I bought this case because it is the style of case I have found most useful for the way I use an tablet, landscape orientation and with the large base of folio cover like this one. The case fits the Samsung S2 8.0 well, allows access to the controls and ports and adds only a little to the weight of the tablet, is very reasonably priced and easy to use and relatively stable as a stand in landscape orientation. Only feature I wish it included was support for the tablet's cover sensor for sleep and wake with cover close and open. But at this price point it is great.

Near theater Quality Audio

I like the Sony MDR-XB950B1 headphones they provide good acoustic isolation from surrounding sound and avoid intruding on people around me. With the Extra Bass feature the I think the sound is very full and rich, (YMMV). I think the designers probably had overcoming some of the limitations of today's Ipads, Iphones, Tablets and Smart Phones with their small speakers and thin formats MDR-XB950B1 headphones are large with 40mm drivers and drive electronics to match.
Over the last 5 years I have had 4 different Bluetooth earbuds or over the ear headphones none of them were as sophisticated as the Sony's or as expensive. All of my earlier Bluetooth devices did a reasonable job of duplicating the sound the tablet or smart phone produced, but the Sony MDR-XB950B1 is the first headphones I have had that I think approached theater audio quality. And for Bluetooth devices they are the first that offered a long enough battery life to eliminate the urge to recharge the headphone battery each night, Sony claims an 18 hour battery life and so far having only had the headphone for just over a week I can't dispute the claim, and there is a wired connection option if you run the battery down.
I have tried the headphones with tablets with Android versions 5.x and 6.x and with a cell phone with 7.x it has had no trouble connecting and linking with any of them. The Sony Headphone Connect Android application V1.0.0 doesn't work with Android Versions below 6.0 although the headphone connects and links to Android Version 5.x just fine and Bass Boost can be controlled manually from controls on the headphone. The Android devices I tried had Bluetooth versions from 4.0 to 4.2 and the latter had some additional support for changing surround sound profiles. I don't have an Apple Device so I can't comment on the performance of the headphones on them.
I recommend the Sony MDR-XB950B1 headphones but they are costly, however I would replace mine if they were lost or damaged. I am giving a rating of 4 stars because of the cost and the issues with the The Sony Headphone Connect Android application V1.0.0 not working with Android V5.X.

Portable drive for compact laptop and tablet PCs

For someone who travels with a PC tablet or laptop who is concerned with keeping the size of the system they carry within limits this is an option to consider. This drive is based on an SSD drive like the system drive in many small footprint laptops or a Surface Pro tablet. The PNY is about 1/8th the size of the conventional USB portable hard drive. The storage per dollar for the PNY SSD is several times more then an USB hard drive about the same as USB Flash drives. But the PNY SSD drive has much higher read/write rates then a Flash drive and many USB portable hard drives. If you don't need Terabyte external storage then the PNY SSD drives deserve a serious look.
The PNY I bought slips into a pocket of the case that I carry my 11.6 inch Laptop in and increases the mass storage of the 128GB SSD system drive by 220 GB at the cost of a similar capacity Flash drive.

This would make an excellent laptop for a high school student or coupled with a desktop would probably work for a college freshman.

I would give this 5 stars but the 2GB RAM reduces multi tasking performance and the 64GB SSD without really easy expansion is limiting. I partially fixed the disk storage limit with an small in size USB3 flash drive in the USB3 port.

My son and I both bought these for use in tablets. He has his in a Lenovo Yoga 2 10.1 Android tablet, I put the one I bought in a Dell Venue 11 Pro Windows 10 tablet. He formatted his in the Android tablet with the native SD card format utility in Android settings, I formatted the one I put in the Dell Venue 11 Pro with the Windows 10 disk format utility as an NTFS volume. Both micro SD cards have been working great for several months now..

We purchased this LED TV to replace a smaller one that we had had for several years. We were looking for excellent display and sound but without "Smart TV" options because the DVR and Blue Ray Player we already owned covered those functions. The Toshiba 49L310U filled the bill, excellent picture and excellent sound without the added expense of duplicating "Smart" functions we already had in other components of our entertainment system.

