Ok, first off...Hooded Menace is a band that reeks of doom and despair...and I love it! A step up from their last album, which lacked the total dread of the previous albums and had much shorter songs...don't get me wrong, I enjoy it, but they're back to form with Darkness Drips Forth and it does just that! The songs average at the 10 minute mark and that is just fine, as the atmosphere and utmost doom really sinks in within that time frame. Highly recommended for Doom/Death Fans...Buy or Die!
What can I say, other than that this is THE quintessential Hawkwind re-issue!!! You get a phenomenal 3 discs of 3 different recordings of this classic album, the 3rd being a surround sound version on DVD...what are you waiting for??? GET THIS!!!
The band has been in existence since 1987, with a dark, raw, dirty style of blackened death metal in the early years...but over the past 16 years or more the band has focused on creating more of an infectiously catchy thrash style Metal Of Death, bullet belts, spikes, red spandex!, denim and leather! The lyrics are in your face and as offensive (to some) as possible, while retaining a tongue in cheek aesthetic. If you want to wreck your neck headbangin' and have a good time doing it...Nunslaughter is for you!!! RIP Jim Konya ...you are sorely missed my friend.
The 3rd studio album with Roth...perhaps my fav from the band as a whole. Super memorable songs, song writing and great lead guitar work of course! Highly Recommended!
If you are unfamiliar with this album, I highly suggest you get there! Uli John Roth holds no punches this album (along with In Trance and Virgin Killer) are the holy trinity of Scorpions albums!
Aside from the hit singles on this album, it is another Kiss album that seems to be forgotten...this album, imo, doesn't have a bad song on it! A well written album, and some pretty heavy songs as well!
The success of this album was primarily the single for which it is known...but listen further folks, there are some classic Kiss songs on this album! This album is passed off as their disco album, but aside from I Was Made For Lovin' You, it is not! Lot of rockers on here too!
This album (along with Creatures of the Night and Animalize) are criminally underrated! ...Songs are very catchy and memorable and some heavy riffs ala Vinnie Vincent, who turned out to be a great fit for the band, too bad he didn't stick with Kiss for more than 2 albums.
Melding the hardcore punk beginnings of the band with a more doom laden feel akin to label mates at the time St. Vitus. Very good album! Overlooked by many imo.
