Excellent Sound Quality, Budget-Friendly

Sony has really been putting out some excellent audio products lately, and these earbuds live up to that high expectation. These Sony earbuds are, at this price point, among the best in class for sound quality, design, and active noise canceling.
These earbuds look great and are very comfortable to wear. They have great battery life. Another plus for them is they are water resistant so outside use will not be a problem for them as long as they are not being used for swimming or some activity where they get immersed in water.. I usually don’t like to use my more expensive reference quality headsets for active use, so I like to have a pair of less expensive earbuds like this for riskier outside activities.
These earbuds are also great for someone on a budget but who still wants great sound and features. These earbuds offer an insane amount of sound quality for the price. It creates full range sound that approaches the quality of more expensive earbuds. Likewise for the noise canceling. The Sony ANC formula has trickled down from their flagship models to mid tier offerings like these earbuds.
Another great feature is the Sony Connect App which allows the sounds and use of the earbuds to be fully customized. Several EQ presets are available as well as the option to fully adjust the EQ bands to preference.
I highly recommend these Sony wireless earbuds. The sound quality is off the charts good, while also being extremely budget friendly.

Immersive Soundstage, Rivals Separate Components

I recently moved and could not bring my large surround sound system with me. So I was looking for a suitable alternative that sounds good, but does not take up as much space as a receiver and bulky surround sound speakers. After using the The JBL 1300X for a few days, I can say without reservation that it rivals the performance of a dedicated component system. I have experienced soundbars before, but I was completely shocked by how good this system sounds!
The system arrived in the L shaped box that is typical for soundbar systems with a subwoofer. The components in the box were secured well and fully protected by styrofoam and a synthetic wrap. Included accessories are a high speed HDMI cable, a remote, and mounting brackets for the soundbar and surround speakers. I appreciate the brackets being included for no extra charge.
Setup is as easy as can be. Download the JBL One App and it will walk you through the setup steps. I had no problem connecting the App to the system and configuring the components. Setup was wireless, seamless, and easy. A firmware update was required that took about 20 minutes. A sound calibration function uses test tones to customize the sound to the room acoustics. I highly recommend running the calibration with the surround speakers because it really dials in the sound and distance of the surrounds.
The JBL App and remote allows the sound to be customized to a certain extent. For example bass and the surround sound effects can be set to low, medium, or high. There is a 3 band equalizer (bass, mid, treble) available in the App as well. All of the functions can be controlled by the App, so I put the physical remote away. JBL designed this system with simplicity of setup in mind so that the average person can easily turn it on and enjoy great sound.
Sound quality is off the charts good! The bass response is powerful, and yet defined. Bass response is so strong that I have it set to low or medium, depending on what I am listening to. The main sound bar sounds great as well. Voice clarity is excellent. JBL really outdid themselves in the voice clarity department with this soundbar. If you regularly have trouble hearing dialogue, then you are going to love this soundbar. It really enhances the dialogue intelligibility without distorting the other sound frequencies. When watching a movie that is encoded in Dolby or Dolby Atmos, the immersion is truly outstanding. The system creates a bubble of surround around and above you, that must be experienced to be believed.
JBL does not exactly specify the breakdown of the 11 channels, but as far as I can tell it means that in the main soundbar there is left, right, center, left front surround, right front surround, left width, right width. For the rears it appears to be left, right, left width, right width. If the surrounds are connected to the soundbar then all 11 channels are folded into the front soundstage. There are a total of 4 up-firing Atmos compatible channels , two in the main soundbar and one in each of the surrounds.
The soundbar has a small LCD that is large enough to be easily read, without being distracting. The display turns off a few seconds after the command is received. The screen or the App does not indicate the type of audio signal being received, as far as I could tell. I hope JBL can address this in a future update.
I want to give a dedicated section of my review to the excellent surround sound speakers. Having dedicated surround speakers really makes a difference. I love that they are battery operated and thus completely wireless. This simplifies placement immensely. I only use the surrounds for movies or shows that will benefit from surround sound, so I appreciate being able to have them neatly put away until I need them. The surrounds can be charged by connecting them to the main soundbar, or by using a USB-C cable. However, the surrounds can only receive a firmware update when docked to the soundbar.
There are a total of 4 HDMI ports, 3 inputs and 1 eARC. The inputs are compatible with up to 4K at 60Hz, and HDR10 and Dolby Vision pass through. The inputs are not HDMi 2.1, so if you need 120Hz, then you must connect directly to your 120Hz compatible TV. This only applies to high speed gaming because, at the time of this writing, gaming systems are the only devices capable of outputting a 120Hz signal.
I highly recommend the JBL Bar 1300X. It not only sounds fabulous, but is amazingly versatile due to the nearly wireless design. It creates a Dolby and Dolby Atmos soundstage that is comparable to a dedicated component system, without the large footprint of separate components

