A Style Upgrade To The King Of ANC Headphones!
on May 26, 2026
Posted by: Wraith
I have loved the XM1000 series of headphones since the XM2s, and Sony's latest iteration, the XM6 is the absolute king of ANC headphones. They have the best ANC, comfort, usability, and most importantly - sound. The ONLY place where some other headphones might take the lead (and even here, it is up for debate), would be in the style/build of the headphones. I personally love, the understated design in a beautiful blue, that folds up nicely into a perfect case. Others though might like a little more metal and perhaps some (fake) leather. Well, for the 10th anniversary of Sony's XM line, those people have gotten their wish! The WH-1000XX - The Collexion.
Let's start out with just saying that for all intents and purposes, this is an XM6 inside of a sexier package. But that package also costs $200 more. Do I think that package is worth an extra $200? For me, the answer would be no, because I already consider the XM6 to be the pinnacle, and for me this is just adding weight and taking away some ANC/Battery Life benefits for style 'improvements' that I don't think the line needs. That being said, I do feel that Sony gave a good amount of VALUE with that extra $200, in that they did make some very solid style upgrades that justify that bump in price.
If the thing that kept you from buying the XM1000 series was the style, then run, don't walk to pick yourself up a pair of these, you will not be disappointed. If you have a pair of XM6s (or even XM4s), and are happy, then the 1000X will not bring anything to the table for you.
Here are just some quick points that I've taken away from a week with these headphones.
Comfort: Some nice extra padding. Normally, I'd be ecstatic about this due to the lack of cushioning hair on my head and the unfortunate point that it comes to, but in this case, it is offset by additional weight and a lower clamping force so that I can't count on the ear cups to mostly support the headphone on my head and spare the top of my noggin. The XM6s are the headphones I can listen to for the longest time out of ANY headphone I've tried with the exception of some VERY expensive audiophile cans, that put a premium on lightweight materials and innovative support structures. For me, the 1000X is a step back.
Style: Like I said before, my beautiful blue XM6s are great just as they are, but if you are determined to have pleather and metal set to a new Sony style, then you will probably love the 1000X. Personally, I feel like this makes them a bit TOO stylish for my usual use which is wearing these while traveling or when I'm working on my computer in noisy locations. These feel like they should reside on a nice stand next to a stylish chair in someone's den. If that is what you want these for, then please, go ahead and get these. For me, I like the fact that I'm not worried about dinging the headphones or getting the leather scratched or dirty.
Portability: I'm following up style with this because it is directly because of the style points, that I feel that the 1000X has taken a step back. With that nice new, and very solid, headband, you lose the foldability of the XM6 which Sony brought back after the complaints of the XM5s NOT being able to fold up. And while I'm impressed that the case for these 1000Xs is a sleek as it is (and has the hand hold cut out), it doesn't pack into my flight bag as nicely as my XM6s.
ANC: While many people may not notice much of a difference between the ANC capabilities of the XM6s vs. the 1000X, I can assure you, I most certainly do. While I haven't had a chance to fly with them in this last week, I did take them to one of my usually working spots and I noticed a bit more noise seeping in than I'm used to. I don't think it is the internal hardware or the software because that should be the same, so I have to assume that it is the lack of clamping pressure and the change in the padding. Perhaps the metal of the band or the change in the ear cups also transmits more noise or subsonic vibration to my head, but I don't like it.
Sound: Here the 1000X sounds just as good as the XM6s. I find the tuning to be a bit different with the peaks pushed a bit further from the middle, but completely within the range of most modern headphones. The software that Sony boasts about with this series such as the 360UpMix is completely out of my purview. As a reformed audiophile, I'm already 'out there' by using ANC headphones in the first place, but using software to 'upscale' the sound? Nope, that is a bridge too far for me. With those software gimmicks, I feel you put too much computer between yourself and the music. You shouldn't ever need anything more than a solid set of EQ sliders, but that's just me.
Conclusion: If you are looking for the best ANC headphones currently on the market (and yes, I'll die on that hill), and you want a beautifully styled package for all that sonic goodness to be wrapped in, then the Sony 1000X will be perfect for you. For me though, I'd save a few bucks and just get the XM6s.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

