Trimming without pulling, that's a guarantee!
on April 22, 2024
Posted by: Porsche
The Philips Norelco Nose Trimmer 3000 is an excellent product for nose, ear and eyebrow grooming. The swappable heads are easy to change, and the amount of options make it easy to have the right tool for the job. Use the rotary trimmer for your nose and ears, and the trimming head for your eyebrows. The trimming head has two different eyebrow guards (5 mm and 3 mm), and you can use it without, if you like to live dangerously. Also, a brush is included for proper cleaning. The device uses one AA battery (that’s included) and has a simple ON/OFF power button. The only thing missing is a case or travel bag.
The rotary trimmer does a wonderful job trimming nose hairs without pulling. Remember it’s not supposed to go deep into the nose. Trimming the hairs around the nostrils is a delight. You can also use it for trimming your earlobes and the outer part of your ear canal.
The trimming head makes trimming my eyebrows a very smooth task. I was expecting it to cut more than it did, but following the instructions in the manual, it only trimmed a few long ones, which is much preferred. I used the long guard (5 mm), because I don’t want my eyebrows too short, but there’s also a short guard (3 mm).
Cleaning the nose trimmer seems easy and if you’re looking for more specific cleaning instructions, the manual is your friend. Essentially, you’ll want to clean the trimmers after each use, but be careful about immersing the handle in water.
Philips promises a full two-year warranty from the date of purchase, if you have a defective unit, but in my opinion, the unit has the typical high quality that is associated with the Philips brand, so I’m expecting it to last a long time.
If you’re looking for a smooth trimming experience of your nose, ears and brows at an affordable price, the Philips Norelco Nose Trimmer 3000 is what you’re looking for!
I would recommend this to a friend!

THE controller for racing fans
on September 28, 2023
Posted by: Porsche
The eSwap XR Pro Controller Forza Horizon 5 Edition is the ultimate controller for fans of racing games on Xbox and PC. The ability of swapping the left thumbstick for a racing module is a game changer. My experience with racing games is that it can be challenging to drive perfectly with a thumbstick, and a full steering wheel setup takes up a lot of space in your living room. That’s where this controller is perfect. It’s very much like the controller you already have, except for the switchable modules. With the use of magnets, the T-MODS can be swapped in seconds, making this controller not only perfect for racing games, but also any other game.
The racing wheel module feels a lot like a tiny steering wheel for your thumb, and it only took me a few turns to get used it. On a rare occasion, my muscle memory would cause a few strange turns, but after a race or two, I was so comfortable that I can’t imagine playing racing games without it. I tested the controller primarily on Forza Motorsport 7 on my Xbox Series X, as it’s the game that is the most challenging of recent Forza games (understeer galore), and this controller makes the experience so much more fun.
The wheel is also beneficial for more arcadey racing games like the Forza Horizon series and The Crew series, although I find those to be far more manageable with a thumbstick. If you’re a fan of F1, but found the video games to be impossible to enjoy with a controller, look no further. This controller makes the micro adjustments at high speeds so much more accurate. That is the reason why the racing wheel module is beneficial; you can make micro-adjustments like a real steering wheel. It’s very hard to do that with a regular controller, causing a lot of weird unnatural movement. The wheel simply makes the car drive more like a real car.
The modules can be placed pretty much however you want, including both a left thumbstick and wheel, if you want to just ditch the D-pad (which does require the included screwdriver). There are also four buttons on the back, that can be configured however you like, either via the Map button on the controller or the ThrustmapperX software, which I recommend.
The ThrustmapperX software is available as an app on the Xbox and PC. It detects the controller automatically and allows you to adjust the back buttons, thumbstick sensitivity, dead zones, and trigger sensitivity. The triggers also have physical buttons for a reduced trigger length for FPS games. The controller works great on Call of Duty too. You can have two profiles, either for two different types of games or two people. You can also update the firmware with the app.
The buttons are mechanical and feel very responsive. The positioning of the back buttons takes a little bit of getting used to, but they feel comfortable to push with my ring and little finger. You can plug your headphones directly into the controller and adjust volume and mute mic with the buttons right next to the plug. You can’t adjust the balance between chat and game like on the attachment for the Xbox One controllers. The Xbox related buttons at the top feel like they’re a little higher than normal, but they’re only used every once in a while so not a real issue. In general, the controller seems a touch bigger than a regular one.
