A Compact, Powerful & High Quality Laptop
on September 15, 2022
Posted by: Porsche
The XPS 13 Plus laptop is the newest 13 inch model from Dell and it is excellent. The specifications are incredible for such a small portable computer. This laptop packs a 12th Gen i7-1260P processor (up to 4.7 GHz, 12 cores), a 13.4” 3.5K OLED display, 16 GB memory and a 512GB SSD, making this a very responsive computer with a beautiful display. Thanks to the Intel Iris Xe graphics card and the OLED 3.5K display, the image is spectacularly clear and bright. I’m looking forward to bringing this on trips so that I can watch movies and play games on it while traveling.
The laptop features stereo speakers and they sound good with a noticeable stereo effect, particularly for the size. The speakers have a balanced frequency response, with plenty of bass, mid and treble.
There’s a 720p webcam above the display that works as both a camera and for face recognition. It works well for logging in with your face, it’s worked perfectly every time. The camera quality is decent.
There’s only two ports, two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C), and although I'd prefer more, I’ll allow it, especially since Dell offers a USB-C Mobile Adapter. Also keep in mind that this laptop uses one of those ports for charging, so while charging, you really only have one port available, but a lot of devices use Bluetooth these days, which might work as an alternative. Also, since there’s no 3.5mm headphone output, you’ll be using the USB-C port for that if you’re using a wired headset, meaning that if you’re charging and using a wired headset at the same time, you won’t have any available ports. The laptop does include a 3.5mm adapter and a USB-C to USB-A (3.0) adapter.
The keyboard feels nice, responsive and is backlit. The top row lights up, and uses the lights to show either F1-12 or the alternative buttons. There’s also a fingerprint reader for those who want that extra layer of security.
The touchpad works wonderfully, but there’s no visible edge, so your finger might keep going at times.
The battery life seems fine. I use it mostly for web-browsing and YouTube, and it lasted around 6 - 7 hours before it was down to roughly 25%. A charger is included, and it’s the universal type that you can use anywhere in the world. The cable is nice and long too.
I enjoy the design of the XPS 13 Plus. It’s razor thin, measuring about half an inch tall. It’s a little less than 12 inches wide and 8 inches deep, making it a perfect choice for airports, airplanes, trains and hotel rooms. Just don’t forget a wireless headset, since you probably want to have at least one port open for maybe an external drive, mouse, controller, webcam or microphone.
Especially if you’re planning on playing games on it. I tried installing Trials Rising on it, and it played fine after a few tweaks in the settings. The game prioritized resolution, while I prefer a smooth frame-rate.
My conclusion is that this is how a 13 inch laptop should be. A powerful processor mixed with a beautiful display. It is a terrific choice for those that are not just looking for a compact laptop, but also one with great specs. Dell is a trusted brand that I’ve had great experience with over the years, so I have no reason to not recommend this laptop. I hope you enjoy it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The best controller for dedicated gamers
on September 1, 2022
Posted by: Porsche
SCUF is known to be the go-to brand for improved Xbox controllers and I can’t say this is my first one, as I got my first for my Xbox One years ago. Since then I’ve upgraded to an Xbox Series X, so I figured it was time to get a new SCUF controller as well. The Instinct Pro has received some neat upgrades since my previous one, and I have to say I really think this is a definite upgrade and a well thought out controller.
If you’re used to a regular Xbox controller, the main differences are: remappable paddles on the back, a mute button, adjustable triggers, removable faceplate and thumbsticks, a grippy surface on the back, anti-friction rings, and profiles.
How does it feel in my hand? Great. The grippy surface on the back is really nice. My hands don’t sweat a lot while gaming, but I can still appreciate the improved comfort. The thumbsticks are removable and can be replaced with one short domed and one long domed. I may differ from other gamers when I say this, but I’m not a fan of a long domed thumbstick on the right side because it makes my thumb feel tired. I didn’t mind it the other way around though, with the long one on the left. It was actually very comfortable. You can also just use the regular flat ones, which is how it ships, and changing them out is really fast with the easily removable faceplate.
