If You Want The Best Look No Further!

I have long moved away from using separate audio components and have instead turned to soundbars to take their place. In the beginning of the soundbar generation sound quality was compromised. But as the art evolved sound quality drastically improved. Since sound quality is a priority for me, I only use flagship model soundbars for my primary viewing area. My previous soundbar system was in this category, and I was very pleased with the powerful surround sound it generated. I thought I had the pinnacle of performance, until I tried the Samsung Q990D. There is a lot of hype surrounding this soundbar, but rest assured that the Q990D completely lives up to that hype. This Samsung soundbar system completely outperforms my previous soundbar system in every category. The price is expensive, but if you want the best audio performance, then look no further. Please read further so I can explain why.
The system arrived in a rather large and heavy box. The total box weight is 62 pounds so be prepared. Most of the weight is due to the subwoofer and the soundbar itself. The weight of the soundbar is not to be underestimated, and had me excited to give it a try. All things being equal, heavier speakers means beefier drivers, which usually mean powerful sound. The components in the box were nicely secured and protected by the packing materials. The included accessories consist of a high speed HDMI cable, remote control, and a wall mount kit for the soundbar. I especially appreciated that the mounting bracket was included because some other manufacturers charge extra for them.
After running the cables and power cords, the next setup step is using the Samsung SmartThings App to configure the system. The App guides you through the setup steps. Setup was seamless and I easily connected the App to the system and configurged the components. The excellent SpaceFit Sound Pro room calibration function uses chirps and tones to analyze the room and optimize the sound to the room. I have used room calibration before with varying results, but I can say without hesitation that this is the best calibration feature I have ever used! I have a very tricky acoustic environment due to high ceilings and an irregular open room design, but this system really dialed in my room acoustics and surround sound distance..
The remote control and SmartThings App provide for complete control and customization of this Soundbars numerous features and settings. There are four settings to choose from: Surround, Game Pro, Standard and Adaptive. There is an EQ but it can only be accessed using the Standard sound settings. The other sound settings seem to disable the EQ. I recommend experimenting with the sound settings to determine what sounds best to you. I have been going back and forth between Adaptive for TV shows and Surround for movies. The Adaptive Sound setting seems to provide the clearest dialogue while maintaining the original sound profile. The Surround mode sounds amazing with Dolby and Dolby Atmos encoded soundtracks. The system can be fully controlled by the App, so I don’t use the remote in any way.
Samsung describes this soundbar as “the best of the best,” and I completely agree. This is hands down the best soundbar system I have ever heard! It easily rivals some excellent, and substantially more expensive component systems, that I have used. The subwoofer produces a bass response that is powerful, while being tight and well defined. If you are a bass lover then you will truly enjoy what this system can do. The soundbar itself truly excels at midrange, midbass, and high frequency sound production. I could not believe how good my favorite TV shows and movies sounded. Dialogue clarity is perfect because voice intelligibility is enhanced without distorting the other sound frequencies. This is likely due to the AI enhanced chipset. The excellent surround sound speakers round out the package nicely. I watched a few Dolby Atmos encoded movies and TV shows and I found the immersion to be amazing. I was completely enveloped in an expansive bubble of sound. I listened to a few of my favorite musical pieces and likewise found the sound quality to be excellent.
This is a 11.1.4 system. Samsung did not provide an exact breakdown of the channel configuration, but a visual inspection seems to indicate the following. The soundbars 7 channels are left, right, center, left front surround, right front surround, left width, and right width. The 4 rear channels are left, right, left width, and right width. There are a total of 4 up-firing Atmos compatible channels, two in the main soundbar and one in each of the surrounds.
Unlike other systems that use puny surround sounds speakers, the surrounds in this system really represent. They feel and sound as good as they look. For movie soundtracks, dedicated quality surrounds are the make or break test of a system. I could tell the moment I lifted them that they would belt out sound with ease. And boy was I not wrong!
There are 3 HDMI ports, 2 inputs and 1 eARC. The inputs are HDMI 2.1 120Hz and are capable of HDR10+ and Dolby Vision pass through. At this time the only devices capable of outputting a 120Hz signal are the PS5 and some PC gaming systems.
I do not have a Samsung TV so I was unable to test the Q-Symphony feature. I am intrigued by the concept however, and am strongly considering a Samsung TV as my next TV purchase.
I was completely blown away by the performance and feature set of the Samsung Q990D soundbar system. The soundstage that it creates makes it hands down the best soundbar system I have ever used. This is the soundbar to get if you want the best that is out there. If I could, I would give it above 5 stars for performance. This system is truly the best in its class.

