I tend to 'over buy' on my storage cards. In this case I chose the Extreme PRO discs because they write extremely fast! 90/MB/s with a read speed of 95 MB/s. This means they are great for video. But I tend to take a lot of fast action or bracketed photos so I want the write speed to be fast. If I take a video here or there then I know I won't have an issue. I chose a smaller storage capacity (I got the 64GB) because you never want to max out a card and then something happen to that card and you've lost all of your shots. I will be traveling abroad for a month and plan to have a minimum of a card a day so will be able to keep a diary of sorts just through my cards (that will match up with my travel journal.
SanDisk always puts out a great and dependable product.

Since the plot is so well-known, I'll touch on details and minutiae that made this film more meaningful for me. Like many, many others, I loved the original animated version, but, still, it IS a cartoon. The difference in the empathy and emotion drawn forth by having human actors is amazing. I FELT Kevin Kline's aching sense of loss for his beloved dead wife; Belle's impatience at the constricts of living in a provincial village; Gaston's insufferable self-love, the Beast's anguish at the predicament that he KNOWS is of his own making, the castle's inhabitants grief and regret at not having helped the prince be a better person..
The settings recalled the real darkness of the original French fairy tale. The prince is a prisoner of his own arrogance, selfishness and anger, and the intricacies of the Beast's cursed castle show that so well, metaphorically: everything is entangled and entwined with sharp, brittle branches and dark, dark, dark. The scenes where Belle and he begin to interact to get to know each other become well-lit and brighter, as if the Beast is slowly letting go of his own destructive tendencies. The mob scene is truly horrifying, as I could feel the hatred that Gaston is whipping up, and the villagers so quickly fall for. The obvious "lessons" are here as well: appearances are not all there is to a person as well as (sorry, Lloyd Weber fans) love changes everything.
The humor is still here, as is the wonderful score of the original. But the score is so much more lush and full, and the three new numbers enhance both the plot and the character development very well. The opening prologue shows in just a few minutes how shallow and self-satisfied the prince is. "How Do You Hold a Memory" is so achingly sad (and I'll be some imagineer at Disney had a fabulous time making the clock that Belle's father is working on). "Days in the Sun" could be about any regret of not grabbing every chance you can to learn about and/or live life as fully as your circumstances allow. And what can be said about "Evermore"? As many versions of this fairy tale as I've read and/or seen, nothing else captures the agony of the Beast's finally finding love and realizing that, for his beloved's happiness, he must give her up, knowing full well what that will mean to and for him. Yup, I cried.
"Beauty and the Beast" has always been for me, the quintessential romantic fairy tale. This rendition captures all the romance, pain, love, and self-sacrifice that the best fairy and folk tales offer in explanation of the human condition.
A couple of small details: Belle's favorite book is "Romeo and Juliet," a play written in the 1600s, and the fact that her mother dies some twenty years before of plague (probably the Black Death), which they assert happened in the mid 1300s. I have just finished listening to a set of lectures on the Black Death (available from The Great Courses), and that outbreak was neither the first nor the last outbreak of the plague. The plague (of which there were three variations) returned many times through out the centuries. Cases still appear today, in the US as well as other parts of the world.There are antibiotics now to stop it, but the symptoms are so little known/recognized and the disease so fast-acting that those who contract it often die before a correct diagnosis is made.
The library in the town is not well stocked with books. Historically, it wouldn't necessarily be: even though printing had been around for a century or so, books were still nowhere as readily available as they are today. As well, not many people in that town would be literate nor interested. Remember that Belle was harassed for teaching another little girl to read.

This movie is as good as I remember it from my own childhood, however this movie was purchased for a younger member of the family who was not so lucky go have grown up before digital things and awesome movie effects and wanted to slum it, with a back in the day kind of film. This movie met all of her expectations and a whole new generation has gotten to cry and be angry after watching Bambi loose his mother. Great movie though seriously!

This engaging comedy may be an action-adventure, but it's also a love story between Harry Tasker Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Helen Jamie Lee Curtis. True Lies incorporates spectacular special effects along with comedy and romance, and it's a winning combination. Sidekick Tom Arnold is just smart-mouthed enough to keep Harry in line and under cover. Director James Cameron has worked with Schwarzenegger in many films, and they all have a familiar feel to them. Bill Paxton as the sleazy used car salesman is also a Cameron regular and perfect for the part. A Fox release in anamorphic widescreen, the True Lies DVD includes a Dolby 5.1 Surround audio track in English and French, as well as subtitles in English and Spanish. The sound and picture are both excellent. The biggest disappointment with this DVD is the lack of special features. The only bonus footage is the original theatrical trailer. There are no bios, documentaries, or even outtakes in this release, and the absence is especially lacking in comparison to other releases that include so much extra footage. True Lies is an excellent film, but the lack of special features is a detriment to the DVD.