A step forward in WiFi performance

A year ago the flow of data on our home Wifi network was largely from the Internet via cable modem to the WiFi router to a Wifi device in the form of streaming video, only a very small amount of the total data was not streaming media from the Internet to a Wifi device or from one WiFi device to another WiFi device on the network and only a few Wifi devices needed bandwidth at any time. The early configuration solution was to think out the data flow and locate some WiFi devices to the 2.4GH band of the dual band router and place others devices on the 5 GB band. In the last few months we added a new Wifi enabled DVR that can stream video via WiFi to other TVs and computers (tablets and laptops) in other rooms and the early solution began to break down with a small amount of annoying jumpy video and sound and buffering.
I decided to upgrade to one of the new MU-MIMO (multiuser MIMO) router the model selected was the Linksys EA7500 which can support several simultaneous WiFi streams at the same speed to geometrically dispersed Wifi devices. This seems to have solved the jumpy video and buffering issues with the new DVR and it's WiFi video clients and reached an area of the house the workshop in the garage which didn't have WiFi coverage before as a bonus. Physically the Linksys EA7500 is larger but looks very similar to the dual-band N900 Gigabit router it replaces, 1 Ethernet connector to the cable or DSL modem, 4 connectors for Gigabit LAN , 3 dual-band detachable antennas, 2 USB ports (1 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.0), Power port for AC power adapter, on/off switch, reset switch. The status LEDs on the Linksys EA7500 are at the back next to the corresponding port instead of on the top or front of the router which is a bit inconvenient if you want to refer to them. Configuration of the router is fairly straight forward. I removed the LAN Ethernet cables from the dual-band N900 Gigabit router and plugged them into the corresponding ports on the Linksys EA7500. Connected the AC power, launched a web browser on a computer on the router's LAN and open the Linksys EA7500 default base URL. This brings up the routers configuration application in the Browser and allows the administrator to set such network parameters as the SSID's for the 2.4 Gh and 5 Gh Wifi bands, select encryption and network passwords for each SSID, turn on/off the Guest Access, Parental Controls, Media Prioritization, options to enable access to devices on the home network from the Internet, along with many other options.
So far I am very happy with the choice of the Linksys EA7500 to up grade our home Wifi network, there have been no instances with jumpy video since it was installed. The installation was smooth only one PC needing an update to its network drivers out of over 20 Wifi devices. Until MIMO and MU-MIMO Wifi adapters become more common the full throughput won't be realized for the network but it is a step forward even with legacy Wifi adapters.
I would recommend the Linksys EA7500 to my friends needing high throughput WiFi.

Newest Android updates fix most earlier issues

I bought one of ths Flex Elite 7.85 in late July 2015 and returned it the next day because Netflix, Xfinity TV GO, and a couple other streaming video apps wouldn't work. In late Nov. 2015 I bought an open - box one in the expectation that Insignia had release an update to the Android 5.0 in the tablet that fixed the probles with streaming video apps and was happy to see that a new update was available and the streaming video problems were fixed. Also battery life seemed better then earlier although still a bit limiting at 4 or 5 hours. We now have 3 of the Flex Elite 7.85 tablets all with microSD cards for storing video, music and book files and being enjoyed by members of the family. We have added a couple medium capacity power vaults for extra runtime away from AC power. The Insignia Flex Elite have evolved into very cost effective devices for Surfing the web, email, and entertainment.

DigiLand Tablet: Stay connected wherever you go with this 8" tablet. Windows 10 makes Web navigation a snap, and you can house plenty of photos, music and documents with 32GB of storage space. Plus, snap clear photos of events with 2.0MP front- and rear-facing cameras.

Great value in an 8 inch Net Tablet

Early in November the local Best Buy store had the DigiLand DL808W on display, a new economy 8 inch Windows tablet with Windows 10 installed and a good looking IPS display. After working with the store display tablet for a short time I bought one and now have had about 2 weeks of experience with it. For an economy tablet the touch screen has better than average responsiveness, the display has good range of brightness with a wide viewing angle. Battery life for Web Tablet tasks (email, web browsing, simple games, some video streaming) has been 5.5 to 6.5 hours on a charge. Screen resolution is 1280 by 800 which in an 8 inch tablet is not bad even for streaming video. Wifi seems to be single band but on my home LAN transfer speed is on par with any other Wifi device. This tablet is not a CPU power house it performs about as fast as the other Atom quad core tablet with 1GB of RAM that I have tried but is smoother running and has fewer hiccups then the other 1GB RAM tablets I have tried or own. If you enter a screen touch and you don't get an instant response just wait a second or so. Free disk space on the system drive is about 18GB with the stock applications installed and you can add a micro SD card with 64GB or more without any problems, just plug the card in.
Now the cautions, it is an economy tablet construction is plastic and light so a folio cover or universal tablet case is probably a good addition, also I am fairly sure the touch screen surface is plastic and venerable to scratches, a screen protector seems needed, I bought one from an Internet vender for the DigiLand DL801W 8 inch
tablet and it fits fine. Lastly the warranty is limited to 90 days so consider a protection plan although I haven't had any cause for concern with the tablet I have yet.

