A rugged, super fast solution!

If you're anything like me you've learned that SSD is the way to go on a PC, especially when it comes to PC games. Once you've used an SSD then you will never want to go back to a regular old mechanical hard drive. So the idea of installing internal SSD drives are likely something many of you have already done, much like myself. However, there comes a time when you really need a portable SSD drive on the go and that is where the Sandisk Extreme drive comes into play.
Receiving this drive it looks a little larger than one would expect but it definitely seems very, very rugged and my guess is it would be able to withstand a good bit of playing rough by dropping it before there would be any sort of real issue. It just seems like it is a very tough case that it is in and offers me real peace of mind for taking it on the go on the occasion when I travel for work.
The drive comes already formatted and setup and ready to go. All you do is plug it in and begin using it. If you don't have a USB-C port there is an adapter included to use the old style USB-C port but realize you are losing a lot of your speed. Once you get it up and going the only real software on it is Sandisk security for encrypting the drive contents, which I chose not to use since I have nothing of a confidential nature on my drive.
Moving on to actual use: now I am no professional video game player or content creator but one thing I do like to do is play PC games and stream, albeit just so that my friends can join in to see what I'm playing. And this drive has done an amazing job in keeping up with streaming to the drive both in real time and for saving it for later use.
I've been using the drive on and off now for playing and streaming games and it seems like it's super fast, I've never noticed any slowdown in any regards and it's been reliable as ever. I think this is a great drive for gamers and professional content creators and streamers, especially for those who are on the go at times and want something really rugged that can stand up to being moved alot. I applaud Sandisk for this product and happily give it a five star rating. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Amazing gamepad with full one year warranty!
on November 18, 2020

This controller came out of nowhere for me but I'm happy it did. I had a Microsoft Elite 2 in my hands to buy but the lack of a share button and a 90 day warranty put the kibosh on that. Instead I turned toward Thrustmaster, well known for quality products in racing wheels, since the eSwap X offers a full one year warranty (this information is sort of hard to find but I did get it directly from Thrustmaster). Hoping to find not only an impressive, mappable controller but also one with longevity has been my goal. While I've loved my experience with my MS Elite 1 it has failed on me not once but twice. The first time MS replaced it but the second time they told me to buy a new one. I fixed it myself (the shoulder button was broke) for about $10 and some time watching Youtube videos.
Out of the box this controller is highly impressive. You get the real feeling it's top quality and you are getting what you paid for when you open the box. The entire idea of the controller goes beyond the Elite idea that you can swap out thumbsticks and here you can actually change out the modules and make your Xbox controller much like a PS4 controller. Its fast and easy, although moving the actual digital pad requires a small tool (no screwing or anything, just lifts it up is all, very simple) and it all stays together very well once situated. The mini-sticks are the type that screw in with a few twists instead of using magnets like the Elite controller. Note that you can also change out the grips and the triggers using a Thrustmaster kit, which I believe is $49. These come in a variety of colors and looks so you can customize the controller as you see fit which is neat.
My only complaint, or question maybe, is where are the other height of mini-joysticks at? I prefer my right stick to be a higher stick and I don't see the ability to purchase individual pieces from Thrustmaster but only the kits. It's somewhat odd that this customization is not included in the kit as I'm not sure it would have cost Thrustmaster much to match Microsoft in this sense.
Your next question is of course how well does it control? Well it controls fantastic. The entire experience is much different than the Elite or any other Xbox Controller that I have used. The buttons are shorter and click in very quickly, I am sure to ensure as fast a button press as possible (no doubt since this is a Pro controller meant to be used for competitive gaming). Some might say it's a bit more mushy than they'd like but not me, I like the feel, but it did take me an evening to get used to. The sticks are very responsive and the triggers feel a million times better and more sturdy than the ones that come on even the MS Elite controller. These may not be plastic, they feel metal, or at least metal coated.
Now the mapping, or how you choose to reassign your buttons, is very similar to the Xbox Elite controller. You download an app for the PC or the Xbox, whichever you prefer, and map out your controls and assign those to a profile. You can also import already created profiles but I didn't see any when I looked (I'm sure they will be available to download sometime in the near future). I created my own profile for The Division 2 and was up and playing very quickly. One issue of note, it does seem you need to go to the Thrustmapper software to change profiles. I tried pressing the profile buttons by themselves to switch but nothing would happen. This may be a bug though.
One note regarding the software. The PC version of Thrustmapper is easy to find on the Microsoft Store in Windows 10 (be sure to update the controller firmware first) but the Xbox software is nowhere to be found as of 11/17 on the Xbox store. The only way I could get the Thrustmapper software on the Xbox was to go back to my PC and load up the Microsoft Store, find the software, switch the system to Xbox then send it to my Xbox from there. I'm thinking this is only because the controller was just launched and it will be available in the Xbox store probably within a week so you can just find it there but this is important to know for early Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X adopters if you want to be able to remap your software.
I played not only the Division 2 but Call of Duty Cold War, FIFA and Madden using this controller and all played extremely well. Using Call of Duty and The Division 2 worked quite well using my created profile for shorter trigger pull and more sensitive mini-sticks. I never felt as if I had any lag at all from any of the games I played. I did play racing using a racing profile I created where the triggers had 0-100 variability for gas and brake and those worked incredibly well too.
Some other things to consider, the Xbox button is in a slightly difference place but this controller *DOES* have a share button for you Xbox Series S/X people, which is very great news indeed for those of us who like to share screenshots and videos. Lastly note that this is a wired controller only, but the cord is flexible, braided and very long so you will not have any issues if you don't mind there being a cord there. I really love this controller and plan to be using it for a long time, both on my new Xbox and my old Xboxes. I also plan to game on the PC using it as well, which means I'm going to look for a slightly shorter cord there if Thrustmaster offers it.
If you've been looking for a top notch, high quality, elite type controller, but one that has the share button *AND* has a full one year warranty unlike all the other players in the big league gamepad game, then this is the controller for you. Despite this being a wired controller, the mini-sticks not being available in a different height and the issues I spoke of surrounding the software I have to award this controller the coveted 5 out of 5 stars because it just does not get any better than this for high end controllers; take heed Microsoft! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Easy setup, crystal clear pic and overall great!