My first SCUF didn’t have the trigger switch, which was my fault while ordering, but I’m quite familiar with the Xbox Elite 1 and 2 controllers version of this function. I have to say that the Instinct Pro takes it to a whole new level. They call them Instant Triggers and they really are; there’s almost no movement when pushing the triggers on that setting which makes it perfect for FPS games. You can of course also use it in the regular mode, with a quick flick of a switch… well, two switches, one for each trigger. I found that to come in handy while playing certain games actually.
The remappable paddles on the back are different than the ones from my previous SCUF controller and both Elite controllers. I’m still deciding if it’s meant for one finger on each side or two, because it’s almost at a 90 degree angle, making it possible, if not more comfortable to hit both paddles with finger. I usually only use one on each side anyway, but it’s nice to have the other one at times as well. The other nice feature is that you have three different profiles for the paddles: FPS (blue), Sport (red) and Racing (green). In addition to that, you can change any button to what you want on any go the three profiles. Pretty neat and the dedicated profile button makes it very easy to do.
There’s a mute button that comes in handy while using headsets plugged into the controller, but it will not work with wireless headsets.
The controller works wirelessly, just like a regular Xbox controller, unlike most third-party controllers, but if you do prefer a cable, there’s a 6 ft USB-C cable included. Batteries are also included, and the battery lid is magnetic instead of the regular locking mechanism, making it very easy to open and close. It seems like the faceplate locks in-place in a similar fashion; no pushing and sweating necessary. Save the sweating for those Warzone lobbies.
The SCUF Instinct Pro is any FPS gamer’s dream. Instant triggers, remappable paddles and interchangeable thumbsticks make this the best controller on the market. It’s also great for racing games, if you use the regular triggers and the racing profile, which changes the paddles to the D-Pad buttons. If you spend a lot of times on your Xbox, this is a well worth investment that will take your excitement and precision to a whole new level - It’s time to level up with SCUF!

It’s compact, efficient and quieter than most!
on August 30, 2022
Posted by: Porsche
Tineco’s stick vacuum Pure One X Series is a cordless vacuum cleaner with smart features. The device is lightweight, battery powered and includes brushes for every surface, corner and floor type in your home. It has a runtime of roughly 45 mins, but this will of course depend on usage. It can run on “max” for roughly 12 mins, but I found the “auto” setting to do just fine, and I was able to clean the whole house without running out of battery on a full charge. In fact, it had more than half of the charge left.
The included brushes allow you to use the vacuum anywhere in your house. Hard floors and carpets are easy to clean with the big brushes, especially since the LED lights will light up the floor in front of the brush, and it’s lightweight enough to be used for blinds, ceilings and your car with the smaller brushes, and it’s particularly easy since it’s cordless. There’s an anti-tangle brush that prevents hair from getting caught, and as someone with long hair, I was able to test this properly and it does a great job, and the dustbin was full of hair when I was done vacuuming the carpets.
By default, it only vacuums when you push the trigger, but there is a trigger lock that keeps it on. It works fine, as long as you don’t touch it. I accidentally turned it off a few times while cleaning, so I would’ve preferred that the locking mechanism was a little stronger.
This is a smart vacuum cleaner, meaning that there’s an app that connects to the device that allows access to its features and information, including battery life, suction power (auto, manual, max) and the status of cleaning, pre-filter and dustbin. The app works fine on my Samsung S21+. I downloaded it from the Google Play store, entered my Wi-Fi info into the app and the rest was seamless. I’d say it took less than a minute or two to set up and it’s been working fine so far. My only criticism of this system is that I feel that I have to hold the vacuum with one hand and my phone in the other, but you don’t need to look at the phone the whole time and the vacuum works fine with the app closed.
There’s a HEPA filter that cleans the air while vacuuming and the filter doesn’t need to cleaned and replaced very often (every twelve months), so that’s a nice little addition.
It charges through the wall mounted dock. It takes a roughly 3 to 4 hours to fully charge the device. I wish it charged a little faster, but hopefully a slow charge will keep the battery running smoothly for many years from now.
It is recommended that you empty out the dustbin after each use and that you clean the pre-filter. I’m used to the old-fashioned vacuum bag, so I was a bit surprised at how much this little thing cleaned up in a 15 min cleaning session. The dustbin was full of dust and hair, so I’d say it did a great job. I was hoping it wouldn’t wear my wrist out as much as a full size vacuum cleaner, but it’s still a bit of a workout, just not as bad. (That’s probably a sign I need to vacuum more often!)