Compact But Packs a Punch!

Don't underestimate the WOOZOO Globe Fan because of its compact size. In spite of its diminutive size it punches way above its weight class. It moves a shockingly high volume of air with ease. As advertised, it does create full room circulation.
Another great thing that makes this fan really stand out is the ultra quiet operation.Even at the highest setting the powerful motor does not exceed 35 decibels. I like to use it when I am watching TV or listening to music because it does not disrupt the sound.
The compact size makes this fan easy to place and move around as needed.The extra long (5.5 feet) power cord assists with placement. It can be easily placed on the floor, table, or kitchen counter.
This fan has all standard features you would expect, but also some unique ones such as horizontal and vertical rotation.
The remote control is full function. In other words it does what it is supposed to do by accessing all of the features of the fan.
I was really impressed by this handy room fan. I was pleasantly surprised by how powerful this compact fan is. It is easy to move around the home and plan to use it frequently.

Excellent Active Lifestyle Smart Watch

I have a large collection of wristwatches (both of the smart and dumb variety), but I have not owned a true smart sports watch. With that being said, I was very eager to put the COROS Pace Sport Watch through its paces. Please read below for more detail, but to summarize I highly recommend this sports watch!. It does everything one would expect and more. If you are an athlete or someone who needs an active lifestyle smart watch then look no further.
The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was how lightweight it was. Not in a flimsy cheap way, but in an advanced, elegant way. The watch band is rubberized and should fit most wrist sizes easily. The watch band is standard and can be easily swapped out if desired.
This watch is compatible with Apple or Android devices. The first setup step is to download the COROS App and pair the watch to the phone. Creating an account is required to use the App. Next the watch generated a QR code that I was able to scan to complete the process. A firmware update then initiated that took about 10 minutes. I allowed the App to send notifications of all types to the watch. I was able to receive notifications from my phone of not only messages and phone calls, but of a few other App’s that I use as well. It is required to specifically give each App notification permission. It is not possible to use the watch to initiate or respond to messages. It is a read only function.
Numerous activity types are selectable that cover the entire gamut of possible workouts. I selected running and decided to go out for a run. I checked my progress and was very pleased with the results. All of the relevant body metrics (steps, calories burned, sleep, heart rate, Stress levels, and oxygen levels) were monitored. I found the Coros readout to be accurate and consistent with my known routes. Keep in mind that reading body oxygen requires that the watch be tight to the wrist. The watch can somewhat be used independently of the phone. Notifications from the phone will not be received of course, but it will sync the recorded data when next paired.
I am a run club member and try to run intensely several times a week. I am looking forward to using this watch for when I am running or working out. I used my other smart watches with reservations when working out because I was worried about damaging them. I would not describe this watch as rugged, but I feel that it is better suited to outdoor activities than anything else I have used. The watch is water resistant and has a 5 ATM rating. I would not use it for prolonged water activities, but it is nice to know that it can survive rain or being occasionally submerged.
Using the watch is very straightforward using the App or the multi function control buttons on the right side of the watch. The watch menus and App are very intuitively laid out and I think most people will have no problem getting the hang of it fast. It is possible to customize the look and layout of the watch face to a degree.
The GPS mode is cutting edge next generation. I was able to use it to accurately track my location and even create a route for myself with turn by turn directions. I was very impressed with the GPS capabilities and functionality. COROS really hit it out of the park in this area.
One thing I don’t like is that it uses a proprietary charging port for charging the watch. I wish they had gone with the ubiquitous USB standard. So if you decide to travel with this watch make sure it is fully charged before you leave, or that you bring the cable with you and don’t ever lose it. One cable is included in the box.
Battery life is rated at an impressive 38 hours in GPS mode and 15 days for regular use. I have been using it for a few days of moderate use and the battery level has barely budged, so I believe the battery life estimate to be accurate.