Over the years I've accumulated a bunch of different cameras, all intended for, and used by me, as security. But this is really the first camera system I've had with an integrated hub and it's really nice. Getting this thing unboxed and setup was amazingly easy, I'd say I had it up and running within about 15 minutes of taking it out of the box. It's very simple and the on-screen guide easily walks you through all of it. I must admit, although I'm a tech nerd I was a little wondering if this was going to be a bear to setup and was pleasantly surprised.
Mounting the camera was very easy and took me, a man who is as clumsy as they come, about 5 minutes for each camera mount. It comes with a bunch of install stuff to install with but I basically just used 3 screws, then screwed the thingamajig on, then popped the camera ona nd voila! done... Using it is also very easy. The Lorex (I keep wanting to call it Lorax LOL) is as simple as saying "Lorex show me the front door" and it wakes up and goes to the front door camera on your screen. There was a time or two where it didn't hear me but for the most part it's very cooperative and fast. The camera uses 5Ghz and for that I was also a little concerned as the range on 5Ghz can be short but again, no problems at all there.
About the only con I can think of is despite recognizing a kid on a bicycle a ways away (pretty surprised at that) on the edge of the camera zone it failed to recognize my foster teen daughter going out the door this morning at 6:45am. It caught my other foster teen at 6:48am in full and recorded the clip but the first child it missed altogether which is a bit puzzling. Hopefully just a glitch. Overall though I'm very impressed with this camera set as it's hub is really nice, very very easy setup and excellent monitoring. Combine that with no monthly fees and I have to say: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Killer all in one unit!