SO Much To Love, But Unfortunately Not For Me.
on May 19, 2026
Posted by: Wraith
I LOVE Turtle Beach, they have had some of my favorite headphones over my entire gaming lifetime (which is extensive). These would be my absolute favorite headphone of theirs except I can't wear them for any length of time over 30 minutes. I've never had a headphone with the mesh 'hammock' for a headband but I've quickly learned that it is probably the worst for my head. That being said, that is mostly on me since my advanced age has removed the hair padding from the top of my head, and genetics has given me a bit of a point to my head. ALL headband headphones have been painful for me after relatively short time, but the Stealth Pro II is probably the shortest time of all. This is a shame, because they are by far the sexiest gaming headphones I've ever had, and both the sound and earpad comfort are the absolute BEST out of any headphone I've had. My only other complaint other than the headband is the smell of the foam in the storage case. The off-gassing from that has been horrible! I have had it in my garage for a week now and it STILL smells and now my garage also smells bad!
Like I said above though, there is SO MUCH to love about this headset. If you have a generous quantity of hair on your head (or perhaps not as sensitive as mine), these are easily the BEST gaming headphones you can get right now. I'll highlight a few of the things that I'm really gonna miss after a week of gaming with these:
1. Style AND Substance: This thing oozes style and feels like a premium headphone. It is solid, with no creaks, squeaks, or rough edges. Simply the most premium gamin headphone I've ever owned and it's up there with some of the audiophile ones I used to own.
2. Those EarPods: Like clouds. If they could put that thickness of this foam on the headband for me, I'd be in heaven. AND they stay cool! Just awesome.
3. Sound Quality/Settings: If you can't get them best sound you've ever heard from a game out of these, you did something wrong. Out of the box and with no tweaking whatsoever, they sound phenomenal. When you open up the Swarm II app (which you MUST do), you will be able to tweak everything down to the smallest detail and get exactly the sound you need. No wimpy 4 or 6 band EQ here, you get a 10 BAND equalizer and a ton of custom save slots to create all kinds of profiles.
4. Swarm II App: Hands-down the best app for a headphone I have used, even compared to those audiophile ones. You almost kinda need the app because one of my only other quibbles with the Stealth Pro IIs are the ridiculous amount of buttons and wheels on the ear cups. Perhaps I'd get better muscle memory if I wore them longer but I was screwing things up more than I wanted by using the physical buttons. It was just so much easier to change settings with the App.
5. Battery Life: I only just now swapped out the installed battery with the backup one you get (and stays charged in the connector dock), and I was playing HARD and LOUD for the week. Easy to swap out and keep going with your game. I also can't believe how small that battery is! I'm old but MAN is battery engineering getting really, really good!
6. Connections: So easy to connect to anything you want, even all at once! I had the Stealth Pro IIs connected via Bluetooth to my phone, and I used the connection puck/battery charger with my Xbox Series X. Super easy to do connect to both, and you get another USB stick to connect to another console or device to make these your all-in-one headphones. Ok, I guess I have one more quibble. I wish there were a way to turn off the indicator light around the connector puck, because when I don't want to use headphones, it is constantly flashing looking for the headphones to be on. Not a big deal if you have it out of the way, but mine sits right on my desk and it is annoying.
Conclusion: While these are not cheap headphones, the are an outstanding VALUE. You get premium everything with these, the ability to use with virtually any (and multiple) device(s), and the ability to have multiple tailored sounds, make the Stealth Pro IIs a virtual sound system for everything and not just one of many headsets/bars/speakers you might have. Simply amazing, but unfortunately my noggin just can't seem to handle headband headphones any longer. Though I'm gonna spend quite some time to see if I can find a way to make these work. It would be worth whatever time and money it requires.