I am very impressed by the operation and design of the Logitech Casa wireless keyboard and touchpad kit. I was able to reliably and effortlessly connect to each of the Windows and Chromebook laptops that I tested it with. If you need to share it between different devices, I found the multi-device pairing to be flawless.
In my opinion, this device has two primary applications. The first being as a travel companion. This is the application that I will be using it for. My significant other travels frequently for work and she is very much looking forward to taking it on her first work trip. The design of Casa makes it ideal for using it on the go because of the compact size and that the case protects the keyboard during transport. In the past we have had issues with keyboards getting damaged in baggage because keyboards don’t pack and travel well. The Casa components can be safely and brilliantly contained into a compact case that is the size of a binder. The case has a premium look and feels sufficiently padded so as to provide more than adequate protection. The portable size makes it perfect for use in a hotel room or conference center. Finally, that the case doubles as a stand makes it doubly brilliant.
The second application I see the Casa being useful for is in homes or offices where work space is at a premium. When not in use the components can be neatly stored in the case and put away. This will be especially useful if you need to use your workspace for living space when the work day is done.
I normally prefer a full size ten key keyboard for my primary workstation, but I find the minimalist design of this keyboard to be fully functional, without making too many compromises. The keys are compact, but not too small to make them hard to press. It strikes the right balance between size and function. I was able to effortlessly type this review using this on this keyboard. The keyboard is not backlit, but likely this is to maximize the battery life.
The touchpad is likewise responsive and easy to use. I found it to be equal or or superior to the touchpads built into most laptops. The touchpad and keyboard can be positioned independently of the laptop, making them both ergonomic and very easy to use.
Both devices have an internal battery that is charged using a USB-C cable. The Casa keyboard is rated for up to an incredible 5 months of battery life. The Casa touchpad is rated for up to 3 weeks of battery life. In addition to Bluetooth, the Casa is compatible with the Logi Bolt USB receiver. The Logi Bolt is not included, and must be configured using the Logi App. The case transforms into a stand that is compatible with laptops up to 17 inches in size. The case dimensions match the footprint of most compact laptops. It is somewhat thicker however.
The Logitech Casa is now our primary personal productivity travel companion. Whenever we take our laptop this combination kit will accompany it. The compact size makes it perfect to put in a bag and take on the go. For these reasons I strongly recommend it!

Powerful Portable Performance

This Sharper Image compact hot/cold massager offers outstanding performance. The massaging action is deep and powerful, while also being versatile due to the included accessories. The vibration, and heat and cold function really lives up to its namesake! I was especially impressed by how hot and cold it could get on the highest setting.
Included in the box is a hard case, the massager, 4 attachments, and a USB charging cord. The hard case, like the massager, is well manufactured and feels solid. The massager is about the size of a full size hair dryer, making it easy to wield with one hand. The attachments are for use on different parts of the body and for different effects. It is important to note that only one attachment functions with hot and cold. Fortunately this attachment also has the massage function.
Operation of the unit is simple The power button is multi-function. Holding it down for 2 seconds powers it on and off. When powered on, pressing the power button cycles through the 6 levels of motor power. I was truly amazed by how powerful this massager is. It rivals corded massagers in intensity. There is a USB-C power port for charging. I find this to be especially useful since USB-C charging is becoming universal. The massager is rated to last about 2 hours and takes about 3 hours to charge. After using it for a few days I found these times to be accurate.
The hot/cold function is activated by a control knob. Turn the knob to the left for the cold function, and to the right for the heat function. There are 3 levels of heat and cold intensity that can be selected.
I suffer from intermittent back pain so I am very happy to have this powerful and portable massager to help me get through my episodes of pain. Having a massager that is easy to transport and has heating and cooling functions is going to be a game changer. I highly recommend this powerful and versatile massager! It offers amazing performance making it well worth the price.

Great For Travel, Very Strong Magnet

I am really glad I got this Best Buy Essentials magnetic wireless charger. It works well and is of comparable quality to name brand products. If you need a magnetic charger you can save yourself some money by going with this product.
It features a strong magnet that creates a very solid lock on my iPhone. I am using a case that has a MagSafe magnetic ring built into the case. This is an important detail because if you are using a case it must be magnetic compatible to work. Once attached it takes some force to separate the case from the charger, which I really appreciate.
This charger also works with the Qi wireless charging protocol so it can be used to charge a variety of products.
It is capable of charging an iPhone at the maximum possible of 7.5 watts. This is an Apple limitation and has nothing to do with this charger. Other products can be charged at up to 10 watts.
There is a powered USB port on the interior of the charger that can provide 5 watts of power. If you are going to use this port that way make sure you are using a power adapter that provides at least 20 watts or your wireless charging speed will be slower.The product specifications recommend using a power adapter of at least 20 watts.
I am using this charger in my main work area to alternatively charge my iPhone and earbuds. I have not taken it on a trip yet, but I am looking forward to using it that way because it folds up nicely in a way that should travel well. For short trips it is going to be great to be able to charge a phone and watch with a minimum of cables.
Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-A adapter and a USB-C to USB-C power cord. Not included is a power adapter or an Apple Watch charger. An Apple Watch charger will fit into the case for watch charging.