Classic cheesy action movie, but with a strong female co-lead and a great family dynamic. This is one I come back to over and over again because of the humour, the strong character played by Jamie Lee Curtis, and the amusing interplay between her character and that of Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is the story of a secret agent, his wife's discovery of his role, and the clash when his work life and his home life collide. Arnold's character is solid, but doesn't really change much throughout the movie. However, it is a joy to watch Jamie Lee Curtis' character blossom from a woman flirting with danger because she is bored with her home life and her work life, to a strong asset in her own right. She stands up for herself throughout, and I always love watching her character.

Ever since I was a kid, Disney has never failed to amaze with their films. The animation is always brilliant. The stories are always moving. And, it's a musical, the songs are always ingenious. And now, they have created their best Disney Princess film ever: "Moana"! This film follows Disney's very first Polynesian princess (technically, not a princess though. Although, apparently, "if you wear a dress and you have an animal sidekick, you're a princess. ), voiced beautifully by newcomer Auli'i Cravalho, who teams up with the larger-than-life demigod Maui, voiced by the larger-than-life Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, to resolve the mysterious rift between man and nature and revive the ancient art of way finding. Along the way, she also seeks the one thing she has sought out her whole life: her identity.
Like how Maui could go on and on explaining every natural phenomenon, I could go on and on explaining how this film is nothing less than PERFECT. The story is incredibly moving and thought-provoking. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina, and Opetaia Foa'i team up to bring us a soundtrack that deserves at least 10 Oscars. The cast is not only brilliantly assembled; most of them come from Polynesian roots (Auli'i Cravalho is a native Hawaiian, Dwayne Johnson's ancestors are Samoan, Temuera Morrison hails from New Zealand); in fact, the only cast member who is not Polynesian is Alan Tudyk, but only because he voices Hei Hei the rooster. The animation and character design is some of the finest I have ever seen in a Disney computer-animated film. Honestly, if I went any more into detail about how this film is my absolute favorite, we'd be here all day. So, in short, Disney's 56th animated movie is an instant classic and will no doubt go down in history. This film is a must-see for all Disney fans, young and old. It's yet another brilliantly gleaming gem in the Disney Animation canon!

Definitely not your regular chick flick, but quite possibly one of the best Nicholas Sparks movies next to the Best of Me. I watched this movie with my husband when it came on the TV and we immediately got sucked in. By the end of the movie he was balling! We were both crying! It's very intense at some points but that is what keeps in so interesting and addicting. Absolutely 100% recommend this movie! Definitely for ages 15 and older unless you skip the bedroom scene cause other than that its perfect for teenage girls. Quite possibly my favorite Nicholas Sparks movie. I recommend to just go ahead a buy it. you won't regret it!

I grew up with the original Star Wars trilogy (episodes IV, V, and IV), so I can be a bit particular when it comes to good sci-fi. Other than a somewhat decent storyline, good special effects, and nostalgia the prequel trilogies (episodes I, II, and III) were barely worth my time. Due to the prequel trilogy's awfulness, I did not have high hopes for this movie. That was fortunate, as I could sit in the theater like a little kid again with my jaw in my lap. This was a fantastic continuation of the story first brought to us in 1976. All of the sad portions, the happy portions, the funny portions, and all of the goose bump inspiringly awesome portions add up to a great film. I would imagine this is even great if you are not a Star Wars fan from before; probably on purpose as this is the way to introduce the story of Star Wars to a new generation. That said, it was still fantastic for all of us old-school nerds.

I DO (love this comedy)...

If you have just survived another tough week at the office and are looking for a weekend pick me up, "The Proposal" is your sure bet. Yes, I laughed outloud often, and so did most of the audience. The comment frequently heard as the credits rolled was: "Ooohhh, that was sooo goooood!".
The story: a tough lady-boss (Bullock) is being deported to Canada for willful non-compliance with the US immigration department. To save herself, she directs her doormat of an assistant (Reynolds) to marry her. He reluctantly agrees to play along, after she "helps" him understand the virtues of being employed. If you think you know where this story is going... well, you are right. The "happily ever after" cannot be avoided. 'Tis a comedy after all...What is fresh is how skillfully the writers and the director allow the story to veer away from the "happily ever after" course, keeping us on the edge of our seats until the satisfying end, which we have known all along was bound to arrive.
The chemistry between the two leads is another pleasant surprise. I am not a particular fan of either Bullock or Reynolds. Though each smoking hot and talented, neither has made many inspired project choices. However, the roles here suit the pair's natural acting styles reasonably well, which in turn further enhances the believability of their characters. The look of constipated doom on Reynold's face, as he's being informed he's engaged, is side-splitting! I do regret Bullock does not play "mean" better; the intended juxtaposition of her supposedly tough as nails character against her overly compliant secretary is lost at times. We are TOLD she is a witchy boss, and yet she comes accross nothing more then efficient (Sandra: call me! I'll give you some pointers. In return you can teach me how to find a secretary as hot as Reynolds ;0) ).
Another gem in this comedy is Ms Betty White (of "The Golden Girls" fame), an octogenarian in real life as well as playing one in "The Proposal". She has made an art of delivering "campy" with emotional intelligence. She does not dissapoint here either.
Final verdict? Will this film change the course of modern cinematography?
Not a fat chance!
Did it chase my blah's away until Monday morning?