Also, if you register on their website, you’ll get a free pre-filter (minus shipping).
If you’re looking for a vacuum cleaner for all your vacuuming needs, this is the one for you. It’s great for everything from floors to ceilings while also being handy as a handvac to vacuum the interiors of your car.

A Stylish Toothbrush With Methodical Cleaning
on May 2, 2022
Posted by: Porsche
from Los Angeles, CA
The Sonic Toothbrush by Burst is a stylish and intelligent electric toothbrush with a four week battery life and three modes. The three modes are simple: 1, or default, is for whitening and is the strongest mode. 2, is for sensitive teeth, so a little gentler. 3, is a massage mode with a pulsating effect. I would recommend 1 for most people, although I personally prefer 2 because I have sensitive teeth. 3 is designed to let you relax with a good old fashioned teeth massage, but I wasn’t particularly fond of this mode. Maybe it’s not my thing.
It is recommended to brush your teeth for two minutes, so when the power button is pushed, the Sonic is on for two minutes. Every thirty seconds, it will pause momentarily to remind you to move on to the next quadrant. I’ve never used the thirty second method before, but it made the time go faster than just brushing my teeth chaotically with a manual toothbrush for two minutes like before.
That’s right, I’ve used a manual toothbrush my whole life, and this is my first electric. My dentist keeps recommending me to switch so here we are. An electric toothbrush is supposed to be better at keeping away plaque, so I’m looking forward to having a cleaner mouth from now on. The main difference for me, is that the Sonic Toothbrush gives you more of that dentist cleaning feeling. Afterwards, my mouth feels cleaner, although my gums will feel a tiny bit sore from the vibrations. Also, it just feels like the toothpaste was properly used, not just lingering in my mouth for a few minutes. I’ve also noticed less of a toothpaste aftertaste afterwards.
The battery life is promised to be four weeks, but I haven’t had the toothbrush long enough to know the full details on that yet, but since we’re expected to brush our teeth twice a day for two minutes, I will presume it will be pretty close to that, and when the toothbrush do need to charge, all you need is to use the included charger or plug it into any USB charger with the included cord. Quick note: the manual, which is hilariously written by the way, warns that the included charger is only good for US power (110v) but the charger itself says it’s compatible with up to 240v, so I’m not sure who to trust. If in doubt, use a regular USB charger or a USB port on your computer, which is extra convenient for travel.
The package comes with one brush, which is recommended to be replaced every three months. You can either sign up for a subscription on their website, OR buy them on the internet, e.g. Amazon, where they come in a 3 pack. They come in three different colors, just like the unit itself.
Last but not least, I want to make a big point out of saying how hilarious the manual is, or launch guide, as they call it. It’s super funny, but also very informative. Any questions you’ll have when you open the box will be answered there, with a joke thrown in, here and there. Their logo is even a smiley face, so like The Joker said, “let’s put a smile on that face!” He just left out the part about having beautiful, white teeth.
Overall, a great toothbrush that looks stylish, has three different settings, thirty second quadrant reminders and a one month battery life. Although I can’t compare it to any other electric toothbrush, it sure is a lot better than a manual, so I definitely recommend this toothbrush.

Photoshop for influencers and novices
on November 6, 2021
Posted by: Porsche
from Los Angeles, CA
I have plenty of experience with both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. I mention both because please don’t confuse the two, they’re two different programs for different audiences. Photoshop is great for professionals who want full control of every aspect of photo editing, while Photoshop Elements is a simpler version where many things are done automatically or by using templates and presets. The other thing that’s nice about Elements is that it comes with many generic, but very useful graphics and backgrounds. These come in handy when making social media posts or newsletters, and that’s really who Elements is meant for: The influencers, the Instagrammers, the Facebookers and the Twitterers. It’s very easy to make a graphic with an image, add some text and perhaps a background. There are automatic tools to improve the image, to remove objects in the image or remove the background, color correction etc., it’s all in there and easy to use.
