I don't come to bury Thin Lizzy, but to praise Black Star Riders! This was supposed to be the next Thin Lizzy album and it sounds like it, but Thin Lizzy without Phil Lynott is not Lizzy! However, this is not a bad thing, if you like Thin Lizzy this album is for you. The songs are melodic...the songs rock...hats off to Scott Gorham and his band of rock veterans for this great collection of songs! My advice: let Thin Lizzy rest in peace and continue on as Black Star Riders...don't let this be a one-and-done. Let's have more BSR!!

What's great about it: Quite simply...the songs!!!
What's not so great: DVD making-of suffers from bad sound...a shame but not fatal, parts are actually very interesting.

A mission to recover the stolen art of Europe and return the pieces to the proper owners...a treasure hunt worth undertaking. The versatile cast keep the movie going forward...a light moment here, a close call there, a triumph here, a tragedy there, even hints at the darkness of WWII...the story is always in the forefront. I like the story and how the movie handles it. Was saving this art worth it...yeah, is the movie worth watching...YEAH! Not too heavy, not too light...just right.

What's not so great: Nothing in the movie comes to mind, just the loses of WWII.

Let me admit right now, I'm incredibly biased here...living in NYC during the show's run made some of these story lines more familiar/funny. Tourists, street characters, criminals, even a fiscal crises and a possible police strike. All played for laughs but with serious moments to add some gravity to it all. The main ensemble worked very well together and the peripheral cast and guests didn't kill the buzz, either. The writing was, in a word, excellent. Living in NYC during the '70s was rough but this show, at least, helped you get through most of it with a smile. Watching this show with my dad was a fond memory for me.

Shares many songs with the 'Essential' collection but with better liner notes. Trower's music is a very Hendrix-inspired, funky blues/hard rock mix. The vocals are soulful and the solos are good to inspired. Just a good, solid set of songs in a style that's not heard much anymore. Good stuff, fun to listen to.

I've been a fan of Roth's since hearing him on the Scorpions' 'Tokyo Tapes' and studio albums. He writes good hard rock songs, somewhat Hendrix-inspired, and his classical playing is, at least, on the same level as Malmsteen, if not better (and a bit more operatic as well). The compilation comes with detailed liner notes, list of musicians on the music and some pictures. What else could anyone want? Well,...more, of course!

What's great about it: NIce mix of half classical and half rock music, a nice overview to Roth's solo music.
What's not so great: A lot of music, nice liner notes....leaves me wanting more.

An incredible combination of great songs, great melodies and a guitar army that probably made Jimmy Page jealous. Tom Scholz's production skills gave us an amazingly full sound that still rocks today. The first album is the best of the two but the second's no slouch either. So turn it on, turn it up and get out your air guitars...this album is fun!

I checked this album out because I wasn't famialiar with his earlier (pre- 'Night Moves) material and figured this was a good place to start. Want rockers - got 'em...want ballads - got 'em (especially 'Turn the Page') and there's a few R&B covers as well! All in all a great (and fun) way to get into his earlier material. 'Nuf said!

Bought this to check out some of the newer bands around and I was impressed. Lzzy Hale has some set of pipes on her and the band is right there with her. The band has all these hot riffs and Lzzy's voice is right there with them. After listening to the CD, I put on the DVD and that was just as impressive, if not more. Young bands with all that energy is just pure fun! Some may say it's only rock'n'roll, but someone once sang 'it's only rock'n'roll...but I like it!'...and I agree.

Starting out with a few heavy metal tunes and finishing with some more tuneful hard rock tunes, including a few acoustic numbers, Pretty Reckless have a very enjoyable album here. The metal numbers have great riffs and the hard rock and acoustic numbers are more tuneful...all are well written.

Another chapter in the saga of a great anti-hero...a bad man with a 'code of honor'. Great monsters, great action...and those poor bounty hunters, who don't really stand a chance (Riddick picking them off is half the fun, they think they're so bad!)...unless they work with him, then he'll let them live. The best of the three Riddick movies, in my opinion. Get the popcorn, turn out the lights, lie back and enjoy the show.