It has been a long, long time since I got a new microwave oven but my wife and I decided that our rusted up, but still working, tiny microwave that came with our home that we bought five years ago was due for a replacement. Enter this new Panasonic Microwave. We liked the idea that it did far more than just microwave things plus it was a very large microwave as well (but not crazy large either). Granted, this one would not be mounted under our cabinet as the older, smaller one was but that's ok as we weren't using the space underneath the microwave anyways (and I'll bet many people aren't either).
Receiving this in a huge box it was a bit of a relief to see that it's a medium sized microwave. The look of the unit is very high-tech and very impressive. Unboxing it was easy. The instructions were extensive and also came with a fairly large book of recipes and tips which was refreshing. I do plan on taking advantage of many of those recipes I might add. Setting up the microwave was as simple as plugging it into the wall and setting the clock, which was similar to how you set up any digital clock now a days.
Using it for the first time was quite simple. First hit microwave button and then turn the knob to your desired time. The knob that allows you to pick how long to cook your meal is fantastic as you can easily select 30 seconds or twist if faster to get 30 minutes. Pretty impressive. Cooking with this thing was pretty impressive and I like how it shows the max wattage (1000W) as most microwave meals will go by wattage. You may also select less wattage as well (for example 800W).
Moving on to trying the air fryer and boiler and both worked well, although the air fryer took longer to cook bacon (about 11 minutes versus 7 minutes) than in my Ninja XL Air Fryer. I suppose that's largerly because the microwave isn't as small of a space. However, the broiler worked quite well to toast things on top akin to what my usual toaster oven does. I have not yet had an occasion to try the inversion oven. The microwave is really sharp looking but on the downside you will see some fingerprints that will accummulate on the door of the microwave as well as on the buttons as you press them. They are not hugely noticeable but you will notice them if you look closely. They are very easy to wipe down, ditto for the interior.
All in all we are both very happy with this unit and it really does do it all. Very happy to get this prior to Thanksgiving so it can lend us a good bit of help with the big meal we plan to undertake. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Very nice bulbs, a great value
on October 1, 2020
Posted by: Shaunh20
from Marysville, OH
These bulbs are very nice and they're very easy to get the app working and setup. Tip: download the app BEFORE you plug them in. Once you plug them in they start blinking and you only have so long to sync. If you miss the window you have to turn on and off five times and it's sort of hit or miss if you can do it. Anyways, download the app before you start screwing in the bulb and you'll be fine.
These bulbs are very easy to manipulate individually using the app and it's very intuitive but there is no way to setup a method to control all the bulbs using the exact same light, brightness, etc which is sort of disappointing. Indirectly you can set up a command using one button push mechanics but that's not quite the same and does take a little time.
Also, the bulbs claim to be compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant and while Google Assistant picked them right up I've spent an indordinate amount of time trying to get Alexa to recognize them but Alexa will not and unfortunately I use Alexa most everywhere in my house.
So aside from those complaints I would recommend these bulbs as very nice and programmable. They also are really, REALLY bright, when using white, as in tremendously bright. RECOMMENDED.

One smart iRobot!! I RECOMMEND!!
on September 22, 2020
Posted by: Shaunh20
from Marysville, OH
We've tried robot vacuums on and off since 20 years or so ago when they first hit the market and boy have they came a long way since those days. The new iRobot Roomba i3+ is an amazing little product that does a fantastic job of cleaning and, very importantly, mapping out the space where it is supposed to clean without getting hung up on things and calling for help (something previous iRobots have tended to do from my experience). Unpacking and setting this up was a breeze and except for one snafu, that was user error I might add, it was very quick to setup the app as well. The snafu I speak of is the iRobot has 3 buttons on it to hit and you're supposed to hit 2 in combination to get it to go online and me, like a big dummy, kept hitting the wrong two. So pay attention the actual buttons and you'll do just fine, something I discovered after some frustration.
The actual robot moves swiftly and with determination, hitting a real recognizable pattern, unlike past robotic vacuums and does a good job of coverage. It does not seem to waste as much effort as some past models and completed our first sweeping session in about 2 hours, which I thought was pretty good. It also was very good at not getting tangled up on some floor rugs which past robotic vacuums have had trouble with and was excellent in how it went back to its station a time or two, emptied the vacuum, charged itself some more and resumed the job. I was very impressed with this little guy and put him on a twice a week schedule. Now that he has been running for a solid week I can say our carpets are cleaner than ever. And yes we do have two cats that shed a lot so this is impressive.
Be aware this does use a bag unlike some modern vacuums so you will have to buy bags for it but other than that the only other con is possibly the noise. There is a more quiet option, which I did not test, but the vacuum can sometimes sound somewhat loud as it has great suction, especially when its docking. My wife compared it to a plane taking off! So yeah maybe something to run when you are away and not something to run when you're trying to sleep if you're a light sleeper.
I give this vacuum very high marks, it's fast to get up and running, it's thorough and vacuums up everything very well and it does seem to be the smartest robotic vacuum I've ever seen in regards to not getting stuck, doing its job and getting it done right. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VACUUM!