A Stellar Laptop For School Or Work!
on April 28, 2026
Posted by: Wraith
TLDR: If you are looking for a sleek, relatively light, laptop with a beautiful screen, very nice keyboard. and great performance, you will be very happy with the Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro (from here on out I'm just gonna call it the Book6).
Let me start off by saying this is not going to be a review with me just regurgitating the specs for this laptop. Best Buy does a great job making those easily accessible on the main page for the Book6. What it is, is a review by a guy who has been using laptops for decades and is well versed in using technology in the classroom (I was a HS teacher).
I got the Book6 because while I had planned on buying my nephew a new laptop for his Junior High graduation, his current computer (a Chromebook) gave up the ghost before the school year ended. My nephew is on the spectrum and actually does not like technology much, so being minimalist and straightforward is a serious plus.
I would have purchased him a MacBook Air, but his High School recommends Windows PCs for the greatest 'interoperability'. Fortunately, the Samsung Book6 is probably the closest Windows laptop to the last generation MacBook Air (style-wise). I mean that as a sincere compliment, because the previous generation of Airs are timeless and well done. A lot of Apple fans were actually upset when the Air moved away from the 'wedge' and went to basically a slim Pro profile. The wedge actually did make typing nicer and the Book6 brings that benefit to a Windows PC.
Where the Book6 also excels and is like an Air is in typing and its trackpad. The keyboard, while not as great as my all-time favorite, the ThinkPad, is outstanding. Also, the trackpad is absolutely HUGE! It is also nicely responsive and has very good haptic feedback. I also appreciate the fact that Samsung went with a numpad-less keyboard centered over the trackpad. That is a must-have for me, and I believe it will help my nephew become even more comfortable with typing (making small typing mistakes really makes him anxious).
The 3K OLED screen is absolutely gorgeous, and while I abhor using a touchscreen (especially one that has a glossy surface like the Book6), I know my nephew likes it. Despite being a glossy screen, it actually does a fairly good job at minimizing the visual impact of fingerprints. The screen can be set pretty bright which is great, but since my nephew tends to like to do his school work in near darkness (cuts down on overstimulation), he'll be able to crank that down and get more battery life out of it.
Speaking of battery life, while the Book6 claims 30 hours, I don't think it will get quite that good of life, but while doing my set up for him, the laptop did sip power despite doing all the updates and configuration work. I also really like that when the computer is off and you plug it in, rather than just a small indicator light, you get a quick 10-second or so screen icon showing its current battery life and it pops back on when it is at 100%. It's very smartphone-like and I thought it was pretty cool.
If you or whomever you are buying the Samsung Book6 for, are Galaxy/Android phone users, you will get some extra integration between your phone and the Book6. It's much like the integration between iPhones and Macs, though I was unable to test out all the features because I have an Apple device.
I also, appreciate that Samsung did not hugely overburden the Book6 with a lot of garbage software. I had a pretty easy time updating the laptop and cleaning up what little bloat there is on there. I got the settings and his software (or its Windows analog), set up just how he likes it and its going to be easy for him to get the hang of this very quickly.
Finally, I appreciate how sturdy and well-made the laptop feels. It feels premium and has very little flex anywhere, which will be important to this laptop staying functional in the chaotic world of High School.
My only grumble with the Book6 at all is related to its charging brick which is a nicely compact 65w USB-C charger, but the plugs don't flip up. I absolutely HATE charging bricks with fixed prongs! Fortunately, I love the fact that we a finally in the era of standardized power cords and bricks, so even if this one gets busted it will be easy to replace.
While the Samsung Book6 Pro is not cheap by any measure, it is an outstanding school or work machine, and its VALUE matches its price. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a stylish, well-built, powerful, and eminently functional Windows laptop.

Sleek, Light, and Bright! Perfect for Home & Away!
on April 15, 2026
Posted by: Wraith
After having consolidated my retinue of computers down to a single laptop, I began to get the itch to still maintain my dual screen set-up. While I could plug my laptop in to my remaining monitor (which is now used solely for my Xbox), I really like having my secondary screen be in portrait mode for web browsing and other heavy scrolling programs. My wife has a really nice portable screen for her work laptop but it is heavy and has a ton of cords. The Asus ZenScreen is absolutely perfect because it is thin, stylish, bright, and beautiful. On top of that I usually only need the single USB-C cord for both power and data. Really makes my desk set-up clean. Also, I think that this thing's portability and ease of use is also going to make it a nice travel companion for my Switch 2!
Another thing I like is having the integrated kick stand. It makes it much easier to set up at the proper angle/orientation than my wife's which can really only do landscape and requires its case to be folded and really only gives one angle. The included carry case is nicely padded and has a nice pocket on the outside to carry the included cords. My wife has to have a whole separate tech case to hold all the cables she needs for hers! Wow, I better hope my wife doesn't read this review or I think my Asus ZenScreen 16" might disappear on me and I might be left with the 'meh' one she has!
If you are looking for a compact, light, portable second screen or primary screen for another device, you really can't go wrong with the Asus ZenScreen. For the price it's really a no-brainer.

Despite a few quibbles, now my favorite controller
on April 2, 2026
Posted by: Wraith
TLDR: Despite a few, mostly cosmetic/minor quibbles, the Nacon Revolution X Unlimited controller is now probably my favorite controller that I've used.
What I Like:
Snappy Controls: The feel of all the buttons, triggers, and sticks all have the feeling of actual, well, actuation. The clicky buttons and triggers (if you so select), and the weight behind the stick push, make your inputs seem weighty and precise.
Feel In The Hand: At first I was a little put off by the extra girth on the RevX, but now it feels perfect to me and my other controllers feel too small. I have medium (normal) sized hands and it just feels good there. It also has additional weights to give even more heft to the controller, though I found it to be perfect right out of the box.
Customization: SO. MANY. OPTIONS. Seriously, between the physical buttons, replacement sticks/pad, the built in screen, and the expansive number of options and profiles available through the software, it would be a shorter list to label what CAN'T be changed! That list is pretty much just its color and the placement of the face buttons! Be sure to wire her up and dig through the app (either on Xbox or PC) and make sure there isn't a toggle or option for what you are looking for, because I bet it's probably there.
Battery Life: Even without being able to keep her topped up by charging via the dock, I get several days of play out of a single charge.
Don't Like:
Wonky LED Ring Light: The only thing that is driving me a little nuts about this is what I'm assuming is just a small glitch that will be fixed via a firmware/software update, and that is that despite turning off the ring light around the right thumbstick in my profile, it sometimes comes back on and I can't figure out why or what to change to stop that.
Click On Parts: I was a little surprised that the replacement sticks and pad all click on and hold via plastic tabs and not magnets. I'm halfway afraid of changing out stuff for fear of snapping those plastic tabs, but I would gladly pay a bit extra for a version with magnetic connection.
Conclusion: I'm super happy with the Nacon Revolution X Unlimited controller. It is now my favorite controller (and I've owned a TON of very expensive controllers) and it has been a pleasure to use for the last month or so.