My last thought is that the controller needs to be plugged into the Xbox/PC with a cable. This seems to be the case with every third-party controller, but the only thing on my wishlist would be a wireless version of the eSwap XR Pro. I also want to point out that it uses a Micro USB cable, not USB-C. This might have to do with ensuring compatibility with Xbox One consoles, although I’m pretty confident the Xbox One supports USB-C.
With all that being said, I had a really fun time playing various Forza games with this controller. Perhaps the most fun I’ve had in a long time, and it’s getting me really hyped for the new Forza Motorsport that’s coming out in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait to start my journey with this controller.
If you’re a fan of playing racing games with a controller, this is the one for you!

For better, more beautiful skin
on September 18, 2023
Posted by: Porsche
Do you want to look like you’re a super hero, while taking care of your skin? Then this is the product for you! The Theramask by Therabody is an LED skincare mask that not only provides the benefits of LEDs to your skin, but also vibration therapy. I tested the product for a week before writing this review, but keep in mind that if you’re looking for noticeable results, you need to be patient and consistent with the product for at least 2 or 3 months.
So what is my experience with it after one week? My mask arrived fully charged so all I had to do was to adjust the straps to fit my head and face. This only took a minute maybe, and my only comment was that the mask felt a little heavy on my face. The mask is very easy to use because you have a button on the right side that starts the 9 min program, which is the intended way to use this product. Alternatively, you can use the left button for a 15 min vibration therapy, if you just want a relaxing head and face massage. You can cycle through the programs by clicking the button again. The three cycles are described in the manual.
The first time I used it, I used it as is, meaning with the eye shield. After the 9 min treatment, I noticed thin red lines where the eye shield rested on my nose, but don’t worry, they went away after 10 mins. In my case, they were right on a mosquito bite scar that I’m actually trying to heal with this device (among other things), so day 2 and forward, I used it without the eye shield. This meant of course, that I had to keep my eyes closed the entire time, which was not a problem at all. With the eye shield, you can actually open them just fine, but I cannot recommend to open them at all without the eye protector. I did not notice any problems with my vision afterwards, in case anyone is wondering. Even after a week of daily use.
On day 2, I wanted to try it while lying down, meaning that the mask was resting on my face. The mask is a little heavy, so it wasn’t the most comfortable way to perform the treatment, and it did leave slight imprints and some red spots on my skin afterwards, that went away in maybe 15 mins.
On day 3, I did it the “right” way, at least for me. Sitting in a chair, no eye shield with music playing in the background. This is the way. The LEDs make it feel like I’m at the beach, and the vibration feels like a relaxing massage, so it’s almost like a spa treatment that’s focusing on skin issues like wrinkles, fine lines and acne.
Like I said, I’ve only been using this device for a week, so I can’t say that major improvements have occurred just yet. What I like about this company is that they don’t overpromise. They know that skin improvements won’t happen overnight or in a week. They’re promising results in 2 - 3 months, and that I can buy into. LED therapy is a true and tested concept and is recommended and performed by many dermatologists all over the world, so being able to do it at the comfort of your own home is absolutely wonderful.
It’s been a week, and I have not needed to charge it yet, but it does use a regular USB-C cable (included), so you can charge it with a phone charger you already own. In terms of maintenance, TheraFace recommends to clean the device after each use. It’s very easy to clean, so I did not find this to be an inconvenience. There’s a stand included that keeps the mask in place while not in use.
Lastly, while reading the manual, I discovered a warning about using this device with skin products such as retinoids and benzoyl peroxide. I personally use Adapalene every night, and did not find it to cause any issues for me (no redness, dryness or irritation), but if you’re using something stronger, such as Tretinoin, then you might want to be more cautious, especially with the infrared light, which can be skipped by pushing the right button. The real benefit of using this device, is the combination of the different lights, so that is the best way to use it, but of course, if it causes irritation, use caution.
If you’re looking for a new way to treat your skin besides the usual sunscreen, moisturizer and retinoid, then look no further. What’s nice is that it only takes 9 mins per day, so if you do this first thing in the morning with some relaxing music or the news on in the background, it can become a wonderful addition to your daily skincare routine.