Great blender, EASY TO CLEAN!!!!!!!!
on September 16, 2020
Posted by: Shaunh20
from Marysville, OH
This is a great little blender to make smoothies for on the go or at home. The one reason I quit making smoothies and drinks of that nature is cleaning the blender out. Well on this little device the blades actually come away from the drink cup by unscrewing so it makes cleaning it an absolute breeze. Plus the way this thing works it can be used super fast to make a smoothie when you want to hit the road. Not it's got some power but you do have to cut up fruits and veggies before using it and any ice will have to be small (or smallish) chips in order for it to work. It's not a powerful blender so just be aware of that and you will be good.
The fact this thing works so well and is so easy to clean means I'm going to be a little healthier from here on out with making smoothies once again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I LOVE THIS WHEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on September 1, 2020
Posted by: Shaunh20
from Marysville, OH
I've been wanting a good racing wheel for my PC and Xbox One for a long time as I haven't had one since the Xbox 360 days. When the Logitech G923 first arrived I was amazed how much smaller the box was. I was a little concerned in fact but after opening it all up everything was there and it was just packed tighter. Setting it up was easy, comparatively to actually setting up the racing stand anyways. I had it all mounted and ready to go in about 20 minutes. Note that the USB cable is fairly long, about 6 feet I think, but I had to get an extender because it was too tight of a stretch for me so may want to consider picking one of those up if you're not right by your PC. I installed the G Hub software from Logitech and the wheel was recognized after a fast reboot.
Getting it up and running with Grid on the PC was a breeze, I had to do absolutely nothing other than go into the game and start racing. Same for Forza Horizon 4 on the PC. However Forza Motosport 7 wouldn't, and still does not, recognize the wheel. Other than that though other games like Wreckfest did recognize it without issue. Assetto Corsa Competizione recognized everything except the acceleration but one quick button assignment fixed that. The force feedback Trueforce style is really pretty amazing in Grid (one of the few games that work with it right now) and is definitely one step closer to feeling you are truly controlling a car. Otherwise the force feedback in regular games is really good and strong on the PC.
Moving over to the Xbox One again Grid recognized the wheel right away but several of us using it had problems with oversteer and had to mess around with the settings to get it more manageable. We all agreed the control was better on the PC. Playing Forza Horizons 4 on the Xbox One was ok but again Forza Motorsport 7 didn't like the wheel. There seems to be something about that game that doesn't like the wheel. I even tried other wheels that are similiar such as G920 and G29 to no avail. I'm not going to worry about it too much as a new Forza Motorsport game is coming soon anyways but be aware. I will say others have gotten it working so not sure why it won't work for me.
The actual wheel and pedals are very high quality, the wheel feels like a real racing wheel and like I said the force feedback is strong and precise. The pedals are a really good, strong base. I cannot say how they work on carpet as mine are mounted on a racing stand (which I would highly recommend).
All in all, my foster child and all of my friends couldn't get enough of playing with this wheel. I do wish we had a shifter we could buy for it but it's not out yet (and the G920 shifter does NOT work per an email from Logitech..) I had to practically tear them away from the wheel so that I could race and I think that says it all. I know a lot of folks have strong opinions on wheels for their system but I waste no time here in saying this wheel is amazing and I'd highly recommend it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND A+ !!!!!!!

