Bright Lights and Bright Idea
on February 6, 2022

Before buying this, note that it doesn’t include the Nest Camera and I don’t believe you can make it work with other cameras. If you already have a Nest Camera, this is a must-have. It not only gives you a motion sensor floodlight, but it also adds a charger to it.
Installation was easy for me because I already had the wring. I have done this type of install many times and have no issues with it, but if you don’t already have the wiring available and you don’t like running power cables yourself, a pro is recommended.
Bright lights with a good motion sensor make this a must-have for the Nest Cam. One thing that many users, myself included, will find missing is an option to keep it on for longer intervals. You’re stuck with what it offers by default. This is an issue with most floodlights, but manufacturers should have started to add some smartness to them by now. This is the smart IoT devices generation after all. I’m not that young anymore but I like smart homes and wish even my floodlights had some “intelligence” built in.
The only other thing about this floodlight that may bother some people is that its footprint is a bit overkill in my opinion, but it’s just a matter of perception and it doesn’t get in the way of functionality.
A great additional feature is the charger for the camera. This gives me peace of mind, especially when I’m away from home and can’t recharge the batteries. I would say the charger was a bright idea, but it would sound like a pun although not intentional. Overall, it surpassed my expectations.

Owlet Dream Sock Baby Monitor
on February 5, 2022
Posted by: jailoliv
from Medford OR
To start, let me clarify that the “baby” this was tried on is already 16 months old. There are four socks but only one is for toddlers. The other three won’t be used for her.
My daughter likes it but she thinks that it’s best suited for younger babies and that’s why I’m looking forward to trying it on the new grandbaby coming in a couple of months. She used the previous model and absolutely loved it. It actually helped her with her anxiety as a first-time parent. As for this one, she stopped using it after the fourth night because her toddler would remove it and wake himself up along with mom, dad and whoever else might be in the house. Realizing it would play a very loud lullaby when it wasn’t on his foot, he would make sure it didn’t stay there for long just to listen to it. Younger babies shouldn’t experience the same issue. Be warned though.
The data gathered through the app can provide parents with good insight about their baby sleep quality, which can potentially help moms and dads adjust beds, room temperature or even discuss with their health provider about what might be going on with the baby.
As a witness, I can say that the Owlet Dream Sock Baby Monitor is more useful for new but not so much for more veteran parents who knows what to expect and are less anxious about their babies while they sleep. I recommend it for the former but not for the latter. It is also best for babies under 12 months.

Convenience and Quality with a Minor Catch
on February 2, 2022
Posted by: jailoliv

Very easy to install to my Wi-Fi. My iPhone and iPad automatically recognized it when I printed from them. You can even scan from your phone directly to the printer no matter where you are.
If you ever printed photos in a printer that doesn’t have a dedicated tray for photo papers, you know that it can be frustrating and it is prone to errors, making you waste time and money. Fortunately, this HP Envy Inspire comes with a tray exclusive for photos that actually works and does so very well. Equally important, the pictures look professional, which is something really important to me because I take a lot of photos and I expect the best ones to look great on paper.
Text is excellent like all modern HP printers and the speed is very good for most home offices although it could be considered slow if you print a lot of work documents. What I dislike is the fact that it uses a tri-color cartridge, which is a waste of ink in my opinion. You run out of magenta, for instance, and you have to buy another cartridge, wasting the remaining yellow and blue inks.
Here are the Pros:
• Easy menu on an LCD color screen
• Dedicated photo tray with two-sided capabilities
• Supports up to Wi-Fi generation 5
• Easy connection to mobile devices such as phones and tablets
• Excellent photo and print quality
• Great app features such as remote scan and print
• Duplex printing, a must for many people and great to save paper.
• 6 months of Instant Ink included, which is sent to you automatically when the printer senses your running of ink
And the Cons:
• Only works with Original HP ink. It guarantees quality but HP ink is not cheap
• Instant Ink Subscription is great and started cheap, but they just increased their price depending on your type of subscription. It is convenient but it also optional, so you can decide whether this is a con or pro.
• Tri-color ink cartridge. I prefer individual color cartdriges.
• Doesn’t support the newest Wi-Fi generations 6 and 6e. Not many homes have that yet, but it is the future of newer Wi-Fi routers.
You can’t go wrong with an HP printer, and this one is no exception. Despite my complaints about their tri-color cartridge and Instant Ink subscription, which is somewhat pricey but very convenient, especially if you print a lot, its print quality is unmatched.

ILLUMINATING EYE MASSAGER As the eye contour has delicate skin that is up to 5 times thinner than facial skin along with muscles that can be overworked through blinking 10,000 times a day and movement every 10 seconds, the area is very prone to signs of stress, lack of sleep and aging. The IRISTM, with its innovative Alternating T-SonicTM Technology was specially developed as an answer to the strains the eye contour undergoes to bring every user refreshed, younger-looking eyes.