Lightning fast, incredibly compact
on August 21, 2023
Posted by: Porsche
The Crucial X10 Pro is everything I’ve been looking for in an SSD in 2023. The X10 Pro is lightning fast and surprisingly small, and as an owner of an X6, Crucial has managed to make the X10 even smaller and faster.
It’s designed to be practical, light and to take up the least amount of space possible. The included USB-C cable is short to avoid clutter in the back or on the side of your computer and supports transfer speeds of 20Gb/s.
There’s a little light that comes on when the drive is plugged in and in use. There’s also a hole for a keychain or a lanyard where the light is. The device is dust, sand and water resistant (IP55), drop proof up to 7.5 feet and designed to handle extreme temperatures; making it the perfect drive for traveling. Plus, it comes with a 5-year limited warranty.
This drive offers write speeds up to 2000 MB/s and read speeds up to 2100 MB/s, which is far greater than any external drive that I currently own (my other SSDs are between 500 and a 1000 MB/s). The reason for the upgrade was that my previous drive (from a different manufacturer) would struggle a bit with huge HD video projects in Final Cut, so my first test was to simply copy everything from the old SSD to this one. Slightly less than half a terabyte was transferred from the old one to the X10 Pro, and it took about 25 mins on my Mac Studio, both formatted to APFS. Then I opened the same project on the X10 and wow, the little stutters are gone and everything was much smoother. I could tell the difference immediately. Very impressive!
The device supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 2x2, which allows you to read and write 2TB in roughly 20 mins, if the drive is formatted to NTFS on a modern PC. The cable can be used with a USB Type-A adapter for devices that only support USB Type-A. The adapter is available separately. With USB-C, this drive is essentially compatible with every modern device you’ll want to connect it to, whether it’s a PC, Mac, Android, iPad or Linux. It ships formatted in exFAT, which makes it compatible with most devices right out of the box, but I do recommend formatting the drive to the file system that benefits you the most, for optimal speeds and stability.
I highly recommend this drive to anyone who’s looking for a fast and conveniently sized SSD that’s dust, sand and water resistant. You can’t go wrong with the Crucial X10 Pro!

A million dollar smile for a lot less!
on May 10, 2023
Posted by: Porsche
This whitening kit by Snow for sensitive teeth is using a combination of a whitening serum and an LED mouthpiece to accelerate the whitening. This is a simple two-step process. First, you apply the serum to each tooth with the wand. You have to twist the bottom of the wand to squeeze the liquid out. Then you put the (powered on) LED mouthpiece in your mouth and wait for 9 - 30 mins. 3 weeks later and voila, your teeth are as white as Michael Schumacher in an F1 press conference in 1999.
I did the 21 day challenge to see if daily treatment for three weeks would whiten my teeth noticeably, as recommended by the company itself. This kit is designed for people with sensitive teeth, and that includes me, so I decided to start easy with 15 mins and see how my teeth felt afterwards. I didn’t notice any sensitivity and decided to increase it to 20 mins on day 2. Still no sensitivity so on day 3, I upped it to 25 mins. I never did the full 30 mins, but I was pretty close on a few days at 27 or 28 mins. I only felt a slight sensitivity during the final week, and only in the first hour or so after the treatment.
When applying the serum, I noticed that it’s hard to make it look even on the tooth, but I tried my best to use the brush to even it out as much as possible. As soon as that was complete, I would put the mouthpiece in my mouth and plug it into my portable charger. I tried plugging it into my Samsung S23 Ultra, but it didn’t light up. It did work on my friend’s iPhone, though. It also worked with a regular USB charger but then you can’t move around. You could also plug it into your computer, which reminds me of the odd choice of having 4 separate, permanently connected plugs at the end of the cable, rather than detachable plugs or adapters.
The recommended amount of time with the mouthpiece is between 9 and 30 mins, but keep in mind, that once you’re over 10 mins, there will be some buildup of saliva in your mouth. I discovered that it was best to just spit some out after maybe 12 - 15 mins (also recommended by the company), and use a paper towel as a bib during the LED process, as some drooling may occur after 20+ minutes. The LED mouthpiece feels a little warm during the final minutes, but only slightly. No burning or discoloration occurred.