The recent introduction of the Surface 3 caused me to look at it and some alternatives as an upgrade to the Atom Z3700 series Windows tablets I already had. The Surface 3 and recent tablets and 2in1 mobile devices that use the latest Intel Atom or Intel core M processors had fan less designs, 8 hour + battery life and were light enough to be options. Until Best Buy put the Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140 on sale the core M tablets were out of my price range, now the Best Buy Dell 7140 bundle with Keyboard is the lease expensive option, and the one I picked.
Dell Venue 11 Pro Model 7140 is heavier than the Surface 3 but lighter than a Surface Pro 1,2 or 3, I am seeing about a 10 hour battery life so far and the performance is almost at the original Surface Pro level. The 7140 is shipped with 64 bit Windows 8.1 one significant result is that the free disk space is about 20 GB, a 32 bit Windows 8.1 with Bing tablet with a 64GB main drive could be expected to have 30GB or more free. The free disk space is a function of the larger size of 64 bit Windows 8.1 executable. The Surface 3 64GB model has larger amount of free disk space.
The Dell 7140 bundle with the included Dell Slim Tablet Keyboard needs a firm and flat surface for the keyboard to function reliably. On a non-flat or yielding surface like your lap the keyboard will often disconnect, on a desk or table I haven't had any problems at all. The Keyboard has an elegantly designed kick stand built into it that works nicely although it only allows 2 tablet angles and not as ridged as the Surface 3. Closing the keyboard will put the tablet into Sleep and opening it wakes it if it was asleep, folding the keyboard around to the back of the tablet, disables the keyboard and entry is by the touch screen or stylus. The keyboard also serves as a protective cover for the screen and to a limited amount the back of the tablet but I wished it offered some protection to the edges and corners. Tablet construction looks quite good but not as solid as the total metal case of a Surface or Surface Pro device. I am impressed with the performance, quality construction, thoughtful design and value the 7140 represents and won't hesitate to recommend it to my friends.

I got this and returned it within 24 hours. The screen did not rotate and it did not come with flash, so I was not able to use it for it's intended purpose. The CSR at the store said that it's suppose to rotate, again I may have got a defective one.
After the initial set up it was easy to navigate. I'm familiar with the android operating system and it's easy to use.
The flash was the deal breaker, as with the other tablet I purchased. I got to try a lot in the store and was assured by the 1st CSR in the tablet section that it had flash, as the display unit was not working properly.
If I didn't have to have Adobe I would have kept it. It's camera and video were excellent. It was super fast, apps worked without a glitch.
I would recommend to a friend, but alert them that flash is not an option with this machine.

Auto-screen rotation is controled in settings, the Android JB OS usually sets the default to off the user just has to turn it back on.
Google took Adobe Flash out of Google Play for all JB and 4.X Android OS versions the Flash.apk has to be copied from another source and then can be installed. Also a number of the Android web browsers no longer support Flash under Android 4.X and JB so you have to load a new browser from Google Play that does support Flash. This is not an Acer issue but a common one for tablets and phones with the Android JB/4.x operating system.

The space restrictions on 32 GB Windows 8.0 -8.1 32bit tablets are fairly .similar the Dell Venue 8 Pro has only about a GB greater free space then the miix2 8. The solution for a shortage of free space is to install an micro SD card and get a couple USB flash drives to create the system recovery sets and move Office to the SDcard and the recovery set to the USB flash drive. That lets you increase the free space on C: to about 12 GB and lets media reside on the SDcard also.