The Ridge is a minimalist, RFID blocking wallet. The main cardholder uses elastic to expand to hold up to 12 IDs and credit cards. The typical leather bifold gets packed with faded receipts and unnecessary cards, resembling something more like a suitcase than a wallet. The Ridge is minimalist without being limiting. It’s about carrying less but always having what you need.

This Ridge wallet is hands down the best wallet that I have ever used! As a lifelong wielder of a stuffed to the brim tri-fold wallet, I have long wanted to cut down on the amount of cards that I carry. I used to feel that I needed to have every card with me at all times. This is no longer necessary due to the advent of mobile pay. Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, and Zelle have diminished the need to carry multiple physical cards. I have decided to go minimalist and cut down to 3-4 cards. My daily carry now consists of my ID, 1 or 2 credit cards, and a debit card. This wallet can accommodate up to 12 cards for the occasion where I need to carry more cards. I have scanned copies of other cards such as insurance cards on my phone.
This Ridge wallet is very attractive and feels to be manufactured to extremely high standards. It feels rock solid and I have no doubt it will hold up to everyday use easily. It provides RFID shielding so the cards it carries can not be surreptitiously scanned. I am very impressed that each wallet comes with a lifetime warranty. This speaks volumes to the confidence that Ridge has in its products.
The cash strap configuration is how the wallet comes. The cash strap can be removed and the wallet can be easily converted to the money clip configuration using the included screwdriver. Also included in the box are extra screws.
I am so happy to have a slimmer, minimalist wallet. I am looking forward to carrying it in my front pocket and no longer having that uncomfortable wallet bulge while I am sitting. I love everything about this Ridge wallet. It is now my favorite wallet.

Love Arlo Cameras And Plan To Add More

This Arlo camera is a great way to add permanent audio/video surveillance coverage to any indoor area of the home. It can function as a stand alone unit, but will work even better with other Arlo cameras. I am using it with the Arlo Floodlight camera, Arlo Doorbell camera, and another Arlo indoor camera. The cameras complement each other nicely and help provide great peace of mind.
This camera is not battery powered, so it must be plugged into an electrical outlet. It can be wall mounted or placed on the included base. I did not wall mount it because I want the flexibility to move it around the house as needed.
The 2K (2560 x 1440) video quality is clear, crisp, and detailed. The 130 degree field of view (wide angle) captures all of the area that it is covering. The live two-way audio communication feature works well. But a fast upstream internet signal is necessary or there will be a significant lag..
Setup is simple and this camera does not require a hub to function. Since I already have an Arlo account all I needed to do was open the App and add a camera.
One feature that I greatly appreciate is the physical privacy shield. The shield is easily activated and deactivated in the App. When activated a physical cover blocks the camera lens so you can visually confirm that video recording is not possible.
An Arlo subscription is not required to use this camera, but is highly recommended so as to get the maximum functionality of the camera. Not having a subscription will provide only very basic cloud services. I am subscribed to the unlimited camera plan and feel that it is well worth the cost.
I am very happy with the Arlo family of cameras and plan to add more as the need arises.