I didn’t notice much of a difference in the color of my teeth until maybe halfway through, but after 21 days, I can honestly say that my teeth appear to be a shade or two whiter, but not as white as I had hoped. The yellowness in the crevices was what was most noticeable reduced. The teeth look more presentable, but it’s not a night and day difference. My teeth were about a 4 or 5 on the shade guide, and now they’re about 2 or 3. My goal is of course to reach 1, so I might continue for another week and see if I get any closer. I just don’t want to overdo it, due to the potential sensitivity.
The kit includes three wands, and the first one was empty (coincidently) after 21 days, so three wands should last about 60 days (the box says 75+). It’s not recommended to use it daily for that long, so the box advertises a supply of 6 months. This includes weekly touchups, either once or twice a week. My recommendation is to do 3 or 4 weeks, then switch to once a week, since the teeth won’t stay white if you stop whitening them completely. Whitening products are best if used regularly, so you may want to consider a subscription model. I would also recommend to avoid foods and drinks that stain the teeth during the whitening process. I still drank Diet Cokes and red wine (once a week), because I wanted to see if it would matter, but it appears that if you want the best results, you need to avoid coffee, sodas, blueberries and wine for a few weeks. You can probably keep them in your diet, so long as you remember to drink water afterwards. It’s a learning process… You can also check Snow’s website for any questions you might have.
The bottom line is, having perfect, white teeth is a lifestyle. Be cautious of what you eat and drink, stay consistent with the whitening kit (follow the instructions!), and you’ll see great results!

Big fan of this bag fan!
on April 28, 2023
Posted by: Porsche
The Holmes 16” Big Breeze table fan is larger than typical table fans; making it capable of cooling down larger rooms and areas more efficiently. A fully-mounted fan is 18.5” wide and 27” tall with a 12” X 10”base, so it is better suited for big tables and other larger elevated surfaces.
It took around 10 mins to assemble the fan. Putting the pieces together is very intuitive so you won’t be lost without the manual, although I do recommend taking a quick look at it before you start. You basically just have to figure out the right order for the fan parts and then snap the “shoe” to the foot. It’s quick and simple!
The fan is very easy to use and works just like previous fans I’ve used. There are 3 speeds, and with this size, slow is effective, medium is great for a quick cooldown and high feels like an Alaskan winter. The fan has an oscillation feature that can easily be turned on or off by pulling or pushing the knob up top. Additionally, the fan can easily be adjusted vertically.
I was very fortunate to have this fan delivered the day before the first heatwave here in Southern California. I do have air conditioning in the house, but when it’s over 90 degrees outside, it’s hard to keep it cool enough inside. That just changed with this fan; because the moment I turned it on, I had it oscillating on the low setting and it was just enough to keep the room cool without feeling like I’m stuck in Miami during hurricane season.
What else is there to say than that I’m a huge fan of this huge fan! And yes, it’s the fan that’s 16”, so it’s actually 2 inches bigger than promised; usually it’s the other way around!

A must-have for vloggers
on November 25, 2022
Posted by: Porsche
The Sony ECM-G1 Vlog Microphone is the perfect addition to Sony cameras with an MI shoe, such as the ZV-1F camera. It improves the sound in a wonderful way, and makes your voice clear and professional-sounding.
The microphone does not require cables or power to run on Sony cameras with an MI shoe, which is very convenient. You can just slide it in place and start recording and you won’t have to worry about the audio being out of sync either. With other cameras, you might have to use the included 3.5mm cable to be able to record.
The mic is small and lightweight, and is designed to reduce sounds from vibration and movement, making it the perfect candidate for vloggers and content creators, who are looking for a microphone that can handle unpredictable filming environments.
The microphone comes with a big fluffy wind screen that can handle plenty of wind and plosives. It doesn’t seem to effect the sound either. In fact, it was hard for me to tell the difference while comparing the sound in a quiet environment. I recommend to always use it while filming outdoors. I wouldn’t leave home without it.
