Panasonic Phones Get Better
on April 21, 2023
Posted by: KansasMeddlingMom
I think very highly of Panasonic phones and love the ability to build your system all at once or as you go. This Panasonic-KX-TGD890S is all that i thought that It should be-aesthetically pleasing, ergonomic, and performs at the highest of levels.
I have an older model and this one has more bells and whistles such as the use as a baby monitor, and of course as a blue-toothed phone to your headset so that you can answer calls without carrying the phone around. I will say that this handset easily connected to my headset without issues or problems. The pairing button is on the handset, bottom left, the default is not in the paired mode.
It is important to have the set up guide because the different functions need to be programmed in and that involves hitting the menu button prompt, then using the # button, and putting in a 3 digit code that then allows you to start the programming of that specific function, agsin through the handset.
I only got the base and 1 handset. The manual states that the handset should already be assigned to that base, but mine was not. So, i had to redo that process again so that i could then program the location of that handset, also diplayed on the handset, so you know which handset goes in which room.
A few more insights. I did try to register my older handset with this newer base and handset, but i was not successful doing that. Two, there are some system accessories that you might want to look at. I happen to live on some land and you can by an extender that would allow you to be at a greater distance from the handset, anything to be hands free.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy Setup, Very Small LCD Screen
on January 8, 2023
Posted by: KansasMeddlingMom
The Canon-Maxify Mega Tank, GX3020X, comes well packed within its box, containing 4 bottles of ink, blue, pink, yellow, and black, electrical plug-in, and a very brief, picture only, setup instructions. You need to go onto Canon's website to get the user manual and really dig for instructions.
So, i have never had a Canon printer before. I was curious how i would like Canon, great cameras for sure. First, the initial setup, after downloading the mobile app from the Google play store, was fabulous. The instructions say that it is equally usable with MAC operating systems and will print to Airprint. Setup through the app is seamless, easy peasy, and Wi-Fi connection to my older office desktop computer that utilizes the Windows 10 operating system was fast and efficient. I have no problems with any of that part of the set-up.
I am a 63 year old CPA and the small 1" x 1" LCD screen is a very real problem for me personally. I tried the copy, print, and scan features. This model does not hsve an auto doc feeder. To tell the truth, I think the next model up does and I do think that this probably is a good idea to spend the additional money for that feature.
In order to copy, the user must load paper, not in the main drawer, but the top entry portal to proceed. Again, the screen is so small that following operating directions is problematic for me.
I do not remember being prompted to download, on my computer, utility drivers and other software to scan from printer to computer, but you can use the mobile app to do scanning to your mobile phone. I did register my printer through a 'My Canon' account and used that to get these downloads in order to do several functions, i could not get scanning done from just using the tiny screen on the computer.
So. I forgot to state that it is an inkwell type of printer, not a cartridge type. Putting the fluid into the tanks is easy, but i was reading that if you move it, transport the printer back in the big plastic bag it came in and make sure that all the ink tank covers are securely fastened in order to prevent spills.
Print quality is sharp, speed is fine after 1st page out, but i can't get over the tiny screen that also cannot be tilted or adjusted to get a better viewing angle against glare, etc.

Better Than My 2020 Model
on December 6, 2022
Posted by: KansasMeddlingMom
The SmoothSkin pure fit IPL hair removal system in black is a real game changer for in home hair removal. It is comes in a very nice boxed presentation in case you want to give it as a gift. I am laughing because would that be an insult to give this to someone, I do not think so if they ask for it as a gift. At any rate, the manufacturer produces and sends with the box contents a very thorough user guide that helps one figure out how to make sure that their skin tone works with the system.
There are a couple of different ways to engage the laser light hair removal system. I personally like the button that allows for a continuous triggering of light to fry the hair follicles along the areas that you wish to remove hair from. The thing that I really like this time is that it came with an end cap that really helps target and minimize the light for smaller areas such as over the lip and facial hairs in tighter areas, plus under arm.
I want to remind people reading this review that this is hair removal is not only for ladies but also men who have unwanted hair on their backs, their chests, etc. So, this is at least a 6 week process and commitment which also requires maintenance every so many weeks as hair tries to grow back. The user must first remove hair from the areas that are to be treated by either shaving, waxing, or
tweezing. That gets the area as smooth as possible and then by doing a weekly treatment with the IPL, you gradually kill the hair follicle and thus, stop hair growth. However, those pesky follicles can come back so that is why a maintenance program is recommended. Clearly, it will not be a s much or as aggressive hair growth as in the beginning of the process, but there will be some regrowth and you tackle that as is necessary.
I definitely love this model with the new end cap that allows you to target stubborn and smaller areas.

