Season 2 of 'Penny Dreadful' was just as good, if not better, than the first season. I found this season's story, the new characters, the further character development (a few surprises here) very interesting. I couldn't wait to get to the next episode (no binge-watching here!).
The only negative issue was the short production blogs instead of more in-depth extras on some of the production aspects (sets, costumes, etc.).

A hidden pyramid is found in the desert during the revolt in Egypt, how about a quick look before the violence forces us out of the country...Sure!...Why not?...And so it begins!
This movie was well-paced, with some nice surprises, and a whole lot of fun. Based on Egyptian mythology, while not reinventing the wheel, I found the flow of the story effective and engaging. I picked it up due to the subject matter and had a fun time...can't wait to show it to my friends.

'Toys in the Attic', along with 'Rocks' are possibly the two best albums from Aerosmith's early years...their debut and 'Get Your Wings' can be added to form an excellent beginning to this hard-rockin' band. It has everything, good tunes with great riffs, twin-guitar magic played with major attitude and bravado..."Walk This Way" is one of the greatest rock songs ever! If I had to introduce anyone to Aerosmith, this would be the one! If you like hard rock, get this album and turn it up!

Curiosity drove me to pick up this movie...that and the way the powers that be pulled the movie from theatrical release due to either moral responsibility or possible backlash due to the subject matter (probably the latter). While not a big fan of either Franco or Rogen, they do make good movies. Bottom line: I enjoyed the movie, it did have its moments but other parts seemed to drag a little. I suspect that fans of Franco and Rogen will love this movie. I consider this a good comedy and would recommend it, especially to fans.
P.S.- The 'Naked and Afraid' special feature was pretty good.

This album was not exactly what I was lead to believe. While a concert by the current version of the band would have been great, a testament to how the band has continued despite all their losses, of the 19 songs presented here the band only plays on 3 songs! To top off the disappointment, on the DVD, not only do the credits roll during the final song, 'Sweet Home Alabama', but the song fades out instead of ends...who does that! While the special guests do justice to most of the material, the music isn't really all that bad, this just isn't a Skynyrd concert. '...For the fans' indeed...Not!

Gettin' Too Mellow with Age

Let's start off with a statement...I love early to Mid-70's Funkadelic! Wild guitar-based, rockin' funk that got you groovin' with some social commentary thrown in to keep it real...the grooves were organic! Too many of these grooves are keyboard-based and to many of the drums are either laid back or just machines and sound samey! The best songs had the old Funkadelic players on them and while there are some decent grooves here the lackluster way they are played bordered on disappointing! It's just not the same, too much of this modern funk is just fake funk! I'll put it on every once in a while but it is just not the same. I really wanted to like this...I guess you really can't go home. George, why have you forsaken us?

Gritty WWII story! Incredible combat scenes! Another war story where the questions of morality and humanity falls into a gray zone and what one must do to survive, and yet, still manage to hold onto one's humanity. Brad Pitt's complex character strives to keep his crew alive through it all...a father figure. But, what's a war movie without the action...I was literally gritting my teeth through some of these scenes. Incoming fire...DUCK!

Season 6 is the continuing saga of a group of characters that, by now, are familiar and loved. While a bit uneven at times, we still have the gang getting into some interesting situations and running into a few interesting characters. Each episode usually has a few plot strands weaving through it involving different cast members until we get the 'pay-offs' at the end. We also have a 2-part 'highlights' show from the first 100 shows. 'The Jimmy' is probably my favorite episode.

This is a 4-disc collection of songs from blaxploitation soundtracks at a very nice price. While there's a few hit songs, even a few spoken-word pieces, this is simply a collection of good, gritty soul/R&B/blues music from a variety of singers/bands from that era. While this is probably not for everyone, the price alone makes it worth checking out if one is interested in hearing music from that period.

A nice collection of songs/hits from the band. Not sure why there's so many (6!) new songs on it, especially when there's so much good material, which was left off, to choose from (where's 'Dario"?). While rerecording the songs gave them a more homogenized sound, the new versions lost some of the quirkiness that was part of the charm of the originals. Hmm, smells of legal issues. Yet the mix of disco, r&b, caribbean, latin and rock with a psuedo-'40's feel is still a lot of fun and enjoyable. It won't disappoint, but could have been better.