Really rather useful! Great for kids and adults!
on February 6, 2026
Posted by: Wraith
When I ordered the LG StandbyMe 2, I had one very specific use in mind and that was to be used as a monitor/TV for my exercise room. I have both a rowing machine and a strength training area, but needed something so that I could do my Apple Fitness+ classes and also have something to entertain me when not doing a specific class. But while I was waiting for it to be delivered I started thinking about all the other ways that it will be useful. I've already had it in my office and pulled up to my easy chair so I can surf the web and watch shows on a bigger screen than my tablet. When family visits, I can roll this into the guest room for them to use since we didn't bother hanging a TV (and maybe that will get them out of our hair earlier in the evening!). Also, when friends are over, many don't bring their children since we never had any and there isn't much for them to do, but now they could play games on the touch screen or we can set up a movie in the sunroom. Really, I keep thinking of ways that this could be useful and they just keep coming!
If I had children, this would be a no-brainer. The utility for kids is through the roof. With kids channels available, games, and outside input, this gives you a whole home entertainment system that can be moved to wherever the kids will be the least disturbed or disturbing. If you are a homeschooler, this would be a great tool to run lessons on or use for video lessons, when the camera module becomes available.
My only gripes with it are/were that it was a bit of a pain to set up, not put together, that was easy, but getting it up and running software wise. Also, I wish it were a tad more customizable for the screen options. Finally, I wish that LG had their accessories for this available and that they would come out with a few others that may be useful. I'll go over each of these issues below:
1. Set Up: Putting the StandbyMe2 together was simple, though the whole set-up is surprising heavy due to the weighted base. My main issue was trying to get it to respond upon charging and turning it on. Turns out that the remote had a plastic divider to keep the battery off but mine did not have a tab sticking out that would indicate that. I had removed the battery cover looking for just that, but could not see anything. I had to remove the battery cover and pull the cell out to get the divider out. It had somehow gotten its pull-tab folded up under the battery. Once I had the controller available, I was able to finish the set-up but you NEED the controller since the touch screen is disabled on initial start up. I also had issues getting the StandbyMe 2 to connect to the LG App, and actually it still hasn't worked through the app/QR code function. I had to log in manually with my account and password using the remote. The app refuses to 'see' the StandbyMe on the network even though everything is set up as it should be.
2. Customization: After being spoiled by iPads and other devices that let you customize your experience to your hearts content, the StandbyMe 2 is a couple steps backwards. While you can move things around and delete a few preinstalled items, you are definitely stuck with more of a TV interface than a tablet/computer one.
3. Accessories: LG shows off the StandbyMe 2 with a wall hanger/shoulder strap, a web camera. and a picture frame like stand but I have been unable to find any of them from reputable sources or even LG themselves. I can get the Bluetooth speaker but that's it. I don't need the strap or even the camera actually, but I think the utility is diminished without all of its accessories available. I would also like LG to consider a small shelf that can be attached to the vertical stand bar. It would be perfect for a kid to put the dock for their Nintendo Switch or for another device.
I'm not going to gripe just yet about the actual software package because I have yet to fully dig into all that the store has to offer. I've been impressed by the amount of titles available, though some of the rather recent games that are available might not run very well, unless of course you are using a streaming service, then as long as you have a good signal, you have a new platform for playing! I'll have to see which controller works best with the StandbyMe, because I was unable to find any recommendation in the included materials.
All-in-all I'm pleasantly surprised by the LG StanbyMe 2. I think it will get lots of use in my home, and while not cheap, it is certainly cheaper and easier to use than setting up a bunch of extra TVs in my home!