Excellent Complement For My Smartphone

I have really enjoyed using and experimenting with these Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. I put them firmly in the category of devices, like a smartwatch, that surprised me by how useful and fun a device they are. They are a nice complaint to my smartphone that I didn’t realize I was missing.
First things first, they are Ray-Ban Headliner style glasses. The footprint is the tried and true Headliner design and from a distance they are nearly indistinguishable from traditional Headliners. The front facing camera lens, LED indicator, capture button, and the right-side touch panel being the main cosmetic differences.
The glasses are of premium quality construction. They are slightly heavier, but not much bulkier than traditional glasses. They are solid but comfortable to wear. Due to high-quality hinges, they open and close with noticeable authority and precision. The lenses are a polarized green tint. I like that they are dark enough to block out a high degree of sunlight, while not being so dark as needing to be taken off in lower light.
Included in the box is a classic Ray-Ban case. The case is a premium quality, hard case that is encased by a soft fabric. The case doubles as the charger, and has a USB-C port on the bottom of the case for charging. The glasses battery is rated to last 4 hours, and takes 1.25 hours to reach a full charge. The case is capable of providing up to 32 hours of charge to the glasses. The case feels heavy for a glasses case, but this is due to the internal battery.
The first step is to download the Meta View App. The App is a requirement to use, and an account is also required. I was able to use my Facebook account to login, but a separate Meta account can alternatively be used that is separate from Facebook. The App intelligently walked me through the setup and pairing process. A firmware update was needed, and took about 5 minutes. I was able to connect my smartwatch and these smart glasses to my IPhone at the same time.
The App provides a short tutorial but the glasses are very simple to use. Pressing the capture button once takes a still photo. Holding the capture button down starts a video recording. The LED indicator on the right front blinks to signal video capture. The camera lens is on the left front of the glasses and though favors a left field of view. The side touch panel is multi-function and can be used to pause or start audio, and to raise and lower volume. I found the touch panel to be responsive and work quite well.
The audio quality is adequate for basic use. The sound reaches the ears indirectly with some diffusion. The sound is audible to the user but I would describe the sound as somewhat thin. For quiet settings the sound is adequate, but I struggled to hear well in noisy environments. They can be used to answer and conduct phone calls, but I prefer to use my iPhone for this.
The 12 MP camera lens captures HD video at 4032 x 3024 resolution. I found the video quality to be excellent for still images and video. The camera in these glasses will not replace your phone, but provides unique recording options for when one's hands are occupied, like when one is riding a bike or a scooter for example.
These glasses have AI voice command capability. The voice commands are available for most functions including answering phone calls and messages, and video and still image capture. The voice command feature works well but I prefer to use the buttons and App.
I think these Ray-Ban smart glasses are a great concept! I look forward to using them and experimenting with their various applications. They are an excellent complement to a smartphone, and the potential is enormous. These glasses are smart, but just as importantly to me, is that they provide the timeless Ray-Ban look that is known and loved.

Works With MagSafe and Wireless Chargers

This is my second Insignia with Magsafe case. I used one with my iPhone 14, loved it, and wanted to use one with my new iPhone 15. It is high quality, while being affordable. This case is as protective as more expensive brands. The silicone material feels and looks and feels great and perfectly matches my iPhone 15.
The case is light and easy to handle. Even though the case is lightweight, my expensive new phone always felt adequately protected. I frequently drop my phone, so a sufficiently protective case is a must. I have complete peace of mind using it.
This case is completely compatible with both MagSafe and wireless charging. I was concerned that the embedded MagSafe insert would block Qi wireless charging, but found that to not be the case. It worked with all of the different MagSafe and wireless chargers that I tried it with. This is critical for me because I utilize numerous wireless chargers around my home and place of work.
This Insignia case is well worth the price. It provides excellent protection, while being easy to handle. The finish is attractive and perfectly matches the iPhone aesthetic.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Replaced an old SXRD Sony 60" from 8 years ago. Tried the 65" 930 model and that picture was good however not like the 940D. Full array backlighting makes a big difference. First one upon delivery had a line all along the right side of the screen and a horizontal line about 6 inches up from the bottom of the screen. Magnolia came out a few days later with a replacement and this one is much better. Remote control is not user friendly, poor design, Arc audio does not work with my 2 year old Yamaha receiver so must use separate fibre optic cable to allow audio to services. Sony 3D nothing like the Samsung. 4 free movies promotion was difficult to set up and must supply credit card info to get promo and only 8 titles to choose from. I wish they would have included the 3D glasses instead of free movies with a $6500 TV. Overall happy with the purchase and would recommend as a great home theater TV with lots of smart features.

Cable Box breaks ARC

Are you using a cable box? Cable and satellite boxes are notorious for breaking ARC. When I disconnected the cable box HDMI cable from the chain, ARC started working. I am going to get a HDMI "CEC less adapter" and connect it to the cable box which should fix the problem.

It is about as loud as any powerful vacuum. To my ear no more or no less. I do not know the exact decibel level. But my pets run and hide from it.

What is the charging setup - does it need to be charged on a wall-mounted dock or can you just plug it in anywhere with an AC adapter while it's folded over? Can the battery be removed easily and swapped, assuming they start selling batteries separately?
The battery can be charged while attached to the vacuum, either when it is folded over or upright. The battery can be removed and charged while removed. The battery is very easy to remove and attach.

No it can not. This camera does not have electrical connections for a junction box.

I want to use wireless assuming it has an internal battery you can remove, bring inside and charge then insert it back in unit? How does it work wirelessly?
The camera housing snaps out of the wall mount by pressing a button. You bring the entire unit in for charging. It is a very simple method.