Very Nice But Where is the Automatic Setting
on November 14, 2022
Posted by: KansasMeddlingMom
The Boneco Air Purifier P400 with Hepa and activated carbon filter in white is a very aesthetically pleasing way to package this air filter-- It is a very clean, modern, and almost stealth-like because it is virtually silent. The allergy filter was enclosed with my unit, this filter is very thick with a removable pre-filter or screen, that attaches by magnets and is cleanable either in the sink with tap water or by a vacuum. The white front panel re-attaches easily. There are also 2 additional filter types that can be bought: the baby for the nursery-diaper smells, and the smog. Also, the filter life is tracked through the app that lets you know how many days left the filter is good for. The dimensions are 22.1" high, 16.5" across, and 8.8" from front to back. Again, the description says that is appropriate to use in a room up to 600 sq feet, but then states online that it is best for either an office, bedroom, or a nursery which are usually much smaller than 600 sq ft.
There is a touch led button located at the top (front) of the unit and it can cycle from 1 to 5, with 1 being the least forceful and quietest to 5, P for power, the most forceful and loud. Therefore, the more cycle icons displayed makes the fan run faster and louder. So, when I initially set this machine up, I looked to see where the "automatic" fan control icon was located. You see, I have several other brand air purifiers located around my home and several of them have an "automatic" setting which I leave on all the time. In my opinion, that is the best setting because during a normal or average daily time period, conditions are the same and the normal air cleaning on low/silent is sufficient. However, there are times, such as when cooking occurs that smoke, smells, and/or other particulates are in the air and it would be helpful for the machine to sense a change in air conditions so that it could rev itself up to clean and neutralize those conditions and then once taken care of, go back to quieter air cleaning. However, even though I looked online in the product's description, its app, and its attached instruction booklet, I cannot find anywhere that it has an automatic setting.
Like other air cleaning and monitoring machines, there is an app for it and the installation of the machine is also done through the app. By the way, this manufacturer is a Swiss company, but I did notice that this machine is made in China--I am hoping that it was designed and engineered in Switzerland, though.
Overall, I like the looks, the ease of putting it in use, the Hepa filtration, the essential oil fragrance ability, and it quiet fan ability, but not having an automatic setting is problematic to me

When there is so much that is out of your control-pollution, asthma, allergies, wildfire, virus-you have more control than you think when it comes to indoor air quality with View Plus. View series products are: battery operated or use USB plug; wireless and WiFi-connected; work as a hub; include a customizable display; connected to an app (iOS/Android) and online dashboard with full data and reporting.