Can Be A Helpful Tool In The Right Hands
on January 31, 2026
Posted by: Wraith
In all my years of reviewing teach here on Best Buy, this was the first item my wife requested that I get and try out because she was professionally interested in it; she's a medical doctor. She stated that while it wasn't anything that she would ever use in the clinic but wanted to see if this could be a good tool for her to recommend for her patients in addition to being a useful tool for us at home.
Let me first say that Withings definitely makes things easy to set up from the get-go. Charging was simple and fast (it was already at about 75% out of the box), and I had it connected to the app within seconds. Once connected though, it DID begin to feel like Withings was asking for A LOT of access to data. Granted, with their selection of health tools in addition to the BeamO (their health monitor watch and weight scale), this can be understandable, but as a lone product I almost felt like it was getting intrusive. I then had to take a step back and ask, 'Am I the target demographic for this device?' The answer to that is probably no.
I am in generally very good health with no chronic conditions other than a little arthritis. The BeamO is not intended as just a fancy thermometer or something like that. It's tools, especially combined with their other offerings or paired with one of the many health devices it can interface with, are more intended for use by someone who either wants a lot of health data to help make changes, or who needs to track a particular health problem. It could also be useful for someone who is worried about a loved one and would like a tool that they can have that person use so that they can monitor their health remotely.
The three tools that the BeamO gives you to help monitor your health are a thermometer, a single lead ECG, and a digital stethoscope. Since I have a live in doctor, so I'll add a bit of her commentary on each.
Thermometer: The easiest to use and very accurate. A quick wave over the forehead by either yourself or another person, gives consistently good data. It does its job unobtrusively and can be done without disturbing the measured individual if needed. While good, it's NOT a reason in and of itself to get the BeamO.
ECG: Again, Withings makes it incredibly easy to take a good single-lead ECG with little training or monitoring needed. I keep stressing that this is a single-lead and that is important in that it can tell if something major is happening with your heart, but that is about it. It will let you know that you need further intervention by a physician and a complete ECG (which normally uses 12 leads).
The first time you use this, Withings sends the data off to a contracted physician to check it out prior to showing you the data. This may sound weird and/or intrusive, but it is smart medicine for Withings. First, you need to be sure you have a good ECG, but that there isn't anything already of concern with that baseline measurement. Withings doesn't want people to base serious medical decisions off of data which should be properly address from the start by a physician. Mine came back as approved after about 36 hours and my wife said it was a very good ECG. Again, it would be more of use of tracking or alerting you to a new problem and not diagnostic like a twelve-lead would be.
Stethoscope: This was the most problematic of all the tools. The stethoscope is such a simple, yet elegant device that it takes a VERY high-end piece of electronic equipment to give equivalent results to the analog device. The BeamO is NOT that piece of equipment. Both she and I did repeated recordings of both lung and heart function, both self-administered and done by the other person, and it was VERY HARD to get useable recordings if you were to send these to a physician (and really, if you are not medically trained, this data will be useless to you). We were only able to get a decent recording of the heart in the Tricuspid and Mitral areas, and even that required a delicate and steady hand. The Aortic and Pulmonary areas consistently were marred by noise from both the device and from the lungs. As for the lung recordings, we were NEVER able to get a useable recording using the areas of the front of the body that a lone person would be able to test. While the recordings taken by another person using the back areas were slightly clearer, they were nothing that my wife as a physician would base ANY decision off of or even consider them to be a good reading. For a lone individual who isn't even handing this data off to an expert, the stethoscope is an appendix to this device, in that it is relatively useless.
All-in-all the Withings BeamO is an impressive device with some very good and easy to use diagnostic tests available. If you are also in the Withings 'eco-system' and have their other devices, this will help round out your data set and complete your health picture. Unfortunately, I do not have those other devices, and as a stand-alone device, I can't really recommend the BeamO to most people.
For me, the best-case use is going to be taking this home when I see my mother so that she can easily take readings of her ECG and send them to my wife and I so we can keep an eye on her a bit. The BeamO is so easy to use that it will be simple to explain there (and re-explain over the phone) how to use the device. The App also does a very good job of making it easy to record/share data. I'm giving the BeamO four stars because it IS an impressive piece of equipment that could be very useful in the right hands/scenario, but it is not for everyone.