High Performance At a Budget Price

This Hisense U6 series TV is an excellent budget TV. It offers quantum dot Mini-LED technology at a price that used to be reserved for the more expensive top of the line TV’s. I am rating this TV on its performance and in comparison to other TV’s in this price range, not against TV’s at higher price points.
Setup was simple due to the excellent Google TV operating system. I really like that Google TV permits the TV to be configured as a dumb TV. If you prefer your own streaming device, this is a great option.
Once up and running, the TV offers numerous picture and sound options. I prefer Theater Day and Dolby Vision IQ (when available). The QLED mini-LED design creates rich colors that greatly improves the picture quality over standard LED TV’s. Black levels are excellent due to the full array local dimming that minimizes blooming and also enables excellent contrast. HDR performance is limited by the 600 Nit brightness level, but still looks great.
The sound quality is excellent, for a LED TV. I am using it with a soundbar, but for some people the sound produced by the two 15 watt speakers will be enough.
I can't say enough good things about this TV. For the price it offers features and performance that would have only been reached by TV’s costing thousands of more dollars. If you want the best performance take a look at the excellent, but more expensive, Hisense UH8 series. But if you want high performance at a budget price, definitely give this one a look.

Love It, Already Want Another One!

Electric scooter use has grown exponentially in the last few years so I was very excited to find out what the hype was about. I have a lot of experience riding bicycles recreationally, and wanted to compare an electric scooter to bicycling. After a few days of using the Hover-1 Boss, I am totally hooked. It is well constructed, rides comfortably, and is easy to handle. It is perfect for recreationally or short commuting. I already want to get another so I can ride with other family members or friends!
The scooter arrived double boxed. Once the interior box was opened, I noticed that the scooter was well protected by plastic and styrofoam. The assembly process was simple and I think most people should find it to be quite easy. The scooter is shipped almost completely assembled, and all that is required is to use four screws to attach the handlebar section to the scooter mainframe.
The next step is to charge the battery using the proprietary charger. Charging takes between 5 and 6 hours. The battery is integrated into the scooter and does not appear to be user replaceable. Next download the App and pair the scooter. The App is not required to use the scooter, but is required to access certain functions. The App requires the creation of an account.
There are four selectable speed modes:
Pedestrian (P) 0-3 MPH
Eco (E) 0-9 MPH
Drive (D) 0-15 MPH
Sport (S) 0-20 MPH.
Eco (E) 0-9 MPH
Drive (D) 0-15 MPH
Sport (S) 0-20 MPH.
As soon as I got moving I was completely blown away by how easy and fun this scooter is to ride! The ride is comfortable and stable. The brakes are responsive and provide strong braking power. The throttle takes some getting used to due to the powerful motor, but it didn’t take me long to get the hang of it. I really like how the modes limit the speed. If you are new to electric scooters, I recommend practicing with Eco mode first to get accustomed to the throttle. In Drive and Sport mode the throttle has quite a bit of kick. This is also helpful because some cities have a scooter speed limit of 10 mph in congested pedestrian areas.
The scooter has the kick to start safety measure enabled by default, and I am going to keep that function on. This prevents the throttle from engaging the acceleration unless the scooter is moving. This will prevent accidental acceleration before the rider is completely on the scooter.
The scooter is easily controlled by the App or the multi-function power button. While I am riding I use the button to quickly cycle through the speed modes. A quick double press of the button will turn the headlight and taillight on and off. In Pedestrian mode the lights are on by default. The lights are both sufficiently bright. The App is the only way to lock and unlock the scooter. When locked the scooter motor can not be engaged, but the wheels will still spin so a chain lock is advisable to prevent theft. The LED display on the scooter provides information on all of the scooter's vital functions. It is easy to read except in direct sunlight.
After about 15 miles my battery charge was an excellent 80 percent full. I initially kept my speed at about 10 mph. I will easily be able to get the rated 24 miles per charge. The maximum range can be extended by riding at slower speeds and by riding downhill to maximize natural momentum. Likewise avoiding inclines and uneven terrain will maximize battery power.
Finally, how does this compare to riding a bicycle? I enjoy both equally depending on the situation. If I am riding off road or on uneven terrain, I will ride my bicycle. If I want some leg exercise then I will use my bicycle. Even though I was pleasantly surprised that I got more of a workout riding this scooter than I expected, due to the standing riding position that engages the core muscles. But when I want to run around and have fun, I will definitely choose this scooter. Even though I would not describe it as easily portable due to the weight and size, it is much easier to transport than a bicycle. Since the handlebars can be folded down I can easily fit it in my back seat or trunk. I am very much looking forward to bringing it with me the next time I go somewhere I can ride.