The 14.6mm mic capsule specializes in focusing on the voice directly in front of the mic with its highly directional supercardioid pickup pattern. My voice sounded very clear and essentially ready to be broadcast, which is very convenient when you’re filming videos for social media that need to be uploaded quickly and regularly.
A pouch is included for quick storage, although I would’ve preferred a small little case to keep it more protected. The microphone looks and feels sturdy, so I’m confident it can handle travel quite well.
I recommend this shotgun mic to content creators who want a professional sound while filming content for YouTube and social media. It’s also perfect for documentary-style videos and interviews. The convenient size makes it a great addition to your Sony camera.

The perfect camera for vloggers
on November 24, 2022
Posted by: Porsche
The Sony ZV-1F camera is designed with vloggers and content creators in mind. It has a fixed 20mm lens with 20 megapixels, 4K video, an intelligent autofocus and a 3” rotating screen.
This lightweight camera is great for those who are looking for an excellent picture without the fuzz of having to switch between heavy, professional lenses. The 20mm lens is great for filming yourself out and about, and the 3” screen can be flipped to the front, so that you can see yourself while filming and make necessary adjustments. The image stabilization works great while walking and moving around and the picture quality is great, even on basic/automatic settings; of course this will depend on lighting. The autofocus is smart and recognizes humans very well. There’s also a feature that focuses on products, so that you can do product review videos without worrying about your face or the product being out of focus; it works really well. The various presets allow you to create certain looks right off the bat, but I personally prefer doing this while editing, and I was a bigger fan of simply adjusting the settings of the Standard preset, but if you want to do a quick B&W or Sepia video, you certainly can and each setting is adjustable.
For photography, the camera does a great job at taking photos quick and easy at 20 megapixels. The Soft Skin Effect works well, the Low setting does it just right while High looks airbrushed/photoshopped. The Bokeh effect looks really nice. The camera sports a 1-inch sensor and a wide F2.0 aperture lens. It’s missing one thing though, a flash, and the camera doesn’t have a “hot shoe” for an external flash.
For video, the camera offers up to 4K resolution at 30 fps, or 1080p at 60 fps. Additionally, you can plug it directly into your computer and use it as a webcam at 720p / 30 fps. I wish it could output 1080p over USB, but that will require a capture card. I streamed live on Twitch for over 2 hours and the camera worked fine the whole time using the included USB cable. When plugged in for streaming, the camera is powered by USB, which is an added bonus, if you’re trying to avoid unnecessary cables.
The camera has a fixed lens, meaning no optical zoom. There’s a 4X digital zoom for photos, and a 2X zoom for videos. The zoomed in photo looks fine, but with a non-removable lens, it would be nice to have an optical zoom, but the sacrifice would be the general image quality. You can do a lot with a 20 mm wide lens though, and for vloggers, it’s pretty much perfect for on-the-go shoots with one or two people on camera.
Finally, the sound. The camera has a built-in directional 3-capsule microphone that’s great for talking, whether it’s into the camera or for an interview. A wind screen is included and does a terrific job at keeping out wind sounds and plosives, although it doesn’t look as puffed up as in the photos. Maybe I should get the hair blower… If you want a more professional sound, I would recommend getting the Sony shotgun mic (ECM-G1) that works perfectly with this camera and also comes with a wind screen.
The camera has Wi-Fi and there’s an app to connect to your smartphone, so you can set up the camera and download photos. You can’t control the camera settings from the app, which would be an awesome feature.
Sony offers a Vloggers Kit that comes with a remote that turns into a tripod, which is very convenient for both taking photos and videos while walking and for static shots like streaming or zooming. A 64GB SD Card is included, so you have everything you need to start filming.
This camera is perfect for vloggers and content creators that are looking for a camera for selfie-style videos and photos that beats any smartphone and many cameras available. It’s lightweight and practical so that you can film and transfer quickly so that the content can keep on coming.

The Code backpack by Solo is a sporty, lightweight backpack for the modern traveler. It has a sleek design with a black camouflage lining on the front. It’s designed to fit both a 17” laptop and a tablet in their own designated pockets. The tablet pocket is inside and doesn’t have its own zipper, but it can also fit a smaller laptop. I was able to fit my 13” notebook just fine.