Not what I thought it was, but still cool (warm)!
on December 22, 2025
Posted by: Wraith
For some reason, when I first saw the Shark TurboBlade, I assumed (you know what happens when you assume) that it used a 'fan-less' design and that the blades pulled air from directly behind them. I also thought that the 'air-blanket' effect was for both the cooling and the heating features. On both of those presumptions, I was wrong, but that doesn't change the fact that the Shark TurboBlade is a great fan system.
I had imagined the perfect use for it would be in the bedroom to either pull air from our open windows in the summer (which would require the air intake to be high up), or that it could put out a warm blanket of air across the bed in the winter. Well, we had a bit of a late fall heatwave followed by some chilly temps afterwards so I got to try both options out and it still worked great for me.
During the 'heatwave', I was instead able to use it in my wife's office which in the front of the house and has a door to a balcony. This made it perfect for drawing in a bunch of air from the intake in the base and then jetting a wall of cool air down the hallway towards our bedroom. The first night I did that, if was able to drop the temp in our bedroom by several degrees within an hour without having to turn on the A/C again.
During the subsequent cool down to normal temps I moved the TurboBlade into our room and set it up near the foot of the bed. Like I had said, I had kind of hoped that the fan arms would put out an 'air blanket' of warmth over the bed, but the fan wasn't quite tall enough to do that anyway (we have a really tall bed), but then I realized that would probably waste a lot of the heat anyway. The central port where the heat actually comes out of was perfect though for getting things nice and cozy before bed.
I also appreciate the remote control for this fan which makes it very easy to operate from the comfy confines of my bed and not have to get up to change anything. The fan is also nicely quiet, especially in the sleep mode, so if you want to keep it on, that's not a problem. I really only have one wish for the Shark TurboBlade, and that would be for them to put out an additional base extender or make it so that the main fan blade could come up a bit higher. That will mostly be for next summer when I think a cool blanket of air would be really nice, but I need it to be about six inches taller than it is right now for that to work. I'm probably going to look for some sort of solid base that would be stable enough to put this on, but if Shark came out with an add on or an extended base, I'd buy it in a second!
The wife and I are very happy with the Shark Turbo-Blade and look forward to many comfortable years with it.

Not worried about robot apocalypse after this!
on December 1, 2025
Posted by: Wraith
This is my third attempt at having a robot vacuum from three different makers over the last 5 years or so and it is my third, and FINAL, robot. I am no longer worried about a Terminator type robot apocalypse because these robots have been absolutely stupid. The only way these things are going to kill anyone is from tripping them while at the top of the stairs or through an aneurysm from dealing with them.
I had really high hopes for this robot because the team at Shark/Ninja has yet to let me down, but there is a first time for everything. Now, I'm giving it two stars, because I think the robot/basestation is well built and the app works well. I would be inclined to give it a third star if it in any way had made me think it might work well for a different type of home. I have a 3000 sq/ft, two story home with mostly tile, engineered wood, and a few rugs. Of course this was only going to be able to work on one floor but it worked on neither. Downstairs is tile and some thicker rugs, perhaps an inch tall of dense fibers. Upstairs is the engineered wood, tile in the bathrooms, and thin, woven rugs.
Downstairs, with the initial set-up it was an all day extravaganza of fail. It took three times to get the machine to do an accurate mapping expedition, all the while bumping itself into everything and scuffing my floorboards (I mean seriously, you shouldn't do DAMAGE to a home you are supposed to clean). When it finally had an accurate map (with rug detection), I sent it off to vacuum. About 20 minutes later, the machine makes its way back to the base station and I go check to see how it did. I immediately notice a trail of fuzzy debris that leads all the way to a PILE of vacuum debris. It seems to have 'thrown up' everything that it had vacuumed up! Wow, super useful. Shouldn't it have gone back to empty itself at the base station before it over-stuffed itself? So I can't have this thing make MORE work for me (which I accomplished with my nice Shark stick vacuum), so I thought let's try it upstairs.
Upstairs was no better. Despite having thin woven carpets, tall furniture with clearance, and relatively wide open corridors and rooms it managed to get itself stuck not once, not twice, but all three times I sent it off to clean after mapping the upstairs (which thankfully only took one pass this time). For something I should be able to 'fire and forget', I can't seem to do that with this thing. A toddler in a house full of glass shards would get in less trouble than this robot.
So bottom line is: No, I do not like this robot; I don't like ANY of these robots, and I wouldn't recommend getting any of them. Unless you are a masochist, then carry on.

