening butter was ok. If you don’t have time to leave it out it works in a pinch. We followed the instructions, but they didn't really work with the recipe we were making and the butter actually clumped up inside the beaters. We had to let it sit and get much hotter to get things going. I wasn’t overly impressed but my cookies turned out fine.
It’s an ok hand mixer. It gets the job done.

Solid Kettle Bell with some Drawbacks

My wife and I have a collection of kettle bells that we use at home during our exercise routines. Although they're basic kettle bells, we started to run into the issue of space. That was one of the reasons I was interested in trying out the JaxJox Kettle Bell Connect. The promise of being able to replace all our existing individual kettle bells was promising since space at home was becoming a premium.
First thing out of the box is a warning - make sure that you let the Kettle Bell is done adjusting weight before trying to pull it off the base. What is cool about the Kettle Bell Connect is that by using a series of plate weights, you're able to set a customized weight for your workout.
Fair warning here - kettle bell workouts can hurt you if you're not familiar with them, so I'd recommend being cool with kettle bell workouts before investing in a home solution.
Once I got the weights, unit and base out of the box, I set to charge it up. While it charged, I downloaded the JaxJox iOS app and synced my kettle bell. One of the cool features here is the integration with Apple Heath. I use my Apple Watch to track and measure my exercises, so I'm glad that I can use the kettle bell, do some workouts, and I get the credit for it in the JaxJox app as well as the Apple Activity / Health apps.
But you're probably wondering why I rated this as a 3 star item if it sounds like I really like it - well, here are my concerns:
- The price, at $300, this thing isn't cheap. If space is your concern, then it might be worth it to you, but if space isn't a concern, then I'd say stick with traditional, analog kettle bells.
- The App itself is a bit clunky. Several times, it just spun at "syncing data" when I tried to open it. I ended up just abandoning it, starting my workout in the Apple Watch and going from there. I get the credit in my Apple Activity rings, so that's cool.
- Some of the videos were very basic - if you're new to kettle bell workouts, they might work for you, but again, I'm not sure who'd be jumping into a high-end $300 option for their first go-around.
- Because this is a kettle bell, you need to be cognizant of where you're exercising. My house is mostly tile, so I'm relegated to the rooms that have carpet - I can't imagine dropping or putting this thing down roughly and cracking or breaking tile.
- The unit itself is a bit bulky, owning to the fact that the weights sit up inside the unit as you exercise. This can be a bit overkill in size if you're only doing a workout with, say, a 2 pound weight.
If you're a home fitness junkie and love kettle bells and you have some extra cash and you have a space constraint, then I'd say go for it. If not, then you might be better off with something less fancy to get you started. I would recommend this to anyone who liked to use kettle bells for at home workouts.

I tend to sit a lot at work, even though I have a standing desk and I noticed that my shoulders were hunching over and I was slouching more.
I saw this and thought it would be a fun way to improve my posture. I've used it for about 10 days now and here's what I like and what I don't:
Pros:
* Small, lightweight and comes with adhesives (haven't had to change mine yet)
* App is easy to use
* Travel case and USB charging cable are nice to have
* Tracking mode lets you see how your posture has been during the day
* Training mode will cause the unit to vibrate if you slouch for 4 continuous seconds, more time is added so you gradually go for longer periods of time.
* Small, lightweight and comes with adhesives (haven't had to change mine yet)
* App is easy to use

* Tracking mode lets you see how your posture has been during the day
* Training mode will cause the unit to vibrate if you slouch for 4 continuous seconds, more time is added so you gradually go for longer periods of time.

In the past, I've used cases for my iPhones that focused on a adding a minimal amount of bulk to the phone. Sometimes the cases work, but minimalist cases tend to need to be replaced after an accidental drop, even from minor heights, like my desk.
A buddy of mine had a Speck case and he loved it. It hit all the right notes for him: 1) Offered a good amount of protection, 2) Didn't clash with the aesthetic look of the phone, and 3) Didn't cost an arm and a leg.
So when I saw the Speck Presidio Pro case, I thought I'd give it a shot. So far, this case has been nearly perfect for my iPhones XS.
It does add a fair amount of bulk to the phone, more than I was initially used to, but I got used to the new weight / heft pretty quickly. What I like about this case is that it's clean - smooth back, nothing fancy or crazy wild design. It's a clean, professional looking case. The case itself at first feel like it's a softer case, but then when I went to put my phone into it, I realized how rigid and tough the case was.
My only real gripe, and it's a total first world problem, is the amount of dust the case retains around the edges of the screen. Because the lip of the case sticks up higher than I'm used to, it's easier for dust and dirt to get around the edges of the screen and it's not really that easy to clean, unless you use some kind of electronic wet wipe. Other than that, this case has been perfect. The case isn't too thick to stop wireless charging and the port cutouts are a good size, so even third party lightning cables that usually have a bulkier head than Apple's work just fine.

Can you use the air purifier with the windows both open and closed?
I’ve had mine running and have opened the windows in my home office a few times during the day - I think it’ll depend more on the air quality outside. I wouldn’t try to have my windows open during an Ozone Action day here in Texas to see how this thing fairs - but during temperate days, it’s been fine.

"We would like to let you know that this Robot also works to vacuum carpets." This is the response that I got when I asked "Does it work on carpet?" Sounds to me that it doesn't work on carpet but they want you to buy it anyway.
The beater bar on this doesn't look like it's meant to get into the fibers of the carpet. I don't have it vacuum mine, I have it only for the hard floors.

I'm trying to confirm if this connects directly to WiFi and no Arlo hub or base station is needed to use the camera??
I paired mine with my existing Arlo hub - but it does appear to indicate you can use it without one.

Does this camera record?
Yes - it's basically the same as the regular Arlo cameras with the added benefit of floodlights.

No - it won't split a signal to 2 USB-C devices. One USB-C port is for charging only and the other is for audio output. The device has picture indicators on it identifying which port is for charging (lightning bolt) and for audio (headphones).