I previously owned the 2020 version of Elements so I’m already familiar with practically every feature. I noticed that they’ve added new painting presets to make your image look like it was painted by various artists or in different styles. This seems to work decently, although many of the presets were pushy on adding red strokes. There is a setting to maintain the original colors that removes the red strokes luckily.
Although Elements lacks features that the full Photoshop has, it’s a great program for quick edits of photos and adding text and graphics. The other benefit is that it lacks the monthly subscription fee, which can be a lot for many people. Just Photoshop is more than $30 a month right now, so it’s a good deal for people that are just getting into photo editing and want something with more advanced features than the free alternatives like Paint. Photoshop Elements will get you professional results at an affordable price, and in many cases, it’s easier and less frustrating to get satisfying results. If the automatic tools don’t do the job, you might prefer the full control you get with the full Photoshop software, but for beginners, Elements is a much easier program to learn and master.
So far, I’ve found the 2022 version to be a little buggier than previous versions, but I’m sure this will be fixed soon in future updates. I experienced issues like not being able to change font size and not being able to download certain graphics because of “unknown error.” Minor stuff, the photos look great!
Photoshop Elements is the next step for anyone who wants to start learning Photoshop today without getting stuck watching YouTube tutorials all afternoon, so if that sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.

A clean face for everyone
on October 7, 2021
Posted by: Porsche
from Los Angeles, CA
The Vanity Planet Facial Cleansing System is an affordable way to keep your face clean. The unit offers two different speeds and comes with three different brush heads, charging cable and travel case. The three brush heads have different purposes. The first one is the standard brush for daily use, the second one is for exfoliating, which is recommended 1 - 3 times a week. Then there’s the silicone brush that’s recommended for sensitive skin. The unit is water resistant, so it can be used over the sink or in the shower. It charges via a USB cable, that can be connected to any USB charger or outlet. It comes with the cable and a convenient charging stand.
I’ve had this for a week, and I’ve used every brush and setting. On the first day I used the exfoliating brush, which is the most aggressive one of the three. It felt smooth on my skin, and it left my skin feeling soft and clean. I preferred using the slow setting, as the fast setting would sometimes tug my skin a little, which I didn’t like. The device felt light in my hand and it moved easily across my face.
On day two, I used the daily brush. That’s probably going to be the one I’ll use the most as it simply just cleans the skin. I used a mild cleanser with it and it did a great job. On day three, I used the silicone brush. This might be the softest and gentlest brush out of the three. I’m not sure if I prefer this one over the daily brush, but if you have sensitive skin, you might be better off using this one as a daily brush. I can also suggest alternating between the silicone and the daily brush to clean the skin slightly differently every day. Especially if you use it twice a day.
After a day my skin felt softer, after a week of regular use my skin actually looked cleaner. It’s not a huge difference, but I’m confident that with regular use, the skin on my face will look even better. I’m fortunate that I don’t normally have major problems with acne, but I do have issues with blackheads on my nose and white bumps under my eyes. A week of treatment has helped a little bit, but I got ways to go, and I believe that continued use of this facial cleansing system will contribute to making those problems go away.
I’m not sure how long this device lasts before needing a charge, but I’ve used it all week without charging since day one. I only use it for a few minutes a day, so hopefully, I will only have to charge it every couple of weeks. There’s no battery indicator, so it will be a surprise.
I suggest checking the user guide for instructions. It is recommended to find a good facial cleanser to use with this product. I used it with and without, just to see the difference, but you get the best results with one, particularly one that suits your skin.
It is recommended to replace the brushes every 2 or 3 months, so keep that in mind. I’m not sure where replacement brushes are available, as I could not find them at Best Buy nor on their website, but I might not be looking in the right place. Regular cleaning of the brushes is very important, and do not to share them with your family or friends. This device is just for you.
Overall, I recommend this facial cleansing system for anyone who’s looking for a clean face with low effort and cost. Be beautiful, feel beautiful!

A serious mouse for serious gamers
on September 28, 2021
Posted by: Porsche
from Los Angeles, CA
The Razer Basilisk V3 wired optical mouse is a terrific mouse for gamers. With 11 programmable buttons, you can not only make it work for you, but customize it for every game you play. My first recommendation is to use the Razer software called Synapse. It allows you to make adjusts to the buttons and the RGB lighting, and you can create an account or login to your existing one, to save your settings. The Synapse software is used for a lot of Razer products, so if you also have a Razer keyboard, you can use the same program to adjust both devices.