Great Piece of Very Helpful Technology
on November 13, 2022
Posted by: KansasMeddlingMom
The Airthings - View Plus Air Quality/Radon/Carbon Dioxide/Temperature/Humidity with Alexa and Google Assistant in matte white is a small package that delivers to the buyer lots of important information from the air that inhabits their home, their office, or wherever they happen to exist. It is small and compact, a little bigger that a programmable thermostat used for your heating and air systems- about 6.5" east to west, 3.5" high, and 1.25" deep. The smaller dimensions lend its use in an inconspicuous way and can be put anywhere to map your air's features without drawing attention to the unit.
Even though this unit is not cheap, I think that its benefits on providing lots of information on indoor air quality more than outweighs its costs. The reason that this drew my attention was because I have a basement and I have always wanted to assess whether there was radon gas and if there was, was it in an amount that would be harmful to life. Clearly, there is no cost one can put on the health of a member of either your home or office. I know that I do not anyone that I care about to wind up with any chronic or life-threatening disease if I can change the environment that creates those issues.
So, like many items, you download an app, in my case from the Play Store since I have an android smartphone, and use that to first install the indoor air monitor and then view the results that all the sensors are creating analysis of the air samples that are constantly being charted over a period of time for each day. The unit is powered with either 6 installed batteries or a USB cord that comes with, too. When you open the app on your phone, it lets you know what % is charged. For instance, it says that the CO2 sensor measures for this every 5 minutes, that the PM, particulate matter, sensor is mapping over a 24 hour period because there are peaks and lows depending on what is going on inside the walls. By the way, once you have the analysis of your air, you can make changes to the way things are going by buying air purifiers, changing cooking and other behaviors and ultimately remediation by professional means if necessary.

For instance, I have a large 3 level home, basement, level 1-common areas, including the kitchen, and level 2-the bedrooms. So, when my husband cooks he lets his pan heat up on the gas stove for quite a while and then throws his protein-chicken or beef into the pan and almost stir fry it on high heat. Even though he covers his pan, the CO2 and PM readings definitely go up and then drop when the smoke or whatever is being produced clears the air after a period of time. Make sure that you keep looking at your web dashboard to gain the knowledge that you need to make decisions from. By the way, thankfully I do not have a radon problem, at least not now and I am grateful for that because my home was literally built on a farm field that we needed land movers to create the pad for our construction, starting with the basement first. So, we needed to consider all the fertilizers and chemicals used here previously that could have affected the land, as well as, the fact that this is area is 100 percent clay and also previously used for a brick making plant, too.
Like I said in the beginning, I whole-heartedly believe on the purchase of this unit.

Pretty Darn Good Hair-styling Tool
on October 30, 2022
Posted by: KansasMeddlingMom
The T3 - Airbrush Duo Interchangeable Hot Air...T3 - AireBrush Duo Interchangeable Hot Air Blow Dry Brush with two attachments in white & rose gold is easy to use, looks pretty, and does mostly good stuff to your hair while drying and styling it.
I always read directions on how to use something and in this case it said to use the open end, without either the paddle or round brush to dry about 85% of your hair. I do not know how to gauge that, but clearly they do not want you to start styling with either attachment until your hair is mostly dry. So, I did that. I must say that there is nothing intimidating in the use of this too. I have hands on the smaller side and I would say that for most intents and purposes, the wand is easy to hold onto-it is wider at the base and tapers as it gets to the end that the attachments are placed into. Bottom line, I found it comfortable to grasp and use, so if someone has hand issues due to arthritis, nephropathy, or fine grasping issues that should not be a problem.
Second, it is quite easy to either attach and/or detach the head that you wish to use and that is a good thing. You do not have to have the strength of Superman to accomplish that task.
Third, this gets the job done on a timely basis. I am 63 and so I have thin to medium thick hair at this time in life with a little bit of curl. Using the paddle brush left my hair super smooth and the round brush puts a little bit of curl at the end and a bit of volume at the roots. My hair would not normally dry in this fashion. Oh, more importantly, the attachments do not get stuck in your hair and have to either be yanked or cut out of your hair. I have seen this type of machine displayed and used on some of those home shopping networks, but when you read the customer reviews on what their experiences, they oftentimes complain that the brush gets caught in their hair and they have to go through hurtful maneuvers to get it unstuck. I have never ran into this sort of thing.