Nicely Designed Surge Protector

I am using this surge protector to power most of the devices in my home work station. It is set up on my desk behind two 27 inch monitors, so that the surge protector and plugs are out of sight.
The four outlets are nicely spaced and rotate to allow over sized or awkwardly shaped power adapters to be connected. This is an ingenious design and I wish more surge protectors would be designed like this.
This surge protector is perfect for desktop use because of the four available plugs and the four USB outlets. Having the USB outlets on the table allows them to be used with standard length USB cords. Another benefit of a desktop surge protector for me is that with my desk being on the long side, I can plug my printer to this surge protector because the printer power cable is not long enough to reach a power outlet.
The power cord is about four feet in length. It is well contracted, and uses a heavy gauge, braided design. The plug orientation is side attachment so the cord does not protrude from your power outlet. The USB ports are rated at 24W of total output. Two screw hole mounts are on the back.

High Power, High Quality, Fast Charging

This is a high quality, high power USB car charger. It has 2 available ports, one USB-C and one

What makes this car charger stand out is that the USB-C port is rated for a whopping 60W! That is enough to charge most laptops. The USB-A port uses the remaining 18W, which in of itself exceeds the charging output of most typical 5W power adapters.
I tested the USB-C port with my IPhone using a USB-C to lightning cable and was able to confirm that it is fast charging. Fast charging ability varies from device to device, but this charger is compatible with both Apple and Android fast charging.
Another great way to use this charger is for charging power-hungry portable batteries. Using a low-power adapter to charge a portable battery can be agonizingly slow. This adapter will charge batteries much, much faster using either of the ports. But of course the 60 W port will provide the maximum performance.
This is a fabulous charger and it is now being used as my primary car charger. When my battery is low on the go, I am satisfied that I am getting the maximum charge my device is capable of.