It Feels Good
on January 30, 2022
Posted by: jailoliv
from Southern Oregon
To start, let me clarify that this was tested mostly by my girlfriend and I’m just trying to repeat her words here. The first thing she said was that it felt good. As I watched her, I couldn’t but think that it looked odd. It wiggles when it’s massaging. It’s almost comical but I don’t think that really matters.
I tried it myself once and it didn’t hurt or felt odd. I wouldn’t say it felt good, but it definitely didn’t feel bad either. My girlfriend genuinely likes it, but she says she has noticed only a slight difference in darkness around her eyes after the massage. I couldn’t tell much of a difference either but I have never noticed any dark circles on them anyway. She is willing to wait a few more days to see how they will look after daily use. She just emphasized that her eyes feel revigorated and for her, that’s a plus. It helps with the creams she uses as they seem to penetrate her skin deeper. That’s the main reason she is hopeful it will make a difference in the long run.
She mentioned that it vibrates in thirty-second intervals. That’s when you should move it to the other eye or stop it. Her complaint is that the vibration is so light that she has missed it a few times or was not sure it had occurred. She has been paying more attention to it now.
Easy to charge and the silicone seems to be of very good quality. The instruction video on YouTube is short but there is not much to learn anyway.

Efficient and Relatively Quiet for its Size
on January 28, 2022
Posted by: jailoliv
from Southern Oregon
As a member of a family of healthcare professionals and being in the industry myself, I appreciate everything that helps keeping the environment I am in as healthy as possible. Suffering from seasonal allergies, both my daughter and I need that clean air, especially at night. Technology can provide that in hospitals and nobody cares about how it looks because it is mostly out of sight. But, this Kyvol Air Purifier design not only keeps the air very clean, but it is also pleasing to the eyes, looking more like a fancy Bluetooth speaker. Perfect for home environment.
Because I have other air purifiers that work well and I didn’t realize at first that they were very noisy when they detected odor or smoke, I tested this unit very carefully. I’m glad to report that even at its highest fan speed, it is never too loud. That’s a huge deal as I use it in my bedroom and I’m a bit too sensitive to noise. I don’t want you to think it is super quiet because it is not, but it is less loud than others I have at similar size. Also, as the air gets cleaner, it becomes gradually quieter and it doesn’t disturb my sleep.
I can’t deny the lights are fun but it may be a big distraction when you’re trying to sleep. Fortunately, you can turn them off.
My take: efficient, elegant, and relatively quiet

Packed with Fun
on January 20, 2022

My daughter, who just turned 13, was so happy. In less than an hour she was very comfortable riding it. She was a bit insecure at first but soon realized it self-balanced. I’d rather not mention here how long it took for me to feel safe, but it is. If you’ve never used a similar hover, you will feel insecure like she…well, ok, like I did, but you will quickly notice that it’s a lot more stable and safer than non-powered ones.
Six-mile range is not a lot. If you use it in a steep area or if you are on the heavy side, that range can be halved. Still, you can play for about an hour or so non-stop before having to recharge it. In our experience, it lasted about an hour and 45 minutes the first time, counting breaks. I believe that range is the only downside of the Hover 1 Ranger Scooter but after a few days, it feels like it lasts longer. That may be mainly because I stopped playing as much and let it mostly for my daughter to enjoy it.
The RGB light effects are fun, and you can control them with the app that you can download on your phone. I would just advise to not let your kids use the app while riding the rover. That would be an invitation for disaster like having to replace a phone that fell and broke into pieces, or worse such as a getting hefty hospital bill and an injured child. Not that this is necessarily a dangerous toy, but you get the picture.
If you want a longer range, go with an upgrade model instead. Otherwise, your kid or kids will still have a lot of fun with this one. Just let them play and don’t forget that there is a weight limit, which if exceeded can not only increase the chances of breaking it but also decreasing the range.

All Wireless Doorbells Should Come with One
on January 19, 2022
Posted by: jailoliv
from Medford, OR
Just what every wireless doorbell should come with. A few months ago, I spent about two weeks out of town and didn’t realize that my Nest Doorbell battery was running out of power. About two days after I had arrived at my destination, it just went dark. No communication. It created a lot of anxiety. I know! How did we survive before smart doorbells were invented, right? Fortunately, I had security cameras installed, so the anxiety was manageable, but it was awful to have something that I’ve learned to depend on, and it was down because the battery charge ran out.
Easy to install, feels well built, and the cable long enough for my need. Just before I received this Panel, it was rainy and cloudy. But the days have been clear and sunny ever since. So, my experience has been under an ideal condition for solar panels. I honestly can’t say if it is going to perform well enough in cloudy days, but so far it has given me hope that I will never need to charge it again.
We rarely get many weeks without sunshine. So, I believe that even during those rare weeks, the battery will have enough charge to wait for sunny days. My only concern here is that the 4W rating doesn’t seem accurate. I measured the output power on a very sunny day, and it was just about 1.9W. That could mean that charging during not ideal weather may not be enough to prevent it from ever needing to be charged on regular power outlet. It should, however, decrease the number of times you need to remove the doorbell to recharge. Not ideal, but still very good. But again, I’m making assumptions here since I have had cold but sunny days.