Almost There
on October 28, 2022
Posted by: KansasMeddlingMom
The Ninja - Foodi 6-in-1 Countertop Indoor Grill with 4-quart Air-fryer Model EG 201 is almost there, but not quite. The unit is very attractive in stainless steel, which will match most of today's kitchen appliances This model comes well-packed with many accessories include:the ceramic-coated drop in grill grate, the air fryer ceramic-coated crisper basket, the ceramic-coated cooking pan, the splatter guard, a cleaning brush with tips that fit in the grooves, and a basket that sits within the well. Just as important, there is a full size Owner's Manual, a Quick Start Guide, and a Recipe book.
This absolutely does have a counter top profile-it easily fits below your upper cabinets and not overtake the depth of those counter tops either. I love the ease of clean up with ceramic-coated pans. I also agree that there is no smoke or foul odor when cooking that does occur when cooking on your stove, thereby affirming that their engineering of air intake, air outflow, and grease accommodation must be done correctly. However, in order not to have those smoke and smell issues, the manufacturer recommends only the use of the following oil types-canola, avocado, vegetable, grapeseed, refined coconut and not use olive oil, butter, or margarine. Additionally, another thing that must be done to limit smoke and smell is to maintain the cleanliness of the splatter shield that attaches to the top of the unit's hood.
In all function applications, it is definitely stated to preheat the unit and there is a preheat button that has a pre-programmed amount of time. Then after pre-heating is done add the food and it will cook for a pre-programmed amount of time at a pre-programmed temperature unless you manually adjust either of these factors. If you use this machine to successively cook multiple batches within the same function or use multiple consecutive times with different functions, it is recommended to wipe down the splatter shield, clean out any grease or oil in the grease collector on the back, let the unit pre-heat again and then add food. I found the Quick Start Guide invaluable because it has all sort of tips and tricks, grill function explanations and how to's, and a grilling cheat sheet that literally gives you times and temps for room temp foods, as well as, guidelines for cooking either fresh or frozen food.
While I am generally happy cooking with this model, there is one main reason that I gave this unit only 3 stars--it is because this unit does not have the ability to use a thermometer to cook your proteins to perfection based on how you want them based on internal temperature. There are models that have 2 thermometer ports so that technically you could cook steak and chicken or steak and fish, whatever you want at the same time and each of the proteins come out to perfection. I do not know which models have either one or two thermometer portals, but I would imagine that the increased price would be worth it. No matter what model you wind up with, remember to sign up for the warranty, you just never know.

Light Weight and Easy to Use
on October 18, 2022
Posted by: KansasMeddlingMom
The CRUX - Marshmello 3-qt. Digital Air Fryer Kit with TurboCrisp in night, black, is a multi function unit that while small, is very capable. It is light in weight, easy to transport from cabinet to counter top or to vacation home or camping in an RV or if you have access to electricity or a generator. The unit has a plastic top so be careful because if it falls while you might move it, that part will be damaged. The unit comes with a pull out basket, (4) silicone cupcake holders, an insert to put on the bottom to elevate food as you air fry and turbo air crisp, and a comprehensive owner's manual with use instructions and suggested cooking choice time and temp depending on the type of food item that is being cooked. In the end, I guess that the manufacturer is using plastics versus metal keep the price down and the weight light.
I love that feature. I also love that because it is so compact, it really does not take up much real estate on your counter. I am using this in my office to cook meals because I often eat at my office and while I have multi function microwaves, I like the additional features that this unit offers to cook other items. I have attached pictures that show the machine on a shelf in my back file room, neat, compact, and easy to store where it is, not bulky or hard to find a space. You could literally place this on a credenza or side table in your office if need be.
So, the LED screen does not turn on when you plug the unit in, you must press the power button, on the very right side, 1st to get it going. Then, you press the menu button, all the way on the left side, and keep pressing the menu button until you land on the icon that represents the type of cooking option advances from choice to choice, depending on what kind of cooking option you wish to engage. Each option has a preset time and temp, but you can personalize that. Again, the owner's manual has step by step instructions and diagrams that are easy to follow. Also, you can program your own preset time and temp, too. The description says that it cooks for 2-4 people, but I would say that it would be more like 1-2 if you serve good size portions. However, you could buy or use some sort of tower insert to take advantage of the vertical space within the cooking well, but it does not come with it. That way you could multi-task with a one pot meal.
What I wish? The electric cord is not very long, maybe 12 inches, give or take, and depending on where your outlet might be and the counter space where you would put this unit on could be problematic. In the end, I like this for my specific use-to cook my meals at work, especially when I spend long days at work during tax season, I am a CPA, or other crundh times around filing deadlines. This is also an affordable option to have an additional machine that can cook main meals, in my case at work, or side dishes at those family holidays a few times each year if you only have one over or even if you have double ovens and need to be cooking your fooeds simultaneously so that all that needs cooking can get done on time.