Outstanding vacuum for an apartment or small home.
on November 17, 2025
Posted by: Wraith
I must say that the team at Shark/Ninja are one of the few in the small appliance space that continue to impress me with great products, really good software, and innovation. The Shark Detect Clean & Empty (Shark DCE from here on out) is another notch in their belt. After about two weeks of use I can safely say that this is an OUTSTANDING choice for someone with an apartment or small home, or perhaps a larger home with less carpeting.
My home is about 3300 sq/ft and I consider that to be large. Not McMansion large, but not a starter home either. We also have tile and engineered 'hardwood' all throughout the house and a handful of thick rugs in certain areas for decoration. While the Shark DCE had the power reserve to clean the whole home, it DID NOT have the bin capacity. And while the empty process is quick and automatic, it does force you to 'go back to base'. That's why I would say anyone with less than 1800-2000 sq/ft would probably find this to be perfect as long as they have mostly solid flooring as well.
My favorite thing about the Shark DCE is the hinged vacuum column that allows me to properly get under my furniture and clean up all the dust bunnies that invariably build up back there. I could get under every single piece of furniture except for the recliners that have zero clearance. But all the couches, chairs, and beds were no match for the Shark DCE AND I didn't have to crawl on my hands a knees to make it work! Which, at my age, might result in me not getting back up again, any time soon!
The Shark DCE is admirably light and well powered to handle pretty much anything you throw at it. I can't speak as to 'normal' wall to wall carpet but I can speak to how the vacuum handles tight-knit and dense area rugs. While the variable power does help clean those areas, I did find that it almost feels like it is TOO strong or the suction becomes a hinderance to movement. It would almost feel like I was trying to push the vacuum over sand or something. That level of suction is great for getting a solid cleaning run but it could also make it a bit exhausting to fight if I had much more carpet in the house.
The base station is great in that it is not over-wrought and blends nicely even if it is out on display. It empties and charges the vacuum quickly and the storage bin, (which I have yet to fill despite several vacuum runs), is super easy to remove and empty. I REALLY appreciate Shark not making the base station require a separate bag for the bin that I would have to buy repeatedly and perhaps be unable to buy in the future. It gave up a consumables revenue stream for them but it is a real win for buyers.
My only disappointment with the Shark DCE is the included accessories package. The simple crevice tool and basic fabric head are just that, BASIC. I was accidentally sent a different version of this vacuum first and didn't notice until I had opened it, and while the tools were still pretty basic, there was a nicer crevice tool, a powered furniture head, and a nice dusting head. What it DIDN'T have and why I swapped it out, is the afore mentioned ability to get under furniture, which for me is the best part. To have THAT, PLUS the nice tool set would be the bee's knees.
I think that if you are looking for a very good vacuum for a sub-2000 sq/ft home or maybe office, that you can't go wrong with the Shark - Detect Clean & Empty.

No-Brainer If You Want A Great All-In-One System
By Wraith
I wondered about creating a GPS system nowadays with so many people having their smartphones with their own GPS functionality or with most cars coming with some kind of infotainment system, but after using the OverDryve 7 for the last two weeks, I think it is a great system and is a no-brainer for anyone looking to add GPS functionality to their car.
First off, my favorite thing about this device is the mounting bracket. I kid you not. One of the things I always hated about car GPS systems was having to lock it in place and reconnect the power and such. In the process of doing that I would invariably mess with my carefully set up positioning and would have to do it all over again. The Overdryve has an awesome bracket that you keep set up in your car and plugged in to everything and the Overdryve unit itself links via magnets and the connections are made through little contacts on the back. Easy-peasy. On top of that, the basestation also has an additional GPS antenna to improve location accuracy. Now I have rarely had problems with previous GPS devices and but the additional antenna could probably help when you are in the 'canyons' of the city, though I haven't gone downtown to try it yet.
The GPS system is great. While my car has one built in, it acts a bit too much like my mother and won't let me input anything if I am not at a complete stop. My wife can't even do it from the passenger seat because if we are moving at all it completely locks out the GPS controls. I understand why, but it would be nice for some kind of override. With the Overdryve, we don't have to worry about that. She just plucks the device from the mount, types in the destination and clicks it back into place. The guidance voice is kind of grating but so is my wife yelling directions at me from her phone!
I played around with the handsfree and entertainment applications and they are fine, but my car handles that pretty seamlessly, so I don't think I will be using that function of the Overdryve. The voice commands are much more responsive than those for my car system so I will give it that. The other thing I don't have to worry about is the backup camera or tire pressure monitor, because my car already has that, but if your car doesn't, this is a really cool feature. While each of those systems is an add-on, they are both only about $150 each and I guarantee I paid more for that functionality from the auto maker.
As for the Overdryve also being an Android tablet, and can be used off the mount like any other tablet, it is true that it can do so, but it is a little bulky for that and it is an Android tablet with all that entails. Sorry, I have an iPad and I can't really see myself ever using this as just a regular tablet, but perhaps if you forgot yours and you have a fussy kid in the back and want to send it to the back seat to quiet them down, this could be a lifesaver.
Now for my few quibbles with the device. I had a little trouble syncing it to my phone for the first few tries but after I did a phone restart I didn't have a problem and it had maintained the sync no problem, so it could have been my phone and not the Overdryve. My only other problem is the name. Seriously, Overdryve?! I realize that Overdrive was probably taken but I kind of feel like some hipster should be on TV telling me how 'swaggy' this thing is. Every time I have had to type Overdryve into this review, I have had to roll my eyes and they are getting tired.
In summary, if you want a great functioning GPS system, and that is all, this is a phenomenal GPS and it costs about the same as other 7-inch GPS systems. If you need the functionality of an infotainment system, and want the ability to add safety features like a back-up camera and tire pressure monitoring, this is a no-brainer because you get all of that for the price of a basic 7" GPS. On top of all that, you get a fully functional Android tablet! I really can't see why anyone would buy any other standalone car GPS system now that this is out. Even if you don't need the other functions, they are nice to have and Rand McNally has created the best GPS device I have ever used, for the same price as other systems. Seriously, this is the unit to get.