The software is also a good place to figure out what all those buttons do. In my case, my previous mice was simpler so I needed a little help. You can also use the Chroma Studio to sync the RGB colors with other lighting devices, including Philips Hue lightbulbs. Nanoleafs have been discontinued, but are still supported to some degree, at least for now, although it says July 2021.
Out of the box, the mouse was a litte too fast for me, but one of the default buttons changes the DPI, so I could quickly switch to the perfect setting. The mouse feels very responsive and accurate, and it was a pleasure playing games with it. It does a great job at non-gaming tasks too, like browsing.
I would argue that this is the most complete mouse on the market, in terms of functionality, at least for gamers. The scroll button in particular, is so much more useful than a typical one, especially since you can go sideways, but also because of alternative smart scrolling settings.
I found the Basilisk V3 to be comfortable after hours of use, which is important for extended gaming sessions. It’s wired, but as long as the cable is placed correctly, that shouldn’t be a concern, and it’s made out of a nice, soft material that doesn’t get stuck as easily as typical rubber cables. I’m glad it’s wired actually because it keeps the latency and connection in check.
Judging by the feel of the material and continued use of buttons and wheel, this thing feels like it’s built to last a long time. This was my first Razer mouse, but it doesn’t look like it will be my last. The price seems pretty fair to me, considering the quality of the product. I have no harsh criticisms for this mouse, at least not after a few days of use, so I’m giving it two thumbs up.

Amazing keyboard that does everything right
on September 28, 2021
Posted by: Porsche
from Los Angeles, CA
I’m relatively new to gaming PCs, but I’ve had many keyboards over the years. My newest PC goes in the gaming category and was my first introduction to gaming keyboards with RGB lighting. The lighting was overly bright and the keys had very loud clicks. I don’t know if that’s what gamers want, but it certainly didn’t interest me. That’s where the Razer Huntsman V2 comes in. I’ve only had this keyboard for a few days, but I can already say that I agree with the design choices.
The keys have a layer of foam that absorbs the clicking sounds in a satisfying way. I very much prefer this to the loud clicks from my other gaming keyboard. I’m also in favor of the RGB lighting on this keyboard. It’s not over-the-top, just the right amount to read the keys and get the RGB lighting effects that gamers crave. This also happens to be very customizable, thanks to the Razer Synapse software. Let’s just say that the only real limitation is your imagination, but you can either use various presets to get there quickly, or go deep into the editing of each key. If you match it with a Razer mouse, you can edit both in the same program.
The keys have a nice feel to them, and I enjoy typing on them. Thanks to optical switches, the latency is incredibly low, making every keystroke feel instantaneous. My left hand felt perfectly fine after a long gaming session with this keyboard, so I’m looking forward to using it from this point forward, as it improves my overall gaming experience and comfort. If comfort is your thing, a wrist rest is included that will allow you to rest your hand and wrist even more.
The Huntsman V2 is definitely a pricier than a typical gaming keyboard, but with that being said, it’s in the same price range as the most recommended gaming keyboards, so you get what you pay for. It’s a step above, so I believe it’s worth it.
Overall, this is a premium keyboard for someone who’s looking for a quieter and more comfortable experience, and quite honestly, you don’t even have to be a gamer to appreciate the features. A great keyboard for everyone!

If you’re a streamer, you’re probably already familiar with the Elgato Stream Deck. You might even have one! This is the MK.2 version and although it looks very similar, it does come with a few upgrades and design improvements. This is my first Stream Deck, so I’m only judging this device by its own performance and features. I did read a little about the former model on the Elgato website to get a basic idea of the differences, and it appears that the integrated USB cable was replaced with a USB-C port, and that this edition comes with a desktop stand that tilts the device to a 60 degree angle. The desktop stand has a grippy surface, so it stays nicely in place on your desktop or table.
The device itself is pretty simple to explain and understand. There are 15 customizable buttons on a black surface. The unit plugs into your computer with the included USB-C to USB 2.0 cable. That’s it.