Great Machine Experience, Awful App Experience
on September 19, 2022
Posted by: KansasMeddlingMom
I received the LG - CordZero Cordless Stick Vacuum with Kompressor, model A925KSM in a huge box with lots of parts that needed to be put together. First, the construction of the actual vacuum, including the telescopic wand is no problem. Then you must put together the charging stand and thread the charging cord through the back of that said stand. That takes a little bit of nimbleness, but not too bad otherwise.
First the good. I have the stand stored in a utility-type closet that has an outlet to plug into, nice way to keep it out of the way and my area clutter-free. So, like other cordless stick vacuums, the motor assembly clicks into the telescoping wand and makes the unit top heavy and unable to stand on its own unless you lean it against something. This configuration has 2 batteries that are chargeable at the same time, so there should be no reason that you can not be able to get a nice, long vacuuming time no matter how large an area you may need to do. I am not sensitive to noise, but my husband is and he even commented on how quiet the motor was on the highest turbo level setting. I personally love the telescoping wand because it allows for comfort, no matter how short or tall the person vacuuming is. By the way, the wand must be at its shortest length when you click it on the charging stand, you will hear a tinkling sound that lets you know that you have properly attached the vacuum unit to the stand and the battery indicator on the front of the unit will have lines going up the shape of the battery.
In 2019 I got the prior model to this one, the paperwork and brochure that I received at the time called it the A9. The Kompressor is a welcome new addition. If you look at the picture I have included, it is the red push rod that helps push out the dirt and other contents of the collection bin when you open the door or flap to that container. One of my chief complaints, and there must have been many others that felt this way, was that when you opened the dust bin, the filter unit always came loose and you needed either your hands or something else to grab the dirt in the bin. Well, this has now been remedied.
Now the bad and the ugly. I was having a terrible time getting my unit to connect with the app through the WiFi, etc. I have an android phone and I downloaded the LG Thin app. You use this app to register the unit's warranty and add the device, through your WiFi, whether that be a home or office. The instructions specifically state that you cannot use either the WiFi setting, but your location's network and that also cannot be a 5G frequency, but must use a 2.4 GHZ one. I have encountered that before and have the option to set my network on that setting. The instructions also state that you should physically be near your router with the vacuum and your phone, too. While I did that, I found it ridiculous that with my strength of router plus extender on the second floor that I would have to do this. However, I tried at several different times and places to no avail to get this linked and I knew that this aspect was one of the items that LG wanted commentary on.
Good thing that the 800# is open 24/7. I called over the weekend when I had more time and ran into a terrible experience. First, they offshore you to the Philippines and my customer service person, Kristine, did not speak English like an American does. So, not only did I find it difficult to understand her, I requested that she slow down and spell some of her words because I did not understand what she was saying. I wound up asking her to let me talk several times. Usually at the beginning of a customer service troubleshoot phone call, the operator asks for various set up information, which she never did, and they also ask for the model number so they can reference instructions for that specific unit. I told her my problem and had to stop her and say that "Don't you need the model number." Bottom line, it was very obvious that she was not trained to be able to troubleshoot on this machine and certainly could not communicate with me. She gave me the phone number for the app department, not a toll free call, by the way. I spent 60 minutes on the phone with her to no resolve.
While I was waiting on the phone during the many times that she put me on hold, I though what if I delete the device and then try to add it again. I did this 5 times until it finally worked after I got off the phone. The really bad and ugly part is that I did nothing different all these times until it finally worked. I had added it the very 1st time, but it was offline and never connected. After 7-10 times of adding and deleting, it worked. As I write this review, 1 day later, the unit is still connected to the app. After trying everything I knew to do and getting the unit to connect with the app through WiFi, I put it back on the charging stand and have opened up the app, from time to time, and checked on the status, to see if it is still connected. This app uses GPS to identify where the LG item is physically located and it states the status of the machine. So, right now it states that the unit is "Fully Charged..." So, it let me know when it was charging and even sent a notification when it was fully charged. I thank goodness that all of this finally worked out, but in my case it took way too much time, energy, and effort, and when I reached out to the supposed experts at customer service, that went no where, too. By the way, when the machine is not on, you can use the Smart Diagnose button , follow it through to do a product check. In my case,, it did not detect abnormal operation, checking the suction motor, filter and whether the filter needs cleaning, the battery, and if there is any restrained spinning. It dates and time stamps the diagnosis along with general maintenance tips
The good is the machine, its operation, and cleaning tools plus replacement parts included, the bad-what is up with the app??? In conclusion, I took 1 star away from my review and even considered taking 2 away. As a consumer, you need to evaluate what is most important to you.