Attractive And Striking Statement Piece

I have long been a technology enthusiast, but this is the first smartwatch that I have embraced. Not because I have anything against smart watches, but because I am also a watch enthusiast. Over the years I have assembled a nice collection of watches and I consider wearing a watch to be a statement piece that complements my dress and the occasion. For this reason I have not embraced generic smart watches.
I own other Citizen watches and have long been impressed by their precision, build quality and appearance. This Citizen watch easily meets that high expectation. First impression out of the box is that it is noticeably heavy and appears to be exquisitely engineered.The watch has significant weight and looks great on my wrist. I plan to use it for exercise and outdoor activities, and when it matches my clothing. The silicon strap makes it perfect for this function. The watch strap can be swapped out easily because it is the standard watch size.
Thai Citizen watch is, as the title states, a hybrid design. What this means is that it is a traditional mechanical wristwatch with a black and white digital display faceplate. The face place display is limited to basic readouts. But it does update with the current readings. The time function is the traditional moving minute and second hands. The watch face is not interactive in any way, with the exception of that a double tap will slightly illuminate the watch face. The three buttons can be used to navigate the watch settings.
To operate and control this watch it is completely necessary to download the Citizen Connectected App. Once you pair the watch and your phone, the watch is ready to use. Most of the watch functions and information can be controlled using the App. The App also gives you the option of selecting several different displays for the watch face. The App can also customize the functions of the three side buttons.
Be sure to explore the App and enable any functions,notifications, and permissions for any Apps you wish to use with this watch. For example to share data with my Apple Health App I had to specifically select and allow that function. I had to do this in a few different places in the App and in my iPhone settings.
I was able to receive alerts from my phone on this watch, but they were informational only. There is no audible beep from the watch, only one long vibration. It is not possible to answer a message or call with the watch, or even read the full message if it is longer than one line of characters.The watch measures steps, calories burned, sleep, heart rate, and oxygen levels. The accuracy of the heart rate and oxygen sensors requires that the strap be sufficiently tight for the sensors to get a proper reading. The watch can be used independently of the phone it is paired to, and will sync its recorded date the next time it is near the phone.
Battery life is phenomenal. I was able to fully charge it in less than an hour, and after about a week of use the battery reads 70%. The rated battery life is 18 days, dependent on use. The greyscale, non-touch display significantly contributes to the long battery life. The included USB charger is a proprietary magnetic design. The battery strength is visible in the App and the watch face.
I am very picky about watches, and this smartwatch is a welcome addition to my collection. As long as you don’t need or expect the full features of a smart watch, then the Citizen hybrid smartwatch is an excellent choice. I expect and am looking forward to many years of enjoyable wear and use.

Will Get Another, As My Wine Collection Grows

My family and I are wine lovers so we have long considered adding a wine cooler to our home. We do not have an available wine cellar or basement, so a wine cooler is the best option to store the various wines we have acquired over the years. Our past travels to California wine country have resulted in us joining several wine clubs because this is the only way to get some products that are sold exclusively through some vineyards.
The delivery and setup was straightforward and trouble free. Cutting the plastic ties from the box results in the top side of the box easily sliding up and off, allowing the cooler to be lifted out of the box bottom in the upright position. The door opening orientation is reversible from left to right. The front 2 feet are adjustable to level the cooler if necessary.
An important consideration is selecting a proper place that provides 4 inches of all around ventilation and an independent power outlet. The power cord is about 4 feet in length so a nearby outlet is a must. The manual advises to not use an extension cord, and to not plug anything else into the outlet that is used for the cooler.
The manual knob thermostat has 3 settings (cold, normal, and colder), which range in temperature between 68 and 48 degrees fahrenheit, which makes it perfect for storing almost all varieties of red or white wine.
The storage racks will fit 14 standard wine bottles. The thicker bottles that are often used for pinot noir do not fit well in the top two forward-facing shelves. I was able to fit the thicker bottles on the bottom side-to- side orientation shelves that hold 4 bottles in total.
The cooler is not noisy once it reaches the target temperature, but while initially cooling there is some typical compressor noise.
This wine cooler does what it is supposed to do, and looks good while doing it. The stainless steel finish blends in perfectly to our home décor. As my wine collection is likely to grow, it is only a matter of time before I get another.