Simple, Still Great
on January 15, 2022

It’s incredible the number of Sonicare models. It must be overwhelming to select the “right” one. The main function – brushing your teeth – works the same, no matter the model. There are differences though. Some do other jobs such as gum massage, timer for every different function you select, and so on. For this HX3641/02 model, it does the basic, but way better than any manual and most electric toothbrushes out there, even for simple functions such as just brushing your teeth.
One of the most interesting features is the 30-second QuadPacer. This feature is in most if not all newer Sonicare models, but I was surprised to see it here because this one is not among the high-end models. And because its battery lasts about two weeks, it is a perfect companion for travel or work. That’s what I’m going to use it for since I already have another one with more features.
Philips always reminds consumers that Sonicare it is the most recommended brand by dentist. This is not just marketing gimmick. Good for them but even better for consumers. Sonicare is that good and I can attest that from my own experience. Years ago, I started to have some gum issues and after my dentist recommended Sonicare, the issue went away for good.
The only downside to this model is that it doesn’t come with a USB charger. On the upside, it can be charged with USB and I have plenty of chargers around, including my computer.

Really Plug-and-Play and Excellent Capture
on December 18, 2021
Posted by: jailoliv
from Medford, OR
Latency is hardly perceptible. First live streamer that I’ve owned that i can hardly notice any lag at all. My experience with others, even at 1080p, has always been disappointing but this displays almost no latency at 4K and 30fps. I could hardly believe, especially because this is by no means a fancy streamer.
Absolutely no issues connecting to my DSLR or my computer. As for computer, they recommend at least an i7 with a nVidia 1060 graphics card. That was no issue for me but be warned that your experience may not be as nice as mine if you have a lower end PC/laptop. I didn’t try it with a MAC so I can’t talk about that. What I can say is that connecting it to a PC works really well IF your PC has a USB 3 port and a decent graphics card. You will not get a good result with USB 2 simply because the limited bandwidth of that port, no matter what your CPU and GPU are.
So far, I am very satisfied with performance and image quality. Although it requires good equipment to perform at its best, what I think everybody will have no complain about is its plug and play capability. No drivers needed, I plugged it to difference computers and cameras and although performance changed, especially with lower end equipment, it just worked with all of them. Few things are more frustrating than trying to make a peripheral device work with different computers. Not with this streamer.
If you’re a gamer and want to capture it for YouTube or similar channel, look no further. There are cheaper alternatives out there, but they can’t match the quality of this one. The money you save is not worth it when you consider the many issues you encounter and have to figure out yourself. I can use that time on something more useful.

Nostalgic but Still Modern
on December 16, 2021
Posted by: jailoliv
from Medford, OR
Back to the 70’s when I was a little kid. That’s what this thing made me feel. My parents had one and I remember not only listening to records on it but also being curious about how it worked, especially because I could hear sounds even when the volume was all the way down. It was one of those things that led me to fall in love with technology and music.
The difference between this and what my parents had is almost none. But only on the surface. Under the hood, it packs a lot of modern technology. It supports Bluetooth, which allowed me to pair it to external speakers wirelessly, connect it to my phone and even stream music from it. That might sound silly, and I thought it was until I realized that I could use it as a speaker for my phone during camping or going on picnics.
Another difference is the rechargeable battery that lasts a whole day and beyond. And to think that the one I remember used 6 or 8 AA batteries that lasted a couple of hours if that. I actually used to find it funny because as the batteries lost its power, the music sounded funny as the motor couldn’t run at normal speed. Batteries were thrown away and new ones had to be inserted or you had to connect it directly to power, which was strange for something that was supposed to be portable. And speaking of portability, the Revolution Go is as portable as the old ones were, with a strap and handles.
Just for fun, try 45 rpm on a 33rpm record. It won’t sound good, but I used to have fun with it until my parents would make it a painful experience to me, if you know what I mean.
It worked well with the few LPs I have, including 3 "compact" ones. The built-in speaker sounds good for what it is. Better than my iPhone but it is not anything to brag about. It is just good for its purpose, but the makers must have realized that and that’s why I believe they added the Bluetooth functionality as well as physical connectors for external speakers. Totally worth the experience.