Where it gets complicated is the programming. When I say complicated, I don’t mean it’s hard to figure out, because it’s actually very easy to get started. You start out by downloading the Stream Deck app from the Elgato website, and it will automatically connect to the device on startup. I’m glad it doesn’t force you sign in to or create an account, although you can create multiple profiles and layouts.
There are many programs and options available, so I won’t list them all, but you can do pretty much anything you would want it to do, such as changing scenes in OBS, start a game, mute your microphone, turn your camera off or change lighting. You can even set up a voice changer, but to get the full use out of it, you have to pay for a Pro license. I would generally recommend not to use a voice changer too much anyway. It gets old rather quickly, unless you get creative with it.
Programming a button is done by simply dragging-and-dropping an item from the menu on the right side. Once you drop something, you get more options. For example, when you drop an OBS scene selection, you get to select the scene and profile. You can also change the icon to many included graphics or you can design your own. You can also name the button which will show on the button display. If you don’t want to spend hours in photoshop perfecting your own graphics, using the included ones is the quickest way to get started; it doesn’t take long at all. You can also download more icons in the store.
If you’re streaming on multiple computers and would like to use the same Stream Deck, keep in mind that your presets don’t save on the device, but on the computer it’s configured on. I prefer this, because I have completely different setups on my two computers, one for music streams, one for gaming streams.
I’ve been streaming for over a year on Twitch, and I’m used to doing everything with my mouse and keyboard. Having the Stream Deck definitely makes life easier for a streamer. With 15 buttons, you can have a button for all the most important things you click on during a stream. It’s faster and more convenient than a mouse and keyboard for sure, and once you try one, you’ll start wondering how you made it without one for all this time. If you spend a lot of time streaming, don’t hesitate any longer, get yours today!

Enhanced audio and aim, at an affordable price

The Turtle Beach Recon controller for Xbox is a step in right direction for third party Xbox controllers. It’s compatible with the Xbox One, Series X/S and PC. Because it’s designed primarily with the Xbox in mind, the chat mix doesn’t work on PC, but all other functions are compatible.
So what’s different about this controller? The best features are the enhanced audio settings and the Pro-Aim focus mode. The audio presets offer four different EQ enhancements, boosting bass and treble frequencies. I preferred the first setting, which is their signature setting. You can also turn this off. In addition, there’s a Superhuman Hearing mode, that’s basically a mid-range boost, so that you hear enemy footsteps and weapon reloads better. It sounds a little boxy, so I prefer using the EQ boost. I can see myself using it in a competitive game mode, when I’m the only one left on my team and I need to hear everything. The nice thing is that it’s just a click away.
Another neat feature is the mic monitoring. I’ve always had this complaint about the regular controller, including the Elite controller. Not being able to hear myself talk makes me want to speak louder, so hearing my voice back in the headphones is wonderful. There are four volume levels, in addition to turning it off.
The controller has two mappable quick-action buttons. I typically map these to A and B, and that works nicely and it’s easy to change to any button you want. This controller also has the Pro-Aim focus mode. This is a new feature for me and I actually like it a lot. Simply explained, it slows down the aim dramatically when you push the right mappable button. It’s best to reset the button when using this feature, but you can use both at the same time if you’d like. There are four levels, but level 1 already makes a big difference. 3 and 4 practically locks the aim in place, but I’m using a medium/high setting, so you might find these useful, if you use really high aim settings.
The controller feels comfortable in my hands. The textured surfaces feel nice, although it’s an adjustment for me, since I’m used to the smooth surfaces of the first Elite controller. It’s more noticeable on the triggers, because I’m constantly pushing them in. I might prefer less texture there, because they feel just a tiny bit rough on my finger tips.
This controller requires a cable. It’s 10 feet long, so hopefully that’s enough for most people. My Xbox is pretty close to my chair, so the length is perfect. I use a cable anyway, so it doesn’t change anything for me.
I’ve used this on my Xbox One X and Windows 10 PC without any problems. I don’t have an Xbox Series X yet, but I will certainly use this controller when I get it, because it is fully compatible with it.
If you’re looking for better audio and more accurate aim for the same price as a regular controller, the Turtle Beach Recon controller is the one for you!