The Normatec Go by Hyperice delivers targeted massage for fresh legs on-the-go. Backed by the same science that powers the original Normatec system, the Normatec Go is completely portable and delivers dynamic air compression to the calf muscles to increase circulation, and reduce pain and tension in the legs.

Feeling Good and Very Helpful

The Hyperice - Normatec Go in black comes in a fancy black box, making this item not only a good purchase for the buyer, but a nice presentation for any gifting. Inside the box comes 2 wearables with attached control units, for right and left, 2 separate USB charging cables that are inserted into (1) plug-in wall unit that allows both units to charge all at once.
The units are black and simply wrap around the user's legs, between their knees and their ankles, that will administer a compression message over a selected period of time. I have very thin calves, but the self-sticking area is quite large so this is easily used by both men and women with narrow to very athletic calves. The first thing after charging the units must be to download the Hyperice app for your smartphone. I have an android so I downloaded my app from the Play Store with no problem. That app allows the user to do many things. First of all, you will have to Bluetooth your phone to the units when they are turned on. With that, I could register my unit and set up the warranty period. You can also run your treatment routines from the app, setting up the time period, the intensity, what kind of routine you want based on whether you are treating yourself as an athlete, a medical issue, or just as a wearer to refresh your calves. (See attached screenshot when I programmed my routine).
I decided to pick these out because I am 63 and walk several miles a day, in addition to being a CPA, and sitting for long hours at a time during tax season. I try to sit at my desk for as long as possible and when I have worked 16-20 hour days, I have noticed that my ankles might swell a bit due to inactivity. These Normatec-Go Wearables are very portable, light enough to carry in a tote or backpack, and transportable to either your work, as in my case, or to your work out location. These units are wearable on bare skin and in my case will massage for health reasons, but if you are a competitive athlete or endeavor to just be athletic, then your "taxed" legs will enjoy the recovery.
The units come paired, meaning that time and routine are the same in both legs. However, then can easily become unpaired, too. The control units are also the same on both units. There is a Bluetooth indicator advising you by blue light that it is connected to your phone's app, a Hyper sync pairing indicator, but it also says in words "pairing when they are doing so and "finishing cycle" towards the end of the session. Other buttons are level for pressure intensity, from 1-7, time, start/stop, and on the side off and on.
Do not fret, there is a Let's Get Started brochure that is very helpful, taking you from A to Z on how and what to do. Plus, the app can take you through the steps to set up your routine based on your physical activity and exertions. From what I could see, I believe that this company tries to be there for the user and has several ways that then can be contacted for customer support with either a toll free number, their website and there customer support email address. In my experience & opinion, when a company makes themselves that available that is a good thing, they want the customer to be successful and happy while using their product. There is no limit at how many times a day you can give yourself these healing massages
I would recommend this to a friend!