Full Featured, Easily Installed, Easy To Use

This Emerson smart thermostat is full featured and easy to use. The Sensi Touch 2 fully monitors and controls all of the features of my HVAC system.
The installation process is relatively straightforward and completely explained using the App. Downloading the Sensi App is the first step in the installation process because it provides step by step instructions. I ran into some complications due to the wiring on my old system not being labeled properly, but I was able to overcome this issue using the comprehensive App instructions.
I was lucky enough that the screw holes from my old base matched the new base, so I didn’t need to drill new holes. The base has a built in level so making sure it is straight was easy. Once powered on the App scans a QR code on the thermostat to start the configuration process. After about 5 minutes the App and thermostat are ready to use. My opinion is that most people will be able to handle the installation without much difficulty as long as their wiring is properly configured.
My HVAC system is variable speed and multi stage, so I was very pleased that this thermostat has the capability to fully control all of these features. It also has the ability to cool to dehumidify. This humidity control feature is very important to me since I live in Florida and humidity is a critical factor to climate control here and ultimately comfort.
As expected the App can easily set schedules and can be controlled away from home using Wi-Fi. I highly recommend the Sensi Touch 2 thermostat. It looks great on the wall and allows me to fully control all of the capabilities of my modern HVAC systems..

WHCH720N Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones

Premium Noise Canceling at Less Than Premium Price

Sony has long made, in my opinion, the best noise canceling headphones with their top of the line XM3 line. I have the XM3’s and they are hands down my favorite over the ear headphones. Which brings me to the new Sony 720N’s. The most important factor about these headphones is that the top-notch noise canceling that Sony is known for, has trickled down to their middle range tier. Are the 720N/s as good as noise canceling as the more expensive XM3’s? No but the noise canceling performance is pretty close. If you want premium noise canceling performance, at a less than premium price, then these headphones are very worth considering.
In the box are the headphones, a USB-C charging cable, and an audio cable. A carrying case is not included.
I immediately noticed how light these headphones are when I first handled the box. Once out of the box how light they are is even more noticeable. The black finish looks and feels good. I could barely tell that I had them on. It would not be accurate to describe the finish as cheap, but it lacks the premium finish of more expensive headphones and is what I would expect at this price point.
As far as sound quality goes, these headphones rock! They deliver hard-hitting, full range sound. Everything you would expect out of Sony headphones. The Sony App can be used to further configure the sound and offers an equalizer.
The available codes are SBC, and AAC. No APT codecs are included. Sony does include a feature called Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE), which enhances compressed sound.
Battery life has improved greatly in the past few years, and these headphones are no exception. The battery power is an amazing 30+ hours. These headphones are Bluetooth multipoint capable.
These Sony headphones are perfect for someone who needs noise canceling capability, but are on a budget. They are also a great choice for a second pair of headphones that can be left at a secondary location such as work, or for any other place you don’t want to take your expensive headphones.

Replaced an old SXRD Sony 60" from 8 years ago. Tried the 65" 930 model and that picture was good however not like the 940D. Full array backlighting makes a big difference. First one upon delivery had a line all along the right side of the screen and a horizontal line about 6 inches up from the bottom of the screen. Magnolia came out a few days later with a replacement and this one is much better. Remote control is not user friendly, poor design, Arc audio does not work with my 2 year old Yamaha receiver so must use separate fibre optic cable to allow audio to services. Sony 3D nothing like the Samsung. 4 free movies promotion was difficult to set up and must supply credit card info to get promo and only 8 titles to choose from. I wish they would have included the 3D glasses instead of free movies with a $6500 TV. Overall happy with the purchase and would recommend as a great home theater TV with lots of smart features.

Cable Box breaks ARC

Are you using a cable box? Cable and satellite boxes are notorious for breaking ARC. When I disconnected the cable box HDMI cable from the chain, ARC started working. I am going to get a HDMI "CEC less adapter" and connect it to the cable box which should fix the problem.

It is about as loud as any powerful vacuum. To my ear no more or no less. I do not know the exact decibel level. But my pets run and hide from it.

What is the charging setup - does it need to be charged on a wall-mounted dock or can you just plug it in anywhere with an AC adapter while it's folded over? Can the battery be removed easily and swapped, assuming they start selling batteries separately?
The battery can be charged while attached to the vacuum, either when it is folded over or upright. The battery can be removed and charged while removed. The battery is very easy to remove and attach.

No it can not. This camera does not have electrical connections for a junction box.

I want to use wireless assuming it has an internal battery you can remove, bring inside and charge then insert it back in unit? How does it work wirelessly?
The camera housing snaps out of the wall mount by pressing a button. You bring the entire unit in for charging. It is a very simple method.