I was pretty excited to find a $99 tablet with full windows on it. Even though it has a small amount of memory (1gb) it didn't seem to be a problem. The BIG problem comes from the fact that since it has windows 8.1, you can't install apps to the sd card. (you could on windows 8) This means that right out of the box you only have about 5 gigs of space to use for apps and games and such. Updates also uses this space. The memory card can only be used for pictures, video and music. SO if you just plan on surfing the web and checking email... this should work. I just hope that email doesn't have an attachment.

Legacy Windows applications and Windows 8.0 and 8.

A commonly repeated complaint about Windows 8.0 and 8.1 is the lack of applications and that applications can only reside on the system drive (C:). Actually most legacy applications (Windows 7) can optionally be installed to drives other than C: an SD or microSD card and many Modern UI applications can be moved to an SD or microSD card by using a link pointing to the new location from the old location. So if an application was available under Windows 7 in many cases it is still usable under the new OSs. Subject to the limitations of the hardware (32 bit vs 64 bit, RAM, overall disk storage, etc)

There is no usb host function. You cannot plug in usb devices like a memory sick, or a keyboard or hub, or anything.
I am both delighted and concerned with how easy it is to sync this tablet with a win8 pc.
It seems to be a fully functional windows desktop. But the hardware limitations prevent the usage of resource hungry apps and programs.
The bluetooth works well.But for file transfers, it can be a bit "ARGH!" The cameras themselves are better than you think. But the stock camera app is abysmal.
The hdmi output is very good. This tablet supports multiple monitors; itself and one external (I've run youtube on one and LibreOffice on the other (it doesn't matter which is which)).
My tablet runs Blender, Chrome, and LibreOffice just fine. Though I haven't tested Blender thoroughly, I suspect renders will take some time (i.e. a LONG time, maybe a VERY long time)
The wifi is very good.
The touchscreen works best when not in desktop mode.
The battery is surprisingly good.
For music makers: there is a 100-150 ms delay between touch and sound. I don't know about bluetooth connected devices.The on board speaker is okay. Headphones are pretty good. Haven't tested the microphone.

USB host function

USB host function in the NS-15MS08 requires an micro USB adapter the fully supports the USB OTG specification (some tablets relax this this one doesn't and some adapters don't fully support the specification) I created a recovery USB flash drive using an adapter specified as OTG and have used a flash drive to transfer files to the tablet. Don't know if the tablet will power an USB hard drive or optical drive.

This model just arrived at the local Best Buy and I picked it up on impulse (I have a couple other Windows 8.1 tablets), and curiosity (how do you fit 32 bit Windows 8.1 on a 16 GB system disk). This is my initial impression after a day of hands-on I'll try to update the review later. Installation was the standard Windows 8.1 process, setup MS account and sync applications and settings, after Windows updates and applications syncing and disk clean up I have 4.4 GB free (your results may differ). Tablet hardware is middle of the road, construction seem solid and better then you might expect in an economy package and a lot of other tablets I have seen or used. CPU performance is fairly snappy, applications take slightly longer to load then I see with Tablets with 2GB of RAM instead of the 1GB the Insignia has but execution is as fast or faster then other Intel Atom CPU powered tablets I have experience with. The connectivity to the tablet is better then some of the much more expensive tablets I have used and includes WiFi, micro USB, and micro HDMI. The WiFi is slower then the other tablets I have but that might be WiFi router related, Netflix, email, Web browsing all work just as quickly as any other PCs I have. The screen performance is fine, it is not a retina display but it is again middle of the class performance for color brightness and resolution. Netflix looked actually better then some other tablets I have used both Android and Windows.
Now the CONs beyond the obvious tight disk space, battery life looks like it is going to be between 5 and 6 hours for a mix of web browsing, email, video streaming and reading. I haven't found a way to use the USB port for Data transfer and charge/power the tablet simultaneously which has been a problem with usability of some other tablets but may be solvable. Accessories are a problem now screen protectors and cases choices are limited to those manufactured for other tablets.
I will recommend considering the Insignia to my friends who are looking for a tablet to handle Internet web browsing, email, streaming video, ebook reading and light Microsoft Office class work. It certainly looks like it could be cost effective alternative to other tablets.

Follow up after about 3 weeks.
The slightly slow WiFi speed was a router issue my other tablets and laptop also had the same issue, a network modem and router reboot solved the issue and the Insignia WiFi performance is the same as the other tablets and laptops.