Dash Cam!
September 25, 2016
I totally forgot about the dash cam function of this. Yet another feature that makes this a no-brainer. I have not had much experience with dash cams but this one works well. Now let's just hope I don't end up on one of those dash cam compilation videos on YouTube!

Plus, it comes with two trial-size bottles of our PET Clean + Natural formula and two PET Multi-Surface Brush Rolls. And this machine doesn~t just clean up after pets, it helps save them! BISSELL proudly supports BISSELL Pet Foundation and its mission to help save homeless pets. When you buy a BISSELL product, you help save pets, too. We~re proud to design products that help make pet messes, odors and pet homelessness disappear.

Does this machine clean up both hard and soft puppy poops? We are elderly and have three Chihuahuas & a Chiweenie. Two dogs are elderly and have been pad trained because we do not have a fenced yard & area predator threats. The pups likely too.

I would not use this for either. This is for dirt, mud, dust, hair, litter, and small food bits. If it were a liquid mess (vomit/diarrhea) it might do OK, but nothing bigger or more substantial than that.

Does this come with any attachments?

No. There really isn't any need for them since there isn't a wand/hose to use elsewhere. It does have the charging/drying base as well as an extra mopping roller head.

The best bedroom Smart Clock just got even better. The Lenovo Smart Clock Gen 2 with Wireless Charging Dock keeps your nightstand clutter free. Charge up to two additional devices at once: your phone (using the wireless dock) and another accessory, like a smart watch (using the USB port). The 4~ color touchscreen showcases the time, weather and your family photos with a choice of customizable clock faces or check in on your smart cameras feeds before bed. Enhanced with a built-in nightlight when docked, the light is just bright enough to illuminate your way without waking your partner. With multiroom audio, you can add your Lenovo Smart Clock Gen 2 to a speaker group and play media across multiple devices and rooms.

Would the alarm function still work if the internet goes out?

Yes, because it can be set directly on the device as well as through the Google Home app. Doesn't need internet for anything but data it would have to pull from the internet like music/weather and such.

Will this work with the new Xbox Series X gaming console? Thanks

Sort of. From what I understand from Microsoft, the only games you can have on an External USB drive are for the Xbox/Xbox 360/Xbox One. I think you can also have whatever photo/video files on it as well. Series X games have to go on the internal drive or on the new Seagate expansion drive to support the speed required.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 is the next level of premium wireless performance compatible with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, featuring Xbox Wireless and Windows Sonic surround sound. Take mobile calls or listen to your own music simultaneously while gaming through Bluetooth technology. An all-new metal-reinforced headband and strengthened hinge design deliver significant advancements in durability, and re-shaped Aerofit cooling gel-infused memory foam ear cushions provide premium comfort. The upgraded rechargeable battery provides up to 20-hours of wireless gaming. A larger, high-sensitivity mic improves chat clarity and conceals in the housing when muted, while 50mm Nanoclear speakers provide crisp, accurate sound for the ultimate gaming experience.

Are the rechargeable batteries replaceable by the end user? Batteries dont last forever, it would be a shame(and waste of money) to have to trash a 150$ headset because you cant swap a battery.

Not without busting them open. Yes, that it a big problem with a lot of devices nowadays. There might be a place where you can have someone open them up, but having the battery available is probably not going to happen. When these no longer hold a charge, they are going to need to be replaced. Wish it wasn't so.

Is the headset able to be adjusted via the app while connected to the xbox or do you have to adjust it separately?

I can change the settings through the app on my phone while playing. The app connects through bluetooth so I don't think they interfere with each other.

Does this fully support Dolby Atmos on Xbox one and Xbox Series x, through the Dolby Atmos App and and games that support Atmos?

I don't think so. When I set them up on my Xbox One X, the setting for these to work is Windows Sonic for Headphones. I have a Dolby Atmos license for another set but I can't select it with these because it says my license does not support these headphones. That being said, they sound great using Windows Sonic. Hope that helps.

Produce clear pictures and sound with this Miroir Full HD pico projector. The 7000 mAh lithium-polymer battery offers up to 2 hours of viewing time, while the pair of 2W speakers deliver high-quality sound for an all-around multimedia experience. This Miroir Full HD pico projector has HDMI and USB Type-C ports for secure connection to a variety of input devices.

What speakers go well with this??

Anything with a simple 3.5 mm (headphone style plug) would work, though the built in 2W speakers are pretty good for a small space. The projector can even power the speakers if they can be powered via USB.