There are plenty of smaller pockets inside in various sizes, including pen holders. The smaller pockets seem to be most compatible with flat objects such as wallets, passports and cards. In addition, there’s a back pocket perfectly sized for a passport, phone or wallet for extra discretion, and a front pocket for things you need quickly like tickets and small documents. The capacity is 24.5L, which is enough room to fit everything you need on a quick trip or a long flight, plus there are mesh pockets on each side on the outside for water bottles or snacks.
The backpack is sturdy and built out of high quality materials, giving it a premium feel. It is lightweight, weighing only 1.4 lbs, and is comfortable to wear, even when it’s fully packed. If you’re traveling with a suitcase, you can take advantage of the strap on the back that slides over a suitcase handle. There’s also a carry handle on the top, which I personally find very useful.
I highly recommend the Solo Code to anyone looking for a stylish, roomy, practical and durable backpack.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX is a terrific headset for PlayStation users, whether you have a PS4 or were able to catch a PS5 out in the jungle somewhere. I was one of them, so my review will also mention how well the 3D Audio works with this headset. Spoiler: it works great!
The Stealth 600 G2 MAX headset is comfortable, practical and adjustable. Before putting it on your head, you can adjust it on both sides. Once that’s done, all you have to do is to plug in the USB wireless transmitter into your console and turn the headset on. If you’re using it on a PlayStation or Nintendo Switch (I don’t own one), you’ll be using the PS setting. On a PC, you’ll be using the PC setting. If you own an Xbox, you need to look at the Xbox version of this headset, which is also really good.
Once connected, and the headset is on, you’re good to go. The default audio setting is great, and you have four modes to choose from: 1. Normal. 2. Extra bass. 3. Extra bass and treble. 4. Vocal boost. I prefer 1 and 2, but it’s all about preference. The vocal boost sounds like a slight mid-band frequency boost. To change this setting, all you have to do is push the Mode button once to switch to the next. You’ll hear 1 to 4 beeps, depending on the mode you’re on.
But wait, there’s more… if you press the power button while the headset is on, you can activate the Superhuman Hearing sound setting, which adds more mid frequencies and perhaps compresses the sound more so that you hear quieter sounds more easily. This will allow you to hear enemy reloads and footsteps easier. Even though it delivers on its promise, I preferred to have this mode turned off, because it sounds more “cinematic” with it off, but… if you’re a fan of turn-based game modes, you might perform better with this on, as you’ll hear “everything” the enemy does, perfect for clutch situations.
You have two volume controls. One for the game/chat and one for the mic monitoring. This is different than the Xbox version that separates the game and chat volumes. Having a dedicated mic monitor level is actually pretty neat, because this headset does block a good amount of background noise, including your voice, so it’s nice to turn yourself up a little when needed, so you’re not shouting by yourself or to your teammates.
The wireless connection is solid. The sound is clear and consistent with no dropouts, latency or audio interference. The battery can last up to 48 hours, which is twice as much as the Xbox version. The mic can be muted by being pushed back into its resting position, or actually about halfway, so if you quickly need a slurp from that Mountain Dew and a bite of those Doritos, you can do it without bothering your squad.
If you own a PS5, you can take advantage of the 3D Audio feature. Without it, it’ll sound like a regular stereo headset, but with it, it adds more depth. It’s almost like you’re really there. This depends on the game of course, but it certainly adds to the immersion. This needs to be activated and adjusted in the PS5 audio settings for optimal results.
If you’re a streamer, please keep this in mind. The PS5, just like the PS4, does not allow you to split the audio signal, meaning that you cannot use a USB headset while recording/streaming the audio from the game through HDMI. This is not Turtle Beach’s fault, but it’s essential to know that you can’t capture the game sound while using this or any other wireless headset on a PS5. I’m only pointing this out, because you can on an Xbox, and it’s super convenient. In fact, the Xbox headset I use for streaming is a Stealth 600 Gen 2.
The last thing I want to point out is… you should definitely get the MAX version of this headset, because of its compatibility with PC. The non-MAX version will only work on PlayStation and Nintendo. Whether you’re gaming on a PC or not, it doesn’t hurt to have that as a possibility.
You can’t go wrong with this headset. It’s comfortable after hours of use, sounds great and lasts a really long time. So what are you waiting for?!