Battery life is averaging about 6.5 hours on a charge (YMMV).
The micro USB port host mode usage is affected by the micro USB to USB adapter you use as a couple of the other brands of tablets in the house also are. I have bought the adapters in groups of 2 or 3 so there is one laying around in the various places I use the tablets and some work with a flash drive on the Insignia and some don't.
I finally decided to use another office suite that I had on the shelf that could be installed on the microSD card instead of Office 365 that saves atleast 300 Mb on the system drive. Free storage on the system drive (C:\) is at 4.4 GB,
I have become even more impressed with what a value the Insignia NS-15MS08 is other than system drive storage you get about 95% of the performance of other Intel Atom quad core based tablets at 50% or less of the price.

Insignia Flex 8 inch NS-P08A7100 Android 6.0 Tablet.
I tried the new 10 inch Flex 10 a week ago and took it back after a day because to many of my usual APPs did not work. Two days ago the local Best Buy received the new Insignia Flex 8 and at $30 less then the 10 inch model and having a couple Reward Zone certificates I bought one. The 10 inch and 8 inch tablets have a lot in common, same CPU/SOC, same RAM, same screen resolution, same nice solid construction. The same APPs that I tried on the 10 inch and wouldn't work, didn't work on the 8 inch version either.
I decided to keep the NS-P08A7100 because after a lot of time in the play store I was able to find APPs that could would serve as replacements for my usual apps, that wouldn't work. Streaming media was a problem. I had to try almost a dozen media players before I found one that would stream video from a media server and not drop the connection every two to five minutes. The dedicated Netflix and Xfinity APPs worked fine, but streaming from a media server via Wifi to a media player APP would drop the connection every two to five
minutes for most media playback APPs, but I did find one that works OK.
The Flex 8 is fast for a budget tablet and compares well to tablets costing much more, and I expect that future software updates will fix the issues with many APPS that have problem now. Caution Setup issue

During the first use from a factory reset or new tablet with the current version of Android, the first startup/setup has a flaw, the touch screen has the keyboard set to auto repeat and auto correct which makes it practically impossible to get through the tablet set up where any text or email address has to be input. Get Geek Squad to help with the first time setup or just skip all of the Google account setup steps and complete the process. Then go back to setup, setup your google account and set the keyboard options to something you can use. I hit this with two of these tablets now and you will think the touch screen is defective at first. Its not a hard wear issue but a minor issue in system software that is gone once the first startup is completed and probably will be gone after the first system revision, or perhaps has already been fixed.

Tried to buy a laptop for my daughter made the mistake of buying it online unseen and remote, the Lenovo - Thinkpad 11e 11.6 Laptop they sent had windows 7 on it and no way to update it anymore, now I have to return it or pay $120 for windows 10. My mistake for buying it indirectly as a present, pita.

I bought the ThinkPad 11E from another vender because they had the laptop with 8GB of RAM otherwise it is the same system. No problem regarding OS mine came with Windows 10 Pro as advertised. I have looked in detail at 11.6 inch laptops from Lenovo and 2 other manufactures they were both 2in1 and non-touch screen laptops. The number and variety of ports, the speed of an SSD system drive and 64bit Windows set the ThinkPad 11E apart from the other economy systems available in my area. I didn't write a review because I bought it from another vender and it had more RAM.

Based on the success in I had with a Dell Venue 11 Pro I had I would expect the card to work just fine formatted as NTFS, It might work as EXFAT also but there would probably be a heavy lost usable space penalty with that file system.

Can this tablet run the chromecast extender to view webpages on a chromecast tv?
My windows 7 pc can send websites thru the browser to my chromecast tv with the extender. Can this tablet with Windows 8.1 do it also ?
The Dell Venue 8 should work fine with the chromecast adapter, and I have first hand experience that it works fine with using it with a Miracast

Yes if you want to but for IE flash player support is already coded in but its Windows 8.1 so it is like any other Windows laptop or desktop running 32 bit Windows regarding the programs you can install.

There is a 64GB version of the MIIX 8 it the MSR difference is about $50. A microSDcard will be seen as a second Drive applications can be moved to the SDcard also media and Windows legacy application can usually be installed on the SDcard in the first place.