A unique, very loud and clear speaker!
on August 6, 2020
Posted by: Shaunh20
from Marysville, OH
Bluetooth speakers are so plentiful in the market that you really have to have something different I think to set it apart. The unique look of this Marshall Emberton is what got me interested in this speaker as it eschews the traditional round shape and gaudy colors of many of the market leaders in bluetooth speakers. This one looks classy and really cool and with the name Marshall behind it you would think it sounds pretty darned good as well. I'm happy to report that is the case for the Marshall Emberton.
The Marshall Emberton is about as unpretentious as speakers get, with a very simple setup that allows you to get to using it without any hassle at all. Setup is as simple as charging it, turning the speaker on and then going to the bluetooth settings of your phone or tablet and linking it up. That's it - there are no apps or anything to download. My first music I tested this with was some Black Label Society and then some Judas Priest and the sound was amazing, even at high volumes there was no distortion at all. My only slight concern was the bass was a little outclassed by the mids and highs so I wondered if rap and hip-hop would struggle at all. My next test was some classic hip-hop and of course I played some 2Pac to which I was relieved to hear the bass kick in and absolutely no distortion whatosever. I continued to try all different types of music and found that everything sounded very clear and very good no matter whether I played it at low, mid or high volume.
Now this speaker is really loud, no doubt about it, but it's not going to blow your mind either. But for it's weight and size it can really fill a decent room. This speaker will be an excellent speaker for us to use on the porch to have some drinks and other areas and with it's small size and long run time on a charge I think it'll likely be my go to speaker going forward. I'd recommend this without hesitation!

A fantastic mini solution for gamers & everyone!
on July 27, 2020
Posted by: Shaunh20
from Marysville, OH
One of the issues many of us gamers, especially those of us with multiple computers, have is that desk space is limited. Personally I run three computers on a v-shaped desk and desk space is pretty limited. So when I saw the new Razer Huntsman, a keyboard that is a high-quality and premium keyboard, but one that is about 60% of the size of a regular keyboard I knew that I wanted to give it a try. The fact that it had really cool RGB lighting was just the icing on the proverbial cake.
Taking the keyboard out of the case is really an experience because you don't really realize just how much smaller it is going to be until you open the small box and see it for yourself. It's amazing in both looks and size to look at. The next thing you notice is the quality braided wiring that it comes with. Replacing my old Logitech G800 keyboard was going to free up a lot more desk space than even I had realized. Of course setting it up was a breeze, I mean you basically plug it in. The RGB lighting defaults to rainbow cycling of colors and although I suppose there is likely Razer software you could install to change the lighting yourself I did not do so as I didn't feel the need to change the lighting on my secondary computer (I spend way too much time changing the lighting on my current computer!)
Typing on the keyboard did not take long at all to get used to. As a touch typist the F and J keys are marked and I was able to quickly and proficiently type very quickly immediately on this keyboard. It also had a real good click feel in relation to gaming, so you know exactly when you press the keyboard, which is, at least in my opinion, mandatory for a gaming keyboard to have. I was able to use the WASD setup to play several games without any issue and I felt almost as if I was using my regular Corsair Strafe RGB keyboard until of course I looked down and saw the actual small keyboard.
I think this is a great keyboard for gamers, but also anyone that wants to reclaim desk space and do so only with a high quality click-key keyboard that they will not miss a beat using in a game but also be able to use to type an email for work on. I'd highly recommend this keyboard for all you lan gamers out there as well since it's so small and so light but yet it is corded so you will not have any issue at all with lag. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Unleash the power of the Samsung 980 PRO with Heatsink for next-level computing. With a PCIe® 4.0 NVMe™ interface, get up to 2x the data transfer rate of PCIe® 3.0¹ while remaining compatible with PCIe® 3.0. ¹Results are based on a comparison with Samsung PCIe® 3.0 NVMe SSDs and SATA SSDs.

Anyone know if the heatsink is easily removable in case I want to use it in a gaming laptop? I am not sure this will fit my laptop 2nd bay, Asus ROG m16 SSD slot. Thanks!

I don't imagine it would be that difficult to remove, however, I have read that in doing so you will invalidate your warranty. I'd look for a similar drive without a heatsink.

Is this product has app that can be accessed from cell phone? All I want is to have a control from my cell phone when to allow the kids to access internet or to limit their game time. Such as if I can set a certain time limit for the specific game.

Yes you have an app to control the device on your phone. You cannot set a time limit for a certain game on Xbox but you can set a time limit for the Xbox.
