Some might be put off by the lack of werewolf action in Wolfen, but stick with it since this delves into territory seldom seen in lycanthropy. With Native American lore coming into play, this mystery is there to solve by Albert Finney and his journey might intrigue viewers looking for something different...'80s style that is. The blu-ray from Warner is assembly line quality but it is much better than any previous release.
Few so-called 'blaxploitation' movies come close to equaling the sheer bombasity and slick veneer that Issac Hayes does portraying Truck Turner. Filled with lewd behavior, potty mouth (courtesy of Star Trek's Nichelle Nicols), a great villain (Yaphet Kotto) and cameo's galore (Scatman Crothers) this movie rocks...oh I forgot to mention Hayes funky and catchy score..so good Quentin Tarantino used some of it in Kill Bill Vol.1. Amazing movie with a great blu-ray release...highly recommended!
This is arguably the best screen adaptation of Ed Gein's infamous crimes (liberties taken of course). Roberts Blossom gives a knockout performance as Ezra Cobb...a man twisted beyond belief by the passing of his mother. This definitive release includes a pristine print of the UNCUT version with a slew of extras sure to please die-hard fans. For those looking for serial killer cinema from the '70s look no further...this one is for you!
After a long absence FNM is back better than ever!

The sub-genre of women in prison was all but washed up by the end of the 80's but that didn't stop filmmakers from milking every last ounce. Erik Estrada is top billed but he's a secondary character. A girl from a small town decides to go to L.A. to be a movie star. She makes bad choices and ends up in a secret prison (not even the cops know about it). Her sister comes looking for her and winds up behind bars as well. With a karate expert in tow will the girls escape or wind up as prisoners for the rest of their life?
Lee Van Cleef and Franco Nero are cinematic gold...especially when tackling the Italian version(s) of American Western lore (a.k.a. spaghetti westerns). Keoma is one of the best, with Nero as a half-breed who finally takes matters into his own hands. The Grand Duel stars Lee Van Cleef as Sheriff Clayton which is really all you need to know. Van Cleef will forever be in the shadow of Clint Eastwood when it comes to Westerns, but films like this will hopefully sway fans to realize he was just as good, if not better. This is a great double feature at a bargain price...what are you waiting for?
Transformed into a vampire by Dracula himself, Blacula runs rampant in this pair of classic Blaxploitation flicks from the 1970s. William Marshall stars as the titular monster in Blacula and Scream, Blacula, Scream.
Easily two of the best Dracula themed vampire movies ever to hit cinema screens, these two early '70s classics can be fully enjoyed thanks to Scream Factory's double feature blu-ray. William Marshall took the title character and made him his own with riveting performances that solidify his role as one of the greatest bloodsuckers you'll ever see. Some sly humor and performances by the likes of Elisha Cook Jr. and Pam Grier add to the fun. Highly recommended.
While New Year's Evil isn't the greatest early '80s slasher film ever made, it's enjoyable none the less. The killer is revealed early on but their identity is kept a secret...and once the reveal happens it sure is a doozy! There's great special features on the Scream Factory disc that will please fans as well as commentary and trailers. Another stellar product for horror fans who dig the old classics (and not-so-classics).
Larry Cohen's tale of people possessed by 'God" telling them to kill might look to be controversial on paper...and frankly it is...but there's more than meets the eye as the police try to unravel the mystery before more citizens of New York fall under the 'evil' spell. Packed with bonus features and a stellar print, this is a movie for fans looking for a cult movie fix!
