Even though Genesis would have greater commercial success years after the release of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, for me from an artistic standpoint they never topped their final album with Peter Gabriel at the helm. If anyone is wondering where to start upon discovering the Peter Gabriel-era Genesis this album is the best place.
If you're looking for an introduction to the Hall & Oates discography, look no further than The Essential Daryl Hall & John Oates as this collection has all of the hits & great deep cuts from their catalog. Recommended in the highest regard.
For anyone just discovering one of the greatest & most influential groups in R&B music history, look no further than The Temptations Gold as it contains their biggest hit singles & choice deep cuts throughout their discography.
For anyone who is just discovering Coheed and Cambria, you need to look no further for an introduction to their discography than with The Essential Coheed and Cambria as it covers songs from each of their studio albums.
On Sol Invictus, Faith No More's first studio album in 18 years they showcase that they can still deliver great music & an album that is worthy of the Faith No More discography. Highly recommended both for longtime fans & those who have just become fans since they reunited.
For anyone who is new to Fleetwood Mac, this double CD The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac would be the best place to begin discovering their music. I recommend this collection very highly.
2005's The Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD was controversial in that it outright buried the Warrior for the most part. In Ultimate Warrior: The Ultimate Collection it allowed Warrior to tell his side of his career. It was also great they were able to work together on this project just before his passing this past April. Though I would've preferred if it'd been a documentary & then matches rather than brief clips of Warrior talking followed by a match. All in all if you were an Ultimate Warrior fan I recommend this DVD set highly.
For anyone looking to learn more about the man who has spent decades in the wrestling business I recommend this DVD in the highest regard. You'll learn about his days as a photographer for the WWWF, his days as a manager in Florida, the AWA & WCW, of course his days of running ECW & his present role in WWE. His take on WWE's version of ECW was eye opening to say the least. You'll also hear comments from many of his peers in the wrestling business too.
Finally, WWE has released a long overdue DVD biography on Macho Man Randy Savage. The biography contained interviews from many of Savage's colleagues including Hulk Hogan, Bret "Hitman" Hart, Kevin Nash & Diamond Dallas Page to name a few along with his mother & his brother Lanny "The Genius" Poffo. The matches on the bonus disc were many matches that have never been released on prior WWE DVD releases. All in all if you're a Macho Man Randy Savage fan I recommend this DVD in the highest regard.
On Thin Lizzy's commercial breakthrough Jailbreak they showcase just how criminally underrated they are. This record contains their biggest hit singles the title track & "The Boys Are Back in Town". If you're new to Thin Lizzy & looking for where to begin, look no further than Jailbreak.
